[Earth II]In Nomen of Empire

With victories in the Cayman Islands, Cuba, and the Madeira Islands, the Empire was in a situation of unparalelled greatness. The Empire was home to 2,705,500,000 people, scattered between Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, northeastern Canada, the United States east of the Mississippi, Central America south of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea, northern South America and eastern South America, Easter Island, and two islands in Hawaii. Encompassing over 4,683,812.76 mi² (12,131,018.85 km²), the Empire was a force to be reckoned with throughout the world.

The Empire, broken into nine subdivisions, which included four provinces and five autonomous republics. The Empire had no colonies, at the moment. The four provinces, Dnalkrad, Layarteb, South Eastern Virginia, and Ynoga were the main part of the Empire. The status of a province was one that granted full funding and protection from the Empire. The five republics were the Atlantic, Caribbean, Iceland, Ireland, and the Pacific. Republics were autonomous in that they controlled their own government and because of this, they recieved a fraction of the funding that provinces did. Their citizens were still citizens of the Empire. Colonies, on the other hand, had little rights. They recieved no funding from the Empire, their citizens were not citizens of the Empire, and they had no say in their colonial government, which was administered by the Empire.

The largest of the provinces was Dnalkrad, which included Greenland and northeastern Canada. Then there was South Eastern Virginia, which included the South American lands. Layarteb was the third largest and included the mainland United States territory. Ynoga, the smallest province, was simply Central American territories.

As for the republics, the Caribbean Republic was the largest, encompassing all of the territory in the Caribbean Sea. That was followed closely by both Iceland and Ireland. The Atlantic Republic and the Pacific Republic followed.

Since the completion of the Empire, which was finalized when the Cayman Islands, Cuba, and the Madeira Islands were secured, things had quieted down. The Empire went to Readiness Condition 4, which was the normal peacetime level. It had not been that low for some time now, considering the state of affairs throughout the world. It had stayed at level 3 for some time, perhaps the longest block of history at level 3 ever.

It was almost an era of peace throughout the Empire. Though not declared an era of peace, there was little more that could happen, offensively. The Empire had no plans to move into any further areas or anything of the sort. The defensive threat still loomed as there were many enemies out there who wanted nothing more than to eradicate and annihilate the Empire and all that it stood for, which was, to say the least, justice, law, order, and prosperity.

The Nauru Files [Part I]

The acquistion of Nauru by the Empire, from the United Federation of Eurasia was something that was, initially, treated with confusion. The small island, a mere 21 km² was thousands upon thousands of miles away from any land of the Empire and was, in essence, considered useless. The two Hawaiian Islands and Easter Island made up the Pacific Republic and they were far closer to the Empire than was Nauru, a whopping 2,280 miles away from Hawaii and 5,820 miles from Easter Island. It was almost traded away, before Dr. Harvey Shincock, a PhD in naval history came to the table and spoke up in defense of the miniscule island.

Suddenly, the island had a purpose, a very big purpose. It was close enough to Hawaii to be serviced by almost any aircraft they had and it was definitely close enough for a quick ship travel. Ships going from Easter Island to Hawaii looked to travel almost 4,800 miles and then the other 2,280 miles to Nauru. It could provide an excellent side for a refueling port, an airfield, and a heafty space division center. The island was small but only the outer rim was inhabited, leaving the center at their will. They could easily build an airfield large enough to land long-range bombers, a naval port large enough to service aircraft carriers, and a space command center with a big enough radar station to track nearly everything and anything flying over the Pacific Ocean. Suddenly, the island became extremely useful and its population of 13,635 was integrated into the Pacific Republic in no time.

With that, the armada of ships set out for the island with the sole purpose of construction. The Pacific War raged in the background and that was problematic to the Empire but they were confident that their ships would not be harmed by the battling sides. If they were that would mean the full wrath of the Empire against the warring parties, something nobody wanted. It would take days to reach Nauru with the materials required to start the basic construction and already Manchurian Global was recruiting from the local population for the construction jobs. This project was going to be almost as big as the Easter Island project but it promised to be far less secretive and the populace would not be harmed, after all, they had gone quietly, welcoming the Empire and its citizenship rather than face starvation. Their GDP was miniscule, a mere $60,000,000 and their per captia was only $5,000. With the Empire, they knew that those figures would soar and they could basque in the wealth that came with the Empire as well as the safety and security. Times were definitely changing.

The Nauru Files [Part II]

The Nauru Plan was simple yet expensive. They would convert a section of the northeastern edge to a naval port, displacing 200 citizens of the island, nothing that could be avoided, unfortunately. In the interior, a 2 runway airbase would be built. Because the island was so small, they would have to make it capable of holding only fighters and STOL aircraft. The C-17 would be the biggest aircraft to grace the presence of the island. The 2,150 meter runway was small, in comparison to some of the other ones built and it would be able to handle large aircraft but the airbase would be small. F-41 Defenders would make up the main air force of the island, with several C-130J Hercules transports as well, otherwise, the island would be rather alone.

The naval port would be small as well, able to handle only two dozen ships at once and up to four aircraft carriers, albeit they would be extremely tightly spaced. Air defense systems would be mobile although a Crow and PAC-4 site was planned. The presence of an AABMS site was still under review.

The space command would be largely underground though it would maintain a large surface presence, mainly due to the necessary antenna and uplink equipment. OTH-B and Anti-Stealth radars would be set up throughout the interior in an oval pattern, enabling a full 360° view with maximum capabilities.

The Nauru Files [Part III]

The Foreign Ministry officially made it known to all warring nations in the Pacific that Nauru was now under the control of the Empire and that convoys would be going to the tiny island to supply it and begin a constant supply line from Easter Island and Hawaii to the island of Nauru. It was made known that should any harm come to the convoy, the Empire would respond in due course!

The entire project to build up Nauru was a §650,000,000 investment that wasn't going to be cheap at all. The amount of materials and labor required to construct the various installations on the island weren't cheap. They weren't rare materials, which would more or less, meant that they were in abundance but they were also going to be sent in the tons upon tons.

The convoy had already set out and it would be there in a few days, with all of its might and all of its power and all of its supplies. Marines were onboard, just incase things turned ugly, though that was a possibility that was more of a doubt than anything else.
