Parties

Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands
-Formed primarily of the conservatives and a few Monarchists, this party is mainly for the power of the Reichstag and the Federal Government. They push for Government programs such as education and healthcare and push for government intervention in business. They also call for high military budgets.

Freie Demokratische Partei
-Made up of Libertarians and moderate Confederationalists, and even a few Monarchists, this party calls for large power in the states. They call for a reduction in Social Services and are in favor of tax cuts. They are in favor of little or no intervention in business. However, they are torn on the issue of the military.

Deutsche Bundpartei
-The Confederationist party. They call for weak government in the Federal level and abolishment of the Kaiser. They are in favor of States'-Rights in all matters. Social services are low on the agenda. However, they are clear in their wishes for the military; they call for it to be drastically reduced. They are also the only party to call for an end to the Space Program.

The Smaller Parties include:

Bayern-Österreich Partei
-This party calls for independance for Bavaria and Austria and practically nothing else.

Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands
-This is the party that calls for recreation of the German part of the Union. Not much else.

Die Partei
-A satirical party that calls for a return to the days of Roman Times and abolishment of paper. They also run on the idea of an orbital weapons platform which will give Germany a monopoly on space travel.

Adnan al-Malki, a Syrian military officer, arrives in Germany, unannounced, by civilian transport to discuss secondary AL member status for Germany. (OOC: officially he's on leave, and almost no one knows he's here.)

On November 25, the Reichstag General Elections were held. The past three years, while remaining relatively prosperous for Germany and the World have not bode the CDU well. The incapability of many conferences to get anywhere and the large tax increases have created in many Germans a sense that the CDU is incapable of leading Germany to a prosperous future in the rather tulmultuous times. However, many still support the increases in the military and the sucesses in space. This was overshadowed, however, by the FDP's promise to deliver a year of Cut Spending after the CDU spent two years in National Effort.

In the Federal Council, the FDP beat the CDU by a slight margin. The other parties, regardless of their power in the last race, did not show well.

In the Federal Electorate the election results went as given:

CDU-170-42%
FDP-205-50%
DB-24-6%
BOP-0-1%
SPD-0-1%
DP-0-.2%

Three Parties did not make the 5% marker, while the Confederationist barely made the mark. The CDU and FDP fought a hard fight in the Federal Election but the FDP came on top beating the CDU by over 8%.

In the State Elections results were radically different:

CDU-89-22%
FDP-268-67%
DB-20-5%
BOP-20-5%
SPD-0-1%
DP-0-.3%

The FDP delivered a crushing blow in the State Elections. Over 2/3s of the people voted for the FDP in the state elections, while the CDU barely got 1/5. The Secession Party, on its last breath, made a show in the State, while the Confederationists made the marker even less.

The total seats are:

CDU-259
FDP-473
DB-44
BOP-20

Kurt von Schuschnigg, upon hearing the news announced his retirement. His entire cabinet also resigned. The Kaiserin announced Theodor Heuss (FDP) as Chancellor. He was approved by a 75% rating. He chose Walter Scheel as Minister of Domestic Affairs and the Young but brilliant Hans-Dietrich Genscher as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Many have criticized choosing such a young cabinet, but Chancellor Scheel responded with, "When the old blowhards can't do the job right, the youngsters have to clean up the mess."

Regarding the recent naval expansion, Großadmiral Karl Dönitz was made Cheif of Armed Forces.

The Leopard Tank, as it is called, is state-of-the-art with ability to function in any situation including fallout and chemical warfare. All Armored Divisions will be equipped with it this year, with the Mechanized Divisions being outfitted by Second Quarter Next year. Designs for Desert Combat are currently being tested in Damman.

Sale of the new Leopard Tank will come out on the traditional time-frame with EEC, Arab League, Nigeria and South Africa able to purchase them in 1962, and for general sale in 1963.

Gerard was pissed. His girlfriend had just called to tell him that she was leaving him. She was moving to Frankfurt with that Heer Colonel. What was his name...? Who cares! That damned slut...

Kiel wasn't the same now. True it was now fully German, and the economy was back on track, but it was different. He couldn't tell if it was a good different or bad. True, the level of political activism was down, thanks to the lack of tension between Germans and Danes. Most of the Danes had headed out, taking the free tickets to Jutland. But Kiel was not the Scandic Kiel. It was German. And Gerard kind of liked it better. Not to mention he was a newly promoted Commander. Granted, it was for a couple of patrol boats, not the Prussia, but it was something. Maybe later... Or maybe he would be the first Admiral for the Space Navy!

