Civil disobedience, ethnical riots and revolting - not again!

Governmental Media (the one and only source of public information in Madnestan) Additional News;

Good evening, comrades. We have unfortunately been forced to interrupt whatever it is you were watching, but what we're going to tell you is necessary for all of you to know.
Just few hours ago, first shots were fired in the streets of Tidraya, the capitol of South-East District. Shooters were traitors and criminals from the Eastern slums of the city. They attempted to attack local police station, and despite the determined defence of our surprised law enforcement forces, they would soon have been overrun if the brave troopers of our always reliable SEJEM Security Forces wouldn't have arrived to save the day.
These agitators were dealt with swift and effective operation, during which some dozens of them were killed. However, they achieved some success in their attempt to provoke disorder. Streets of Tidraya were soon filled with increasing numbers of stupid, uneducated youngsters - mostly members of the local Modokovian minority.
More SEJEM forces and ordinary army troops were quickly sent from neighbouring cities and bases, and we expect these riots to be soon suppressed.

There is no need to worry, situation is under control, but we still urge the honourable people of Tidraya to stay out of the streets as much as possible, for your own safety and most of all, to let our magnificent troops operate without having to spare their bullets in fear of hitting innocent people. If a really urgent and unavoidable event forces you to move from your home, contact the local police and they will provide the transport.

Factories and education barracks are, naturally, closed for tomorrow.

Thank you for your time.

Honour to Obey!

This message was delivered to the population via TV, radio and internet throughout the country. Majority of the people reacted pretty much like in previous times some internal unrest had taken place. They were a bit annoyed, angered, but not really afraid.
In Southern parts of the nation, situation was slightly different. People were afraid of another Intifada (it would have been the 15th already) by the Modokovians taking place. Modokovian minority, lliving under the strict control and observation of Madnestian government was a indeed a real pain in the ass.
Those 120 million “Modkovites”, as they were called, are the biggest ethnical minority in this somewhat homogenous country, and are treated with great suspicion by the usually quite non-racist Madnestis. Why, you may ask? Well;

The part of Madnestan that was now South-East District had belonged to Modokov, until it was taken in a war nearly 70 years ago. It had several rich oil fields and the mountains were full of goods just waiting to be dug out. Great portion of Madnestian mining industry was also concentrated here. It was indeed an area worth fighting for… or at least that’s how both governments seemed to think.
However, Modokov was – and still is – a really, really poor nation, and not even nearly as militaristic as its aggressive neighbour. It was clear that they couldn’t beat Madnestian vastly superior warmachine by force. However, the stubbornness of Modokovians living in the conquered area turned out to be really something no one was prepared for. Especially Madnestian Armed Forces. That’s the original reason for the forming of SEJEM – abbreviation of Madnestian words meaning Special Security Forces. It was used to stamp down protests and constant uprisings those cursed Modkovites. (Later the organisation grew in both size and importance though, and nowadays SEJEM is something quite different than it was back in the days Warchief Tamujid founded it.) These rebellions were strongly supported, funded and helped by Modokov.

14 times they had revolted, and 14 times they had been beaten. But they didn’t give up, they refused to accept their fate, and the small-scale guerrilla warfare, bazooka-attacks, assassinations and kidnappings could never be completely suppressed. Sometimes it had looked like the end had come, that all of those “traitors” had been caught and killed, but the “peace” hadn’t ever lasted for more than few months before a major uprising took place again. And after that had been beaten down, like always, Modkovites had a new generation of youngsters full of hatred towards their oppressors. And so the battle continued. The last larger scale rebellion had broken up in 1991, and the second was supposed to come in the near future. Now, even though this wasn’t said out public, everyone knew that “near future” was now there. What had happened in Tidraya would soon happen all around the area.

15th Intifada.

OOC: This is going to be sort of a "warm-up" and excuse for a major war between me and Modokov. It has been agreed with him already, so what you see is not really godmodding. This first post was made to explain the backstory a bit, but more will follow during this week. This uprising will not be like the previous ones... and the blood, the blood will flow like rivers!

OOC: Is it open? I'd like to get involved, possibly offer to send in a small amount of "peacekeepers"

P.S, is this based on chechnia?

OOC: Sure! The other reason for the existence of this thread is to get some responses from other countries. IC:ly though, my government will not like the idea of foreign troops in its soil... but feel free to ask!

