... where Ares is the only god, and Steelia is his prophet. [Open, MT]

NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD. IT IS PENDING LOCKIFICATION. THE REAL THREAD IS HERE (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=482075). MUCH APPRECIATED, ETC. ETC.

On television screens around the world, the images are suddenly replaced with static and a blank screen.

Silence.

Then music.

http://www.aquarianage.org/lore/files/mars.mid

Onscreen an image suddenly flickers to life -- a soldier, clad in full NBC gear and battle-armour, face hidden by a gas mask, the emblem of a silver sword emblazoned upon his chest, standing stiffly to attention with his assault rifle and armament at his side.

Slowly the image begins to zoom out, showing more similarly clad and armed soldiers around him, an endless line stretching back until it blends with the horizon, the banners of war fluttering to the inexorable drumbeats of Holst. Then the image continues to zoom upwards, showing from high above a formation of soldies so long that it stretches back for miles. Around them, tanks and artillery numbering in the thousands... helicopters and fighter jets so numerous in the skies they blot out the sun...

Then, over this, a liquid woman's voice begins to speak in mellifluous, almost seductive tones, while the music is momentarily muted.

A Nation Forgotten.

Perhaps that was unwise of the world.

For ages past Steelians had to fight for their lives. Against piracy, against invaders, against natives.

From that, we grew strong. War became our way of life. Defending against constant attacks upon our hard-won land, we built up powerful defencive systems. Massive industries devoted to war sprung up and began turning out quantities of powerful equipment.

Now the scene is fading out into a strangely blue vapour, upon which part of a face, or its outlines, is emblazoned... blue mists swirl around it, making it invisible, but it is definitely the source of the voice.

But for years now, the attackers have learned not to attack us. The Steelian people are growing unhappy, their land crowded. We have few choices left now. We need more resources, and badly.

We wish to warn the world now. Steel and Fire is on the march. And we are bringing destruction with us. You are either with us, or against us.... and if the latter, you can prepare for death.

Our first target will be....

Her voice dies down as the image on screen fades into the scene of the massive Steelian armies once more. Then an order is shouted in some harsh tongue, and the troops begin to march forward in perfect unison, carrying their weapons with pride, banners flying in the wind as the sound of millions marching forth causes the very earth to rumble and shake as the sky darkens with the thousands of jets passing overhead....

[ooc:] Open. Anyone can decide to be the target of the invasion (as long as you're not an island, which would leave me quite a bit of explaining to do...)

"Schnapsemarschall! Schnapsemarschall!"
"What is it, man! Pull yourself together!"
The breathless aide dropped a dossier in his CO's lap.
"Steelian... invasion... I came... fast as I could."
Schnapsemarschall Hallget was a man of action.
"Activate all mobile brigades and the first army corps, put all fighters on full alert, what's the naval condition?"
Admiral Jahnfuhter swung in his chair,
"Our Sovremmenies and Corsairs are physically in good shape, but the crows couldn't find their arses with both hands, and the Harris remain in drydock. We shall have to rely on Bundesmarine boats and frigates. Let's hope they don't come from the sea."

The earth is shaking. XHU 711 90 can feel it, even from within the belly of his Warhound Mark XII ultraheavy tank, four thousand tonnes of steel penis inching across the land and crushing everything in its path. XHU 711 90, properly Tank Commander XHU 711 90, is a short and clean-shaven man with brown hair and an impassive expression. One of dozens of such tanks in the 126th Heavy Armoured Brigade, the Warhound Mk. XII is perhaps the most powerful land vehicle in the Steelian arsenal, and XHU 711 90 knows it. Only a supertank of similar size can possibly hope to match it.

XHU 582 35, the lieutenant in the group, calls across the interior of the lumbering vehicle, "Commander, we appear to be making progress. We will have finished crossing the no-man's land in approximately twenty minutes."

"Excellent." XHU 711 90 leans back and closes his eyes. "Are there any troops guarding this border?"

"Yes sir, and sats are picking up mobilisations in most military bases around the country."

"I see they are prepared. How fitting." XHU 711 90 shows his teeth in a smile that is neither friendly nor warm.

The earth continues to shake as the millions of soldiers, marching in unison, begin to shout battle-cries, rending the air with terrifying noise.

The first strike is to begin soon.