His younger brother laughed at him when he talked about it. His brother was about to join the Tirpitz Naval Acadamy in Bremerhaven. He could laugh, but his brother had no reason to laugh, his own fantasies of marrying the Kaiserin. Talk about a dream...

----------------------------------------------------------

"Your highness, I believe you should take time to consider. Would you really want that bitch sister of yours running the country?"

Katherine was the Kaiserin's best friend, but sometimes she overstepped her limits. Granted her father was the head of H&K, but there were limits... no matter how right she was.

"Kath, you know you musn't speak that way. As much as I may agree with you... she is second in line..."

"Yes, Ali, I think your right. Anyways, why don't you try dating? You need the practice for when you have to find... the right guy." A girlish smile erupted from her face.

"Maybe for you, love is real. For me? Someone will choose, and I will have to pray that he is at least nice." She sighed.

"Says who? True, your father, the Kaiser would have had to choose, but your the Kaiserin! You are the most powerful 17 year old girl in the world! If some old Reichstag ass says you have to marry some crusty old Junker, you can just git rid of him. You can kill him!" Her girlish smile was replaced with a mischevious grin.

"Kath! It's Germans like you that we get called warmongers.... Anyways, who here is good enough?"

"Dietrichs?"

"He is already with that Munich girl."

"Jorg?"

"Too dumb"

"Albert?"

"Have you talked to him? He shatters when he talks to any girl, much less 'the most powerful 17 year old..."

"I swear Ali, your useless.... Well, promise me that if you find a good guy, you won't blow him off like Adolf?

"Fine. Maybe.... We should go to the beach for the weekend!"

"Oooh yes! We could go to Bremerhaven and see some cute cadet boys!" The girlish grin returned.

The Kaiserin sighed.

Very SIC: Several Members of the Luftwaffe begin to discuss the possibility of arming several Space Planes with simple auto cannons. The possibility is brought to the Chief of Armed Forces who takes it to several Reichstag members. Funding is promised for 1963, when test is supposed to begin.

A parapalegic rocket scientist rumored to have some strange old alleigances to Trotsky approaches the Reichstag about the need for Germany to develop mineshafts for Germans to live in. He proposes a 1:10 male to female ratio, with men based on intelligence and strength, and women based on breeding ability and actractiveness.

At the same time, several other Generals propose a Civil Defense system is long overdue and plans are put into place for construction of one in 1963.

SIC: Several Generalobersts in Friedrichshaven approach Dornberger in Heligoland about the status of the MOL fleet and the possibility of increasing it at little cost to Germany or the ESA.

Interested, they meet in Heligoland and the Generals give this plan.

While the MOL's will be less handled this year due to costs, several points will be laid out to provide for the capture of the SCT MOL that was damaged during the strike. An X-20 Space Plane will launch next month to fly into outer orbit and will then attach itself to the SCT MOL. The Kosmosnauts will then board the MOL and collect data, as well as claiming the MOL for Germany. A lock will be placed on it so as to keep it from anyone besides Germany from entering.

Later, the MOL will then be taken over to the German MOL where it will be physically attached to the German MOL. While the SCT MOL will be non-functional for the next several months, when funds become available, Kosmosnauts will reboot the MOL as soon as possible. The 4th MOL will provide key information on the SCT space program and then help along the way for the Uber MOL that is planned.

Dornberger approves and Operation Starcatcher begins.

Then it is but a simple matter of asking the Austrailians very nicely to investigate it with one of their X20 orbital space planes.
Once we acertain that someone is trying to steal it we will announce to the world what is happening and give an ultimatum stating that if it not returned by those who are absconding with it, then it will be destroyed be a sub launched ICBM to prevent valuable technology falling into the wrong hands.

Senior ASA officials in Japan approach the German space organizations explaining that when the US attacked China and the USEA, all communications were lost with the Tian Gen Orbital Space Laborotory.
Now fearing for the worst we belive that it was struck by the EMP effects of the bombardment and was incapacitated, condmening the crew to a death by suffocation.
The officials humbly ask that, since Asia has always had good relations with Germany and that Germany still has a working Space program, if they could retrieve the bodies of Captain Afanasy M. Kulikov (IKAF) and Captain Hiroyoshi Nishizawa (IJNAF) or at least perform an inspection of the Orbital Laboratory to see if it is salvagable.

