OOC: This is presented as an intelligence report from an "outside source" (a spy).
An Intelligence Report on the Pirates of the Condemned Systems

The confederacy of pirates from the Condemned Sector have been getting more and more dangerous, and leniency towards the bastards will only encourage others to join them. Their occasional raids have turned into bloody occupations, and their fleets are larger than ever. It is imperative that these fleets are destroyed. To help any nation willing to do this, I have included as much information as I could find on them.

The Armed Republic of Liberated New Ireland is not a nation in the usual sense. Rather, it is a confederacy of raider fleets, inhabiting a star cluster known as the Condemned Systems. The systems are dimly illuminated by dying stars. The few rocks and planets have no resources of value. It's economy is driven by booty captured when one of the fleets goes out on a campaign.

Parents and children are housed on Slaughter Five, fifth planet of the Slaughter system. While the ARLNI is harsh on individuals, the fleets are highly protective of this planet. It's the closest thing the raiders have to a homeworld.

The military is organized into ten fleets:
The Celtic Knight Fleet - 30 ships
The Dark Knight Fleet - 34 ships
The Storm Crows - 16 ships
The Black Ravens - 23 ships
The Gouged Eye Fleet - 10 ships
The Fomorian Fleet - 40 ships
The Dead Space Fleet - 22 ships
The Red Banner Fleet - 11 ships
The Scourge of Night - 18 ships
The Stained Claymore - 24 ships

The most common ship type is the LNINC-Kern class cruiser. Some raiders use the LNINC-Claymore class cruiser, a more powerful but less maneuverable ship. The LNIF-Fianna is used for fighter support, and the LNIB-Banshee is used as a bomber and for CAS duties. All ships are heavily modified, and tend to be quite old (decades, if not centuries). Images and statistics of the ships will be added later.

Sincerely,
Your Inside Source

The LNI is willing to loan fleets out as privateers, and is also willing to ally with other pirate groups, to better plunder the galaxy.

Some more notes on LNI:
-A small, but signifigant, portion of the population on Slaughter Five are passive Psykers. They have no offensive capability to speak of, but are very sensitive, detecting disturbances and nuances in the Warp (which allows use of warpspace engines in the fleet), and have the ability to detect the possesions and cargo of another vessel (very useful to the raiders' operations).

- The LNI ships were not designed for stand-up fighting. Compared to most cruisers, their armor is easily penetrated, and they have less advanced weaponry than their counterparts. However, they are very manueverably, and slip in and out of areas very easily. The ships break the light barrier in two ways. They predominantly use standard FTL Jump Drives. If Interdictors are used against them, however, they will quickly drop into the Warp, and use their Psyker Navigator to make it safely to their destination.

-The name for the "Rage and Hellfire" phenomenon was coined by a witness of one of the pirates' raids. The outdated FTL drives that they use create a huge amount of low-frequency light radiation when the light barrier is crossed. Therefore, all the target sees for the first few seconds of an attack is a bright red light. Furthermore, to demoralize and confuse their opponents, while psyching themselves for battle, the pirates broadcast the sounds of their own war cries and shouts, modified with a sound mixer to sound incredibly demonic, over all bands. This makes communication hard for both sides, but the pirates are used to individual action, unlike their targets.
