Rogue War [Invite Only]

"Sir, are you ready?"
Vasil D'Anglas, Prime Minister of Karchozia and the leader of the Rogue Alliance, quickly adjusted his tie and took a deep breath. He was about to make possibly the most important announcement of his political career, an announcement that he had never really invisioned as happening to him.
The studio producer started counting down from five... four... three... two... one... *click* The cameras started running, and Vasil D'Anglas addressed the world.
"Greetings, citizens of the Rogue Alliance and those of the international community. I come before today with a grave announcement, and I will not keep you in suspense over it: The Rogue Alliance is most likely going to war. The recent political actions taken by the accused region, Rogue Union, have pushed our governments towards only one possible course of action. However, we will not willingly send your sons and daughters and relatives into danger. We have issued an ultimatum to the government's of the Rogue Union. I do not have time to disclose the contents now, but they will become available to you tomorrow morning via government news sources." Vasil paused as he let his words, and the implications of his words, sink in.
"It is my hope that the issue can be resolved peacefully, but it is commonly felt that the threat will not diminish even if an agreeable resolution can be decided upon. Only time will tell... Until then, I can only provide my condolences for having to make such an announcement. Good night."
The cameras shut down, and the small government television studio was enveloped in silence. The Prime Minister slowly stood up and walked out of the room.

OOC: I'll post the official ultimatum in a few hours, I have to pull it off a different computer. And this RP is primarily for the nations of the Rogue Alliance and Rogue Union, but we will accept others if they TG me first.

Government Releases War Ultimatum!
Karchozian Ultimatum to Wandering Companies' Gov't
In the month of February, during the year of 2006, the government of Wandering Companies attempted a political coup to usurp control of the Rogue Alliance. The leadership of this Alliance was originally held by the Karchozian Parliament. Without warning, Wandering Companies (henceforth referred to as 'W.C.') revoked its' support of the Karchozian leadership, and quickly tried to place another country in control. The government of Romandeos did not partake, nor had prior knowledge, in this coup attempt. The Karchozian government believes that this operation was in response to recent quarrels over decisions made regarding proposals in the United Nations. Read Lots, the leader of the tri-nation alliance existing between Kill Lots, Wandering Companies and Read Lots, withdrew support from Karchozia after disputes regarding the decision made in one particular proposal. The Karchozian government responded with outrage, and argued that decisions made in the United Nations should not affect regional politics and leadership. However, Read Lots did not give back their support, so Karchozia reversed their U.N. vote. After the Read Lots endorsement was added, the Karchozian Prime Minister, Vasil D'Anglas, unchanged their U.N. vote.
However, the nation of W.C. went too far with their petty protests. The Romandeos government held control of the Rogue Alliance for more than fifteen days, as Karchozia attempted to sort through what had happened. When they discovered Wandering Companies was behind the act, they immediately demanded an explanation. When a tersely worded, and inadequate reply was received, W.C. was kicked out of the Rogue Alliance. They have since formed the “Rogue Union”, an obvious attempt to capitalize on the influence of the Rogue Alliance to gain supporters. For the past month and a half, Wandering Companies has been gathering allies so they can retaliate against the noble Karchozian people and re-enter the Rogue Alliance. Karchozia will not stand to be militarily threatened and risk the civilian casualties that would result for fighting on Karchozian soil. Thusly, they have given one more chance for Wandering Companies and Karchozia to peacefully coexist with one another. A set of demands have been drawn up by the Karchozian Parliament that must be agreed to unconditionally for any diplomatic talks to occur. Failure to do so will result, inevitably, in military mobilization and conflict.
1.The government of Wandering Companies must allow Alliance advisers to oversee their government activies, as well as their military activities. This will bring peace of mind to the citizens and politicians in the Rogue Alliance that no ill-deeds are being conceived against the Alliance within the political or military organizations.
A. To further dispel any military danger posed by Wandering Companies, they must disarm all branches of their military service, which includes: the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It also includes any classified military groups.
1. However, the police forces and political bodyguard units are allowed to remain active and at their current operational levels.
2. A Coast Guard is permitted for basic naval border security, along with a small Port Security Force, composed of the current police units and civilian volunteers.
3. Select parts of the Air Force will be allowed to remain active, pending Alliance advisor approval, to supply adequate air coverage of key civilian populations.
B. The Armed Forces (Army) will only be allowed to have 50,000 active personnel. This includes command, intelligence, medical and fighting personnel. Only a 25,000 personnel limit is permitted on the Reserves service branch.
C.The armaments allowed to be utilized by the W.C. government will be strictly monitored. All nuclear warheads will be dismantled, and combat weaponry will be carefully examined. If necessary, the W.C. will pay for all replacement troop weapons if they are needed.
Failure to abide to this ultimatum, or offer an agreeable alternative, will result in military action by the Karchozian Army and the powers at the disposal of the Rogue Alliance. If an answer is not received in 14 days, then the military action will take place.
"What!? These terms are absolutely preposterous!" exclaimed Vasili Pavilodrik, as he threw down the paper in disgust.
Reading over his shoulder, Fentrik Ivanovich nodded solemnly. "I agree. It appears the intentions of our 'peace-loving' nation aren't all that they appear..."
"But D'Anglas doesn't seem like the misleading, militant type-"
"I don't believe this was what D'Anglas was seeking." interjected Fentrik.
"What are you implying? Corruption within our government?" Vasili shook his head in disbelief, "Who would it be? The Minister of Defence?"
"If corruption is indeed present, it would run much deeper then the Defence Minister..."
Fentrik glanced up at Vasili, an anxious look upon his face. "Either way, this isn't going to be pretty."

