The Great Planetary War (on one planet...)

Arionodor

On the small, peaceful planet of Isolite-3, the Kingdom of Arionodor was ready for anything...except for planetary war. Their allies, The Democracy of Ariadwor, had recently been attacked by the evil Zarius' minions. The king ordered a draft, and the greatest training to be put underway. Soon, the villages and towns were filled with men-at-arms, prepared for any attack, but still inexperianced.

Some attacks came, but most were beaten off, and some villages fell, but at great expence to Zarius' forces. But the height of the war was not yet come...

OOC-Whaddaya think? :D

RCVF Kiev, Crimson Vaalite Destroyer

Ship Master Jusik ambled around the Command Room. There was much activity after the previous battle, and his ship had sustained heavy damage. The only thing that hadn't been touched were the combat sensors, and their range was limited.

"Sir, I'm getting a sensor echo," the man on the ops station warned.

"Try to steer us clear lieutenant," Jusik ordered in his careful voice.

"Steering clear, aye," the man on the helm said as he tapped the necessary controls. "Prokliatie! Dropping out of VL space sir!"

"What? Why?" Jusik asked harshly.

The battered destroyer emerged from the blood red depths of VL-space, dangerously close to a planet. The man on ops had done his job, if he had waited another second they would have impacted the planet at high warp. Jusik looked at his control panel, the power readings for the warp engines and the sublight engines had spun to zero, they were drifting. Worse yet, they were drifting towards the planet. Jusik punched the blue button on the console, calling the entire ship.

"All hands, prepare for emergency landing."

The order was quite simple, get as close to the center of the ship as possible, and strap in. The Command Room was located at the center of the ship, and only a crippling blow would hit the Command. Jusik strapped himself into his seat and waited.

The eight kilometer long destroyer hit the upper atmosphere, the battle plate along the outside melting away in the uncontrolled descent. Jusik looked at what the ground was like, mostly just a forest where they were going to "land". He calculated the time it would take to reach the surface, twenty seconds. He tried to keep his mind clear as the ship shuddered and tore apart. The last thing Jusik did before they hit was touch the BRB, or the Big Red Button, to send out a distress signal to all Vaalite ships.

The Kiev impacted the ground at about mach six, sending dirt and rock flying into the air. The ship slid along the ground, losing speed and creating a huge swath along the countryside. The ship lurched up, flying about two kilometers before touching down again. Jusik eyed the cliff they were speeding towards on the viewscreen, it was going to come awfully close...

The ship hit something on the ground, apparently a living shelter, but it was enough to slow the hulking ship before it became one with the rocky cliff wall. The ship stopped bare meters from the cliff, a very lucky outcome. Jusik eyed the Command Room wearily, they were going to be stranded here a long time.

Zarius was sitting atop his black throne, over looking the hauge army amassed before him. he had recently started his attack of The Democracy of Ariadwor, and he suspected its allies to jump in quikly, that is why there were already 500 men and several hundred Growltics (vicious dog-like creatures with huge spines on their backs in a straight row, OOC: completely a figment of my imagination). headed twoards the Kingdom of Arionodor. But just then a tired hippogrif (winged lion, we all should know that) burst into the room and delivered some disturbing news. A huge structure of some kind had just fallen out of the sky and crashed into the ground, crushing a small outpost in a secluded forest. Zarius was extremly interested and immediatly sent 50 griffens ( also bird like creatures (or so i'm told) to investigate and bring back anything, or anyone, they could for "inspection."

OOC: Am i right to assume Zarius is evil? And does he have any evil socerer-like powers?

Ship Master Jusik spat on the deck, leaving a small pool of blood on the ground. He ordered the combat sensors online, so that they could detect all incoming life forms. Jusik glanced at the control console, the ship lay almost parallel to the cliff face, which could provide at least some cover. A large blip suddenly appeared on the outside of the sensor radius. The reading was organic, but nothing Jusik had ever seen before.

"Seal all hatches except the one at junction zero-one-alpha, have USTAD squad one and three report there for defensive maneuvers if necessary," he ordered in an interested tone.

"Closing hatches and dispatching USTAD-III soldiers, aye."

