The Halloween Riots RP

Kulikovo

The Halloween riots are one of the defining moments in Kulikovian history. It was the spark that ignited the revolution. A bloody revolution which would pull down a brutal facist regime. This is a prelude to that war. For decades the facist regime oppressed the people, silenced opponents, shut down newspapers, and brainwashed children. It was a state of fear. Unions were violently crushed, their leaders rounded up. People would disappear in the night, never to be seen again. Strikes, protests, and demonstarations spread across the nation as the citizens prepared in secret for a revolution. A general curfew was ordered in the capital city of Jonensberg. The curfew began Halloween day and no one was allowed out on the streets after dusk. Two innocent children wandered out onto the streets on Halloween night in search of candy and fun. A policeman opened fire, killing both of them. A mob gathered and overpowered the policeman. A full-scale riot which lasted over a week began. What part will you play in the riots? Will you fight to free yourself and others from tyranical rule? Or will you suppress any opposition.

Good evening. Our top story today comes from the Old District were two youths were shot and killed by a policeman after he was assaulted by the them. They were in violation of the curfew law. The policeman attempted to ticket them when he was attacked and defended himself. However, a large crowd of adjitators are at the scene and we are recieveing reports that they have overpowered the policeman and are looting stores and burning cars. Special Police units have been called to the scene to contain this situation.

The Old District

The crowd of people set the pliceman's car on fire after he was killed. The citizenry has had enough of their miserable experience and are now taking to the streets in anger. A mob of 200 strong are marching down the streets of the Old District, waving banners. Their numbers are growing. The grieving parents of the children went to the church where a procession carried their children. The priets comforted them in this dire hour as the citizens hatred burned like a torch.

Yuri Alenski looked out his window. Several fires illuminated the sky as smoke rose, sirens were going off and he could hear shouts and chants. His wife Sasha was in the kitchen with their two young children, Valerik and Lana. They were making cookies to keep the children occupied.
"Yuri, are they coming down our street?" she asked in a concerned tone,
"No, not yet" he replied. Yuri was a member of the Socialist Liberation Front, an organization which has been planning a revolution for several years. This was the spark they needed. There was a knock on the door. Yuri answered it. One of his friends from the SLF stood there with a gun.
"Comrade Alenski, the hour of our liberation has come" he said. Yuri went to the bedroom and put on a red sash and got some stuff and an old rifle that belonged to his granfather. He turned to Sasha.
"Sasha, stay here with the kids and don't leave. This may get messy and I don't want anything to happen to you, I love you and our children very much. I'm doing this to better our lives" he said. He held her in his arms and kissed her, then he turned to the children.
"Valerik, you're the man of the house, watch out for your mother and sister. Lana, don't worry, daddy's gonna be back soon." Sasha tried to plead with him but they kissed once more and he left the house to join his comrades.

A black unmarked armored truck slammed on it's brakes in the middle of the street. Reports were comming in at JTAT headquarters about a riot that was only going to get worse in the old district, The back doors flung open and eight men in tactical gear jumped out on the street with bean bag guns, their real weapons hung around their necks on straps,

"No shooting, this don't have to get worse...the regular cops can't handle this so they give it to the big boys!"

Sergent Tyler Williams said to his men, a JTAT helicoptor flew over head and over a loud speaker the words echoed through the night,

"Go home! Everyone return to their homes immeaditly.."

The team stood in the street watching people continue to disobey the requests made by their goverment.....

Williams had no idea what to make of the situation, he had never been in charge of riot control and didn't know how to deal with hostille civilians...this was no black ops mission.

Kain watched the three policemen running down the street past his home. They were headed towards the epicenter of the riot.

Kain's old rifle was listed as officially destroyed in the fight that had wounded him. That had taken pulling some strings, back when he still had friends in the millitary. Most of those friends were dead or retired now. But Kain still had the rifle.

At the sound of the gunshot, two of the officers spun around, as the first collapsed. Moments later, Kain had relieved them of their weapons, and was well on his way to becoming a full scale armory.

