The Automail State

Automailia, The State

The parade was going as expected. The sounds of the soldiers jackboots echoed throughout the city street as the people stood and cheered, waving their miniture-sized Automail State flags, which was a copy of the Cambodian one. The soldiers were doing the traditional goosestep, as their leader--Emperor Hughes stood atop of a balcony of the Automail House watching in his traditional imperial uniform as the soldiers marched down the street in their Germanic uniforms. Hughes had always admired the Germanic uniforms, they showed unity, collectivism with a hint of individuality, and strength. It was only natural for him to choose it as the State's uniform. Hughes realized how much this parade resembled a Nazi-Germany march down their streets, he didn't mind the ideals of Nazi orderism, but racism without any economic, social, or political benefit was generally unhealthy for the State--espically his state. One may question why, or how, the people of Automailia, or the Automail State itself allowed this Quasi-Facist government rise to power. The answer was simple, and Hughes was planning to use it to 'slam' the tinpot democracies who would rush to invade his nation upon catching word of his planes--via the various foreign media cameras observing the proceedings. The answer itself was simple, and any Automailer would see great logic in it and would denounce the falsehood of democracy--the State was their protector, their defender, the State was them in the form of gods. Before he rose to power, before he forged the State, he being the Emperor and the first of many to come, there was simply anarchy. Liberalism has played out to his final stage in Automailia. The people saw what it lead to--rampant social disorder, massive alcohol, tobacco, drug, and sexual abuses, extremely low education standards, revolutions and riots, the lack of a military, and imploded socialist economy--but the one thing it did have was civil liberies. The only problem was, that was the only thing the people had. The government used republicanism, combined with massive and almost unchecked civil liberties, abolishing hate speech, racism, and what it labeled 'phobics'. What did the average Automailer get in exchange for his civil liberies and right to vote? Social Anarchy. Most Automailers were either drug addicts, alcoholics, addicted to sex, or worse, all three. The Old State told the people to do what they pleased--just don't hurt anyone. In the end, the people weren't smart enough to do things on their own and found themselves destroying, well, themselves. Eventually the government collapsed and gave rise to what one would called True Anarchy. No fighting, no grouping, no laws, no restrictions, people were in a sense perfect--at least in Social Darwinian terms.

Liberals from outside of Automailia would have praised the people of the Old State for managing such an impossible feat. Though this all came at a price--equlivant exchange. Drug abuse lead to a surge in mentally unstable people, and the other social 'freedoms' which the people were permitted turned ugly and a sharp rise in the insane, mentally unstable, and 'Thinking' Criminals (those whom planned their murders and such) saw such a surge that this pure anarchy turned ugly. Thousands were dying each day, with no established healthcare system, viruses and epidemics spread across the Old State. Without trade, which had been abolished long ago with the Military, the people could not get valuble resources they needed to survive, and were only being supplied in small quantites by the Old State before it collapsed. With no military the criminals could not be fought. With only criminals able to obtain weaponry, via a very extensive black market which set up, these criminals were easily able to overpower the stick-wielding Automailers. Brutality, crime, agony, and pain were the orders of the day--it was how every Automailer lived out their existance. Anarchy brought just was the name and ideal implied--no restraints upon society. For five hundred years the people constantly lived in pain, poverty, oppression, and crime unchallanged.

This was until a group of people were tired of this anarchy--by this point they hated Liberalism and everything it stood for. Individual liberty, the unchallanged verison of it, which the Old State media protrayed as moral, and just caused such pain, such suffering that a handful of people realized what it really was--evil. These people rallied together, and established the first military fort in close to seven hundred years. Weapons were gained via the black market. Training begin, along with the establishment of a small government. Over the coarse of a century, thousands flocked to the military base as he expanded. Wars were fought to hold back the criminals and anarchists as they tried to keep order from reestablishing itself. Due to their natural desire to not group together, work together, or generally establish a command structure, they were in no shape, or condition to fight and most just rallied together and led a massive assault on the Military Base. This group, whom for a century simply called themsleves "The Base", now established themselves as the reincarnation of a long abolished instituion, the Military.

