It has been only two months since the General Secretary enacted the New Conscription Acts (NCAs), and the basic training of the recruits has already been completed.

The NCAs put forth many changes, such as a mandatory 1/30 of the population being standing military personnel and the admission of women into the military, but the most staggering change comes from Paragraph 4, Subsection 3 of the NCAs:

"The entire unemployed population of Dreqban will be immediately conscripted"

Now that the recruits have been trained, it is clearly evident why the economy has been geared towards Arms Manufacturing for so long, the standing Dreqbanian Military needs every gun it can get its hands on.

Oh, the march is starting, and the General Secretary himself is standing on the Leaders' Platform on the side of the road. He is saluting to the troops as they pass; this is going to be a full day of excitement!

The General Secretary, with the Chancellor-Viceroy and all of the Government Ministers are watching as the troops march by with the sunlight gleaming off of their guns and uniforms. Helicopters, fighters, and bombers are flying overhead by the thousands, and tanks are gliding down the street. A glorious day indeed!

It's now time for the ceremonial gunfire salute!

<guns report>

Amazing! Just amazing! The troops are so overcome with excitement and with reverence for our great Leaders that they are actually rushing to the Leaders' Platform! They're crowding around the Chancellor-Viceroy!? <pause> Oh my LORD, he's been SHOT! <sobs> The Chancellor-Viceroy of Dreqban has been shot! More people are rushing to the scene! Medics are now arriving...

<A 12-alpha-1 badge General steps in>

General <barks>: Cameras off! NOW!

We will update you as more information becomes available. The only question now is, how did this happen? Did a soldier's salute bullet hit the Chancellor-Viceroy? Or did some rogue nation use this occassion to terrorize our great country? And if that's the case, will they claim responsibility?

[External Affairs Ministry - City of Omeurta, Legislative Capitol of Hrstrovokian Republic of Rahgoul]

Sadrinz Klasyerkoff strode quickly down the hall, turning gracefully into an antechamber and slowing her pace. Ahead of her now, behind intimidating doors of oak, lay the offices of the Minister. Klasyerkoff, a young woman of just 27 years, who had risen quickly through the Diplomatic Corps in the recent years of progressive politics inside Hrstrovokia, held a bulging folder clapsed firmly under her arm.

The Military Guard greeted Sadrinz with a quick salute, not out of any recognition of her position, for Klasyerkoff was merely another pretty young nobody to them, but rather because it was their duty. She halted briefly, beaming a bright smile, and proceded through the doors now held open for her.

Klasyerkoff's role in the sprawling labyrinth of the Ministry was to brief the Minister daily on possible flashpoints across the globe. She had followed events in Dreqban with a certain trepidation; the conscription, the rearmament program, the militarisation. She felt of all the potential disasters and meltdowns ready to pop, Dreqban was at the top of the list. Her list atleast.

Sitting infront of a large bank of LCD screens showing feeds from news channels and stock markets, the Minister sat. "What have you got?" Sadrinz felt his eyes gaze across her entire body, along her slender, porcelein skin to her pert breasts, to her hips. It really pissed her off. He was old enough to be her grandfather.

"The situation in Dreqban is highly unstable. In the middle of a military parade, the Chancellor-Viceroy was shot. Possible assasination, if so, most likely by factions supported by the General Secretary, whose closest political opponent would have been the Chancellor-Viceroy. He may also be trying to further extend his grip on Dreqban. With the assasination of the CV, powerful emergency acts will be swiftly ordered through - martial law, secret police phone taps, internment without trial - the works."

The Minister was looking, but not really listening. Inside his mind, sexual scenario's were played out between himself and the pretty young thing. Sadrinz was used to this sort of thing.

"I see. What do you suggest?" said the Minister, trying to sound interested but failing miserably.

"I suggest any Hrstrovokian interests we have in Dreqban or the surrounded region should be put on alert."

"Excellent. Dismissed."

As Sadrinz walked back to her wing of the building, she regretted not saying what she really thought, that Hrstrovokia should attempt to put a halt to Dreqban militarism, which would eventually invade someone or something. But it wasnt the time, or place. Until it was too late, Sadrinz knew, it would neither be the time or place.