"If whatever is coming is hostile, you can always close that section off, after our troops have retreated of course."

OOC: Since this is more PT, I will change my weapons tech so they are not as damaging and won't godmod you into submission. Oh and by the way, its Griphon and Hippogriph, or so I have been told.

The citizens of Ariadwor and Arionodor were terrified when the saw a huge metal vehicle fall out of the sky into a forest, and the king of Arionodor ordered a scouting party to find out what happened, and they returned to report that the metal vehicle was like something they had never seen before.
The king ordered a close watch on the strange device.

Back on his throne, Zarius watched the whole ordeal through his black diamond sphere (bare with me). He noticed a griphon become interested in one spot and start to crawl in. Just then a burst of light, followed bay a bang, blew the griphon to pieces. a few others dived down to investigate the opening it had found.

Jusik watched as the troopers went into a defensive formation as a large bird-like creature wandered inside the open hatch. One trooper let loose a grenade and the creature disintigrated in a flash of light with a satisfying wham! Jusik continued to monitor the area through his console and pressed another button to signal the walker bay.

"Polovnik Dellerov here, sir."

"Dellerov, we appear to be the point of interest in this theme park. Let loose the security please," Jusik ordered with a hint of amusement.

The colonel laughed, "Yes, sir."

A large door opened at one of the hangar bays on the Kiev, near the cliff on the opposite side of the other open hatch. Two large assault walkers and two smaller scout walkers lumbered out and ambled around the ship to the other side. About twenty minutes later, they rounded the ship and approached the open air lock. The scout walker pointed out the creatures in the sky. The pilot took the liberty of naming them 'Flying Proks', the second part being an abbreviation of a more crude word.

The assault walker lifted its weapon-laden arms and sent a burst of stunning PSLs towards the flying menace.

From atop the great keep of the castle of Arionodor, the enemies were seen, and the king ordered all men on the walls, and that all outside had to get within the keep.

The castle of Arionodor is a great keep, where the king lives, and is surrounded by a high square wall. It is on a vast plain, perfect for farming. It had never been attacked, for Isolite-3 is a peaceful planet, but they were prepared.

Ship Master Jusik watched as a new wave of creatures came into view, and were swiftly cut down. They dove and attempted to attack, but computer-guided projectiles proved too much for them to handle. He watched in amusement as some humans ran into the depths of the forest. It seemed strange to Jusik that humans would be located here, but he had already seen some strange things. He tapped the control panel.

"Let those people run, lieutennant, let them tell their buddies about us," Jusik told the lead man in the 'Mech walker.

"As you wish, sir."

"Its never easy, is it?"

The man laughed, "No, sir."

The growltics were released into the countryside around the keep to finish off any one whpp had stayed behind. The men started setting up tents, barricades, and catapults, awaiting the main column of soldiers to come. they were expected in one day and their numbers ranged into the thousands, and they included men, harpies, and minotars (half bull/ half man).

Zarius had chosen to merly keep the strange intruders occupied untill they could be dealt with. His first plot was to release some werewolfs. Hopefully, when the intruders found them in human form, they would take them as prisoners. Then the werewolf would unexpectedly explode into his wolf form once he got in the vehical. Hopefully he would scare them into staying in their ship. The werewolfs set out one day before the full moon.

The men inside the walking machines of war patrolled the outside of their home ship with religious certainty. They checked every nook and cranny and rotated every twelve hours for rest duty. The lead walker picked up an organic blip on sensors. The young officer keyed the communication button.

"This is Echo One, our patrol has picked up incoming, permission to engage, over."

"This is Base One, I want those people alive, if possible, over."

"Aff, over and out."

And that was that, the patrol turned away from the ship and lumbered into the forest. The red band across the 'head' of the walker gleamed as it scanned the dense vegitation. The walkers approached a small clearing and saw a handful of men, the ground pounders saw the hulking metal machines of death and laid down on the ground. The walkers approached and, instead of the pilots dismounting, they were retreived with a large net shot from the left torso. The net wrapped neatly around the group and hauled them all the way back to the ship.

