OOC: Please don't tell me 'This is impossible because your such a small nation.' I am receiving funding from my two other main nation accounts being Valens Res Publica, and Sparta Infensus as well as this nations own military spending budget which should be more than enough funding for R&D. Though as for comparison to the F-22. The US Military was funding Two companies. This is one nation, for one jet which should be about half the price of the the R&D for the F-22 just add a few billions. Thus giving me a sum of 16 Billion R&D total. This jet is also an export for other nations to test and then ship/fly back. As I don't have access to the NS Drafting room this is more of a Give&Take thread after nations evaluate and give in thier own 2 cents.

The XF-24

// History //

As the cost of a F-22 being simply outrageous and it's ability to maneuver and payload hampered it was viewed as a waste of money and so a fighter to replace that state of the art was made to, 1. Fill the needs of Sparta Infensus & The Valens Res Publica; 2. Provide more bang for your buck per-say. This fighter is the most maneuverable, fast, technologically advanced, lightest, and heaviest payload plane for the money you spend.

// General //

Crusader Weapons and Full-Spectrum Electronics were called upon by Sparta Infensus and Valens Res Publica to replace the F-22 as a superior fighter. Being able to carry more of a payload. Go faster; maneuver much, MUCH better, and have 3/4ths the RADAR cross section, and have a larger payload. These were the requirements and they were filled perfectly with this beauty of a plane. Having never been tested as both countries lack the proper facilities they now look outward to different Nations and Countries to combat test this plane.

// Airframe/Construction //

Airframe Makeup: 55% Titanium-Aluminide; 20% Super light durable plastics and polymers, 25% Al-Y-Ni Alloy, within a honeycomb frame

The XF-24 uses a tri-surface configuration; with dual RAM coated canards, One aspect of the XF-24 is its "switchblade wings" as their function is similar to that of a switchblade knife. At approximately 398 knots or 458 mph, the outer, forward-swept portion of the wing folds inward, leaving just the rearward-sweeping wings. At the same time, the twin ruddervators, normally in a "V" shape, fold down; so they are level with the aircraft's other wings. It is this wing configuration that gives the most Bald Eagle its incredible maneuverability across such a wide range of speeds. With the wingtips deployed, it has all the advantages of forward-swept wings, but since the 'switchblades' retract as speed increases (and are fully stowed well prior to mach transition), extreme wingtip twisting does not occur. The clean delta or spade configuration enables efficient, low-resistance high mach travel. Also the Canards feature leading flaps, flaperon's, and ailerons as do the normal wings. Deploying flaps causes a large nose-down pitching moment, to alleviate this effect swing-wing canard surface which swept forwards to counteract the effect of deploying flaps as to also give it extra lift at lower speeds and at higher speeds it makes this aircraft the most maneuverable ever made; a fighter unparalleled by any other.

// Propulsion/Engine //

Full-Spectrum Electric XF-121 Turboram engines, rated at 15,978 lbf (dry) each, with a 3D thrust vectoring control, allowing for a high amount of maneuverability. Which makes it a fighter unparalleled by any other. These engines are essentially normal Turbofan engines with a Ramjet built in. As once a speed where the Ramjet can effectively be used; being mach 1+ the turbo fan is turned off to use only the ramjet where the plane can then effectively reach speeds of Mach 5+