"Down with these pigs!" He shouted, tossing one of the pistols to a man he knew as part of White Rose.

"The Revolution's here!"

The crowd became a mob of hundreds. They were armed with bats, pipes, bricks, guns, and various other instruments. There were numerous banners rising above the mob as they stromed down the streets. A large banner rose above them all. It was red with black letters readin "For the Liberation of the Worker". Cars were being tipped over, police cars being battered with rocks and bricks. Yuri was amoungst them with his old rifle, he wasn't sure it would even fire. They were mad and tired of the oppression. The night sky was filled with smoke and helicopters. The riot was spreading like a brush fire.

The massive crowd moved further down the streets, united as one entity. Their aim was the police presinct. The police were gathering there trying to ready themselves for the inevitable. Police cars stretched across the street and weapons drawn. The flashers were blinking and floodlights illuminated the surroundings. Many of the policemen were cut off and in small groups away from the main body. A convoy of six police cars had headed out earlier and were pounded into the asphault by the people. The captain went on the bullhorn.
"Return to your homes. I repeat, return to your homes, disperse immediatley!"

I was sleeping. Was is the correct word to use at this moment. I awoke from my bed, rubbing my eyes, and stared off in the darkness of my apartment. Faint screams, shouts, chants, cars, and the sounds of helicopters was the culprit that awoke me.
I turned over and turned on the lamp next to my bed. The light blind me for a moment, but as I regained focus, I rose from my bed and looked outside the window. A small group of men, women, and teenagers marched on the road chanting anti-government and pro-democratic words.
The students at the university, who held anti-Fascist meetings, urged all to take to the streets and express our views upon this tolitarian state. Maybe it could be the chance to do this because entire communities are in chaos because of these protests and rallies since Halloween night. Those poor children. Those three words always come to mind when I remember that night.
Avenged is what they will be, along with all who have been exterminated because they wanted to express their opinion. Mother and Father...
The group of people dissapeared from my vision. Then, I turned on a small radio on my dresser. Words quickly erupted from the news stations about the growing riots, vandalism, and arson. I turned it off. Quickly, I began to get dressed.
Halloween night seemed to spark a flame onto a bed of charcoal. The spark being the seed of revolution. The flame, that spreads, grows like the protests and rallies. The charcoal being the oppressive government.
It's time for a revolution of freedom...

The White Rose cell was only twenty men strong. But they were armed with millitary weapons, and weapons stolen from dead police. And they were organized.

The standard of the group is a white rose on a red background. Below the rose, also in white, is the legend, 'For Freedom'

"The Revolution is here!"

It was hoisted in the center of the group. It fluttered in the breeze as the group pushed forward.

"To us! Down with the fascists! To us!"

The rallying cry went out, and the small wedge began to grow into an irrestible wave.

Williams and his men watched the mob get closer, he touched his communicator on his neck and spoke into it,

"X2-A1 give us some light on that crowd..over.."

The JTAT helicoptor swurved to the side shining it's bright spotlight towards the approaching mob. The JTAT members remained calm, Williams looked at his men who's eyes could hardly be seen through their goggles, black balaclava's covered the skin of their faces,

"Looks like things are going to get real bad, stow them bean bag guns...lock and load just in case..and Private Harper..bring out those two riot control gas grenade launchers.."

Williams watched the crowd advance then said over a loud speaker from the trucks driver side,

"Return to your homes immeaditly! return to your homes now!"

Private Harper stepped foward,

"Sarge..they have fire arms..."

Williams spoke once again...

"Take your weapons home! there is no need to continue the violence! return home!"

The Sergent was starting to worry, these civilians were going to do somthing harsh and force the JTAT to re-act which they did NOT want to do....

Lt. Col. Shaw strode into the briefing room at Ramtan Garrison, 20 km north of Jonensberg. The room was full of the 5th Internal Security Battalion's officers and senior NCOs.

"Listen up! As of now we are on full alert to move into the city and crush this little uprising."

The men in the room were hardly suprised at this statement.