The guards inside the Kiev ushered the terrified people into a large cell, and sealed the door. The internal camera displayed the weary group inside, and another displayed the rock solid marines on the outside. The time index displayed that local time neared dusk...

Zarius watched the intruders as they locked the werewolfs into a room. The moon was due to be full in two minutes. Zarius waited. 30 seconds later he got feed up, pointed out the window at the moon and shifted it so it reflected all the light from the sun (full moon). He sat back and waited as the werewolfs exploded out of their clothes. They thrashed around banging loudly on the door and walls. One of them hit the camera in the corner, knocking it off its mount and leaving the intruders blind to the events happening in the cell.

The men watched as some men were taken into the vehicle, only they were not familiar. They realized that they must be some of Zarius' minions. They remembered that it was going to be a full moon soon, and concluded that they must be werewolves, and debated whetheror not to warn the warriors. They decided to warn them, and began banging on the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Zarius' army was getting closer to the capital...

Ship Master Jusik was overwhelmed by what he saw on the viewscreen, the men inside the cell had.. changed. They had transformed into wolf-like creatures and battered the camera down. It still revealed audio transmission, but visual was impaired. There had also been a report of yet another visitor during the shift rotation, and he had wandered in through the open airlock. The man had been swiftly captured and put inside a room where Jusik could speak personally to him with the "Squack", slang for the Uniform Translator. He eyed the boxy device and shoved it into his pocket and ordered another unit of soldiers down to the prison deck. He checked his pistol, a classic slide operated projectile weapon with a 17 round clip. He thumbed the safety off and went inside the elevator.

On the prison deck, the marines all aimed at the cell door, being battered furiously by the things inside. Jusik pulled out his pistol and strode down the hall to the interrogation room. He stopped just outside the door and was reaching for the control panel when the door behind him burst outward. The tall wolves all jumped out at once, two being cut down immediatly by weapons fire. The others attacked the guards viciously, killing three and wounding another. One creature took an interest in Jusik and screamed down the hallway. The marines finished the remaining attacker and proceded to reload, leaving Jusik veulnerable. Jusik fumbled his weapon and pointed it down the hall. Seven shots rang out as the wolf-creature took four slugs in the chest, and one in the ugly head. The creature fell, and drenched the deck with sickly black blood. Jusik keyed the door, and it revealed a terrified man.

The inhabitant of the room was Human, but it didn't surprize Jusik, Humans inhabited many places, but were normally too ignorant to realize it. Jusik thumbed the safety on his pistol to 'off' and shoved it back into the holster. He smiled at the man.

"Welcome to the Royal Crimson Vaalite Fleet ship Kiev. I am Ship Master Marko Jusik, may I ask who you are?"

The Squack beeped in response, and analyzed the other's thought pattern, it beeped again and played back Jusik's voice in the man's native language. Technology was extremely helpful these days.

"You are in terrible danger," the man said as sounds of screaming and howling came from the door to the room,"These things that are attacking you are werewolves, one of the many creatures that Zarius has in his disposal. He is our enemy also. If we do not defeat him soon, he will take over the planet. We have had word that he marches with 500 evil men and many creatures towards our capital. If you join us, we will be grateful. But, if you do not join us, we have met our utter defeat. Our allies are also in danger, and are being attacked. If you decide to have mercy on them, then perhaps we shall all survive...", a scream came from the hallway,"most of us, anyway. So what do you say?", he watched the man hopefully.

The man finished talking, and the Squack beeped and hummed in response. Three seconds of uncomforatble silence later, it played back the message in Jusik's native tongue. The man told a strange story, like something out of fiction, but Jusik was forced to beleive it all to be true. The other also told of how an 'evil' leader was attacking the so-called 'peace loving' peoples that this one belonged to. Jusik frowned, he was not supposed to meddle in the affairs of other planets unless ordered to. The Ship Master pursed his lips and thought of a solution, he keyed his communicator.

"Command, this is Jusik, prepare an infantry unit and four assault walkers. They are to proceed to the largest and nearest population center," Jusik ordered in a heavy accent. Jusik furrowed his brow when the Squack beeped back and played his words in the unfamiliar tongue to the other man.