November 14

In Berlin, the Reichstag gets out of the shelters and makes a symbolic emergency meeting in the Reichstag Building. 30 Members are dead from attacks, while an additional 12 will die within the next three months from radiation sickness, including the CDU Chief. He makes his appointment and dies in his home in Potsdam three days later.

In the Building several key decisions are made. Rumbles are heard from several Bavarians and Austrians about the possibility of secession, but their colleges immediately shun the idea. The overwhelming consensus is that the German Empire should remain intact and to do otherwise would be a dishonor to the 13 Million dead Germans.

Instead, the Reichstag votes overwhelmingly to grant the Kaiserin Emergency Powers for 5 years. The reasoning is that she has acted well in her reign and with her leadership, the German People will be able to rally around her and move forward.

The Reichstag will remain as it is until that time, when in 1970, General Elections will be held and the Kaiserin will then return her powers to the Elected body. The Reichstag will act as an advisory group and will vote on the use of military force, if the need occurs. Thus, the Kaiserin will not be able to control the military so that something like what happened under Hubertus will not happen.

Upon hearing the word, Alexandra returns to Potsdam and begins her administration. Together they compile a list of things to complete in her 5 year period, in this order:

-Feed People
-Maintain Level III (at least) Spending
-Maintain ties with the World
-Maintain presence in Mideast
-Rebuild Port of Hamburg
-Rebuild other cities
-Rebuild Heligoland
-Rebuild Merchant Fleet
-Maintain a standing Army, Airforce and Navy to work in conjunction with the EEC
-Maintain Presence in Space
-Rebuild Port Said and Suez City

It is hoped that all of these objectives can be completed by 1970. However, the Kaiserin makes it known that assistance from the rest of the world is needed.

She also calls for nuclear disarmament and for European Unity, although she stresses the need for Scandinavia and the Ukraine to be weakened. However, she echoes the French belief that good behavior should be rewarded, and she applauds the Polish people's restraint and willingness to cooperate.

The Kaiserin meets with the French representatives and informs him and the rest of the EEC that while the Fatherland is capable of many of these on its own, Germany will be needing a lot of food in the next half-decade.

The Reconstruction of Germany's cities will be done with German Workers and German pride, and as such, no assistance will be needed. However, maintaining a presence in the Mideast will be difficult since the Luftwaffe was wrecked, and as such, no significant EEC airforce lies in the Mideast. Also, Germany is incapable of manning and running the MOL program, and as such, needs to hand over the program to the rest of the EEC for the time.

Germany asks Britain if it would assist Germany in the reconstruction of Heligoland as well as Suez City and Port Said. Germany promised to help its new ally, Jerusalem (Jordan) and does not wish to come back on the promise.

1965

Alexandra, Kaiserin of 13 million less people opened the door to her office. Inside was a man, Theodore Heuss, the Chancellor of Germany actually, with a gun inside of his mouth. Tears were streaming down his face and his hand, and the gun were shaking.

"Mein Gott..."

The Chancellor pulled the gun out of his mouth and cried, shooting his foot as he did so. He yelped and several Imperial Guardsmen, brand new and somewhat green, ran inside and were very confused. They took the Chancellor and the Kaiserin outside they drove to the Imperial Hospice in Potsdam.

What the hell is this world coming to.

The Kaiserin just stared out the window. Trees, houses, gardens all passed by in the ambulence. However, the distinctive little Children were not there. No fathers greeting their wives, no bicycles, no cars with friends inside. Most people were inside their homes, watching the tolls rise higher and higher.

She blamed herself over and over, although deep inside she knew it wasn't her fault. She had only heard about it at breakfast. Her father had made some remark about how they had finally gotten the damned Scands. She had figured that it had been nothing but alas, her daily report had shown that Germany was hurting. Badly. And she was a continent away. Not that she could have done anything.

If anything, she would have been taken in the middle of the night and put in a bunker and apologised to. Most likely, however, is that she would have not been told and she, along with her nice little house in Hamburg that she had planned to stay in for the winter, would have been incinerated. No, she reminded herself, she would have been a martyr for German Teutons everywhere to exact revenge on the "baby killing Scandics" or the "vampire Poles." Damnit.

Now it was her duty to rebuild the country, much like it was for her grandfather. The most ironic thing, though was that her father, the tyrant he is, was right. If Hubertus had been allowed to carry through with the plan, perhaps Hamburg would have been hit, and perhaps Berlin too. However, Scandia would be in ruins and Poland would be a new province of the Greater German Empire! But then she wouldn't be Kaiserin. She chuckled at the small joke.