With weapons, leadership, and training, the Military had no problem holding back the tide of criminals and anarchists. It was only a matter of time before offensive campaigns began--it was around this time that Hughes took command of the Military via a bloody coup. The 'Campaigns' are they were called were very successful pushing the anarchists into the moutains, while pushing the criminals into the swamps. This left the gate to the forbidden lands open. The forbidden lands were in essense the former Capital City of the Old State. Forbidden because anyone who gazed upon it wanted to return the Government to power. Forbidden, also, because it was a symbol of how Liberalism, of how anarchism, was a complete failure. The Military marched in unopposed. The War of Order was over.

It had been twenty years since that day. Twenty long years. Hughes has done all he could to keep the anarchists in the mountains, and the criminals in the swamps. Going so far as sealing off those areas of the country via a wall and placing troops there to contain them until further notice. The State was established along with the new force known as the State Army. The cities of old were rebuilt, Liberalism stamped into extinction, and Society restored. Hughes smirked as he saw how far he'd brought the country--the State as he called it. How could the people accept this dictatorship was the question he'd asked himself before? Simple--they had no other choice. Democracy and Republicanism failed them once, liberalism was an absolute failure which lead to more deaths than any of the State or the Old State's civil wars. The people admired the State, as the it worked day in and day out trying to break the drug-addicted from their addiction, as alcohol was taken from peoples homes and smashed for their own good. While oral sex, adultary, and various other 'immoral' sexual activities were banned and the punishment for being caught doing so was extremely harsh. Hughes knew this could gain him international condemantion, if not invasion, but he needed only to point out the State has an crime rate so low it was basically non-existant. That it had a Society to be proud of, not a group of pot-smoking 'hippies' as he called them.

Though he did something more than all--the thing which would gain him international attention was the temple he was builting off to the east of the city. From where even he stood you could plainly see it. It rose hundreds of feet into the sky. It was elequent, made from granite and marble and other stones it stood as a testament of the power of man. Whom was this temple to? To himself of coarse. The Temple of Hughes as it would be known. He was going to achieve god-like status in the country. The people had to worship him. One may ask by what divine right do you assume control of the State, and pick you successor? Which god, gods, or God gave you the right to do so? Hughes reply was always simply: "I need not ask for permission or right from my equals". Hughes knew he was an egomaniac, but he too was liberal at one time. He too thought that the Old State should never return, and that anarchy should continue to control the land. Prehaps his short-comings came from being a liberal.

Suddenly, breaking Hughes from his day-dreaming and walk down memory lane was the deep voice of a man from behind, "M'lord, the priests summon you. It is time." Hughes turned around and nodded are the large man standing behind him--he was Field Marshall Romankov, basically his second-in-command in all but title. Romankov and Hughes made their way down from the Metallic House and into a military vehicle stationed at the front door. Hughes entered the vehicle followed by Romankov. Romankov was dressed in a royal blue verison of the German officer's uniform. The vehicle took off down the road. As they appoarched the Temple of Hughes they both got a better look at the structure itself. It had encarved into it a movie almost of how Hughes lead the Military. Starting with his first victory over a vastly superior force, then leading up to his coup, following by the Mountain and Swamp Campaigns which opened the road to the Capital City. Also encarved was him helping drug-addicts, alcoholics, and sex-addicts to become cleansed of their addictions. Along with Hughes using the State Army to impose the will of the State upon all those whom try to deny its rightful rule over them.

The temple ground were paved with red bricks, Hughes noticed this as the vehicle stopped right outside the two giantic gate doors of the Temple Grounds. Hughes went to get out. "Good luck," said Romankov as Hughes exited the vehcile. "I am luck," said Hughes has he walked away from the vehicle, closing the door behind him. People were cheering along the brick road to the gate doors. They awaited for Hughes to become a god. Two large men, known as Templers pushed the gate opened as Hughes walked up--after he entered the gate was closed.