"Tell your troops to gear up and be ready to move in an hour. As soon as the call comes, and it will come, we'll fall on these disloyal swine like the Hammer of God."

With that he dismissed his troops to prepare, this would be a long night.

The team continued to hold their ground and watch the rioteers advance, Williams spoke to Hq,

"HQ they continue to move over..what the hell do we do?"

Hq reponded to the question,

"Sergent, hold..do not provoke the situation, over"

Williams had not intended to fire on these people anyways, he had never been called to a situation as screwy as this before causing him to question his training,

"Well boys...we sit tight"

Williams spoke over an open channel,

"All police, military units alike...Sergent Tyler Williams JTAT here, we have a serious situation in the old district, civilians are armed..i repeat civilians are armed..."

He let go of the button allowing a reply to come through....

Jessica watched the proceedings from the darkness of a nearby alleyway. Above her, other members of the SDS were hanging a large banner that would unfurl leaving their mark on the city. The violence was abhorrent to her, and she hoped it would be contained quickly. Not that she wanted the police to put down the riot, oh no, she just hoped they would join the crowd and demand an end the the terrible and oppressive government that ruled over them.

While her friends hung the sign, she painted the words: "Freedom Now" on the brick beside her. Once the others had finished, the banner reading "Students for a Democratic Society Demand an End to Oppression" was unfurled, and then they split up. Jessica remaining behind to monitor the progress of the riot, while the others moved on to other targets for their slogans.

Chester was the only man that Canadstein sent. Deciding to get closer he went down a fire escape and saw a young women. She had blond hair from the distance he was at. Coming up closely he asked behind her back. "What are you doing here?"

I'm not going to hurt you miss. To prove to you that I'm not part of this country. Here is my passport." He grabbed something from his pocket and gave it to her. "I'm here because I'm just pasting by. Also you don't have to lie to me. I saw you paint that message on the wall." Chester pointed toward the wall.

Jessica forced a little smile, she still was unsure of this man even as she took his passport and looked it over. It seemed genuine, but she certainly wouldn't know for sure. At least he wasn't acting like one of the soldiers of the fascist regieme, they'd have already beaten her and dragged her off toa prison, she was sure of that.

Still, he'd seen her paint the message, so what could it hurt to tell him a little. "The government. They killed some children and the people have finally had enough. We are going to overthrow their rule and usher in an era of peace and freedom like other countries enjoy," she said somewhat forcefully. She glanced past the man at the message she wrote on the wall. "I just hope that the government gives in quickly so the violence doesn't spread."

She passed the man's passport back to him and looked him over quickly, "You should leave, I think things are probably going to get worse you know. The government will probably shut down the airports in a day or two if they don't give in. You should probably try and get a flight home as soon as you can."

I'm not going to leave until I die or I'm ordered to come back. Oh can you tell me your name since I told you my? It's fine if you don't." Chester replied. He gave a smile to her. Chester knew that this woman didn't trust him. He could understand because of the police and the rioting.

Slogans were painted over walls, known facist supporters were being beaten. The riot spread out of the Old District. The huge mob reached outside the police station. They hurled rocks, bricks, and bottles at the police. They yelled, shouted, and screamed. The situation was getting worse. Yuri was in the crowd with other SLF members. "Comrade Dannen!" Yuri shouted. Dannen was the local leader of the SLF.
"What is it Comrade Alenski?!"
"We can't stay like this much longer, we have to push forward!" he yelled over the crowd.
"Forward for liberation!" he and others cried, the crowd surged forward like a tidle wave.

The White Rose banner now flew over a small army. All were armed with the deadliest weapons they could find. Unfortunately, for many this was limited to knives or shards of glass.

Kain led the mob towards where the tear gas launchers were. Letting his millitary training take over, he fired at one of the men operating it, and without waiting to see if he'd hit, swung his rifle towards another and fired again.

Then the mob was in front of him, and he couldn't fire any more for fear of hitting them.

One of Williams's squad members was struck by a bullet in his flak jacket,

"We are taking fire..taking fire!!"

