"Greebo!"

The hurled stone struck the boy across the back of the skull, and he staggered with a yelp of pain. A snicker was heard from behind as the three assailants followed the victim.

They had spotted the teenager leaving a known alternative music establishment three streets away. Being dressed in black clothing and having lengthy hair was naturally unnacceptable for the three Burberry-clad college dropouts that had been walking in the other direction, so naturally they began heckling the boy.

Now it was turning violent. Clutching the back of his head, the boy brought away his hand to observe a smear of blood where the rock had cut his scalp. Quickening his pace, he tried to ignore the three Chavs that continued to follow, who by now had reloaded and begun aiming more shrapnel in his direction.

A particularly large piece of acquired paving caught the fleeing boy on the back of the leg, and he fell with a sharp stabbing pain in his shin. The hyena-like laughing continued, and, sensing victory, the three Chavs moved in for the kill.

As the fifteen-year-old boy on the ground braced himself for a beating, the sound of footsteps caused him to jerk his head around in the direction he was travelling. Initially fearing more attackers, he was relieved to see three older men standing on the pavement, each in a shirt denoting a different Metal band, and each with a grim look on their face.

The three Chavs hesitated, looking up at the new arrivals. The leader of the group stepped forward and sneered. "What's the matter, don't think you can take us without help?"

The man standing in the centre of the three Metalheads was in his early twenties, but seemed older from his stance and expression. He sported a scar across his cheek from an unknown encounter, and he stared at the three Chavs with a pair of deep hazel eyes through a pair of thin-framed spectacles. "Considering how you tend to operate," he said calmly in a well-spoken English accent. "I find that a little hypocritical."

The Chav was about to retort when footsteps behind him caused him to stop. Turning, the three assailants found themselves caught between several Metalheads that had left the same establishment as the victim. Not wanting to press their luck with sheer stupidity, the Chav threw a dirty look in the direction of the man with glasses before beating a hasty exit with his two lackeys across the street and along the road.

Taking a step forward, the young man with glasses knelt down to the boy. "Are you okay?" he asked kindly.

The boy nodded. "Thanks," he said gratefully, looking around the others in order to share the appreciation with everyone.

The Metalhead cast a look down the street in the direction the Chavs had gone. "Don't worry," he said calmly. "Come the Revolution, they'll be the first against the wall."

The fifteen-year-old boy looked at the man with glasses in puzzlement. "What Revolution?"

The Metalhead looked back at the boy. "What's your name?" he asked after a moment's silence.

"Alan," the boy said.

The Metalhead smiled. "I'm Chris Jackson." He held out his hand to the boy, helping him to his feet. "Let's get you something for your head."

The group of Metalheads numbered sixteen men and women in different band shirts but one alleigiance moved back towards the Pub, where numerous drinks would be consumed over Alan's education into the preachings of Metal Chris.

OOC: A degree of both - I'm going to have a Dictatorship nation based on Metalhead rule, and in some ways it's going to be a little reminiscent of Fascism, particularly in the realm of freedom of expression and the 'Musical Nationalism' concept I'm going to orientate my nation around. However, in other ways, it's going to be pretty libertarian both socially and economically. I still need to decide those elements after writing this back story and bringing the world up to date on my version of Britain based on if I ruled the country.

The Old Angel Inn

Revolution Minus One Year

To wander down one of the many roads of the city of Nottingham would be to find a small, unassuming drinking establishment on the corner of two pedestrian-only walkways at 7 Stoney Street, not far from the well-known Rock City live music venue. Were you able to gain access through the two large, confrontational Metalheads on the door, you would be faced with a wood-clad, smoky, somewhat decrepit drinking establishment that could not be viewed any other way then as an alternative music hotspot. In days past, the inn had the interestingly contrasting history of being once a church and a brothel, although not at the same time. Now, it was the staging point for revolutionary fervour as the years of conflict and tension between groups in Britain reached a head.

From one corner of the room, Alan Davies watched the assembled group of Metalheads with a close eye that had been developed after two years in the company of Revolutionaries. Now 17, Alan was a taller, slightly more muscular veteran of Metal Revolutionary activity that had seen him involved in three large-scale fights, two revenge beatings and a handful of bodyguard attacks since coming under the wing of the dark-haired 21-year-old that sat in the booth at the corner of the room and the centre of the crowd, answering questions and explaining his ideas. He sat with a glass of Vodka & Coke in one hand and clenched fingers in the other as he emphasised a point he was making by banging his fist on the table.

Alan took a swig from his own glass of lager and focused back in on the conversation that was taking place. He still liked hearing people introduced to the ideas of what Chris had termed ‘Metalism’, with his own fond memories of the first time he had sat, as a 15 year-old, and listened in open-mouthed awe to the words of his protégé.

“But surely our society is based on tolerance of different viewpoints?” one person was asking. To this, Metal Chris shook his head, took a sip from his alcoholic refresher, and replied.

“The fundamental fraud under which our society works,” he explained, “is that all viewpoints and beliefs are treated equally.” He spread his arms in an open gesture. “You simply have to look around to see discrimination and oppression everywhere.” Chris took a sip of his drink once more. “Tolerance is preached by the politicians to gain them votes, but the average person in the street wants familiarity. Differences in ideas and opinions confuse and disorient.”

“But surely as individuals, we are entitled to make that decision ourselves?” another person asked.

Chris looked at the person for a long moment. A dark-haired girl, probably five feet and six inches in height, stood patiently waiting for a response. She wore an Iron Maiden shirt depicting the artwork of the Trooper. Eddie grinned evilly out of the shirt as he charged across a desecrated battlefield, the torn but defiant Union Flag waving from a flagpole gripped in both hands.
Chris smiled after a moment. “What’s your name?” he asked the girl.

The girl blinked, looking at the Metalhead with dark green eyes. “Gemma,” she said in a soft voice.

Chris nodded, leaning back in his chair and gesturing the girl over to take a seat next to him. Once she had done so, he cleared his throat. “The concept of individuality is, for the most part, flawed. We all define ourselves by a uniform, by the group we hang out with.” He grinned, glancing around the group. “Hell, just look at us.”

The group laughed. Chris continued. “We associate ourselves with others on the basis on common interests and enthusiasms.” He smiled. “Most of all, we associate ourselves by identifying an outsider.”

“But how are we better than any other group?” someone else asked.

Chris smiled slightly, contemplating his answer for several seconds. “Because we’re going to win,” he said simply.

The debates continued late into the night, as the Cause gained more recruits.

In twelve months time, it would all come to fruition.

The Metal Revolution beckoned.

OOC: Would Pythogria be able to send the revolution money?

OOC: Thankyou for the offer - it would help my backstory a little as a justification of how they come to power. My general idea for the Revolution is a systematic pandemic scale of civil unrest where the Metalheads rise up against City and County government and law enforcement. Military Officers sympathetic to the cause, along with those bribed, will offer no response to the attacks, and this will force the civilian leadership to surrender. The money given by Pythogria could be said to be part of how all that is paid for.

However, I want to stress that I intend to have very limited interaction in this RP, as I don't want people coming in and preventing this from happening. But this idea helps me, so is good.

Pretty much react the same way a regular Army would - except they'd be charging into battle with massive loudspeakers blaring out Iron Maiden and Dragonforce. :)