Time outside the temple went by agonizingly slow. The people stood quiet as the proceedings inside of the temple went on strangely quiet. They expected some vast fireworks display--something divine in nature. Even the State Army began to relax themselves and their formations. Romankov, whom was still in the area, quickly fixed this by personally going up and pushing soldiers back in line. As Romankov pushed and kicked the soldiers back into line the temple gates opened up. Romankov stopped and watched as a figure emerged. Once the sunlight came from behind a rogue cloud the figure could be seen. It was Emperor Hughes. He didn't looked different. The people looked on, clearly unimpressed. One person, clearly drunk, stummbled up to York. Romankov was about to order a soldier to fire when Hughes raised his hand.

"Yea...mister god-fellow, you aint foolin' nobody," said the drunk getting in Hughes face.

"One less criminal to worry about," said Hughes before delivering a uppercut a breakneck speed. So hard was the uppcut that the drunk's head nearly came off. He flew several feet into the air and landed on the ground, very dead. Hughes than continued his way back into the car where Romankov as rushed over to await him.

"M'lord, everything went well I assume? You are now a god?" asked Romankov. Hughes smiled, "Something a little better, actually"

The two then entered the car and it drove gracefully away, as thousands suddenly rushed into the Temple of Hughes to worship this new-found Automail god.

[OOC: You can get involved because all this was seen via foreign press cameras, which are rarely allowed in but for this they were. And naturally hearing someone declare themsleves a god and backing it up with a several million dollar temple would attract some press. You can post condemnations, regrets, praises, and comment on the RP itself if you wish.]

[OOC @ Ftagn: Yep, but you remeber me as the Dictatorship of Automail. Lost the password to that account, so I just pulled this one, a puppet from back then, out of the trash heap and decided to go with it. Also I await yawls replies.]

OOC: So, is this new nation completely unrelated, or can I assume prior diplomatic relations?

The Eternal Emperor, bearer of light and divine lord of Ftagn, offers his congratulations on ridding Automailia of the stain of rebellion, and hopes that continued diplomatic relations could be mutually beneficial to both our countries.

If the new god of Automaila ever needs assistance, Ftagn will be there.

The Empire thanks Ftagn--the reestablishment of the State after so many years of pain and suffering is one thing, to know that we still have allies who have remained concerned about us throughout all of this means much to us.

As for your assistance to myself, it is always welcome. Though ask yourself, why would a god need help?

His Divine Majesty Hughes

The Commonwealth of Rosdivan would like assurances that the right of the people to worship in accord with their conscience is not infringed and permission to send observers to confirm that no religious persecution is taking place.

Offical State Statement

In response to Rosdivan's statement...

At the moment there is only one permitted religion permitted or even practiced for that matter. State Worship. As for your observers, you should feel blessed to have even gazed upon the lands of The State. They have been closed for several centuries. So in brief, your request for observers is denied.

"Not exactly the most friendly of people, are they?" asked Lord Protector John Melkovich rhetorically upon reading the statement. Foreign Minister Abraham Monarch chuckled as he responded.

"No sir, they don't seem to be all that enthused about foreigners."

"I don't like this lack of access. Tell the Navy to send in a Raider team. We'll have them observe and see what goes on."

And so orders began passing down the line. A week later, a dozen men would enter "The State", courtesy of a Rosdivan submarine. They had simple orders. Don't attract attention, don't get caught, and take lots of pictures.

The Empire of The State

There are those who would conspire to kill gods. The Emperor knows.

Even in his might, the Emperor realizes that his power alone is not enough. If it were so, there would be no need for the Imperial Legions. Do not grow overconfident. It is a weakness, and gods cannot be shown to have weakness for reasons that should be obvious....
