To the Spacefaring Nations of the World:

The Republic of Aralonia wishes to seek authorization from space agencies of the world to launch the parts for a Tactical High-Energy Laser into orbit for trade with another nation. Since we are not aware of current space weapons laws, we wish to seek authorization to avoid any sort of complications. If not, then we can use basic sea-based methods to transport the weapons.

Dozens of nations have plenty of orbital weapons under their disposal already, and there are no international laws considering any type of weapons, atleast not written ones. Except some UN acts perhaps, but no one cares about them anyways. You're free to do whatever you want, really.

Except aim those weapons at Madnestan.

The weapons are fully disassembled and are being transferred from one location to another, being sold to another nation in exchange for nuclear fusion drive technology.

Please be advised that you are overstepping your bounds. Claiming to have rights to determine who can launch weapons into space is beyond your dominion. We specifically requested these systems. We ask you to stand down. We are more than capable of backing this up. We already have orbital weapons systems in place. Also, attacking a much smaller nation shows cowardice of the worst sort. Interfering with the launch of this system will be considered an act of war.

Aralonia because of your cowardice we are dismantling the systems you offered to us in trade. Failure to deliver is a sign of incompetence.

Note: Also consider that you are far future tech. The system being launched would be about the year 2050. It is based on SDI Strategic Defense Initiative technology-- modern tech. We are PMT-- Post Modern Technology mostly.

OOC: What a sissy nation you are! Asking permission for something so basic as building new weapons, and then actually giving up when someone whines! :p But you choice, naturally.

And DEFCON 100 would be more like that of... Tadjikistan? Monaco? Because Switzerland is actually quite well defended.

OOC: The lasers are being transported from one nation to another. Aralonia's not putting a single fully assembled weapon into orbit.

EDIT OOC: And then again I was wrong. The other nation wanted to assemble an orbital defense station, didn't know that.

It appears that most of the nations who have contacted me agree - launching from the New Saris spaceport in 15 hours, we waiting for the station and the launcher to come in line with each other to minimise the necessity of having to drag the systems to the station.

The misunderstanding has been cleared up. Unfortunately, as we have had our satellites attacked in space twice, we think it is necessary to protect ourselves from ICBMs.

We are fearful that someone may launch ICBMs from the Pacific using submarines. This has happened more than once near our cities. While these missiles have not been specifically targeted at us, they have been targeted at land based nations, we are worried that we need protection against incoming weapons.

Campfires are dangerous and are banned according to the Olduvai Convention. Any use of such devices shall result in the immediate clubbing of everyone of your citizens.

OOC:I'd back you up, and I'm pretty sure I could muster quite a bunch of nations to join our cause should it ever go to that.

OOC: Are you Future or Modern Tech? If it does come to war, my thoughts spring to a 'two-pronged attack' - while you beat up the ships, we (and undoubtedly the other nations who join us) can start invading the nation proper.

We have no problem with your launch efforts. It is your right to build these weapons, it is your right to sell them. However, we find your use of open channels to announce your launch quite unprofessional, and dangerous. You are launching a weapons system with quite a bit of destructive potential, and you just let every two bit dictator and terrorist know exactly where and when it would go up. Could you imagine the carnage if they compromised the launch? We would recommend that the utmost care be taken before you put this bird up. Just a friendly piece of advice.
