I use thirdgeek to find my nation's defence budget. When calculating how much I can spend on equipment/men, should i figure that everything I purchase ever is taken directly from my current budget, or do I get a "clean" slate deal?

Each year (day) you have that much to spend. But you've also got to consider upkeep costs for all of these systems (although storefront owners don't pay too much attention to them).

i'm trying to figure out the best way to keep tabs on all my forces, since I obviously am not buying up the same equipment new every year. I suppose i'll find a way to deal with this (I like to use excell as my inventory system), maybe 40% of my budget goes to upkeep and salary?

Usually, it's assumed that the procurement budget (the funds available for purchasing new equipment) is one-third of the overall budget.

Probably more if it's a new nation building up it's millitary for the first time.

I usually go with about 90-75% for a new nation, and 33-50% with a nation that's been around a while.

But heck, no real big deal to me if you spend it all.

I have a feeling after this upgrade, I won't be doing any more until my pop doubles. I'm finding I have to adjust my figures alot, since some storefronts charge entirely too much (like 30 million for a blackhawk)

If it's RL gear, like Blackhawks, it's assumed that the design plans are no longer copyrighted or patented; in other words, you can build your own versions of RL gear and use RL prices for it.
