It had been well over a decade since the last remnants of the the Earth Federation and other enemies of the Principality of Zeon had been a force to recon with. It was only through a will to sacrifice and a strong military that the Zeon finally conquered their enemies and began rebuilding their new ideal homeland within the Bierhest System.

Beirhest System (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b184/Upum/New%20MS%20Folder/m33.jpg) located within the Triangulum Galaxy.

Disdaining to live on planets as a whole, the Zeon people lived in space colonies. Large orbital stations that had a perfect enviroment and allowed for peace of mind to be reached. Unlike the pain and unknowns of living on a planet, such as earth.

However, events set in motion by the new Minister of Defense, Commandant Gideous, have allowed for a new chapter to be made in the history of Zeon.

Side 3 | Capital Colony of Zeon

On either side of the tall wood laquered doors stood guards. Their helmets shadowed their eyes as they stood as emotionless sentinels. Only at the onset of boots on metal floor did they move, coming to attention.

Both saluted as the officer in front of them appeared, dressed in his usual red uniform that was the mark of his nick-name: 'The Red Comet'.

"At-ease," the officer said, only his mouth visable since he wore a helmet. Its white reflective surface shined as the light of the corridor hit it. "Is the Commandant inside already?"

"Yes sir Lieutenant!" said one guard. He seemed to become even more strait and attentive, if that was possible. Both men seemed to be in awe of this officer, but then he was the Hero of Zeon, one of only a few.

The Lieutenant nodded. "Continue in your duty." He returned their salutes and walked through the door. He stepped into a large conference room, the ceiling vaulting several meters taller than the corridor outside. It was well lit and furnished, plush sitting couches and a large round table at its center.

There standing at the table was Commandant Gideous and Arno Zabi. Arno Zabi was a member of the ruling Zabi family, the ones that controlled and ruled the Zeon for over a century. To see him here must mean that this meeting was more than a private request from Gideous.

Both men turned to look at the officer as he wallked around the table, his black silk cloak trailing, and come to attention before them.

"Lieutenant Char Aznable (http://www.encirobot.com/gund/nemi/char06.jpg) reporting as requested," said Char. He held the saluted until Gideous waved him at-ease.

"Welcome Char, good to see you again on Side 3. Enjoy being back?" asked Gideous. He was about a head taller than Char, Gideous, and his stark black hair and green eyes burrowed into Char.

"Yes Commandant I am. I've been busy supressing those rebels still located on Earth," responded Char, using Gideous's title rather than be more personnal as they were use too; mostly because of Arno Zabi's pressence.

Gideous smiled when he sensed Char's discomfort. He motioned for Char to sit and then sat himself. He nodded his head at Arno Zabi.

"Young Arno is here at his request. He, as you no doubt know, has been raised to command and over our expansion into the outer reaches of Bierhest. And it is that which brings us together today," said Gideous. He turned to Arno Zabi and gave a 'continue please' gesture.

Arno Zabi, his brown hair long and floppish, turned to a far wall. He clicked a few switchs on the table in front of him and the lights dimmed. A projection appeared. It was of the Bierhest System: all eleven of its planets, twenty-eight moons, 342 research and resource sattalites, and all 34 of the massive space colonies.

A small red arrow appeared and pinpointed a small spot on the picture.

"As you know the Zeon Intelligence and Research Section has been finding the extremeties of our space. Thanks in part to our scientists working out very effective sub-light engines. In accordance with that many missions have been sent out. Among them a large number of probes," began Arno Zabi. His accent thick with an inbred authority.

Char nodded as he spoke. He knew of the program, having test piloted many of the newer mobile suit models that I&R produced.

"Our probe program started...fourty years ago," said Arno Zabi.

Char stumbled for a moment then composed himself. The space exploration program had begun less than twenty years before. Or so that was the official report.

Arno Zabi continued as if he had not noticed Char's disbelief.

"It is from these and our new effective means of mapping space, that we have reached a high point in our knowledge of the Galaxy we inhabit." Both Gideous and Char leaned forward at this.

Arno continued. "Gentlemen, we have effective mapped the entire Triangulum Galaxy."

Both men were silent, dumbstruck by this massive discovery and their minds quickly running through the possibilities such knowledge could produce. Char stumbled through many possibilities of finding other planets. Gideous however was thinking of more ambitious plans.

"And it is that which brings me to you Lieutenant Aznable. You are trusted by Commandant Gideous and are one of the best mobile suit pilots Zeon has, especially in space combat. A veteran of over thirty major battles with Earth Federation forces," said Arno Zabi. "We want you to lead an expiditionary force into another system."

Gideous smiled and nodded, looking at Char. "This is a great oppertunity Char! Your rank will be increased and once there you could be promoted to a governership even!"

Char nodded. Then he looked at Arno Zabi. "What can I expect to meet out there?"

"Honestly?" asked Arno Zabi. "We do not know."

"Great, I always hated knowing the odds," responded Char. He looked back at the display and watched the small miniture planets swirl around.

"Vitalis command, this is Zaku Flight A-2; we're coming to our checkpoint."

Orbiting over a vast red dust swirling planet more than two dozen massive ships sat. The flair of rocket thrusters, signs of a mobile suit's rocket pack, were seen moving around the small fleet. Several Zakus and a Dom floated out before the fleet.

The flagship, Pride of Vitalis, sat in the center, its massive main guns aimed at the wide unknown beyond which the Zaku team were moving.

"Affirmative Zaku Flight A-2, watch out for any anomalies; our information at this point it rather limited," responded a crackled voice over the comm. "Commander Aznable says that he'll be joining you in his suit momentarily."

The Zaku team captain laughed. "Couldn't wait to get out here could he?" However military procedure righted itself and the man coughed over the line, excusing the comment.

From the belly of the Pride of Vitalis shot a red Zaku II. It was the 'Red Comet', the personnal mobile suit of Char Aznable the Hero of Odessa and Kharmack.

"Zaku Flight Leader, this is Commander Aznable; what does it look like out here?" crackled Char's voice over the comm.

A smile cracked over the Zaku leader's face as he answered, honored that his commander and Hero would come to join them. "Looks fine sir. I think we won't find any signs of anything here. The scientists report said that they had a weigh-station out here with an observitory but I can't find it."

"Doesn't matter, we'll be leaving the system within an hour. We're just enjoying the view before we launch in light-speed," responded Char. He brought his suit to a relative halt over the planet. It was red. His color. He felt at peace, knowing that the last planet he saw in his home system was the same as his name-sake.

A comm opened up and a small vid-screen with Lieutenant Miel turned on. Her long braided blonde hair to one side. "Sir, all ships have checked their engines and all minor repairs have been made."

Char nodded. So soon, he thought. He looked at Miel. "Have all mobile suit flights return to their mother ships. We'll move out in half an hour."

"Yes sir," said Miel, she saluted and the vid screen turned off.

Char kept his mobile suit floating, watching as other soldiers and their mobile suits went back to their respective ships. All the time he kept his eyes barely open, just enjoying the sense of weightlessness within outer space.

One hour and twenty minutes later the Zeon task force left the Bierhest System; their destination: the unknown.