***

ACD 528 31 swings round in his leather swivel chair, his eyes shifting from one of innumerable helicopter camera displays to the face of his commander. He is a radio officer for the Fieldmarshal Herself, although it is not She to whom he turns his gaze upon, but rather one of the few named Steelians, Aitoku 7371.

"Sir, our plan of attack appears to be going well," ACD 528 31 says.

Aitoku 7371, an Asian man with silvering hair, turns his eerie crimson eyes upon ACD 528 31, intensified by the darkness of the control room somewhere in the bowels of Steelia III, lit only by tactical displays. Aitoku speaks.

"How are the naval forces doing?"

"They have reached naval gun range to begin shelling, sir."

"Aerial?"

"As strong as ever."

"Land?"

"They are soon to begin a full-scale attack."

"Good. Our blitzkrieg will succeed here with all certainty, will it not?"

"Aye, sir." ACD 528 31 turns back to the screens.

***

Just inside gun range of 200km, the Steelian battlefleet halts, its large numbers of heavy gun ships designed to shell the enemy into submission. Its citizens are a resource too, however, so as few as possible will be killed. But sometimes the deaths of civilians cannot be avoided....

High Fleet-Admiral Durin 38 san-6712, CO of the battlefleet, watches as the fleet forms up with alacrity, all six hundred of its ships preparing for the bombardment. Then from the safety of the bridge of his Achilles Assault Dreadnought, he gives the order. Informing his XO, XII 743 10, he says: "Have all big guns open fire."

"Yes, sir."

The four Achilles ADNs start the barrage, utilising the 100 635mm electromagnetic guns they carry between them to hit docks, harbours, ports, and any ships that can be found. The guns fire again and again as more and more cannons add their voices to the din.

460mm guns from Battleships, 380mm guns of the Gun Cruisers, even the 305mm guns on Missile Cruisers, all open up with salvos of rocket-assisted shells that begin pounding into anything the enemy can possibly put out to sea. Seeing this, the land forces begin firing upon military installments with their massive 500mm self-propelled artillery pieces, shells slamming into anything within range as the Steelian troops continue to advance, the sky already dark with jets darkening further with shells.

Meanwhile, the VL blocks of the fleet are prepared to deal with any shipping that might have escaped Steelian notice.

Foolish, small nation, I scoff at your threats. Steelia will only disarm when injustice, hatred, poverty, and terrorism are gone from the world, and that will be only when Steelia herself has conquered it. You will learn to love us, or you will be crushed beneath our boots. Make your own choices.

OOC: Hang on, hang on! You're small. You don't get that much stuff to throw around. Railguns are definitely PMT. And any ship entering my coast would fall prey to the gunboats and subs that stalk Friesland (my nation being located in Germany), so I'm going to assume your fleet is hanging around a little way out of range. Additionally, I do maintain a border vigilance with a whole army corps.
IC: General-der-panzertruppen Schelner looked at the satellite image of the advancing wave.
"Sir, a small nation named WhiteHouse2 has shown their support. I'll get them on the horn when there's a lull in the fighting."
The General nodded imperceptibly and turned to his FSO.
"Open fire with all available missiles and howitzers, ready the panzers for a charge, we will breach their line and smash their logistics once battle is joined. The infantry are ready, I presume?"
As an answer, an aide opened a radio channel.
"Koenig Tigers here, ready to rock."
"Hollefeuer truppen here, no fear, no mercy."
"Eisensturm here, holding like steel."
The old division mottos gave Schalner a fresh resolve. No man would set foot on Boozian soil until he paid his dues in blood!

Tank Commander XHU 711 90 glances at the nearest display.

"It seems there are infantry waiting for us on the other side. This may be more fun than I expected."

The uncounted millions of troops slowly grind to a halt, their jackboots striking the ground one more time as the advance halts.

A harsh tone echoes throughout the formation, and the massive line of soldiers opens fire as one upon the infantry upon the other side, the vanguard kneeling with machineguns and mortars as the line behind them opens up as well.

The soldiers are spreading out now to form a semi-circle around their opponents, as tanks and field guns open fire as well, while fighter jets and helicopters drop dozens of rockets upon the enemy troops, showering them with cluster munitions. The destruction sure to be spread upon the enemy by this assault is but a tiny fraction of the total firepower of the Steelian army. Mobile SAM turrets have been brought in to deal with any enemy fighter jets, although the thousands of ASFs in the sky will be of additional aid.