OOC: Karchozia has allowed for me to post in this topic.
King Hedrik II snorted. “I smell a war.”
“They’ve always been militaristic, though, Your Highness.” said Ambassador Maltzov. “I recall that they had tried to declare war on us less than five years ago.”
“Ha!” laughed the king. “Twice.”
“In any case, we should try to mediate. The countries of the Rogue Alliance and Rogue Union already have huge militaries.” Maltzov paused. “Imagine the destruction that could be unleashed!” he protested.
“It seems that Wandering Companies and its two closest allies have formed an internal alliance, the ‘Leyendo Confederation’. Apparently they will always support each other, so it’s essentially one large entity.”
“Your Highness, you’re…ignoring my point.”
King Hedrik II shrugged. “My apologies. But I don’t think mediation is possible. The Leyendo Confederation desires it, but Rogue Alliance has essentially made it impossible. In either case, I don’t trust the motives of either faction.”
Maltzov nodded. Ever since Dr. Larotz had retired from the position, Dr. Pyotr Aleksandrovich Maltzov had been the king’s chief advisor in diplomatic matters.
The ambassador started again. “Has D’Anglas prohibited our intervention?”
The king nodded. “Yes. Generally, he wants us to stay out of internal matters. But this is escalating quickly, and I think that he believes the forces of Rogue Alliance are sufficient.”
“I’m not quite a military expert, but the Leyendo Confederation looks difficult to invade,” mused Maltzov. “Their geography alone is astounding. I could have sworn I even heard their leader boast of it.”
Shaking his head, King Hedrik said, “I won’t pledge any of our military forces to this matter. We’ll just see how this plays out. But I believe that war between Rogue Alliance and the Leyendo Confederation is certain.”

OOC:
As the Founder and leader of Rogue Union, I must regretful announce that I do not have time for this RP War and must postpone it indefinitely. This is not to be confused as any kind of a stall tactic, but because my father recently lost his job and my family may be moving soon. I unfortunately do not have any time to take part in this war, and must declare all posts after this one to be rendered invalid until I return to this thread. I will try to keep my nations active, but other than that, I just don’t have the time to waste with this. Therefore, as the leader of Rogue Union, I must stop this thread’s progression until I come back. No other nation (not even Karchozia) will be allowed to restart this thread, other than me, and remember, no posts, not even OOC posts will be valid until I return, which should be soon.

OOC:
So sorry, Wandering Companies, but I'm not going to delay this thread. As it's starter, I have the right to not listen to your "All further posts are invalid" complaints. I have planned for this eventuality and I have a side-story that the active nations can participate in. This side-story will occur in this thread.
The side-story involves the possibility of an internal gov't plot/ corruption conspiracy within the Karchozian gov't. More on this side-plot will be posted a little later.
Until then, this thread is still active, despite Wandering Companies feeble attempt.

So I assume that this thread will continue with the corruption side story until Wandering Companies comes back?
OOC: That is correct. I will attempt to post a good starter-post to get the ball rolling on that sometime later. Let's try and keep it a bit more IC, too.

OOC: Well, if you want to keep it more IC, you could just create an OOC thread.

