The Holy Empire of Thu Tempest is a large, devout nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 20 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.
The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Religion & Spirituality. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 16%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing, Basket Weaving, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales industries.
Military spending is on the increase, punitive tariffs protect local industry, aye-ayes are considered a delicacy, and employers may fire workers without giving any reason. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Thu Tempest's national animal is the aye-aye, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the button. But...
Citizens of the faith are speaking of cleansing the government. First by diplomatics, but if that doesn't work there maybe war. All ready some of the college students have begun to protest and recently there was a theft at a local gun store. So, if a civil war takes place whos side will you be on.

A band of college students have taken over town square here in Lincoln. They are armed with 2 assult rifles and variuos hand guns. Its been reported that there are 8 hostages and 13 students.