This is going to be a little more work than the Boozian General might presume, as he undoubtedly will realise when faced with the advancing army numbering in the 4 million range...

OOC: The artillery barrage would have reaked some severe havok on your troops.
IC: "Mit Stahl und Feuer, Toten und Sterben!"
The battlecry echoed along the front as the Boozians opened fire into the enemy. Sattelite targetting would allow the panzer-jagers to precisely pick out enemy armour and destroy it, while endless fire from rifles and SAWs, with the occasional grenade mixed in pounded the Steelian infantry. Thousands would fall on either side of the shooting match. Schalner was in his element, steel and fire.
"Battle has been joined, General Leutnant. Get rocking."
"Happy to!"
With a scream and a blast of "Trogdor the Burninator!" from their speakers, first panzer division hurtled towards a weak point in the enemy line, while overhead, the Luftwaffe finally took the strain off the over-burdened AA tanks. In the distance, a mobile brigade could be seen rushing to re-enforce, while across the country, reserves mobilised and whole armies moved into positions.

Out at sea, the gunboats and submarines were having a hell of a time. Even a small destroyer had a hard time in the watersheds and channels of Friesland, but the shallow draft Boozian ships were able to nip in and out, striking at the enemy, who were just entering range of Boozia's naval bastion, the three estuaries region, and opening up with their guns, playing hell with the shipyards of Bremen, Cuxschafen and Brunsbuttle .But if the enemy got uppity and tried an assault on the Kiel canal, mines and fixed missiles would cut them down to size.

Far to the south of the battle line, in swiss airspace, nearly an army corp's worh of airborne troops were passing, before swinging northwest to a location well behing the lines, where they swiftly set about roads and power lines with their missiles before heading east, back towards the fighting.

... And battle is joined.

Battle, the life of Steelians. They live for these moments, when they can crush the enemy, whatever enemy, taught from birth that the enemy of the state is their enemy. Charging forward in perfect unison, they engage the enemy at close range with their pistols, rifles, grenades, and bayonet blades, uttering bloodcurdling shrieks that are sure to give morale a hit.

Dozens are slain as shells and missiles explode overhead, but SAMs target and destroy larger shells and missiles while the Luftwaffe's advancing forces are hit by massive waves of tens of thousands of air-to-air missiles, SmartFlak™ cannons and DP guns on tanks joining the salvo as withering barrages of fire hit the mechanised forces.

Warhounds are moving forward now, the massive 4,000 ton tanks crushing lesser vehicles below their feet, shrugging off rounds as large as 120mm due to their heavy armour and responding with their own massive guns and missiles. Behind them, Avenger and Executor tanks follow, their own heavy guns pounding enemy troops mercilessly. Steelian troops rush forward in an unending line to crush the enemy line by weight of sheer numbers, their armour capable of taking most regular assault rifle rounds without so much as cracking.

***

At sea the battlefleet comes to rest within range of the Boozian mainland, but not far enough in to be stuck in the shallow waters. Guns thunder, aimed at ports, harbours, and docked ships, as the VL systems of the ships unleash a full fury of over 8,000 Annuvin anti-shipping missiles at the Boozian ships in range, mixed in with several thousand Duma missile drones designed to drop huge quantities of cluster munitions on bases and cities.

The battle is on in force. ~

OOC: I edited my post as you wrote yours, so please read the new paragraph. And respond to my panzers. Also, the Frisian coast is a tricky region to RP in, so I'm just going o assume your out in the open three esturaries water.
IC: The Boozian infantry, their holding task finished, fell back rapidly, towards their bunkers and their forts those enemy companies foolish enough to charge to close range found themselves torn apart by HMG fire from the massed troops, accuracy being no object. The luftwaffe took severe losses in the initial attack, but with the main air attack repulsed, their task was complete. Mobile brigades were appeaing, exploiting the gap torn by the Panzers, while the ready army, three times the size of first Corps, was makin all speed for the fighting.

Back at sea, battle raged. The Corsair carriers, unhampered by the low quality of their crews due to their static role, sent wave after wave of aircraft into the foe, while the new Sovvremeny destroyers formed a solid core to the little Bundesmarine frigates. Land based missile turrets, guns, and airbases all sprang to life to defend the coast. Any enemy straying to close would feel the sting of the minefields.

