New Service Rifle Sought

Upper Weston
04-05-2006, 03:46
The Army of Upper Weston is seeking a new assault rifle to replace our ageing G3s. These are the criteria:

1. 7.62 by 51mm NATO is preferred, but a good 5.56mm or 6.8mm round might be considered.
2. 30 round magazine at a minimum.
3. Must support a bayonet attachment and be compatiable with the M203 grenade launcher.
4. Accuracy, range, and reliabilty are of key importance.
5. Semi and burst fire is preferred.

We are currently seeking about 100,000 units, however if production rights are available we are quite interested.

The top five rifles will be entered in a series of exhaustive trials before a decision is made.

Round; 7mm caseless
Length; 81 cm
Mode of Fire; semi automatic, three round burst
Range; 450 meters
Magazine; 45 rounds
Price; $750 (includes 4 loaded magazines), $4 per additional magazine

Optional Equipment:
-High grade, shock absorbing Stock (decreases perceived recoil considerable while providing a more comfortable seat for the weapon against the shoulder) $25 per unit
-Light intensification scope (non collimating, for night and low light missions) $300 per unit
-5x precision scope (non collimating, for long range shots) $400 per unit
-4x ACOG (reflexive) sight $800 per unit
-Under barrel adaptable weapon can fire grenades, non fatal loads (such as bean bags, batons and other large diameter non fatal rounds), light armor piercing rockets. $45 per unit
The G-11A2 uses the larger 7mm round for increased range and damage and to ease logistics with LMG-11 and SG-12 SR
This change to the larger round was prompted by concerns voiced by troops after combat that the 4.7 mm round was not causing enough fatalities per shot, the G-11A2 aims to solve the problem with a larger round and longer barrel

This weapon meets all of your requirements and more so! Using caseless 7mm rounds, the G-11A2 features a lightweight alternative to full caliber assault rifles that limit the amount of ammunition the individual soldier can carry without the reduction in range and stopping power of smaller rounds. The innovative Recoil delay and reduction mechanisms give this weapon, like all members of the G-11 family, an enviable level of accuracy among Assault rifles while being very easy to use. With a full range of standard accessory rails (Picattinny or P-rails standard) this weapon easily fits whatever additional ordnance you need, from a simple combat flashlight, to a bayonet or 40mm grenade launcher, and even an adaptable under-barrel weapons system that fits all manner of unconventional under-barrel ammo. ANd you can't beat the price! While many will argue in favor of low cost alternatives like the M-16 and Kalashnikov series, those wepaons are old news ont he battlefiled and any soldier cought wielding one on a modern battlefield is little more than a walking fossil. yet innovattive modern weapons often cost upwards of a thousand USD per unit while still having less performance than the G-11A2's 2000rounds per minute 3-round burst, so fast that the last round is fired before the first has even left the barrel, and coupled with the recoil delay system, the last round in a burst is in the air before the recoil of the first has the chance to cause any loss in precision.

Pale Rider Arms would like to submit the M25 HVAR for your approval.

M25 HVAR

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/blaesa/PRA%20junk/M25BullpupRifle.jpg

Length: 560mm
Barrel Length: 491mm
UGL Barrel Length: 214mm
Cartridge: 6mm x 50mm high velocity caseless, 30mm grenade
Muzzle Velocity: 5000 fps
Ammuntion: 60 6mm, 6 30mm grenades
Modes of Fire: Safe, Semi Auto, 3 round burst, full auto, grenade
Mass (Empty): 4.1 kg
Mass (Fully Loaded): 6.42 kg
Features: Recessed top mounting rail, integral smartgun system
Cost: 2700 USD (includes set of smartgun goggles)

The successor to the popular M22 series HVAR, the M25 was designed as a lighter version of the M22, while maintaining its accuracy and firepower. In order to meet these goals, a bull-pup configuration was adopted, shrinking the over all size of the weapon. The 40mm grenade launcher was replaced with the smaller 30mm variant, not only reducing weight but increasing logistical efficiency, as it shares its ammunition with the GL series of launchers. Other features were improved, notably the addition of a full integral smartgun system, as well as a large magazine.