This applies to the whole international community, too.

EDIT: Yes, Chechnya and Palestine were in mind when we planned this.

To the Government and people of Madnestan:

The Government of Northford feels your plight. Having had problems with rebels ourselves in the (distant) past, we have limited experiance on how to deal with them.

In an effort to help a government with those wishing to disregard it's legitimate rule, the Commonwealth of Northford is offering to send a number of peacekeepers abroad, to Madnestan, to help keep order.

If you are interested, please let us know, as we would be more than happy to help.

Regards,

Alan Brooks

“The modokovian people must be freed,” stated the “Trapenk's Daily” on it's front page. It was a comment from one of the national leaders, foreign minister Krahn Dal. “Madnestanian government is brutally surpressing the righteous intifadas of our people living in Madnestan. They (modokovians) are only taking back what belonged to us just before the Occupation 70 years ago. Besides, they've got the right to live free in grounds their ancestors once built. Our government is considering to take further actions, and an ultimatum will be sent to the Madnestian government.”

It wasn't quite the first time statements like this were given. And it certainly wasn't the first time the modokovian minority living in Madnestan had revolted, once again only to be shot, tortured, executed and shot again: half-secretly government funded agitators and freedom fighters were always quickly captured and either shot or sent to SEJEM-run prison camps. On the other hand, modokovian government “has no interest towards Madnestan's domestic politics”, as the official statement of the parlament is stated. That statement is based on the fact that Modokov is a poor country, and doesn't have much of an army nor political influence: the government can only keep sending ultimatums to Madnestan and back off when they get angry. However, Modokov's traditional devotion to social welfare and equality makes the state to care about their people living in foreign countries.

From: the President of Modokov, Comrad Tsheken Redavis
To: the minister of everything, Warchief Tamujid of Madnestan

Dear minister,

The recent actions concerning the brutal agression on our people have not gone unnoticed. Therefore, the Modokovian government is asking for an official report about this cruel act against modokovian citisens living in Madnestan. If this request is not taken care of in a week, we are forced to take further actions. We would also encourage You to stop killing of our innocent citisens living in the south-east parts of Madnestan, for they are not willing to do any harm to Your government nor people.

Your sincerely,

Tsheken Redavis

OOC: Really sorry for the sudden silence, Northford and Wolfensland! We have had some schedule/technical difficulties with this RP, but they have been overcome now, and we're ready to continue.

To Northfordian Government

We sincerely thank You for this offer, but are gladly still in position to refuse. We have what it takes to keep our population in control, and there is no need for risking the lives of your brave soldiers at this point. However, we will keep in mind the great friendliness and solidarity You have shown to us, and shall offer our help should You ever face problems similar to these we're currently dealing with.

Governmental Media: The News

"...and like we all know, Pythogrians aren't really the smartest people in the world.

*laughing*.

To more concerning news; Fourth week of the so called "15th Intifada" in Southern Madnestan has shown no signs of abating. Our military presence there has however grown stronger and stronger - first four armoured divisions arrived to Tidraya earlier today, and several airforce regiments have also been sent to assist in these operations that are currently taking place. Those bastards, those despicable traitors have no hope whatsoever!

*Wild applauds by the studio audience, and just before they're finished...*
Mobilisation (Code 19) is also now being executed.

By the way, our brave field reporters have captured some action from the streets of Tidraya and other cities of Southern District;

*Long line of soldiers marching along the street, wading in blood and piles of bodies. Dragon II-MBT firing it's 120mm cannon, block'o'flats losing it's 3rd floor and collapsing. Camera shaking and bouncing as the camera-man runs, then stops and focuses on a dozen-or-so group of Modokovian youngsters running other side of the street, waving Modokovian flag. Several soldiers of Special Forces behind and around the camera-man opening fire, slaughtering the group. Mass of young men, kneeled, hands tied behind their back sitting in lines. One line of SEJEM security troops in their black uniforms and masks marching, stopping behind the hindmost line, firing each traitor in the neck, then moving to the next line and repeating, then the third line...*

That's what'll happen to those who sell their country and their soul to foreigners!"

Hey mate... I'm new to this as well, although, I'll give you some advice:

Read the Stickies

Don't use annoying smilies

Unless it's obvious that it's open, ask before wading in

Don't give your fleet's warp engines (Madnestan, you who/what I'm refering to, right?

