Super-power's orbital fleet conducts a show of force

Firing Range, Strategic Orbital Naval Station, Lagarange Point 3 - After one year since its debut in the orbital military, Super-power's Joint Chiefs of Staff wished to conduct a show-of-force with the flagship, the MSC-07 Albion.

They planned to fire both the Albion's 2-barrel "Decimator" Mega Particle Cannons at an asteroid 1 km in diameter, placed 5,000 km from the firing coordinates.

"Less than five years ago, terrorists attempted to drop a colony onto our country and fire upon us with nuclear weapons. Although the plot was foiled, let this be a show of how lethal and accurate our weapons have now become, and the price attacking nations and groups will pay if they do so choose to declare war upon us," said Joint Chief of Staff LaFlaga.

The firing would commence at exactly 12:00 p.m. Super-power Mean Time. Five minutes before, the crew aboard the Albion began to power up the Minovsky generators which would allow the Decimators to fire simultaneously.

At 11:59, the generators reached full capacity. "Begin final 60-second countdown to firing," ordered Albion captain Chevalier. "Ten seconds....five, four, three, two, one, FIRE!"

In a matter of seconds, the two MPCs let loose twin streams of blood-red mega particles, racing towards the asteroid. Upon contact, it let loose a blinding explosion of gas and particulate matter. Once the dust cleared, the asteroid could no longer be seen."

"Gentlemen, this demostration has been a success. Congratulations," said the Captain.

"Captain, i'm detecting an energy burst in system J-554," reported the lieutenant at the science station.
"Can you identify it?" asked Captain Randle.
"Some kind of highly-charged particles discharging on an asteroid." replied the Lieutenant. "Possibly an unknown weapon system."
"Alright," said Randle. "Go to Yellow Alert. Communications, contact StarFleet and send a report of our findings. Helm, set a course for the J-554 system, Warp 7."

"My lord! We have sighted a powerful weapon!" shouted a warrior.
"Location!" shouted Commander J'Dok
"Unknown system. But within our range," replied the warrior.
"Excellent, we shall go and meet this new enemy. Contact the Empire and inform them of our mission," said J'Dok. "And let us go to glory. Set course and activate cloak. Qua'pla!"

"Captain, sensors are picking up weapons fire. Looks like megaparticle cannons."

"Helm, change course to intercept. We ought to take a look."

"Aye."

"What the... Hey Cap'n, is that what I think it is?"

"I dunno, what do you think it... is..."

"That looks like an old Pegasus class mobile cruiser!"

"You've got to be shitting me. I didn't know that they still made those."

"Lets mess with them. Ready the Gelgoogs."

The Nightwatcher, a Kusanagi class frigate (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Kusanagi_class_frigate), cruised through space near L3 as part of a routine patrol. Though she was only 186m long, she was more than a match for the 305m Albion, or any ship that took part in the One Year War on either side, not to mention the ships that took part in the wars of the following decade. Unlike the refitted Pegasus class cruiser, Nightwatcher was built more like the old Feddie cruisers and battleships from the Federation's '70's Armament Reinforcement Plan, designed to duke it out with light enemy ships and small craft. Unlike the Salamis and Magellans, Nightwatcher and her sisters carried a pair of mobile suits and a flight of fighters. They also packed guns more powerful than any seen during the One Year War.

"Captain! Transmission from Command!" reported the communications officer.
"Well? What is it?" asked Captain Randle.
"New orders sir," replied the lieutenant. "We're to intercept the Ambassador and report to Admiral Hood."
"Very well," said Randle. "Helm, set course for the Ambassador's last known position, warp 8."

The Excaliber banked away to a new heading and jumped to warp speed.

As the Bryn Shander force moved in to 'mess' with the Super-Power forces, a Dolos III-class* MS carrier uncloaked itself and launched several Den'an Zons from its hangars to intercept the Bryn Shandarians, although weapons were not trained on the ship itself.

After uncloaking, a transmission was sent directly to the Nightshade.

Attention, Bryn Shandarian ship. The Dolos III-class Archibald is here to prevent you from letting a free nation perform a harmless weapons test upon an uninhabited asteroid. Failure to deviate from your current course will result in a hostile deviation by our forces.

However, we do not wish the latter part to come to pass.

((*: Ask me about this. I have stats on it.))

"Do you think they're serious?"

"The message sounds too stupid to be a joke."

"What's the charge status of the spinal gun?"

"One hundred percent."

"Shields?"

"Sixty."

"Any other ships in the area?"

"The light cruiser Maburaho, the destroyers Skurup, Horby, Salem, and Krokom, and our sister ships Elqillar and Ilbratha."

"Sounds good. Send an encrypted message to the ships in the area."

"Aye."

In response, all seven ships in the area changed course to rendezvous with Nightwatcher.

"All forces in the area report that they're on their way to render assistance."

"Good. Target the carrier."

"Targeted."

"Sound general quarters."

"General quarters! General quarters! All hands man your battlestations!"

"Fire the spinal gun."

"Aye."

With small flash, the huge spinal gun that the frigate was built around erupted with megaparticles in a golden beam that signaled impending doom for the carrier. With several hundred years to sit on the technology, Bryn Shander's megaparticle cannons were several hundred times more powerful than any seen during the One Year War or after. The spinal guns on the ships were the pinnacle of megaparticle technology, with several thousand times the power of even the most powerful battleship guns seen during the first Universal Century.

"What is that!?" yelled Commander J'Dok.
"It's some kind of mega-particle cannon," replied a warrior. "Our shields cannot withstand such power."
"Ba!" said J'Dok. "Two enemies have found battle. Hold Position!" he ordered.
"We shall wait and see what the asteroid-killer does next"

(OOC: Yea, go ahead and join. And Klingon, the pic of the Kusanagi frigate doesn't appear in NS Wiki for me; it wouldn't happen to look like the Kusanagi from SEED, would it?)

"Sir, it appears that our show-of-force has been mistaken for hostility"
"I was afraid this would happen. Thankfully those Gelgoogs won't pose a big threat to our MS. Scramble five of our Z Plus C1's to circle the Albion in defense. I'll radio these carriers/frigates that we mean no threat."
"What about those other MS?" (OOC: The Den'an Zons)
"They're not interested in us. Their armament looks radically different from anything I've seen, but I've yet to see the Z Plus line fail"

The Admiral then broadcast the following message to Byrn Shander, Klingon Warriors, and any other ships in the vicinity:
"Attention all ships, this is the Albion. We mean no harm to any of you; we were simply conducting a show-of-force operation with our flagship. I am sure none of us want this to escalate into a full-blown battle"

OOC: No. (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Image:FF-1593.jpg) Also, I haven't launched anything yet, and the Gelgoogs are much more in line with the OMS-14RF than the MS-14A. To be rather frank, Bryn Shander is so much more advanced than anyone else here that I can't imagine that combat would last more than five minutes.

Also: I won't recognise any TFU involvement in this.

OOC: I suppose so. The only units that might stand up against yours are my special forces unit of Victory Gundams and one V2 unit for a "Doomsday" scenario. And even if they are superior, they probably wouldn't fight off your entire army.

"Ha! These creatures want no part in battle!" said J'Dok.
"We should attack them anyway!" yelled a warrior.
"Agreed," replied J'Dok. "Ready weapons, prepare to-"
"Commander! Message from the Homeworld!" shouted the warrior at communications.
After reviewing the message, J'Dok addressed his crew. "We have been ordered elseware. The Empire has other work for our ship. Pilot! Prepare new course!" he ordered.

The K'T'inga-class battlecruiser turned and jumped to war speed...