The JTAT member dropped to the ground but was quickly helped back to his feet,

"What is our course of action sir!" Asked one of the team...

Williams didn't know what to do, he looked at his men who had their weapons trained on people ready to open fire with full effect..

"Back in the truck! back in the truck.."

He spoke into his communicator,

"X2-A1, X2-A1 give us some support here...we are falling back, im not shooting at these people..over"

The Helicoptor moved downwards getting between the people and the JTAT armored transport,

"X2-A1 moving to support..Over.."

The Armored vehicle was manned and sped off farther down the road, Williams needed some extra time to think..he could not fire at armed civilians...

"Hows peaters?" he asked..

One of the team replyed,

I quickly dressed into baggy black cargo pants, a plain black t-shirt, and an opened-button shirt over it. I also put on my black wristbands and chains on. I always looked like a non-conformist when it came to social lives and "fashion statements".
Men and women were reported to being armed, so I thought that things might get ugly with the government forces. Because of this, I armed myself with my father's military-issued combat knife that was given to me the day I left for college. The knife was sheathed and I hooked it around my belt.
Moments after leaving my apartment, I quickly gathered known students, of the anti-government groups, around the rooms in the building. This was a school-owned building so students were given rooms here. That made it easier to alert fellow students. Surprisingly, they all were changed as soon as I got to their door. They said that they were ready to go.
We left the apartments with a group of thirty students, including myself. We ran through the streets and we walked until we were upon The Old District.
As we made our way to the district, we tore down posters that spread the government's propaganda. We even had time to quickly spray-paint anti-government graffiti on walls, store windows, and government posters. Phrases like "TOPPLE THE FASCISTS PIGS!" or "FREEDOM NOW!".
We heard vehicles and helicopters gather toward The Old District. Obviously it was policemen, special squad teams, or even the military itself.
Then, after passing streets and alleyways, we in this district. Large rallies of angry everyday people charged across law enforcers, even opening fire at them. We then washed into the large groups of people quickly. I began follow the crown and chant and yell as had as I could...

"I'm a member of White Rose," said Kain. Did this man honestly imagine him to be stupid enough to give his name in the middle of the revolution?

"I'm afraid I'm rather strapped for cash right now, unless your willing to work for..." he calculated for a moment, "Twenty-two Kulkas."

Jessica watched the exchange between Chester and the armed man. She clutched the card in her hand and stepped so that Chester was half between her and the armed man. She wondered what her friends in teh SDS were doing. She knew some supported an armed rebellion, she couldn't, there simply had to be a better way. Hadn't Ghandi preached non-violence and led a mostly peaceful uprising? She sighed as she though of the forbidden books she had seen, then caught her mind wandering as the two men continued speaking.

Her eyes widened as they discussed weapons and so forth, her hand snaked forward and grabbed Chester lightly on his upper arm. "No! You can't help them Chester. The country will go up in flames! Thousands, maybe more will be killed! There has to be a better way." She said with and urgent, pleading tone in her voice.

"Attention all troops of the 5th Internal Security Battalion, as of 1732 we have received orders to move into Jonensberg and crush this revolt. All men will muster at their mobilization points by 1900 hours. Further orders will issued at that time. It's time restore order and show these malcontents the true power of the State. That is all."

Our government wants to help your country Jess. We're not trying to destroy. They're going to have to get weapons somewhere else." Chester looked Jess in the eye and put his lightly hand on her cheek. "Now I already called ten helicopters are going to drop suppplies right there." He pointed past the alleyway.

Williams and his squad entered into the action, the armored truck came speeding down the road and slammed on it's brakes up the street from the police station, A JTAT helicoptor flew over the building at a fast speed.

Williams got out of the truck and said over a loud speaker,

"This is your last chance to come out and end this placing your weapons in a pile!, you will not be told again!!"

In The helicoptor there was four JTAT members ready to rope out and gain entry through the roof, the ropes dropped and men traveled down them at a fast speed touching down,

Bubba Ohyay sat next to a boarded up window-- he had a brief view outside. He didn't know how he had ended up in this country. One moment he was trying to sell fish to the local markets and the next he was sitting on the rooftops with a bunch of rebels.