Oh, and, in case you didn't read first time round, Read the Stickies.

To Warchief Tamujid,

The Northfordian Government thanks you for your reply. While we accept that people may have greviances with who they are ruled by, Northford, like many countries recognises that violence is not the answer, and such attempts to use it as a weapon should be confronted and crushed.

We are sorry you did not accept, and would appreciate it if you kept out offer in mind.

Thank you for the offer of solidarity.

Se wish you the best in your problems.

Regards,

Northford.

Madnestan, South-eastern border, airspace

Boxes labeled with signs "Medical Equipment" and "Rice" were raining from the sky as two modokovian Yliyushin Il-76D planes escaped from the scene with
several fighters on their tail. Not long after the aircraft had dropped their payload, the fighters engaged the transport planes. Both of the Il-76D's
crashed down and exploded. Nothing was left from them.

The streets of Tidraya

The supplies were supposed to land on preadjusted drop zones, but it goes without saying that most of it fell on the roofs and the streets. However, as the modokovians seemed to had know about this supply drop, the majority of equipment was quickly taken care of. Nevertheless, the boxes which fell near the local military barracks couldn't be captured: there were assaults on the barracks in hopes of getting back the equipment, but needles to say they were all hopeless, thanks to heavy military presence of Madnestan army.

Heavy fighting occured. Elements of Madnestan's mechanized army corps slaughtered masses of people while trying to find out about the boxes.
A tv-reporter caught a scene which in modokovians smashed the boxes open with crowbars and took guns and ammo from them.

Mountain HQ of the "Modokovian Liberty Force", Madnestan-Modokov border

This underground network was originally built by a modokovian army engineer corps, but it has been thru many changes since. Because of the constant raids of madnestanian troops the network had to be dug deeper and bigger. It now consist of 20 kilometers long network of tunnels, weapon hideouts and command centers. Modokovian minority of Madnestan is led from here.

There were some people gathered around a box in a chamber deep underground. An officer in modokovian national military uniform was holding a brand new Kalashnikov-47 assault-rifle in his hands. It had been taken from a box labeled "Medical supplies". The soldiers around the officer were all looking excited.
"Finally, something what we can kick their ass with," yelled a young rebel while picking up an AK47 for himself. The backbone of MLF were young modokovians who had decided to take up arms against the common enemy, Madnestan.
The officer had something in mind.

"See? I told you, no modokovian will be left alone. The government will take care of this matter," the officer told the rebels around him proudly. Suddenly
his face seemed to get a little worried.
"Too bad our transport planes had some... technical problems. They were actually being chased all the way to the city, and as you can imagine, it must be pretty difficult to drop anything precisely while being chased." The officer had a short pause and put down the Kalashnikov.
"But what's most devastating, some of the boxes landed on government's zone. They couldn't be retrevied. It puts the modokovian government in a very, very difficult position," he finished and looked like he would have continued if one of the rebels, young looking soldier wearing too big uniform, hadn't interrupted him.
"Why don't we just kick their ass! It's not that hard, now that we have all the weapons and ammo we'll ever need. And the goverment can send 1,000,000 troops to aid our cause!"
The officer simply ignored this youngster.
"Like I said, if the Madnestan government finds out what's happening over here, the whole Modokov will become a battlefield. We cannot risk that. That's why I am here: to see that this, er... accident will be made some modokovian terrorist organisation's fault," finished the officer.
”Althought the government of Madnestan doesn't allow any humanitarian aid to be transported in the country, this whole operation was meant to look like an aid run. After all, it wouldn't probably be a reason to start a war. But now that the madnestians are aware of our ”Aid”, we cannot be too careful,” he added.

"That is by the way from government's official statement. Now, revenge your brothers and continue the fight against the fascist government of Madnestan!
You'll hear from me again."

Brave freedom fighters of MLF were left alone.

Back in the streets of Tidraya

Meanwhile, back in the city, the things had gotten pretty tough. While the Madnestan government was told that the terrorist had hijacked modokovian planes and then dropped some guns stolen from military barracks, modokovian flags were being raised over buildings all over. They were all burned of course, but this was something new: as if the "Traitors", like the brave members of MLF were called by Madnestan's government, were trying to take the land for
theirselves. Assaults on police stations and other governmental institutions were made, some succesful, while most naturally failed miserably.