The as yet unidentified man seemed pleased, and Jusik told him that he could leave, and left one marine in charge of letting the man out. Jusik pulled his pistol and gave the 'werewolf' four slugs to the back of the head.

But to Zarius dismay, troops and machines were dispatched from the vehicel. h\He cursed in several hundred different languages before getting up to watch the siege of Arionordor begin. “Sir!” Said Lieutenant Collins, the ships Ops Officer. “I’m picking up an encoded message on the emergency frequency.”
An encoded message on the emergency frequency? Thought Captain Darnel. That is kind of odd. If it was an emergency why don’t they just use normal transmission procedures, unless…
“Can you tell who it’s from?” Darnel asked.
“It looks like a Vaalite transponder signature although I can’t be certain.” Replied the Lieutenant.
The Vaalites. Darnel thought. I figured as much. This maybe more serious than we know.
“Can you tell where it’s coming from?”
“It seems to be coming from a planet in a system about fifty light-years from here.”
“Can you be more specific?” Asked Darnel
“Not at this time sir. We’ll need to get closer.”
“Fine, helm plot a course towards their signal, best possible speed” Ordered Darnel. “In the mean time lieutenant, find out what that message says.”
Darnel got a pair of Yes sir’s and headed into his ready room. He sat down and opened a channel to Hashin Republican Command to inform them about their, predicament. He knew in his mind that they wouldn’t be able to resist an opportunity like this.

Jusik stared at the holomap that had been set up using a high-altitude scout flyer. Fortunately, the castle and the surrounding area were visible enough to make decent plans. Unfortunately, the numbers were about seven hundred to one or more. His troops had set up a base camp on the other side of a crest, and had posted snipers to keep a rotating watch. Jusik could see all of the primative, but effective weaponry that the so-called 'Zarius' forces fielded. But, worryingly, they also had some other kind of creature that they used, and not surprisingly, it looked vicious and predatory.

Jusik noticed one thing that the soldiers had set up, a concussion artillery cannon. The weapon had never been field tested, and that was what his mission had been for. Supposedly, when the Conker fired, it would send a blast with almost pinpoint acuraccy and create a concussion explosion. The 'explsion' did not do anything except exume a gravimetric shockwave rippling outward, but it usually sent orgainics flat on their asses. The Conker would prove useful against the wooden seige weaponry, but there were just too many for the lone cannon to destroy.

Nightfall was fast approaching, and Jusik keyed the Comm.

"Commence."

At the sound of this single word, the five sniper teams picked their targets and fired, sending a sickly blood fountain shooting into the air. The cannon also fired with a soft whum! and a small blue projectile sailed through the air and impacted the ground, sizzled for a second, and died. Damn it Jusik thought, that was our only chance--. The area then erupted in a blue ripple with an exeedingly loud PSHEEWHAM!!, sending the surrounding enemy troops sprawling to the ground. The bulk of the enemy forces turned to look, with the proverbial exclamtion mark over their heads. The first wave of Vaalite attackers was ordered. And six units of nine men ran over the small rise towards the enemy.

Darnel sat in his ready room looking over all available data on the Crimson Vaalite protectorate. All the data was telling him the same thing. The Vaalites had fast ships, powerful armaments and mostly shot first and asked questions later. Darnel had had the privilege of seeing one of the Vaalite super-carriers in battle. It was frighteningly strong for a ship of that size. The Hashin Republic wasn’t on the best of terms with the Crimson Vaalites. There had been a major dispute over a mineral rich asteroid field that resulted in a Republican ship being damaged. The Republican council had decided that this could help stabilize diplomatic ties with the Vaalites or if need be gain tactical information on them. Darnel was continuing to go through the data when his door chimed. It opened to reveal lieutenant Collins holding a data pad.
“What can I do for you lieutenant?” Asked Darnel
“Sir, I’ve finished decoding the Vaalite message.” Replied Collins.
“Oh?” Said Darnel becoming suddenly curious.
“It’s an automated distress signal coming from a planet in the Isolite system.” Said Collins. “We haven’t been able to pinpoint where as of yet.”
“Do you think we can hail them?” Asked the Captain.
“At this range maybe.” He replied. “There would be some unavoidable interference but it is possible.”
“Good.” Said Darnel. “Prepare to transmit to them. I’ll meet you on the bridge.”
Collins said yes sir and left. Darnel took a final look at the data then walked on to the bridge.
“Ops, prepare to transmit.” Ordered Darnel.
“Channel open, your on sir.” Said Collins.