Thrust-to-weight Ratio: 8/1
Engine Weight (individual): 3,294 lbs

// Electronics/Avionics //

The XF-24 utilizes the fly-by-optics system for the highest maneuverability possible, necessary in Air Superiority. This aircraft's internals consists of the HUD being built into the helmet. A small aiming reticule pops up when a target is within machine gun range in which you can control the guns circular diameter in all directions up to 33 degrees by looking and the gun will follow. The aiming reticule also pops up when you manually want to aim a missile with software capable of being coupled to the Helmets transmitter; which can as mentioned manually control a missile where you are looking. Otherwise it is gone to display a normal 360 degree hud. Which when you look around scans that area with active radar; diverting power from the forward looking sensors to where you are looking to technically give you active radar as far as you can turn your head. Other important information are upon the TTFT displays along with 3D layouts compiled from satellite imagry, are your basics. Information is relayed to the pilot through 2 Super-High resolution TTFT screen, with most of the crucial information available through integrated avionics, in a dual screen configuration . (one main, one secondary screen’s) AVRS (Advanced Voice Recognition System) capability is available and is the primary source of changing displayed information instead of using the touch screens and distracting the pilot from his main task being controlling the plane. Thus allowing the pilot the maximum adaptability to the situation. Using a beyond visual range targeting system known as the AN-AGP 112 which allows the pilot of the XF-24 to control his attacks in a full 360 degree radius. Though the active radar which has a forward looking radius of 130 degrees and farther than any other RADAR for an aircraft known makes it the newest predator of the skies. A AN/ALQ-210 ECM pod; to hide it’s self from radar using planes, the ALQ-210 using TTFT’s to reduce it’s weight in comparison to ALQ-131 ECM Pod used by the USAF the by 85% and increase it’s effectiveness by nearly 800%! A EALR-52E Radar Warning Receiver which gives an early warning to a possible lock on or imminent lock on; as well as increasing it’s effectiveness in comparison to a current USAF Radar Warning Receiver by nearly 915% also through the use of TTFT’s! Despite that it comes ridden with area’s to store flares and chaff of the users preference. None is sold stock with the plane as none has been developed by the country and there are no alliances to provide Spiritu Sante with chaff or infrared flares cheaply.

// Weapons/Armament //

The XF-24 has 6 Bays. 2 On each side meaning 4 parallel side bays and 2 ventral weapons bays. The 4 parallel side bays are meant for the carrying of missiles; and the 2 ventral for bombs. The ventral bays have stations for 4 bombs. 2 bombs in each bay which opens up a second before dropping to keep the radar signature low. The two bombs are in a vertical line, one behind the other.

Each side missile bay has a rotating 4 missile 6-shooting like loader. Meaning when 1 missile is dispensed the loader is rotated towards the next missile. This means (4 x 4) and 16 missiles total with 8 more internal in a dual horizontal missile configuration. Which means four missiles, two missiles upon a single hard-point one behind the other. (4 x 2)

A single retractable 20mm, 6 barreled M61 Vulcan retractable Minigun which is located directly under the cockpit; directly before the ventral bomb-bay.

A single XF-24 was readied for takeoff as all of it's external hardpoints and internal bomb-bays were filled with extra fuel tanks. Which readied it with more than enough fuel for over NS continental travel and so as it taxied off the runway with it's provided pilot who would then as it arrived in Tarlag would instruct a pilot how to fly it for thier own evaluation.

He put the two engines at maximum thrust after receiving clearance; the vectoring nozzles could be seen wriggling as the pilot was fidgiting around with the controls as he sped off the runway and took off. The raised his landing gear and swept the Canards from thier forward position to a swept backwards position as it sped off towards it's destination.

-Update-

A small radio transmission was sent to the XF-24 'Bald Eagle' which had just taken off. It was told to RTB immidately as maintinance was to be done upon the engine. Reducing weight further by upwards to 160 kg or 1,015 lbs upon the engines alone. This metal which would make up almost the entire engine, would also make higher speeds available without risking melting the vector's.

Several minutes later as the plane landed and was harbored into the hanger. It was immidately ushered the top engineers whom opened up the engine bay and tore out the engines. Immidately beginning de-construction of the old ones; and re-construction of the engines with these new metals.

This process would only take about 12 hours as these engineers worked non-stop to get this plane off the ground the same day.

Mach 5+ seems a little extreme for this large a fighter. I would tend to think that it would rip apart.

I would recommend putting it on the NS Draftroom for advice in the design.

OOC: With the use of the Ramjet's it's possible but not reccommended if you want to keep the jet in one peice.

The Republic of Aralonia wishes to test one of these aircraft as well. Aralonia's current fighter fleet is made up primarily with aging [F-35 equivalent], and we would like to advance our fighter technology.

In return, we can, with permission, outfit the test model with a retractable modified 35mm coilgun instead of the 20mm Vulcan. At high-speeds in dogfighting, the Vulcan round would take too long to reach the target, while the high-velocity coilgun would be able to hit the target with the kinetic energy of a missile.

A middle aged man upon a lighweight laptop in the middle of the Auronautics designs room shot back an E-Mail after noticing and reading his new E-Mail from Aralonia. This designer was extremely happy to see people take an interest in his super-high manuverability state of the art fighter. He then began typing up a response in Microsoft Outlook to send back after giving it a 512 bit encryption over a VPN tunnel.

"Spiritu Sante welcoms this offer with open arms and will send one as soon as maintinance upon the engines is completed to further reduce weight and increase the maximum top speed as well as normal speeds."

