Wilhelmsborough Presents: Armada One!

Prince William looked out upon Sevastopol Bay, a mixture of awe and joy etched on his face. For there, sitting at the ready in those waters, was a fleet. A massive fleet. A fleet so large that it seemed to go on and on into the distance.

This was no ordinary fleet. What floated here was a culmination of many years of defense spending.

On the mainland, there was an incredible crowd of citizens that had come out to see these ships. They waved banners with the Arm and Sword and threw confetti in the air. The mood was of celebration.

And rightfully so, thought Prince William. he climbed up to a podium where a stand and microphone awaited him. He stepped up the the podium. Immediately, the crowd gave a shout of joy at the sight of their Prince. The noise was deafening.

The Prince grinned and waved his arms down as to indicate that he wanted quiet. The audience immediately went silent.

But suddenly, the Prince raised his arms in the air again and the audience exploded in shouts and cheers! The Prince laughed out loud. Then he lowered his arms and the crowd finally went silent.

He spoke into the mic. "Hahaha! Citizens of Wilhelmsborough, I am honored that so many of you would come out here on this fine afternoon!"

The crowd clapped and cheered.

William continued. "Now, I'm sure that you wish to know what all these ships are doing out in the harbor."

The crowd was abuzz with anticipation.

"All of those ships are OURS!"

The effect of those words were instantanious. Great cheer broke out that could be heard for miles away."

The Prince grinned. "Yes, you heard me correct! They are all part of the Principality Navy! However, these ships aren't going to be seperated and divided amongst the Fleets. No, they're all going to stick together in a single group!"

The crowd gasped in shock and surprise. They knew that their Prince was unpredictable, but this was an absolute bombshell!

The Prince raised a hand and pointed it out towards the ships. The audience leaned forward in anticipation for what the Prince had to say. He did not disappoint.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you: ARMADA ONE!"

It would be an understatement to describe the uproar in the crowd, only that the outpouring of joy far surpassed when the Prince revealed that the ships belonged to their country!

It took several minutes for the crowd to calm down. By then they were much more subdued. They were still very happy, but they were subdued as well.

The Prince continued "This grand fleet, of exactly thirteen-hundred ships, will be under the direct command of Admiral of the Navy Vittorio Augustine!"

The crowd clapped and cheered. Admiral Vittorio waved sheepishly to the grand multitude.

"And now, Armada One will be going out into the world. Other nations need not worry. It's only a shakedown cruise. It'll allow the crews to get used to their new ships."

"They will take a path out of the Bosperous Strait, into the Medittanean Sea, before exiting by way of the Strait of Gibraltar, where they will finally enter wide open waters."

"After they get into the ocean, they're going to our Pacifice colonies Machinist (on the Jaluit Atoll). and OA Boy Scouts (on the island of Tubuai). The sight of such an Armada will serve as a reminder of our power!"

Again there was clapping and cheering, and waving of banners.

Suddenly, a few ships began to move.

"They're leaving now! Everybody wish their crews well!"

GOODBYE! GOOD LUCK! Shouted the jubillent crowd.

The Prince stepped off the podium and went over to Admiral Augustine.

"Admiral, they're leaving now. You better hurry if you want to catch your boat."

The Admiral smiled. "I've got a helicopter that'll get me to the Schadenfreude, sir."

The Prince nodded. "Of course you do, Admiral." He clasped the Admiral's right shoulder. "Good luck, Augustine."

Augustine nodded. "Thank you sir."

With that, he turned and stepped off the podium. A car was waiting nearby to take him to his helicopter.

Well this looks alot like an ordinary, although gigantic fleet....

[OOC: If you don't mind me saying so, that fleet can be crushed without any heavier ships. Battleships are alive and kicking in NS warfare, and without a few heavy gun boats like battleships, or dreadnoughts, that fleet can get trounced.]

You have no oiler/supply ships... and i'm guessing you aren't going the SD (thankfully) route. What jets do you have on them carriers?

[Not going to get into the logistical improbabilities of that entire fleet being able to be deployed at once, but wow, lots of nice shiny spending on the navy.]

[OOC:He still can get firepower without going down the SD route btw. In NS combat, many ships have been built to survive missile hits, and CIWS and AA missles only increase the chaces of a ships survability. With all the missile boats here, You should emply some BB firepower]

Location: Bosperous Strait

CIC of the Flagship of the 1st Fleet: Iron Maiden

"ADMIRAL!"

Fleet Admiral Ernest Halsey jumped up in shock at the sound of the Lieutenant at the COM Station calling out for him. He quickly recovered though, and strode over to the Lieutenant.

The Lieutenant, thoroughly intimidated by the sight of a Fleet Admiral baring down on him, cut right to the chase. "Sir, I've just recieved a message from Admiral Augustine!"

At once the CIC went quiet. If Admiral of the Navy Vittorio Augustine was calling, something had to be going on.

Halsey furrowed his eyebrows. "What's the message?"

The Lieutenant gulped. "The Admiral says to clear the path through the Strait! He says that...Armada One is coming."

The Fleet Admiral's eyes bugged out of their sockets. As a high ranking officer, he knew what Armada One was, as well as its significance to the Navy.

Immediately he turned to the CIC crew. "Alright you heard the message! Get the fleet out of the Strait! We got thirteen-hundred ships coming, and they're going to be VERY PISSED if they're delayed!!"

The CIC exploded into activity. Messages were sent out to all the ships in the fleet. Submarines surfaced and divers returned to their frigates.

Quickly, the 18 ships of the 1st Fleet sailed out of the Strait-just as the first craft of Armada One started to enter it.