Zarius didn't noticed these new attackers at first, but he now had his eye upon them. He sent extra men to repel the charge from the gate, loosing the night arrows and opening up with some of the catapults. He then had the reserve troops form up to face the crest and the remaining catapults to bombard the hill. The attack also caught the attention of several Growltics who procceded to run up the hill twoards the snipers. Despite having eaten several villagers that day most of them were still thirsty for blood.

The Command Room, Onboard the RCVF Kiev

Ship Master Jusik watched the skirmish from his comfy commander's chair. This luxury had always distracted him, but he wasn't complaining. He glanced at the new data comming in, the detactment that he had sent was running short of ammunition. This was a serious problem, there were just too many hostiles for his men to engage on their own. Another problem was that the enemy now knew of his men's presense, and it appeared that they were ready to charge. Jusik also noticed several viscious and ugly creatures bounding towards the base camp. Two were shot within seconds, and another thrown back by the concussion battery. The commander yelled for his troops to fall back into defensive positions and three more of the beasts fell to the ground. Off to the side, a group of four predators exploded from the bush, ripping three men apart and wounding a fourth. The group of Vaalites turned and fired, bringing two beasts down and sending the remaining two fleeing. Jusik frowned, he could not afford to take losses. But the enemy had taken many times more losses than he had, and had also been deprived of seven seige weapons, an acceptable outcome. He keyed the communicator and ordered them back to the Kiev. He swung his chair around, wondering about his call for help.

"Sir, we are recieving a garbled transmission, let me clean it up."

"Its about time, eh lieutennant?"

"Aye, sir."

The young man punched the keys on his console and piped the message through to the main screen. It revealed Captain Darnel McKay, whom Jusik knew from the Navy's "intelligence breifings" on Hashin leaders. The man identified himself and offered his assistance. Exeedingly strange, especially for a damned Hashin imperialist. Jusik frowned, the Royal Navy would have his ass for this. He keyed the long range comm reluctantly.

"This is Ship Master Jusik, of the Crimson Vaal S-Destroyer Kiev I. We ask for your assistance in this matter, but we ask that you do it quietly. There are multiple UADVS (Under ADVanced Species) on this world, as well as large predatory animals. We know that there is a war occuring, and we have," Jusik paused, his face turning red with rage, "made the mistake of intervening."

Jusik killed the transmission and sent it on it's way. He did not look forward to meeting with the Hashin leader.

Although they attacked visciously, the creatures couldn't stop the charge from the gate. The king was in the front of the charge, sweeping away the enemies with his longsword.

The king ordered, "Fight towards the forest, our allies are there!"

However, when the catapults began firing, many men fell. A large amount of forces were wiped out with the first blow.

"Destroy the catapults!", the king ordered.

Soon, the forces were struggling towards the catapults, driven on by their seemingly fearless leader.

Zarius saw the invaders start to retreat and ordered the forces attacking them to turn back to the main battle. They swelled the battered ranks and formed a cushion between the wall and the catapults, abandoning the offensive strategy for a more defensive one. But Zarius would not let the intruders get off easy. He sent a horde of harpies to thin them out and hurry them off the planet. But he was not pleased with their success in harming his army, and now saw them as a real enemy. He started to form up another army, this one primarily of evil creatures, to assault them.

As the king and his remaining forces tried to fight themselves towards the forest, they were surrounded. They could barely keep theirr swords up, they were too weary. Soon, they began to drop dead at the hands of the creatures and evil men of Zarius. Then, they were all dead. Arionodor was defeated, and slowly fell into ruin and anarchy.

ooc- well, how could they survive?

OOC: Have them run back into the keep, ordered reinforcements up, or just retreat back into Arionordor. Surely you and your allies could summon up an army to defeat this one. Or go for Zarius.