The engineering team in Hangar 'Whiskey-Hotel-Oscar-Romeo-Echo' finished upon 4/5 planes. Now with the entire engineering force coupled upon one plane this engine rebuild on the last plane should take only 3 hours. Though 1 of these super-planes was rolled out into broad daylight. Sporting a large amount of extra fuel tanks as it taxied onto the runway. "This is callsign Messiah, requesting permission to take-off on runway 4." Air-Traffic control responding "Permission granted." and the XF-24's throttle was set to full as the XF-121 Turboram engines roared forcing the plane forward and creating a G-force so great that the pilot could barely move his head. Though the G-Suit he was wearing protected him from immense G-forces which would be expended upon the pilot from Aralonia whom would be tought how to fly this sexy beast by the current pilot.

The plane lifted off into the sky; and it was quite a sight as it shot off into the Dusk of day.

---- ----

The plane was taken out of the hanger as the last XF-24 engine maintinence had finished. Now there were only 2 more of these planes available to loan out for testing perposes.

This XF-24 rolled out of the hangar mid-day going trough a procedure just like the plane that had just taken off before it as it roared off into the sky.

The second to last plane was hauled out of the hanger several minutes after the one before it had taken off. As it also repeated the procedure of the planes before it. The engines roaring and the blinding heat produced the engines could be seen as it sped off the runway and soared into the sky.

Only one more plane remained. The engines and other parts were inspected extremely carefully making sure failure of any mechanic peices impossible if not near impossible. The pilot meanwhile; sat on a lawn chair next to his plane Senior Airman Robbins lay idle staring at his plane waiting for his call to fly this beut and teach the Senior Airman at some distant nation how to fly her.

[New Saris Military Base]

“Sir, we have one aircraft incoming. Identified as Spiritu Sante XF-24E test model.” Comms turned in his chair and looked at the base commander.

“Very well. Clear him for entry on Runway 34L, and tell him to head to hangar Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot after landing.” The base commander smirked to himself. _New technology, eh? Don't know what those boys up at R&D are yapping on about. Those F-35 are about 20 years old already, why the hell aren't they upgrading them here in Mother Aralonia? Oh well. New aircraft._ The aircraft slowed to 55 meters per second and landed gracefully on the runway of the airbase. “Very well. Welcome to Aralonia, [insert pilot name here].”

Pilot Senior Airman Shepard responded. "Thank you, if you do have another pilot from your own country in mind to test this baby I am here to instruct them. Though if you are perfectly fine with me flying we can start the tests ASAP. Though here's a quick over-view of some things that make this plane better than the rest. First off, these XF-121 Turboram engines which can be switched to take use of thier built in Ramjet's at speeds upward of Mach 5. Second, the canards are hydroulic controlled to pivot forward for increased lift and control at low speeds. Which means it can possibly be carrier bound; though that is untested. Thrird; the wings them selves which sport the 'W' shape as well; switchblade inwards to increase manuverability and less drag at high Mach speeds without risking the wings to bend and or snap off in super high speed rolls, and dives. Fourth, the Ruddervator's which fold down at approximately 458 mph to improve manuverability as well as decrease wind resistance at high speeds. Fifth; the payload is the highest for this type of stealthy aircraft which makes it capable to engage up to 12 aircraft at a single time with a Missile Only internal load out. With 8 missiles held in the internal bomb bay; can be dropped out and sent after 8 different targets at one time while the 4 side bay missiles do the same. Also if you are lucky enough you can get 13 targets at once if you manage to get some unlucky bastard within range of the M61 20mm Minigun located here." Seinor airman Shepard pointed a small area under the cockpit which seemed to be outlined. "This area opens up to reveal the cannon to rip apart any aircraft for dog-fighting. Sixth, the AN/ALQ-210 ECM pod to disguise this aircraft from any RADAR using aircraft or stations. It is nearly 800% more effective than the USAF used ALQ-131 ECM and is also 80+ % lighter. Seventh, and almost last the EALR-52E warns of any kind of RADAR, IR, or LIDAR/LADAR lock on giving 'Lock on Possible', 'Lock on Imminent', and 'Locked on'. Which will never happen thanks to the RAM coating on this thing and radar signature less than a duck normally. Finally, and eighth AN-AGP 112 allows the pilot of the XF-24 to control his attacks in a full 360 degree diameter. Though the active radar which has a forward looking diameter of 130 degrees."