[ooc:] You mean within Steelian territory? A few problems with this.

1) Steel and Fire is surrounded by a massive wall (I pay attention to issues).
2) Anything foreign entering Steelian airspace is normally shot down by the massive air defence net.
3) Power plants and lines are located underground, along with most of the Steelian population; the surface has been rendered inhospitable by excessive military testing and is used mainly for bases. I know, I really ought to make a factbook. ¬_¬

The rest of your edit stands though. :P

[ic:]

As the Boozian Panzer division moves in to try to tear a hole in Steelian lines, they meet the Steelian equivalent: the Warhounds. Tanks and IFVs are blasted apart by the heavy guns and mortars of the ridiculously massive tanks, as Executor Medium Tanks engage the enemy as well, plugging up the hole as Logistical Corps collect the bodies of the dead for fuel.

The Steelian fighters yell in victory as the Boozian soldiers and armour retreat, swiftly regrouping to prepare for the appearance of the Mobile Brigades and holding a line nearly a kilometre across, still in NBC gear. The aerial attack is far from repulsed as well, with less than sixty airframes lost; Strike Fighters and Bombers begin to launch hundreds of AGMs and conventionally armed Bunker Busters towards Boozian forts and bunkers. Meanwhile, over a thousand ASFs break off from the main formation and pursue the Luftwaffe's retreating planes, launching more and more air-to-air missiles as several planes, left completely winchester, plunge out of the sky as kamikazes towards forts and other installments with a fanatical fury, screaming in exultation as they explode in blazing fires amid enemy troops.

Land based missile turrets, guns, and airbases all sprang to life to defend the coast. Any enemy straying to close would feel the sting of the minefields.
The aircraft foolishly throwing themselves at the Steelian fleet would meet wave upon wave of surface-to-air missiles from the Destructor AA destroyers, of which over a hundred and fifty are in the fleet; not to mention near constant 76mm and 155mm fire from the dual purpose guns mounted on almost every ship. Meanwhile, the guns of the Steelian fleet turn purposefully upon the ships, sending massive shells plunging down upon them as sea skimming SSMs play hell with their electronics, designed to strike them on the waterline to sink them much more quickly. A metal wall produced by the CIW systems of the fleet shreds many incoming shells and missiles; the few that do hit cause little damage to its overall strength.

But the ships do not move in. They remain where they are, continuing to fire upon the enemy, but providing only support for the land invasion.

OOC:D. Military Involvement with Nations NOT Bordering You
You cannot directly invade a nation that doesn’t border you. There has to be a way to get there, whether it be with transports, airdrops, or permission to march through another nations’ territory. You cannot just say that your troops arrived at their border and are invading. That, in itself, is a godmode, coinciding with the “Very Fast Troops” explanation. Behold, the might of Euroslavia! If noobs read his stickies, NS would be a place of gods. Never assume you share a border with a nation unless you are a member of its region, and the pacifics don't ussually count. Now, I'm afraid this has reached what we call number wanking. To support such a vast navy, army and airforce is beyond such a little nation. Posts count for a lot. And this is not MT. I suggest you change this to PMT, which I will leave, since PMT Boozia is an island nation.
Not to mention your ignoring casualties. Massed panzer-jager and artillery fire will by now have shattered a lot of your troops, and when I said weak spot, I meant it. In summary, I just IGNORE nuked you. Good bye.

[ooc:] Erm.... First of all, I don't think 3.756 billion is exactly "little", considering that you have less than 1/3 of that.

Second: In the NS Earth France, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands are Amestrian territory IIRC. I'm going with the larger post count here. By that logic, MT Boozia shouldn't even exist. :)

Third: If this is PMT I will ask for this thread to be closed and start a new one with "PMT" in the title; as per your suggestion, to clear up confusion among those who consider MT to be everything we can build today, rather than in the near future.

Fourth: I'm not ignoring casualties, I'm just not posting them in full. Meh.

What do you mean by this? If we were going by post count alone, I have other nations with over 9,000 posts.

Also, perhaps I should have made it more clear... the troops are assumed to be invading from Steelia to a bordering nation, and thus whoever would join on the other side would be the bordering nation getting invaded.
