How have you planned this to be played? In fluid time, turns or something else? Also, what exactly did you mean by the 100% historical accuracy? The stup only, or the outcome too?

And the Confederate? Is it compeltely NPC, and if so, who's going to RP its actions?
Trekys

I'd guessing the second list was the confederates right. I'm not buff on the US civil war but I'll have a stab. Can I take Thomas Jackson and his 25,000 please.

Just a few explination please.

What do those (place?) names after each Generals name mean? Will we need a map. And is Harrisonburg where I'm based?
Kulikovo
24-05-2006, 20:23
I suppose that does mean where you're based. The names after the generals are the names of the people playing them. I'm playing as William Tecumseh Sherman.

Will we have artillery and cavalry as well? And if so, are those factored into the number of troops we have?//
New-Lexington
24-05-2006, 23:02
for every 1000 soldiers, 2 artillery pieces
not sure on calvary although there are 2 pure calvary groups

Sukiaida
25-05-2006, 17:50
I think I got it first. By the way, what about General Warren in AUgusta, GA? THree major cities during that time. Atlanta as the railhead, Savannah as the port, and AUgusta as the factory center. 1/3rd of ammunition used by the confederacy came from the gunpowder mill there. Soooo I'll trade Bragg for General Warren in AUgusta, about 20,000 men and about that number more of militia and home guard units. Total 40,000, but only half of that is reliable.

KNowing that position, I can most likely send some of my state troops with permission from the governor. But I will need my militia and about 5,000 regulars to keep Augusta. Unless you like not having any powder.

I'll take a Stab at General Ambrose Burnside

Edit: *Historically - Brigadier General Burnside retired after he was replaced as Commander of the Army of the North

Anyone know any sites which can give me a basic rundown on the Organization of Burnside's Ninth Corp..
Sukiaida
27-05-2006, 01:03
Get in line, there are alot of people who'd like to stab him. SOrry bad joke. So what year are we starting this all on and how is time going to be put?

And wait wait wait. No Bragg would be in Atlanta. Warren is in Augusta. I'm sorry about the confusion, I just looked on page one and saw.

I think this should start before tjr war about a week to a month. So that the soldiers learn about the lines that are drawing. We can pretend to be friends and find we are turning away from each other.

Most positions are filled, BUT remember, you cant just join up and then not participate, so if you arent going to play, dont join up.

The Appalacians
02-06-2006, 21:09
maybe if there was someone rping for france and england i wouldn't object to that. but seeing as there isn't.. i will. france and england didnt enter the war because they had been stockpiling cotton... they didn't need the south for a while. also, they were getting cotton from egypt at that point.
Canadstein
02-06-2006, 21:13
Also that the Union made it a war also against slavery. So if England and France entered they would side with slavery and most European countries didn't support slavery.
Sukiaida
02-06-2006, 21:27
France wasn't concerned with that, and France may have joined despite the slavery issue if they thought it would help with their Mexican war.

England did assist a bit. Unless i'm mistaken, they helped the Confederacy blockade ports. Of course, i might be mistaken in that regard.
Wanderjar
02-06-2006, 23:30
Yes, we get England and France to declare war and invade you. Easy as that.

I don't think that France would have asisted the South for Two reasons. One: England supported the south, France hates England, their not going to help the friend of their enemy. Two: They helped us win the Revolution, so i doubt they would have fought against the Union.
Caladonn
03-06-2006, 02:11
Well, this may be a little late, but I'd like to take Admiral Farragut if possible... this seems really cool.

I also think it's good we don't have foreign powers in the RP- in my experience, every Civil War RP has fallen apart because foreign powers aid the Confederacy, when IRL it wasn't very realistic.
Ebedron
03-06-2006, 13:10
sukaida, create the thread, put a short summary of whats going on. Also, put player lists at the top. This rp will start 2 weeks before the war begins.
