For a while now I’ve tried to come up with ways to fit in/create stories for my ‘Lord Seric’ story-arc. Unfortunately I’ve been unable to do this to my satisfaction, so I’m going to kill him off.
First, abit of background:
Coming to power: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=446080
Seric is your average evil guy, when he was exiled from Wintrees he traveled the galaxy looking for revenge. On the way he picked up the many supernatural abilities and scientific innovations to make him a very dangerous man… in both politics and combat.
The next bit of background is the ‘Coming Shadow’ prophecy which is firmly entwined in Wintrees Culture after contact with the Mart’tuks of Planet Tor (which we very quickly conquered).
The Prophecy very basically is that, when a certain number of conditions are met, the ‘Envelopers of Suns’ will appear from the darkness and cast down their shadows, which will leave none who live in the light alive, only those who embrace darkness will survive. The shadows shall grow darker and longer until they have blotted out all the light in the sky and turn both the day and night to nothingness.
So basically, end of the galaxy (universe) kind of stuff. The Prophecy, being vague as it is has led to many variations, cults and beliefs. The Mart’turks who are said to be the decedents of those who first wrote the prophecy hide far below the earth. When the humans (Wintrees) found out about the prophecy most saw it as nothing but a fairy tale, some started cults which embraced the darkness but they are few and far between and are mostly under ground.
Something which was never reveled to the public led to Tor being evacuated and turned into a military base and the entire commonwealth going on a war footing for 20 years before it stood down. The area of nebulae and black holes around Tor was also heavily reinforced with mines/battle stations. The nebulae makes space travel in the area a serious problem and every few years or so it would become impossible for a period of time (with the exception of the Keelth>Tor warp gate link). This disturbance becomes more and more intensive every year.
Moving back to the present, when Seric took power there were a few that didn’t agree with the take-over and had suspicions that he was at the heart of the bombings. They were the founding members of the Rebellion, or ‘The Free Colonies’. They started with only a few ships and personnel, and took heavy casualties in pitched battles. Recently the Rebellion has started to receive more support after the RPA (Royal Protection Agency, made up of clones, answering to Seric) took control of Planet Tor and most checkpoints in the Empire. Whole ships going over to the ‘Free Colonies’ is not uncommon. Things are coming to ahead, a big battle is coming.
The situation at the moment is that Seric has effectively poisoned himself and is dying on Tor. He has a plan though, and he knows something that no one else does as well… something which would destroy the galaxy.
Dun dun dun.
This is where everyone else comes in. Tor and the surround area is a big deal, its not something the Rebellion can just walk through, its effectively throwing yourself against a brick wall, they need help.
I want to do something pretty radical with this, big battles and LOTS of bangs. Not the normal slug away at each other until someone throws their toys out the pram. By the end of it I really want the core of my military gutted, a planet destroyed and a hell of a lot of dakka.
It’ll be somewhat scripted (In that Seric dies and the ‘goodies’ win), but I hope to have a lot of twists and turns getting there.
If anyone fancies like getting in on this, on either side, register your interest here and we’ll sort out a plot.