I'd suggest one of the Aug variants, probably the A2 or the A3. Both are extremely customizable and can be switched from an assault stance to a carbine to a sniper platform to a light machinegun in 3 minutes by a competent rifleman. It also can take an underbarrel (though, like all underbarrels, it can act as a mud scoop while falling prone) grenade launcher. That, and you could produce it in your country as is, since it is a modern non-naton specific weapon.

Crookfur Consultancies are Proud to offer you a opportunity to purchase the latest version of one of the world's most mythical firearms (because no one has actually heard of it in about 6months)
Crookfur Consultancies Proudly Presents:
The S1A5 Evolved Assault rifle
http://www.meatballs.terminator.org.uk/crookfur/images/CFARS1A5.jpg
Round: 6.25x43mm
Weight: 4.7kg (empty magazine)
Magazine capacity: 30 rounds
Length: 790mm
Barrel length: 570mm
Rate of fire: 650 rounds per minute
Max effective range: 600m (with sight).
Add-ons: Equipped as standard with 4x SUSAT optical sight and back up iron sights, these can be replaced with just about any other sighting system using the Rail Interface System (RIS).
Forward hand guard rails can accept juts about any grenade launcher including the M203.

The S1A5 is the very latest version of the Crookfur S1 assault rifle, one of the first major weapons system to use an intermediate cartridge. Using the almost ballistically optimum 6.25x43mm round, which offers performance vastly superior to 5.56mm NATO and at certain ranges in excess of that offered by 7.62x51mm NATO yet balanced by recoil barely more than that generated by 5.56mm NATO, the S1A5 offers exceptional accuracy whilst being a very comfortable rifle to use.
The new A5 model offers a number of improvements: the introduction of a fully modular RIS with 4 rail positions, the first available RIS with integrated power supply (basically the rifle has a big battery in the pistol grip that is connected to a number of "outlet" points on the RIS, these outlets are completely isolated when not in use so no chance of random shocks off the rifle, at the moment the number of compatible add-ons is limited to a single digital sighting system i am working on, but if you buy production rights I'm sure we can come up with a few ideas) and offers full compatibility with the new composite cased 6.25mm ULTIMATE ammo (it can still use conventional brass cased ammo), 6.25mm ULTIMATE offers even better performance than the standard 6.25mm ammo and is 35% lighter per round.

Costs:
Individual rifle:$850
Rifle with SUSAT sight: $1100
Unlimited production rights(rifle only):$85million
Unlimited production rights (rifle and ammo): $150million

The L2 Infantary Combat Weapon

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/3681/scarh0qh.jpg

Caliber: 7.62x51 NATO, 7.62x39 M43, 7.62x51 GFM, 7.62x56 and 7,62mm M1908
Overall length: 730 mm - 890 mm
Weight: 3.86 kg empty
Rate of fire: 600 rounds per minute
Magazine Capacity: 30 (GFM 7.62), 30 (M43) and 20 (NATO)
Max Effective Range: 600 metres
Sights: GFM Infantary Urban and Long Range sight, Picatinny Rail System
Under Barrel: M203 GL, AG36 GL, Handguard or Handle
Fire Selector: Safe, Single, Burst and Full Auto

Design

The L2 is designed as a rifle that can be used with any combination of attatchments from many countries, including NATO, the USSR and indigenous attachments systems. It can also fire a wide variety of 7.62mm ammunition, ranging from NATO to Soviet Bloc to WW2 rounds. These factors make it a highly adaptable and interchangeable weapon.