"My God, look at it!" gasped the Rear Admiral.

Hundreds and hundreds of ships, all in a line sailed into the Strait. Fleet Admiral Ernest Halsey could only watch in jealousy and awe at the vast multitude of craft before him. From the numerous Oliver Hazard Perry Frigates, to the massive shape of the Intrepid-class Supercarriers.

Then the Flagship Schadenfreude passed by. At once, the 1st Fleet, the crew of the Iron Maiden, and the Fleet Admiral himself raised their hands in salute. Halsey knew that this was Augustine's ship.

The crews of the 1st Fleet and Armada One waved in to each other as the Armada sailed into the strait and out of sight.

-----------------------
Armada One had now left the Black Sea.

Now, it was making it's way towards the Aegean Sea, where there were several islands, and possibly a couple nations in there as well.

Again, lack of logistics. You probably want at least 150 supply class ships to keep your fleet at sea, and your going to want a lot of smaller cargo ships to travle to and fro.

Well I don't know of anybody that sells tanker ships.

EDIT: A lot of these ships are nuclear-powered anyway!

OOC: I take it I'm the only one who doubts the viability of this fleet to Wilhelmsborough's economy? Let alone him running this fleet and other fleets?
Criticism comments aside, it's a big fleet. But what exactly is the point of having it as opposed to say, more manouverable and smaller groups of ships that can be more readily moved about and deployed?

Make your own? Nuclear ships still require food, water, ammo. You will need multi-product replenishment ships if you wish your crew to survive at sea...

Dostanuot Loj: I took this Armada One as his one big fleet with no other ships in his navy... maybe I was wrong

geneticon sells them, i'm sure others do (might be harder to find, but logistics are the most important part of any military operation. Sure, you can make your own water, but what about food? What about resupplies of uranium? Run out of ammo?). Also, a large fleet is vulnerable to a nuclear strike, moreso due to the fact it will probably be tightly grouped.

I have decided to halt the movement of Armada One, due to failure to provide proper supply ships. They will have to wait in the Aegean Sea while the Principality purchases some tanker and supply ships for support.

The grand armada slowed to a stop. They had such high expectations, but reality had a way of being annoying. At present, their orders were to stay put.

The Oliver Hazard Perry-class Anti-Sub Escort Frigates and Seawolf-class Submarines positioned themselves to create a perimeter around the Armada. Divers from the OHP-class Frigates suited up and jumped into the water. Their job was to visually spot enemy targets which couldn't be seen at close range, and relay their coordinates to the ships.

For now however, Armada One would wait for its support group to arrive.

---------------

Vittorio Augustine was worried about his situation. He knew that there were a couple nations here in the Aegean Sea, including one on the island of Lesbos, the nation Sapphic Lesbos, where the Queen of said nation was currently getting married to somebody from Maraque.

Augustine frowned. What a time to launch a fleet! Especially around the time of a royal wedding, when security in and around the island would be higher than normal!

The Admiral slumped back into his chair. Hopefully, Sapphic Lesbos wouldn't notice them. Perhaps they wouldn't look out and notice that there was a fleet of thirteen-hundred ships right outside their door.

After what seemed like an eternity of waiting, the supply ships for Armada One had finally arrived. As usual, the Principality government had spared no expense in obtaining the best supply ships for it's grand fleet.

Seven hundred ships in all had been purchased. There were one hundred and fifty Wave Class Royal Fleet Auxiliary Large Fleet Tankers. These ships would provide fuel that the ships needed for long trips at sea.

Then there were the two hundred and fifty T-AKR 310 Class Fast Strategic Sealift Ships. These craft would supply the Armada with important supplies such as food, water, and medical resources, just to name a few.

Finally, were the three hundred AOE 6 Supply Class Fast Combat Support Ships. These ships would provide ammunition and secondary fuel provisions while on missions. The ships are also capable of defending themselves, and are equipped with machine guns and surface-to-air missiles. If need be, they could join the Armada in combat.

In all, the addition of these seven hundred ships pushed the size of Armada One to exactly two thousand craft, not counting the thousands of aircraft aboard the carriers.

Admiral of the Navy Vittorio Augustine grinned. Finally the Armada was properly equipped and ready to ship out to sea. He gave the orders out to all 2,000 ships that they would be leaving the Aegean Sea immediatly.

5 minutes later, the mighty Armada set sail on a southward course. They would circle around the island of Crete, and then sail west towards the Strait of Gibraltar, and the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

OOC:

Because I don't do aliens and space stuff. I have no space cruisers or star fighters. Just naval craft and airships. I play present day-type technology. You seem to be playing at a level where aliens are attacking you.

Now, is that the case or isn't it? Out of character you can tell me. Because if that is the case, then I'm not going to RP with you because that tech level is out of my league. The Armada would have no chance against aliens, and would end up destroyed.

Now, if this were something closer to this modern time, and set on Earth, I would participate. If the enemy were another country, then you bet I would race to the rescue!

But I don't know that. Out of character, please tell me who is attacking and from where.

Now that that's been taken care of, let's check in on the progress of Armada One.

----------------------

The mighty armada cleared the islands of the Aegean Sea. It wasn't easy. The islands may have been small, but they were numerous and trecherous. It took longer than expected to clear them.

As they emerged into more open waters, the fleet began to organize. The Seawolf submarines and the Oliver Hazard Perry frigates formed a perimeter around the other ships while the aircraft carriers placed themselves in the center of everything.

At present, they were nearing the island of Crete. Their task was to circle around the long way before heading westward.

Anyone from that island, looking out to sea at that moment, might have been surprised to see a vast number of ships approaching.