Germany-The Second Reconstruction-1965-1969

As Germany realizes the full effects of the utter destruction of the Twilight War, it takes an inward look at itself. With the total control of the country given to a woman in her 20s, the youth culture of Germany feels free to express itself.

1965

German students take the front line and, for the first time in over a century, pave the way for unrest. Since the failed revolutions of 1848, German students have largely followed the "good citizen" path, even while under Union rule. Students largely followed the state, looking to inherit the magesty that is the Empire. However, after the destruction of Damned November, as many call it, Students begin to feel that perhaps the older "more experienced" are incapable of doing it.

However, with many of them not having joined the armed forces, they have no way to express their views. They are trapped in a box of frustration and angst and begin to lash out. In May, just before graduation, German Students in Munich begin to protest the policies of the old regime, calling for a movement to full democracy, disbandment of the Empire and better living conditions. Many of the students are forced to live in terrible housing due to many suburbs of major cities having been obliterated. Some radicals even go as far as the call to leave the Middle East.

Clashes begin with local police units and even some Reichswehr units. Many of the service personnel look down upon their "apathetic and unpatriotic" counterparts and react more harshly than is needed. In the Munich Riot of 65, nearly a dozen students are injured in the largest uprising since 42 when the Germans revolted against Union dismantling of factories.

That fall sees an upsurge of enlistment, as well as more student activity, however, much of it is more passive with simple handing out of fliers. Many young Germans go on study abroad programs, especially in North America and the Middle East.

However, for one small moment, Germans all across the world smile when they see a German reach the moon.

1966

Many students return home and bring with them Rock 'n Roll and ties to American Counter culture. Students all across the Empire embrace it.

A strong Anarchist culture emerges and together with some of the elements of the Neo-Communist groups begin to form unions striving for the dissolution of the Empire. Many form Rock 'n Roll bands and begin to sing about the Depression, the War and every other problem that Germany faces.

However, many of the veterans who joined before going to college or those who are still serving their 3 year terms begin to butt heads with the new Unions and in one particularly bad event in Koln, several off-duty soldiers and several veterans begin to attack a Neo-Communist rally. Several people are stabbed and one person is hospitalized before the police arrive and arrest 34 people.

Older generations, however, deal with the situation in other ways. Crowds flock to local churches, both Catholic and Lutheran and embrace the teachings of Jesus and call for peace in our times. Christian Peace rallys soon pop up along side Anarchist ones and much confusion unfolds.

1967

With the Wartime Spending being reduced, people have slightly more time on their hands, although many are too exhausted to do much. However, feminist groups more than take up the slack.

Pushed forward by the success and relative popularity of the Kaiserin, women across Germany push for more social acceptance. Sexual experimentation and freedom are pushed, as is the desire to be fully integrated into the military, something which appauls the Pro-Military factions and sparks a series of riots during the Summer.

Christians become more active, sometimes allying themselves with the Military in condemning the Sexual exploration of the Feminist movements. However, the Anarchist/Neo-Communist movement waits as it plans is attack.

1968

In February, an Anarchist/Neo-Communist organization called the Red Army Faction declares itself an enemy of the Empire and calls for restoration of the Union. Many view it just as a group of people who bark but don't bite. Meanwhile, the Rock 'n' Roll movement becomes very powerful and spawns a new genre which specifically targets social issues. A highly influential band called the "The Scars" insults itself calling themselves "nothing but dumb punks," using a British term they picked up after travelling there. The new "punk" movement begins to echo the calls of many Anarchist and Neo-Communist factions and many of those groups flock to concerts in local bars.

(yeah, I did it)

In May, however, things change. What was once a relatively innocent movement became horribly bloody in May of 68. The Red Army Faction begins to hold rallys outside of the new Hamburg Port Facility. The police arrive and call for the rally to break up. The RAF refuses and several gunshots are heard with a policeman and a RAF member both hit and on the ground. Both police with thier G3s and the RAF with their MP5s open fire and a vicious gun battle ensues for nearly an hour while reinforcements from the local Armored Division arrive. The RAF scatters and several arrests are made. Nearly 12 Policemen and 34 RAF members are dead with over 200 total wounded. The next day an assassination attempt on the Cardinal of Vienna happens with the death of the assailant. Two weeks later, a Post Office explodes and a radio tower in Magdeburg is captured by RAF. They claim responsibility for it and promise more until the the Reichswehr is disbanded and the Kaiserin tried and hanged for the murder of 13 million Germans. Several local bueaucrats are held hostage and the entire nation watches in horror as the local police can do nothing. The RAF also claim they have bombs inside a Kindergarden school and plan to blow it up if anything is tried. Several minutes later, the radio tower is bombed and all inside die. The school is then disarmed at the cost of 11 Bueaucrats and 32 radio personnel. Few people care how many RAF members die. This promps H&K to begin production of a new rifle which will become the PSG1.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_%26_Koch_PSG1

