Jonensberg, Kulikovo

Master Seargent Bannan Derensky sat at his desk in the miliraty base. It was a small one, more of a school than base. There he tought new recruits on various topics. It was mainly there in case there was an emergency in the city, which rarely happened. He was a veteran of the revolution and distinguished himself as a leader and a fighter. But now, Kulikovo was at peace and he began to think of living a normal life. He lived off base in an apartment nearby on his way he'd see the happy couples walk about. He began to think of love and having a relationship which he hadn't had in some time. So one day he decided to send out a personal add.

One of Queen Theodora's childhood friends and advisor, Juliet Phocas read over the ad. She was single and looking for a partner. She decided to send a letter:

''Hello. I am Juliet Phocas, I am 25, I have brunette hair and emerald green eyes. I like many things like fencing, art, architecture, reading and the military. I have many hobbies and interests. I hope to meet you soon.

Bannan returned to his apartment which was paid for by the military. There was a letter waiting for him, he opened it up and read it. He was happy to see someone reply to his letter.

Dear Juliet Phocas,

You sound like an interesting woman and it would be a pleasure to meet you some time. We share some similar interets and I hope to hear from you soon.

Juliet said good-bye to Queen Theodora and others and boarded a plane for Kulikovo. Bannan could tell her plane landed if he saw one with the Byzantine Two Headed Eagle on it. When Juliet landed, she went to the lobby and waited, while looking around.

Bannan arrived at the airport early so as not to miss her. He had some flowers that he got. He didn't know too much about flowers and the florist helped him out. He saw whom he thought was her. His heart began to beat quicker and quicker. he clasped the flowers.
"Juliet Phoca, it's a pleasure to meet you" he said and handed her the flowers, his eyes connecting with hers.

''It is nice to meet you, you must be Mr. Derensky.'' Juliet said. ''What nice and pretty flowers. Thank you for giving them to me.'' Juliet stated. ''I am from Theodoraea, I am an childhood friend of the Queen.''

"Please, call me Bannan" he replied "A friend of a queen? How interesting" he said.

''It is true, Bannan. I have been her friend since we were little girls. I was older than her but we were still friends. Many of her childhood friends live in Theodoraea.'' Juliet said, smelling the flowers.

"One of our leaders is marrying a queen" bannan replied.

''Atticus and Lehana, I have heard. It is truly a blessing from the Father that this is happening.'' Juliet said. ''My Queen is looking for a husband.''

"I am happy for Atticus, but many people believe he is a traitor, a traitor to socialism" Bannan replied "I wish your queen finds a husband."

''Socialism and Monarchism do not mix. And thank you for well wishing my Queen.'' Juliet said. ''Shall we see Kulikovo now?''

"Yes, you'll enjoy Jonensberg and all it has to offer. The people are friendly, the food is good, and there is much to do" he said and the two of them walked out of the airport.

''I am sure I will enjoy it.'' Juliet said. ''Tell me about yourself.'' Juliet said politely.

"Well, I'm a member of the military and have been forover 8 years. I am a veteran of the revolution and now I teach tactics and survival at the military base" Bannan replied.

''I am an advisor to the Queen of Theodoraea. I have helped the Queen for some time now.'' Juliet said.

''That must be a difficult job" he replied "Advising a queen and such."

''It is actually pretty easy, sometimes at least.'' Juliet said. ''In Theodoraea, I live in a mansion near the Citadel of Christ Kosmokrator.''

"A mansion? Your job must pay very well" Bannan said, he couldn't believe it. "The military pays for my apartment and gives me a descent salary, I don't need much"

''I do get some sort of salary. My mansion has a nice view of the Citadel and city. I like the mosaics of the Citadel, including the one they call ''The Mosaic of the Stern Christ''. Juliet said.

"My apartment overlooks the military base. Which isn't that spectacular. I'm sure the citadel is beautiful" Bannan said.

''It is beautiful indeed. It is near several Orthodox churches, I am Orthodox Christian. You would like seeing it, I am sure.'' Juliet said.

"I am Russian orthodox" Bannan replied as they left the airport "What would you like to do? There is much to do in the capital"

''I am Greek Orthodox, I believe.'' Juliet said. ''How about a tour of the capital?''

"A tour it is then. You'll love it" Bannan said as they began walking down the streets. They were busy with people and trees lined some of the streets. There was a mix of old and new buildings.

''What a nice city.'' Juliet said, admiring the city. ''What is life like in Kulikovo?''

"Life I'd say is just fine. Every nation has its' problems and Kulikovo is no acception. But, to citizenry are proud and intelligent. Education, equality, and the enviroment are the major concerns of the government" Bannan said.

''That is good that your nation is doing excellent.'' Juliet said. ''Could we go to a restaurant? Does your nation have pizza huts or mcdonalds like the West or is it different?''

"No, we do not have any of those. Corporations and the private sector are heavily controlled and watched. Most corporations run away from Kulikovo. But, there are plenty of local places, I'm sure you're hungry" Bannan said.

''A local restaurant would be nice. I am hungry somewhat. Perhaps they have pizza or hamburgers? Just saying as I have tried some Western foods.'' Juliet said.

'Kulikovo is culturly diverse, there should be a place to get pizza" Bannan replied and they walked for several blocks, talking. Finally, the found a place to eat. "I'm not familiar with this place, but they serve pizza" he said.

''I hope they have pineapple pizza.'' Juliet said. ''I like all kinds of food.''

''Pineapple pizza?!" Bannan exclaimed "I've never heard of that before, but perhaps they have it"

''I meant ham and pineapple pizza but perhaps they have pineapple pizza too.'' Juliet said.

"We'll see" bannan said as they entered the place, they sat in the open-air part and a waitress came by. They ordered their drinks and bannan asked
"Do you have pineapple pizza here?" he inquired
"Yes we do" the waitress replied
"Would you like to get that?" Bannan asked.

''Pineapple pizza would be good. It is a favourite of mine.'' Juliet said.

"Then we'll have a large pineapple pizza, please" Bannan replied to the aitress, she went off. "I guess I shall try some, it sounds interesting"

''Bannan, thanks for taking me here. I hope the pizza is good.'' Juliet said.

"Well, I hope it's good too because i got the same thing you did" he smirked "Tell me a little about yourself, Juliet" Bannan replied.

''That is nice.'' Juliet said. ''I was raised in the city of Byzantinople, I have three sisters and one brother. I have degrees in many fields. I was a childhood friend of the Queen. We had much fun together when we were kids.''

Bannan nodded "I have one brother, his name's Alger" he replied, the waitress came back with their drinks and Bannan took a gulp.

Juliet took her drink and said ''Tell me about yourself.''

"Well, I'm a veteran of the revolution and was wounded. I'm an ardent believer in socialism. My parents were good people and brought me up well." Bannan replied.

''That is fascinating. My parents raised me well, and my brother protected me. I was attacked by a stranger in my childhood, my brother protected me. I have read on Socialism but I don't believe in it. I believe in other things, I am ''Politically soul-searching.''

"That's interesting. It's good to be open mnded as you are. Sounds better than being anchored down to a specific one" Bannan smiled. Normally he would get into a debate with those who didn't believe in socialism. But he didn't want to argue with Juliet.