It has been just a bit over 17 hours since the Chancellor-Viceroy was shot during a military parade honoring both the new recruits and the hallowed Leaders of our great nation.

And, with this, I have some unfortunate news: Chancellor-Viceroy Bâro Põdnalï has died from a bullet wound to the head approximately 4 hours ago.

Allegations had been made against our most esteemed General Secretary that had insinuated that he plotted against the Chancellor-Viceroy, but the autopsy directly contradicts these rumors. The bullet found lodged in the Chancellor-Viceroy's head was a 7.62 mm size bullet. The only guns available in Dreqban currently are the H&K MP5, the Infinity Magnum, and the XM29. This makes it impossible for any person of Dreqbanian nationality to have assassinated the Chancellor-Viceroy. Furthermore, the Chancellor-Viceroy was married to the General Secretary's sister, further cementing their friendship.

Hopefully those nations that have recently closed off relations with Dreqban due to this tragedy will realize that it is just that, a tragedy, and will reserve their unfounded allegations to situations that call for them.

The General Secretary released the following statement at a press conference earlier today:

<begin video clip>

(General Secretary standing at a podium)
"This incredibly sad day in our nation's history <pauses> will not ever be forgotten. <pauses> It is most unfortunate that other nations feel that I had something to do with this. I know a denial will most likely make things worse, but I feel I have no choice. I will not attempt to give reasons, as it will merely cheapen the denial, but I will say the following: I honestly had absolutely nothing to do with Bâro's death. I will be replacing him as soon as possible, with someone with his tastes in policy, in an attempt to keep him with us forever. I also declare today Bâro Põdnalï Day, in his honor. Thank you.

<end video clip>

An evidently emotional General Secretary, in remembrance of his friend, the Chancellor-Viceroy. More to come later.

Dreqban,

The people of Hrstrovokia are greatly saddended and shocked at the untimely death of Chancellor-Viceroy Bâro Põdnalï. We assure the people of Dreqban that every attempt shall be made on the part of Hrstrovokia to find out who was responsible for this heinous crime. We can only extend our deepest sympathies to you all.

[Official response from the Fourth Revolutionary Union of Hrstrovokian Republic's]

--------------------

Again, for the tenth time today, the report of the Chancellor-Viceroy's assasination was watched with intense interest by Alexi Sandokrat.

Sandokrat was preparing to brief his agent, Mr. Sockal, on recent events in Dreqban, and giving him his instructions for possible deployment to Dreqban. Apparently, the approval for ESA [External Security Agency] intervention in Dreqban had come from the most senior of executive levels in the government. Sandokrat's area of responsibility had recently been extended to include Dreqban, ever since the General Secretary had taken power.

As he waited for a man that he had never met before, watching the General Secretary's response on DNNN, he could not ignore how quickly the top man had been to deny any involvement in Põdnalï's murder. Too quick for his liking. However, Hrstrovokian media had also been quick to announce possible government collusion in the Chancellor's death. "The pitfalls of a free media" said Sandokrat allowed, grimacing at the report in the day's issue of 'Hrstrianna ata Vokuad'.

The General Secretary's speech was obviously aimed at Hrstrovokia.

The knock at the door heralded the entry of Sockal, who entered with a nimble movement. He was about 5' 4, a small man of about 30 years, who Sandokrat understood, was fluent in Dreqban, and had worked previously infilitrating seperatist group's out in the wilds of Hrstrovokia's lawless Tigtawlko region, only recent brought back under the control of the security forces, thanks largely to Sockal's work. His dour slavic features and large mono-brow gave him the appearance of a depressed neanderthal.

Sandokrat stood to attention. "Let's begin..."

[OOC: If you havent figured it out, I'm trying to send someone out to Dreqban. However, if your not happy with that, let me know, I can change it.]