The rail on top can accept a wide variety of attatchments. Flip up/Flip down iron sights allow the ununhibited use of other attatchments such as scopes. Such scopes include anything that can use the Picatinny rail system, such as the new Galashiels IULR sight that comes as standard. Also used on the top of th rifle is the sight for the M203 and AG36 grenade launchers, which can be used in conjunction. The bottom rail allows a wide variety of modifications to be fitted. These range from the M203, the AG36 and the GP30 grenade launchers to various handles and handguards. Attatched to a lug under the barrel is a bayonet holder - we use the L-85A2 bayonet due to its efficiency and practical design.

The rifle can also have various slings attached to it, such as the M16 sling, the FN FAL sling and slings from various AK weaponary. The L2 sling comes as standard. The magazine housing itself caters for a wide variety of magazines, from NATO mags to USSR mags and their respective ammunition. Many high capacity magazines can also be fitted, such as AK drum mags and HK twin drum magazines. The magazine housing is built especially wide for rapid access during combat. Rounds can also be hand fed, for times when a magazine is not available or has failed. The stock can also have its length decreased for close quarters or for when the rifle is not needed.

Reliability is key. With very basic working parts and with a quick detachable side panel for rapid cleaning, there is very little that can go wrong if used efficiently. Clearing jams is as easy as clearing the chamber using the cocking handle. Ultimately, the rifle is very, very unlikely to go wrong (one jam in 10,000 rounds fired) and when it does, can be cleared safely within five seconds.

Overall, the L2 is a weapons system, with many interchangeable parts and accesories. It accepts a wide variety of ammunition and is a highly reliable and easy to use weapons system. We pride ourselves on being able to use our rifle anytime, anyplace with anything.

Cost per Rifle: $900
Production Rights for <10,000: $8,000,000
Production Rights for >10,000: $80,000,000

Thankyou!

3. Must support a bayonet attachment and be compatiable with the M203 grenade launcher.

OOC:
Given that the M-203 underbarrel grenade launcher, once fitted, blocks the bayonet lug on many weapons, do you want a weapon which can have the bayonet fitted at the same time as the M-203, or one or the other?

I'd put the MBRS rifle up, but it uses a 9.3 round and you're apparently after 5.56x45 or 6.8s.

Communiqué to Upper Weston Office of Procurement
Kriegzimmer (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=409787) would like to present its own alternative for an assault rifle, the Hali-42. The gun does not use 7.62mm, but the write-up presents arguments for my this is true. However, the barrel can be exchanged, since it is modular, to cope with a more uniform 5.56mm round. The magazine carries fourty-five rounds, and there is an underbarrel rail that can mount a grenade launcher. It is accurate, it has the range and it has power. Furthermore, it is completely modular.

Hali-42 Assault Rifle
http://modernwarstudies.net/Lineart/bullrsm1.png
[This wonderful drawing was done by Mekugi.]

Abstract:
The Hali-42 is the next generation assault rifle designed for use in the Macabee army, destined to replace the long worn Hali-21, which has been the mainstay of Macabee forces for over a decade. The new rifle is the product of better understanding of rifle mechanics, as well as the developement of newer technologies that guarantee the superiority of the Hali-42 over older designs, although the project takes a wild turn away from previous design dogmatics, including a once determined stance on keeping the conventional rifle configuration, and the uses of caseless and cased ammunition. There has also been a very steep change in manufacturing technologies and rifle theoretics that have called for a change in the conentional 5.56mm NATO round to something radically different and lighter, although no less lethal, with even less recoil. The Hali-42 is within all meanings of the name, the epitome of Macabee rifle design, never known for its small arms ordnance.

The rifle uses a bullpup configuration, following the recent rise of bullpup rifles, but attempts to capitalize on the configuration to increase potential muzzle velocity, allowing for greater penetration. It also relies on caseless ammuntion, as opposed to cased ammunition, and Kriegzimmer has underscored this by converting manufacturing to mostly caseless ammunition, although it keeps the manufacturing of cased ammunition to be able to remain selling the Hali-21 and Hali-37 in the foreign market. There has also been a very new change in the propellant, and in general length ratios of the barrel to the rest of the rifle. The designated marksman rifle as includes very powerful scope technology.