Prime Minister Vasil D'Anglas walked back into his office, and wearily sat down in his chair. What am I doing? I'm pushing our country, our region, into a war that never had to occur! Vasil sighed again.
"So, you have made the announcement?" The new voice caused Vasil to jump in his seat. He glanced up and saw the voice walk out from the darkened corner in his office.
"General Lotchki. What a pleasant surprise..." said Vasil, his voice dripping in sarcasm.
General Lotchki scoffed. "You are in no position to be playing games, Minister. After the world sees our military might as we crush the Rogue Union, I will be far more powerful than you!"
"So, that's your plan?" said D'Anglas as he raised an eyebrow. "You're going to use our military to meet your twisted and demented ends? I always wondered how you got into the military... How did you ever pass the pyschological examin-"
"ENOUGH!" roared the General. "I have had enough of your games! Soon I will have no need for you. That is a day that I will take great pleasure in... The best part is, you can do nothing about it. Since your family is on 'vacation', you have no choice but to keep your mouth shut."
Vasil's eyes flashed with anger. "You wouldn't dare do a thing to my family."
"Oh," laughed Lotchki, "I will do something! But you can prevent that. If you cooperate. My, er, 'allies' will keep a good watch on you. If you so much as make one suspicious move, you and your family will no longer exist."
"And no one will think it's suspicious when I suddenly disappear?"
General Lotchki chuckled. "Of course not! Considering who my allies happen to be... Until next time, Minister!" He waved cheerily and moved towards the door, stopping just before he turned the door handle. He turned around and faced Vasil. "I almost forgot. You're orders are in the upper-left drawer on your desk. Follow them to the letter!" And with a laugh, General Lotchki left.
Orders? More like a script... I must find a way to stop the General, and find out who his 'allies' are... Vasil sighed one last time before opening his drawer and reading the instructions left to him by his captors. Because that's what they were, and he was their political prisoner.

“Strange,” growled King Hedrik II. “Karchozia has already mobilised. I thought that they were more rational than that.”
“As did I,” said Dr. Maltzov.
“Prime Minister D’Anglas isn’t acting as normally as he is. Did you notice that he looked stiff and emotionless during that announcement?”
Maltzov paused for a few seconds. “You’re right! Usually he’s rather expressive.”
“And his government has been cold to us as of late.”
“Very. Cordial, but more distanced.”
“Why?” mused Hedrik. “They certainly don’t fear us or anything.”
“We could send someone into Karchozia to see why?”
Hedrik raised an eyebrow. “Excuse me?”
Dr. Maltzov shifted. “Not a spy, sir, but a investigative reporter. A detective of some sorts.”
“Who do you have in mind?” asked Hedrik, seemingly interested.
Maltzov smiled and opened a portfolio. “Your Highness, this is Nikolai Petrovich Agnaev.”
Agnaev was a man of twenty-five years, raised in the Ruthen Tundra. He made a respectable amount of money as a journalist writing of international affairs, specifically of Karchozia. His grandparents were immigrants to Entsteig from Karchozia, and Agnaev was very knowledgeable of the country. A risk-taker, Agnaev wrote of Karchozian politics during the two so-called wars between Entsteig and the Rogue Alliance. His moustache and glasses made him look about five years older, but his eyes shone with a youthful and adventurous spirit.
Nikolai Petrovich apparently had come to the same conclusion as both King Hedrik II and Dr. Maltzov concerning Karchozia. He had already accepted the Steigian government’s request and was ready to leave Entsteig.
He could not have known what was to await in the end.
The Jaghurian Capital building stood impressively in the center of Aloria, bathing in the light of the moon. John Ralanson stood in his office, the highest room in the skyscraper, and surveyed Aloria's downtown area through one of the window walls .
"How very strange", said a voice.
"What?" asked Ralanson.
The voice, which belonged to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Robert Kruger, stepped out of the shadows and next to Ralanson.
"I said, 'how very strange'. D'Anglas isn't like this. He's no pacifist, but I've never seen him jump into a war this quickly. It isn't natural."
"I agree that it isn't natural, Bob, but who knows. Maybe he's just trying to make a statement."
"A belligerent statement, if anything", said Andrew Thurston, the Minister of Defense, as he too moved out of the shadows. "It's more of a yell-and-smack-you-upside-the-face kind of thing."
"Regardless, we need to do something", said John.
"We are their allies", said Robert. "Allies stick together."
"Not to mention that the military couldn't be better", added Andrew. "It hasn't seen much action since the war with Varyl, and it would be good for the troops to gain a little more field experience."
"Well, it's settled then", said John. "We go to war. But I think we should try and figure out what's going on. Get me D'Anglas on the secure channel."

