Madnestan

Governmental Media (the one and only source of public information in Madnestan) Additional News;
Good evening, comrades. We have unfortunately been forced to interrupt whatever it is you were watching, but what we're going to tell you is necessary for all of you to know.
Just few hours ago, first shots were fired in the streets of Tidraya, the capitol of South-East District. Shooters were traitors and criminals from the Eastern slums of the city. They attempted to attack local police station, and despite the determined defence of our surprised law enforcement forces, they would soon have been overrun if the brave troopers of our always reliable SEJEM Security Forces wouldn't have arrived to save the day.
These agitators were dealt with swift and effective operation, during which some dozens of them were killed. However, they achieved some success in their attempt to provoke disorder. Streets of Tidraya were soon filled with increasing numbers of stupid, uneducated youngsters - mostly members of the local Modokovian minority.
More SEJEM forces and ordinary army troops were quickly sent from neighbouring cities and bases, and we expect these riots to be soon suppressed.
There is no need to worry, situation is under control, but we still urge the honourable people of Tidraya to stay out of the streets as much as possible, for your own safety and most of all, to let our magnificent troops operate without having to spare their bullets in fear of hitting innocent people. If a really urgent and unavoidable event forces you to move from your home, contact the local police and they will provide the transport.
Factories and education barracks are, naturally, closed for tomorrow.
Thank you for your time.
Honour to Obey!
This message was delivered to the population via TV, radio and internet throughout the country. Majority of the people reacted pretty much like in previous times some internal unrest had taken place. They were a bit annoyed, angered, but not really afraid.
In Southern parts of the nation, situation was slightly different. People were afraid of another Intifada (it would have been the 15th already) by the Modokovians taking place. Modokovian minority, lliving under the strict control and observation of Madnestian government was a indeed a real pain in the ass.
Those 120 million “Modkovites”, as they were called, are the biggest ethnical minority in this somewhat homogenous country, and are treated with great suspicion by the usually quite non-racist Madnestis. Why, you may ask? Well;
The part of Madnestan that was now South-East District had belonged to Modokov, until it was taken in a war nearly 70 years ago. It had several rich oil fields and the mountains were full of goods just waiting to be dug out. Great portion of Madnestian mining industry was also concentrated here. It was indeed an area worth fighting for… or at least that’s how both governments seemed to think.
However, Modokov was – and still is – a really, really poor nation, and not even nearly as militaristic as its aggressive neighbour. It was clear that they couldn’t beat Madnestian vastly superior warmachine by force. However, the stubbornness of Modokovians living in the conquered area turned out to be really something no one was prepared for. Especially Madnestian Armed Forces. That’s the original reason for the forming of SEJEM – abbreviation of Madnestian words meaning Special Security Forces. It was used to stamp down protests and constant uprisings those cursed Modkovites. (Later the organisation grew in both size and importance though, and nowadays SEJEM is something quite different than it was back in the days Warchief Tamujid founded it.) These rebellions were strongly supported, funded and helped by Modokov.
14 times they had revolted, and 14 times they had been beaten. But they didn’t give up, they refused to accept their fate, and the small-scale guerrilla warfare, bazooka-attacks, assassinations and kidnappings could never be completely suppressed. Sometimes it had looked like the end had come, that all of those “traitors” had been caught and killed, but the “peace” hadn’t ever lasted for more than few months before a major uprising took place again. And after that had been beaten down, like always, Modkovites had a new generation of youngsters full of hatred towards their oppressors. And so the battle continued. The last larger scale rebellion had broken up in 1991, and the second was supposed to come in the near future. Now, even though this wasn’t said out public, everyone knew that “near future” was now there. What had happened in Tidraya would soon happen all around the area.
15th Intifada.
OOC: This is going to be sort of a "warm-up" and excuse for a major war between me and Modokov. It has been agreed with him already, so what you see is not really godmodding. This first post was made to explain the backstory a bit, but more will follow during this week. This uprising will not be like the previous ones... and the blood, the blood will flow like rivers!