Furthermore, unlike its predecessor, the Hali-21, the Hali-42 is an assault rifle in all aspects of the name. The Hali-21 was more accurately a battle rifle, using a 7.62mm round, which is one of many reasons why the change from Hali-21 to Hali-42 ultimately occured. The Hali-42 project also made the decision of ignoring international conventionals, and opted to use more lethal, but less 'civlized' round technology, including the use of the barbette. In the end, every little changed detail makes the Hali-42 amongst the more potentially lethal assault rifles in use around the world.

The Ejermacht has announced its decision to replace all existing Hali-21 rifles with the newer Hali-42, and it's expected that the international world will respond as well - mostly those that used the Hali-21 as their standard assault rifle design. This includes at least one million rifles for frontline use in the Ejermacht alone, not including stocks for reserves and replacement. The Hali-42 has the potential of being a very widely used assault rifle.

Operation and Recoil:
This particular assault rifle operates on delayed blowback, seen in action on the Heckler & Koch G3. This is to allow the rifle all the advantages of a blowback operation without limiting range or eventual muzzle velocity. Interestingly, the first prototype of the Hali-42 actually used an inertia operation on the rifle, but theoritically, the delayed blowback can be translated into a delayed inertia, offering all the recoil operations of an inertia weapon and giving it the power an effective assault rifle needs. A lot of inspiration to incorporate the delayed blowback, roller lock operation came from the Spanish CETME modelo 58 [now replaced], which's initial design was based off the model 45 Assault Rifle.

Further recoil is handled by the exceptionally small round in use [see below], a two round burst as opposed to a three round burst, and a muzzle break. Unfortunately, all these designs are counteracted by the fact that the rifle uses a magnum configuration, powering a 73 grain round with a large binary liquid propellant.

Frequent Rounds Operated:
.221 Aluminum Orchomenos
The new .221 bullet design is designed to keep the underestimated possiblities of the .221 Fireball, but to make it even lighter, allowing for an even greater achieved muzzle velocity. Total weight of the round is 73 grains. The rifle round has excellent aerodynamic properties at long ranges, mirroring that of the Fireball, which has already been suggested by many to replace standard NATO rifle rounds for the M-16 . In fact, throughout its history, the .221 Fireball has been underestimated by most. Fortunately, its cause has been understood by Kriegzimmer, and so an improved version was destined for use on the Hali-42. At the tip the round uses a series of barbettes, first used in the American Civil War, and it's designed to cause major damage within the impact zone, making the round harder to extract, and more damaging to the human body. Beyond that, the round also uses a delayed electrical spark fuze, allowing the round to puncture, then blow, causing the explosion to theoritically occur inside the victim's body, not on impact. Maximum muzzle velocity with the .221 Orchomenos has been caught at 1,070 meters per second.
[b].223 API Orchomenos
The .223 API Orchomenos is an armor piercing projectile designed to penetrate battle suits at high velocities. The round replaces the .221 Orchomenos when an enemy is known to use battle suits, but normally, the rifle uses the .221 version. This round also uses an internal barbette to maximize potential damage, with a delayed fuze.
.221 Binary Sarin Orchomenos Biological Round
In compliance with foreign needs, a variant of the .221 Orchomenos was designed to carry Sarin to make it even deadlier. Although not standard in Macabee forces, it is a round manufactured by Kriegzimmer. In order to increase shelf life the Sarin is composed and stocked in a binary method, making shelf life rather irrelevent. The round spins on terminal flight to produce the effects of Sarin. On impact the round will cause bleeding at several points on the subject, and permanent damange to the central nervous system, possibly killing them, but more likely to put them out of action indefinately. The Ejermacht has ruled out the use of Sarin rounds, but it is a popular export. Muzzle velocity, since the round is a tad heavier, is around 990 m/s.
Additional Information:
The Hali-42's barrel is fully modular, allowing it to be exchanged quite easily by camp forges in order to use other rounds. It can also be sold with a specialized muzzle to cope with the purchasing nation's round of choice, allowing the Hali-42 to be highly versatile and not dependent on the round in use by the Ejermacht. In other words, the barrel is interchangeable, although not on the field. The rest of the rifle is modular as well, making cheap replacement parts for the rifle easy, and making for a very simple cleaning operation.

