OOC: Aggressor needed (FT)
Snake Eaters

Alright, I'll lay the story out for you when the proposed thread opens:
Snake Eaters and Kaymiril have, for the first time in their history, established a joint-colony on the only habitable world in the Prial system. This world is temperate, mostly rolling grass plains with some high plateaus and arctic regions to the far North and South. The primary city, which includes the space-port, fuses aspects of both cultures to create a place like no other. There are, of course, other, smaller settlements dotted around, but nothing on the scale of the city itself.
However, whilst the Prial system has been claimed in the name of both nations, it is very close to the borders of <insert name here>'s borders as well. This nation is not happy about such a colony being so close to their borders, believing it to be in readiness for an assualt on that nation. In response, they launch a first strike, say against a merchant vessel of some sort, claiming it was carrying munitions for the war effort.
The actual bulk of the thread would consist of sporadic combat between forces in the area, along with diplomacy in an attempt to find a solution to the problem. It can remain as an isolated flashpoint, or it could escalate into a minor, or even major, conflict.
The only qualities we are looking for are: Good RP'ing skills, with little to no history of godmodding, etc. Also, ability to accept defeat is essential - you cannot win all the time, after all. Finally, you must be able to stay realistic. No saying: 'My ships are 100 kilometres long, and cannot be damaged in any way' etc, and so on and so forth.
When you make your application, flesh it out a little, like saying exactly why your nation does what it does.
Post your interests here, and we (that is, Kaymiril and myself) will consider all applications. Hell, we might even decide to have more than one aggressor, which would make it even more dangerous for all sides.

PICK ME!
You know me, you know how I roll, and it fills in a plotline Kay and I have been kicking around for awhile.
Also, if she's on, can you ask her to get on AIM?

I might be interested but I have a few questions first. Would this thing lead to an all out war or just stay little battles and skirmishes in the Prial system? And is it going to be an open event or closed to anybody that does not sign up here?
I don't really want to start a big war that could end my nation if not played right just so I can help somebody's storyline, and if it's open to everyone, well, I have some guys that are looking for any reason to go to war with me, so I would have to be careful.

If you read the first post again, it does say it could lead to a larger conflict, or it could remain as a flashpoint, it depends on the actions of both sides. It will be closed to anyone who does not sign up.

Why don't you just wait until a nation with an actual reason for being an aggressor comes along instead of trying to enlist one...
...you'll find that your RP will become far greater if the reason for the conflict is RPed as well as the RP itself, and not manufactured OOC.

A good point. One that is currently being taken under consideration.

I’d be very interested in this, it fits perfectly with my nations ideals at the moment. They are extremely expansive and suspicious of foreign powers (at religious level to some extent).
Taken from another post:
A bit of background is the ‘Coming Shadow’ prophecy which is firmly entwined in Wintrees Culture after contact with the Mart’tuks of Planet Tor (which we very quickly conquered).
The Prophecy very basically is that, when a certain number of conditions are met, the ‘Envelopers of Suns’ will appear from the darkness and cast down their shadows, which will leave none who live in the light alive, only those who embrace darkness will survive. The shadows shall grow darker and longer until they have blotted out all the light in the sky and turn both the day and night to nothingness.
So basically, end of the galaxy (universe) kind of stuff. The Prophecy, being vague as it is has led to many variations, cults and beliefs. The Mart’turks who are said to be the decedents of those who first wrote the prophecy hide far below the earth. When the humans (Wintrees) found out about the prophecy most saw it as nothing but a fairy tale, some started cults which embraced the darkness but they are few and far between and are mostly under ground. The underlying belief however extends to Wintrees foreign policy, which is very suspicious of foreigners (‘Are they the Shadows?’) etc.
Although the above is religious it isn’t a fanatical religion that governs Wintrees, Lord Seric is the Emperor after a bloodless (and in most cases, well concealed) coup (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=446080). Hes slowly tightening his grip on the Empire’s infrastructure, bringing it ever more closely under his control, through the RPA (Royal Protection Agency) and cutting out the military and civil government. People of course object to this and there is a growing rebel movement (although it isn’t a threat to the Empire as yet).

If either of us tried waiting AROUND for an agressor, we could grow old and gray IRL before this happened.
We're finding someone else that we will share a common-ish border with, and setting up a little colony right on their back yard, as it were.
Enough reason for a small conflict, at the least, I think.

Further point: Our first volunteer, MM, doesn't have the greatest IC history with SE, or Kaymiril really. So, IC'ly, it actually fits. Doesn't mean we'll pick him, but...

I'd be perfect. On the other hand, pick whoever you want. I just tyhought this'd be a good way to complete an idea Kay and I kicked around for awhile.

Though I haven't been much RPing with SE or Kay, my nation is pretty pissy about borders.
We're led by Dark Jedi guys who frequently compete for power, and the intrusion of an outside force gives rise to a common enemy who the pent-up angers of the Dark Lords can be focused against.
I've lost to Kraven Corp, so that's something right there. I seem to lose frequently to larger nations, and have a history of getting blown out of the water in individual battles a lot. As for godmoding, except for when I had around 80 posts, I haven't done any that I'm really aware of. I've been in a lot of FT RPs and have a good backround, and can make quality posts.
My military is a focused machine, but it has its strengths and weaknesses. I'm currently compiling a large Amazonian FT reference where all my FT stats on my nation can be found. It also explains a lot about history, current projections, technology, personas, and more.

I'm glad people are giving IC reasons. This thread is also about playing with possibilities.

After deliberation, we have made our choices: MM and WinTrees, you are both in. The IC thread is here: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=480641
To those who didn't get in, sorry, it's just the way it goes