The Church calls for peace and hopes that attempts at peace between the RAF and the Reichswehr can occur. Meanwhile, several important Lutherans meet with Catholic bishops to discuss the future of the Church in Germany. They come to an accord and the two churches agree to work together to help Germany in these times of trouble.

Feminists continue to call for increased status for women in society, while the Pro-Military Factions, increasingly angry at the lack of Scandic Reparations call for a larger buildup to fight enemies "at home and abroad."

1969

The United Church in Germany reaches out its hands to the other countries of Czechoslovakia and Poland, as well as Western Europe calling for Europe to unite in these times of trouble.

The Military reminds the world that it still has commitments to the Mideast and reiterates those calls when tensions begin to rise in India. Many among the Hawks call to support India, which many remind, is unfeasible considering France's alliance with the UIR.

Many, tired of the sexual promiscuity of the feminists begin to ignore their calls and the feminist movement begins to decline... for now.

The RAF continues its attempt at terrorism, hitting a barracks, a hospital and a courtroom before the Kaiserin issues an Imperial Decree calling for the destruction of the RAF. The KND and Imperial Guard then begin a campaign to destroy the RAF. In June, KND agents kill a dozen RAF leaders and manage to thwart a bombing at Oktobersfest. The punk movement continues on gaining popularity among the increasingly disillusioned youth. However, at the end of 1969, the Church and Army seem to be the victors. However, the RAF, reeling from defeat, seems to all but dissappear.

Political Events 1970:

On January 1st, Kaiserin Alexandra announces that she will hand over her powers on the 31st back to the Reichstag, as was planned. The Reichstag sets plans to have elections over the month, so that the new members will be able to gain their seats, and their power, on the 31st.

Meanwhile, the Kaiserin announces her candidate for new Chancellor. Hans-Dietrich Genscher, the once Foreign Minister who has held through, has proven himself to the Kaiserin and it has shown. Acting as her prime assistant, the new Candidate and her Majesty worked well together and the Kaiserin believes that Herr Genscher will prove himself to the German People and the World.

If he is to be approved, his plans include more active participation in the EEC, as well as maintaining the large force in the Mideast. With the lack of any danger in Europe, more forces will be available for duty in Arabia, which seems to be more and more important these days.

Germany currently has no position on the on-going UIR-India debacle. However, when the situation becomes threatening to German interestes and oil flows, Germany will take a much larger interest.

"So your recommendation is to not be such a staunch supporter of the UIR. Tone it down as it were." He actually pulled out a pad and took notes. "Now the question arises at some of the comments Germany made on the issue of recognizing India. CUrrently they have banned an embassy there unless our president got down on his knees and apologize. Now retracting our recognition did prove harsh, we do have to confront a question on our soveriegnty. SInce Germany did raise this issue, we were wondering on Germany's thoughts on perhaps the Philippines recognizing the Indian government, and they forgetting about the apology. Would you support this and stand behind the UIP or do you suggest we simply recognize them and try other ways to get embassies there?" He kept his notepad open. After all Europe would have to be the new road to the west, and having them angry might be a little... troublesome.

Germany feels that continuing this "War of Words" as it may be, merely fans the flames and builds the Indian peoples' egos. International Politics is much like a playground of Kindergarden children. If you let harsh words upset you and you react, then they will have seen that they have gotten to you and thus will continue, until you snap and react harshly. Thus you will become the aggressor and the paraiah, even though they started it.

The representative chuckles. It was 100 years ago that a silly little Emperor let a nasty telegram get to him, and paved the way for his exile and the rise of the German Empire, which, a year before was nothing but a conglomeration of petty, quabbling states. History never fails to show us the present.

CICME Fieldmarschall Manfred Rommel read a report of a growing number of young teenage half-breeds with their single mothers. Apparently, the 15+ years of German garrisoning of the Middle East has caused a new group of Levantines to appear, much to the distaste of the locals. While this is unacceptable, Rommel had to order a solution.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

As of January 1, 1970:

All German Soldiers that are currently unwed, should they cause a local woman to become burdened with child must immediately wed that woman and provide care for the child, as if it were a German.