He had been a sergeant in the Commonalitarianism defense forces. He was stuck in a poor neighborhood. When the riots started, he had headed for the local outdoorsman club. He knew he might have a chance there. He managed to round up several men with shotguns and hunting rifles with scopes. Stacks of ammunition lay next to them. They had been poachers in the local parks when things had gotten really tough.

Several molotov cocktails were lined up next to the ammunition boxes. They had taken over several rooftops and windows. The street was barricaded with concrete and piles of burning tires filled the streets. Many of the windows had been boarded up. Outside he could hear the sound of rioters breaking windows. People were breaking glass and carrying away television sets.

She turned and began to run towards where her friends had said they'd be heading. She raced down a series of twisting alleyways and then out into an open street. She skidded to a halt and then backbeddled to collapse behind a parked car. Only a few blocks down the street was the police headquarters, outside were a number of fascist government troops. From the look of things, they were getting ready to storm the building which had been seized by rebel troops.

Swallowing heavily, she began to creep forward alongside the car. Some of her friends had been headed this way and might have gotten caught inside the building. As she observed from the darkness behind the car, she looked around for another way into the HQ. If she could get in, then they could get out before it was too late.

Shaw was busy preparing his men for the attack. He had snipers positioned to provide coverage of the entire compound. His support teams were preparing tear gas and heavy machine guns. A platoon of LAV-105s with 105mm cannons were moving into firing positions on the compound. The assault teams, equipped with MP-5s and G3 rifles were positioned behind armored shields wielded by the largest men the squad leaders could find. In Shaw's command LAV the final preparations were being made with the officers who would be leading the attack.

"Stone, your platoon has the motorpool doors. Grieves, your men have the fire door on the west side. Moore, you will command your platoon as well as Dover's, you have the font door. Michaels and Tyler, you're in reserve. Support teams, you know your jobs. Let's get to it people."

Then the planes re-grouped and did another swoop. This time they dropped small hand-grenades and smoke bombs. Down in the compound there was a situation of panic. Rioters were running around everywhere, no one watching where they were going.
"Okay, make way for the helicopters... pull up!!" shouted Minderbo Doonie. But just as the planes did so, the civilians attacked back. Within seconds, a plane was hurtling to the ground in flames.

Slowly, but surely, five Black Hawk helicopters circled down onto the compound. 100 MSF (martentopis special forces) soldiers parachuted onto the roof.
"Group c this way!!!" shouted Bob Joolliehem, luitenant of the MSF. He had been specially chosen for this mission, because of his great work tackling (and shooting up) riots in his home country.
With his group he made his way down the stairs from the roof. On the upper floor of the building he found his first was of resistance. With a rattle of machine-gun fire, five of his men dropped on the ground.
"Open fire!!!" shouted Bob.
The crew opent fire at the make-shift barricade the rioters had erected. It consisted mainly of a couch, about three chairs, a table, and a few bricks.
Within seconds the barrier was de-mobilized, and group c was running dow the next flight of stairs.

With a loud crash, one of Martentopis's helicopters smashed onto the ground.
"The rioters!!" screamed one of the pilots.
Team b quickly got the task to gaurd the helicopters. They took down the rioter with a sniper who had shot the helicopter in it's fuel tank. Lining the roof, they were an easy targets for the protestors...

General Mortie Djuck was sitting anxiously, waiting for a reply from the troops in Kulikovo supporting the dictatorship there. It came a second later.
"Sir, we have already lost ten men, including the five out of twenty-five from group c, who have gone down into the compound. Waiting for orders, sir!"
The general sat there thinking. The situation was getting out of hand, he thought. Maybe Martentopis should just pull out. No, he decided. We should support dictatorships.
"Send team a to help team c," he finally replied. "Get ready to cover more aircraft that are going to come in." then he turned to his second-in-command, Gort Timbermanns.
"Send 100 more MSF... we'll see how the situation goes!"
"sir, yes,sir!"
