The year is 1895, west Europe is still in the scramble for Africa, but its end is coming…but before it ends more nations will take colonies however…some nations look to expand there boarders in the Balkans, African and Asian nations cling to there independence and the world is Americas are filled with nations, some like the U.S. are isolationist, others are almost as imperialistic as the European powers, if a bit more dependent then them…What will you do with your nation in the next hundred years from 1895? Turn it into a world power? Make it a peace-loving nation?

ok so the year is 1895 on January 1 to start and ends in 1995, unless we get there and want to keep going. Once you have your nation picked, make a factbook. anyone who joins is allowed one "major" change (i have taken Spain, and i have changed my history by having King Alfonso XII still alive, this makes for a somewhat stronger Spain then in RL, though still not super)

Proposed time scale is 1 day = 1 month with slower time for major wars

So, unless you have more questions, or even if you do, sign up now as any European, American, Asian, or African nation that still exists or existed in 1895

Cool, thanks. I'm thinking that due to Roosevelt's highly imperialist policy, if he had a promotion then the navy would have a few more pre-dreadnoughts- not that many, just like two- three more. Would that be ok?

Thanks, that helps a lot. I don't imagine much will have changed in twenty years if it does come to warfare, but I'll probably try to stay out of major conflicts until then.

As a sidenote, how are we doing this? I would suggest that each nation has their own factbook thread at least. As for actual interactions, should it all be in one other thread or in seperate threads for each interaction?

yes, make a factbook thread, post the link here so i can attach it to your nation on the first page. and we should have one main thread, but we will have smaller threads for other things(each war will have a different thread, ext)

current president is Grover Cleveland, and will remain there for 2 years. standing army at this time(as i now it, could be different) is 100,000 and the navy as i know it has (with your Battleships added)

If possible, could somebody please point me towards some information on the actual size of units in the Russian Army? I know about 15 million people served in the Russian Army during WWI, but I'm not sure how that translates into sizes of Corps, Brigades, Divisions etc.

Also, if anybody has any information on the vessels used at the time by the Navy, I would appreciate it.

I didnt see it on the taken list, so can i have The German Empire?

OOC: The Battle of Puebla (that event Cinco de Mayo celebrates) was fought on May 5, 1862, 33 years before the start of this RP.

Plus, whether or not the French had held a stable puppet state in Mexico (the mockery that was called the Empire of Mexico cannot be classified as stable) for longer than its actual duration (3 years), it would have been very likely that the United States, upon defeating the South, would have mobilized and army to invade Mexico and oust the French (Monroe Doctrine).

As a matter of fact, General Grant had already recieved orders by President Lincoln just after the surrender of the Confederacy to mobilize an Army in Southern Texas for that very purpose.

So you might want to either:

A. Work out a viable comprimise with the United States
B. Think of something else.

France, has so far as i know, the second largest navy at this point(my info on Germany's navy at this time makes it look small, not sure how accurate that is) though the ships may be a bit older

i personaly think there are to many Torpedo Boats and Destroyers in the listed US fleet for this time....

Edit: i did some more looking, and though you have alot more building going on, it would seem the US was never big on Torpedo Boats and

Ah, okay, my apologies. You said 'some torpedo boats and destroyers' I believe, so I based the small ships in my factbook off an increased version of what Russia posted, since those were the only other statistics available. I'll lower them now.

I believe, navy wise, it goes Britain, France, USA, and then perhaps Russia or Germany.

also, SUbmarines are not to big yet, so far as my stats put it there are 3 in the French navy, none in the German or British, one in the Spanish, Portugese, and Italian navies and no others

(i should check the Russian navy again)

so is this going to be about us conquering Africa and everyone else.

Africa only has a few free states left in 1895, but colonizing the free states will probably be a big part in this