<The Dreqbanian colors fly over Drigba Palace in the wind that had been particularly strong for days. The General Secretary frowned at having to leave his palace, but knew it was necessary. Drigba Palace was much safer to discuss what was on his mind. The General Secretary entered the Chief Field Marshal's Main Office with a salute:>

"Hail Dreqban!"
"Hail Dreqban!"
"Field Marshall, Hrstrovokia is causing me some worries with their allegations. However, there is no need to jump to conclusions."
"I agree, Gener-"
"I know you do, Drigba. I think we should extend an invitation to the Hrstrovokian government to send any person or people they'd like to see what's occurring in our great Nation."
"That's fine, General Secretary. But why are you telling me this?"
"You were good friends with the former Chancellor-Viceroy, weren't you?"
"Of course, he and I were wonderful friends, I quite agreed with his policies."
"Good."
"Why do you ask?"
"I'm considering making you the new Chancellor-Viceroy. I am asking you to do two things first though."
"General Secretary, please don't say what I think you're going to."
"I'm not"
"Okay."
"First, I want you to fly out with me on my personal AH-64 and pick up the Hrstrovokian representative, if they choose to accept our invite."
"Okay."
"And second, I want you to-"
"General Secretary, I can't do th-"
"<fiercely> I'm not asking you to kill him or her, Drigba!"
"Oh."
"I want you to bring him or her to me, and I will-"
"NO, General Secretary"
"<angered> Damn it, Drigba, if you interrupt me with your assumptions again, I'll have you removed from office. <calmer> As I was saying, I will offer an alliance with Hrstrovokia. We are a major Arms Manufacturing nation, their most important aspect is Defense. We have much in common."
"Excellent, General Secretary."
"Also, I will let them know that if we ally, we will allow them a seat on the Cabinet, if they will allow us one."
"Okay."
"Hail Dreqban!"
"HAIL!"

From the Office of the Chief Field Marshal

To: Alexi Sandokrat, Hrstrovokia
From: Dfoza Drigba, Chief Field Marshal of the Mïlïtär Dreqban, and Chancellor-Viceroy pro tempore

On behalf of the General Secretary, and through him, of the Party, I extend to you greetings.

Also, I would like to request that you send a representative or some representatives of your government to our Nation so that we may converse over the late tragedy in Dreqban, along with alliance possibilities. We will happily transport, lodge, and protect them during our talks. All talks will be held privately, but a feed will be allowed back to the Hrstrovokian government to show that we are giving your representative(s) all due good treatment.

Many regards, and Hail Dreqban!

Chief Field Marshall of the Mïlïtär Dreqban,
Chancellor-Viceroy pro tempore;

With the latest politicial overtures made on the part of Dreqban, the Ministry had been stirred to life on a otherwise dull Sunday. The Minister was recalled for his residence in the country, and flown by Helo's to Omeurta within an hour of being notified. Talk around the campfire said an emergency session of the Foreign Affairs & Military Bureau Commission was being hastily convened, and that Premier Godoyaret himself would be there in person.

Suddenly, just 24 hours since the assasination of the Chancellor-Viceroy, Dreqban had made it's first diplomatic overtures towards Hrstrovokia. Events had moved swiftly indeed. Now diplomats, intelligence officers from the ESA and expert analysts, as well as our lovely Miss Klasyerkoff, were being hurriedly assembled to provide the lowdown to the FAMB.

The FAMB would in turn, decide the foreign policy of the Hrstrovokian Union. It would undoubtedly agree to send a diplomat to Dreqban, cancel the ESA mission until later, and try to establish Dreqban's real motives - whether it genuinely wanted an ally or market for it's weapons, or if it had other, more sinister motives.

------------

Chief Field Marshal Dfoza Drigba,

The Fourth Revolutionary Union of Hrstrovokian Republic's extend the hand of friendship towards you, and will accept your invitation to send a representitive of Hrstrovokia to your nation.

An experienced diplomat will be selected to open discussion for an establishment of permanent diplomatic contact and the exchange of ambassador's. An official recognition of the Dreqbani state and it's government will also take place. The diplomat will be entrusted with pleninpotentiary status. We trust that you will treat he or she with all the respect and care deserved by any citizen of Dreqban.

To friendship and co-operation!