Its either a bayonet or M203. Some designers are of the opinion that bayonets are obsoete and boyonet lugs are no longer needed. I don't share that thought.

By all means put your rifle up for competition, while it''s true 7.62mm rounds have an edge, if the performance is good enough it could win.

Fortunately, the MBRS can fit both, thanks to a side-fitted bayonet lug, a'la the AN-94 design. The MBRS however, uses an indigenously designed "T-03" underbarrel grenade launcher and cannot fit the M-203 without some modification, although the AG-36 can be used.

Think I might be staying out of this competition. The design might need a little brushing up first.

Composite Structure Explained: Using highly durable plastics such as polyethylene, and Vectran Re-enforced plates to make corrosion almost a thing of the past even in the most harsh environments. Alumna-Oxide makes up the barrel, chamber and other integral internal parts for it's super lightweight and insanely high melting temperature. Near that of diamonds, and as for the 40 round clip the minimal 6.8 millimeter is very ergonomic as well as keeping it's deadly abilities. Even at it's maximum range in testing at 3400 meters the bullet plowed through a American Military standard issue helmet because of the immense muzzle velocity as none of the escaping gasses are let out. It is also extremely reliable due to the fact that it is impossible to jam; doesn't use the complex bullet mechanism used in the G11, and has ample room for parts to move in and the immense heat or super cold temperatures it can withstand. Also because of it's lower than 2000 RPM clock rate for sustained fire you no longer risk mis-fires. Also ample room behind the grip and trigger is given to the magazine so loading is an easy and quick task. It also comes with a delayed recoil system in which the barrel reciprocates separately from the gun into the body of the gun to have the recoil softened by a small set of springs and air. Which, when the barrel is forced back from recoil; the air is compressed and softens the blow. After which is let out under the butt stock killing recoil dead; well on single shot or 3 round burst that is. To make for more accessability and conveniance it also sports a universal sling mount similar to that of the M60 Mk.2 . Also a Muzzle Break similar to the ground breaking and so far at the forefront of Muzzle Break technology similar to that of the AK-101 or something to that effect as it is in the Kalashnikov series which points the gasses at a 45 degree angle compensating for recoil and for the rise of the gun. Despite that our break comes with the ability to be easily tuned with the use of a small cast iron knob to the users prefrence. Also this 45 degree angle and the length of which the barrel sticks out has the gas miss the operators head by almost a complete foot. The only way the hot expanding gasses could his an operator is if he placed it at his waist. When coupled with all of these other systems it manages to almost fully kill recoil dead leaving to feeling the power to that of less than a low end low grain .35 special bullet; even less with the use of a sling. Despite all these, the 16 inch barrel sports an extremely easy barrel change out

Accessories: Anything mountable upon a RAIL/Pincatty mount. Which includes scopes and bayonettes. Also a free ACOG Reflex HOLO sight comes free for mounting upon the Picatinny RAIL Mount.

Other Comments: An improvement on the old G7 design to replace it with more range, stopping power, accuracy, and velocity. This is to standardize ammunition use; and Rifle usage.

Stepping off the plane, Jordan Antioch hefted his briefcase and stepped into the armored cargo truck that had rolled out of the back of the Behemoth. As the truck rolled towards the designated testing range, Jordan did a final check of the inventory: a hundred M25s, a hundred thousand rounds of ammo, a few hundred grenades, and another hundred SmartVision goggles. Everything in order, Jordan lowered his hat over his eyes and snoozed as the truck rolled on towards its destination.

OOC: Sorry for the long wait, I just finished moving back in for the summer. Note to self, don't bring so much useless crap with me to Uni next year...