Those who are already wed must either adopt the child or pay for its welfare, including education all the way through University, if it so desires.

All German soldiers are ordered to restrain themselves from copulation with locals as much as possible, unless marriage is the intent.

In August of 1970, things in Germany fire up. Students, out of school and returning from vacations, begins protesting German involvement in South Asia. Many continue to protest the lack of non-Veteran vote and some even begin protesting the German "Imperialism" in the Mideast. German police keep an eye on all protests, and many Military Colleges plan events the same day as protests. However, on the Middle Eastern Revolts, the police crack down.

The first one began on July 28th, and many Muslims and ex-Scandics were a part. It was held in Kiel, now the Largest German port after merging Scandic and German Kiel, and the police were extra weary. The violence, many suggested was staged by the police, but it all started when a brick was thrown at a line of Police officers. The Police, not wanting to look weak, charged.

It was the worst student-Government violence since 1848. The police, with tear gas and nightsticks ripped into the Scandics. The fighting occurred for nearly 10 vicious minutes, and only stopped when the Landswehr were brought in to stop the Police, much to their dismay. At the end, 3 students were dead and nearly 140 were hospitalized. 2 Policemen were hurt. The German Government issued an official apology to the SU and compensated all the families. However, 10 members of the German Communist Party were arrested and the party banned, after they were arrested for instigating riots.

Similar, but less violent events occured in Vienna and Munich.

However, in mid-August, the RAF, which had pledged a return made their entry.

On August 18th, A Lufthansa aircraft travelling from Munich to Moscow was hijacked. 5 members of the Red Army Faction smuggled 4 Mp5s, 5 pistols, and a handful of Grenades aboard and as the plane entered Czech airspace, they demanded that the plane be directed to West Arabia. 1 man was shot in the arm and the flight directed south.

They met with the pilot and demanded that he send a signal demanding the release of the Communist Party members and the abdication of the Kaiserin. If their demands were not met, they would execute all of the passengers and kill the crew. They also stated that the Chairman of the Munich Bank would be summarily executed. That explained why he had gone missing the past 3 days. Lastly, they demanded that $30 Million in American Dollars would have to be sent down the Rhine in Essen.

While the Reichstag began debating giving into the demands, the Chief of the newly formed Grenzschutzgruppe 9, a Counter-Terrorism group set up after the Radiotower Fiasco of the 60s. He contacted the Chancellor and got word to execute Operation Fire Magic. While the GSG-9s plane roared up, the Reichstag agreed to begin plans for the release of the members. They were lying.

After recieving the report that the Communists were to be released, the Captain managed to radio the number of Terrorists. The leader of the RAF members threatened to shoot him in the head if he did anything else. When the plane reached Jeddah, with so many planes that day landing, the plane was not allowed to land. The pilot, low on fuel, landed in a nearby dirt road. As he went out to check the tires, he managed to leave a note on the ground and signalled a passerby to pick it up. The Gunmen felt he took too long, and as he boarded the plane, they shot him in the head.

The Co-Captain directed the plane towards Say'un, Yemen, where the plane was allowed to land.

August 19th

Lufthansa Flight 181 landed in Say'un and the Terrorists declared that the hostages would be killed every hour after August 20st, at 1200 GMT. The Reichstag declared that they were readying the plans for release of the prisoners, which caused the Terrorists to move the plan back a full day.

August 21st

Meanwhile, GSG-9 landed in Aden, and immediately headed out to Say'un in jeeps. After a 2 day trek, they were at Say'un Airport. A radio which they had reporting to BBC declared that the first prisoner was released, and walking down the road in Berlin. The Terrorists breathed a sigh of relief as the cabin door exploded. 2 GSG-9 Operatives burst in from the Wing Windows and 3 more emerged from the cargo bay and threw stun grenades. A terrorist began to fire sporadically as the grenades went off and a GSG-9 member was hit in the arm. Three of the five terrorists were shot, 1 in the head, and the rest were beaten and handcuffed. Of the remaining 4, 1 died of his wounds on the way to Say'un Hospital and the other three committed suicide.

The rest of the Communist Party members were detained and the released one was immediately arrested. The supposed $30 million was simply a breifcase and the man who picked it up was immediately shot in the head by a sniper who was watching. The Chairman of the bank, however, was summarily executed by "second Generation" RAF members.

After the events, the German Government promised to never again negotiate with terrorists.
