Rebels attack capital: New Government sworn in

Trabia, Shinrita: April 22- One week after the Shinritan Alliance won 86 out of 145 seats in the Shinritan Parliament, right wing forces attack the Shinritan Energy HQ in Trabia.

The rebels, a faction known as The Liberation Front, which has ties to the former government headed by R. Lee Anderson of the Shinritan Capitalist Union, attacked the Shinritan Energy building in Trabia with a bomb, killing 53 people and wounding 100 more, in the worst terrorist attack on Shinritan soil. 2 embassies which are closeby suffered some damage, however, no reports of wounded or dead.

This is a major setback for Prime Minister Scott Solari, who has been trying to form a coalition government with the Labour party, in order to gain a larger majority in the Parliament. In a statement read by spokesman Arthur Vandross, the Prime Minister railed against TLF, saying "These arent rebels, nor are they opposition parties. Anyone who uses violence against the Shinritan people due to a government must and will be stopped." There were reported arrests by police, as well as some violent demonstrations which were suppressed without casualties.

The reasoning behind the attacks, analysts and advisors say, is the passing of Bill # 1243-C, which states that Shinritan companies who outsource more than 35% of their labour force to other nations will be subject to heavy taxes, and higher taxes for citizens earning more than 150,000 Gold Liras a year. The measure was passed by the Shinritan Alliance, a center left group consisting of socialists, communists and liberal christians, controlled Parliament. The measure passed by a vote of 101-43.

The Allied States of the Royal Code have recognized and adressed the issue in the Senate. Is the Shinritan loyalist Govornment accepting military assistance at this time? We can muster a considerable number of airborne forces and have them in-country in less than 24 hours if need be.

The Government of the United Republic of Shinrita currently is not in need of military assistance, seeing as this is not a revolution yet. However, seeing as embassies could be attacked by the rebels against nations who have sided with the government, Prime Minister Scott Solari is currently recommending to nations to send additional troops to their embassy compounds to secure them.

We would like to thank The Allied States of the Royal Code for their offer for assistance.

Responding to the Aztec league:
We have captured 15 of the suspected rebels, and are currently holding them in our military prison in the outskirts of Ft. Astoria. They are being treated humanely, and the Red Cross is overseeing their treatment. However, according to the Shinritan constitution, if they are convicted of treason (the article in question; provoking a state of war against Shinrita or any territory) they are subject to be sentenced to the death penalty, or if another nation grants them asylum, permanent exile. If you wish to send any human rights groups to oversee the prisoner treatment, the Prime Minister has approved it.

-Foreign Minister Jon Engle

Trabia, Shinrita: April 25- Bill # 1243-C has passed Parliament and was signed into law today by Prime Minister Scott Solari. This is a major victory for the majority Shinritan Alliance, who advocated limiting outsourcing to provide more jobs to Shinritans, while taxing the wealthy heavier. Capitalist Union loyalists staged small protests in Trabia, which were mostly peaceful due to small numbers. In the city of St. Petersburg, about 400 miles from Trabia, small clashes were reported, with a small number of arrests and no reported injured or killed.

The head of the Capitalist Union, R. Lee Anderson, has sworn to demand a recount of votes in normally heavy capitalist areas, such as Trabia, where voter turn out showed 66% in favor of Shinritan Alliance, 20% for Labour, 11% for the Capitalist Union and 3% for the Christian Coalition. The recount is said by many to be a waste of time and money, and the Shinritan Supreme Court has declared the outcome legal and done with. The Socialist- led government was sworn in on April 22.