"Uh, sir? The Prime Jaghuran is on line 2."
D'Anglas sighed. Now he would have to put on the real show...
"Okay, thank you." D'Anglas reached down and picked up one of the telephones at his desk. "D'Anglas here."
John Ralanson's voice, greeted him. "Ah, good. Are you alone, by chance?"
General Lotchki looked up from the corner and stared. He was listening to the entire conversation from another speaker.
"Uh, yes... Why do you ask, John?" D'Anglas responded, with some hesitation.
"I was just wondering if we could talk about the war against the Rogue Union. Why wasn't I completely informed of our actions beforehand?"
"Well, certain... sensitive intelligence was delivered to me. Which prompted my actions."
"And this intelligence....?"
"Erm." D'Anglas thought for a moment. "Our contact did not wish for us to... share this information. Hopefully from a diplomatic standpoint you can understand the situation."
"Sure... Well, I'll be meeting with you sometime soon so we can discuss the war in more detail. Until then, D'Anglas!"
"Until then..."
And with a click, the acting was over.

"Sir, Karchozian Commando Team Delta-4 reporting!"
Mikhail Brenochovsk, the Karchozian Minister of Defence, looked up from his desk. He was seated in his home office, in the Sienskan Peninsula, and he had called in the country's best commando team to discuss treason.
"Ah. Sergeant Obravich. How good to see you. Please, have a seat." The commandos sat down in the provided chairs. Some of them looked uncertain about what was occuring.
Minister Brenochovsk continued speaking. "Now, what I'm going to be asking some of you to do is defined as treason by the Karchozian Constitution. But it is fully necassary to discover the plot within our government."
"Sir?"
"Don't worry Sergeant, I will explain. I'm sure you're all aware of our declaration of war against the Rogue Union?" The team nodded their affirmation. "Well, the Prime Minister did not discuss this with anyone before hand. Not our allies, not our Parlaiment, not our people. Does this sound like Vasil D'Anglas to you?"
"Erm. No sir."
"Good. Because it didn't sound natural to me either. And I am very good friends with Prime Minister D'Anglas. Which leads us to one question: Why?"
They sat in silence for a few moments, thinking.
Corporal Ivanovich spoke up first. "Is someone bribing the Prime Minister?"
"Close, but not quite. I believe someone is directly controlling his actions. And I have a few hypothesis on who it might be..." responded Brenochovsk.
There was a moment of silence to build up the tension in the room.
"...General Lotchki."
"The crazy-ass general? I suppose he's insane enough to do it..." replied a shocked Lt. Korchsky.
"Why did you tell us this, sir?" asked Sgt. Obravich.
"I want you to spy on the General and on the Prime Minister. Find out what's really going on. Many military men and women could die depending on who is controlling who..."
"Sir. We'll get the job done. Delta-4, move out!"
Sgt. Obravich and the rest of Karchozian Commando Team Delta-4 got out of their seats and marched crisply out the door.
They would indeed get the job done, or die trying.
[Same scene as previous post; Thurston has left to take care of some paperwork]
"Well?" asked Kruger.
"If that was Vasil D'Anglas as I know him, then you have permission to drop a nuclear warhead on this building", said John.
"That bad, huh?"
"Vasil was never very good at acting."
"I see. So what do you think is going on?"
"Couldn't tell you. Maybe he's stressed, maybe he really does have 'sensitive information', or maybe he's got some son of a bitch shoving orders up his ass."
"Maybe we could attempt to find out", suggested Kruger.
"What do you have in mind?"
"Go to Karchozia tomorrow. Without warning. Throw D'Anglas and anybody else who is associated with this out of sync. Oh, and take a squad of Vipers* along just in case. Who knows, maybe they'll help figure this all out."
"Sounds like a good idea to me. Contact the airport and tell them to start preparing a jet for departure to Karchozia. Meanwhile, select the best squad of Vipers you can find."

"I had not expected to get into a war so quickly.." muttered the Twitchel, Travis Hayward.
"But as a member of the Alliance, Twitcheldom shall do its part to fight."
"What shall we do, sir?" Questioned his top military advisor, Hugh Williams. "The army has not had the prospect of such a large scale military action in years, and troop levels are drastically down. We barely have enough troops to hold onto the land we have!"
"Call up all of the militias. Start up the draft. Give benefits to volunteers. Do whatever it takes to get our military strong. Go, and do not fail."
With that, Williams left the room, thinking off how to solve this dilemma.
OOC: Twitchel is the name of the ruler of the country. Sort of like a sultan.