Premier Godoyaret,
General Secretary of the CPSU & President of FRUHR

Thursday Edition

Official Announcement from the General Secretary:

"I know that you all have been mourning the loss of our last wonderful Chancellor-Viceroy, Bâro Põdnalï. I also know that other countries have been claiming that I had something to do with this, that I used this as an attempt to consolidate power, and oppress the People of this great Nation. Nothing could be further from the truth. And, in an effort to prove this, I hereby decree that the next Chancellor-Viceroy shall be elected by you, the People of Dreqban, on the First Temporary Election Day, which will be next Wednesday.

I also want you, the Dreqbanian People, to know that I have entered into negotiations with the Great Empire of Hrstrovokia. We all know that the General Secretariat of Dreqban has been extremely against the nation of Hataria, and would like to show Hrstrovokia that we want to be allied with them.

For this reason, when the Hrstrovokian representative comes to our Nation, not only will every citizen treat him/her with respect, but he/she will be lodged in the Grand Room of MedДtú Palace, the Room where I myself reside. I, of course, will occupy another room in MedДtú Palace.

We must extend a hand of friendship to Hrstrovokia, we must show them that we have nothing against them, we must do what is right not just for Dreqban, but for the World!"

[OOC: That's fine, I work a lot during the week. I also figured since we're the only ones in this RP, I should do a lot of talking about your nation in my speeches. Just so you know, I intend nothing but good to happen to your "representative". Cheers.]

Hrstrovokia-Dreqbani relations established
Hrstrianni ata Vokuad

The government is preparing this week for a diplomatic mission of particular significence to the General Secretariate Empire of Dreqban, just a mere week after the assasination of the Dreqbani Chancellor-Viceroy Bâro Põdnalï.

Lars Streimach will represent the Fourth Revolutionary Union of Hrstrovokia on a 14 day tour of Dreqban, during which it is widely believed some sort of an alliance will be proposed between the two Communist powers.

Dreqbani authorities have as of yet failed to make any arrests in the investigation of Põdnalï's murder despite the fact that the shooting took place during a televised military parade attended my thousands of onlookers and members of the Dreqbani security forces and viewed by millions across Dreqban.

Following an autopsy of the Chancellor-Viceroy, police discovered the fatal bullet to be a 7.62mm round; if this information can be trusted then it is indeed a revelation for no section of the Dreqbani security forces equips it's personnel with that calibre of ammunition.

This announcement has led to some political commentators who have followed recent events in Dreqban closely, such as the conscription of the unemployed and militarisation and rearmament as the first backlash against an increasingly authoritarian government and that further civil unrest will follow. Some have even suggested the shot was meant for the General Secretary.

Civil rights activists in Hrstrovokia denounced what they called a "cover-up" and "conspiracy" of epic proportions the murder of Bâro Põdnalï and the failed investigation. Regardless, Mr. Streimach, a dedicated and experienced diplomat of 65 years will embark for a historic visit to Dreqban, ushering in a new era of Hrstrovokian-Dreqbani relations, of which the government is said to be "very excited" about.

Streimach told of his "absolute delight and pride" in being selected to represent the Fourth Revolutionary Union, but dismissed what he said was "hearsay and lies" when confronted in an interview with this paper that the Chancellor-Viceroy's assasination was executed by Dreqbani Special Forces at the behest of the General Secretary.

He said "there is simply no truth in those outrageous claims. Frankly I'm very saddened that anyone would suggest that, as it only serves to blacken the name of a great and dynamic leader such as the General Secretary and will undoubtedly upset millions of grieving Dreqbani's, not to mention the devastated family of Bâro Põdnalï. Those comments are callous in the extreme."

Though Streimach has adopted a sensitive, pro-Dreqbani attitude, no doubt favoured by the Government, critic's feel that the sudden establishment of relations is a mere marriage of convinence between an isolated Dreqban seeking allies, new technologies and markets for its weapon industries and an increasingly bolder Hrstrovokia, having dropped it's own isolationist stance and seeking to increase it's power abroad and their only true connection - hatred of Hataria.

Protests were still being staged outside the Ministry of External Affairs and further demonstrations are due to take place. The protestors are angered that Hrstrovokia has any connection with a totalitarian regime with an atrocious civil rights record such as Dreqban.
