The signature was unmistakeable. A Whyatican fleet. In the Golden Triangle. All forces were put on the alert, and every defense system was activated. All troops were put on alert.

Kraven had arrived.

Major General John Patterson, Commander-In-Chief of the Cravanian military sat in the Situation Room in Cravna, Cravan. He watched as the Kraven fleet approached Cravan's coast.

But he wasn't watching real-time satellite feed. He wasn't watching from some surveiliance equipment. He was watching the most advanced real time strategy game played to date. This was all a simulation, to test Cravan's ability to hold back an invasion by an entire hostile force.

He watched as the Kraven fleet approached, and waited for it to make its move.

OOC: As you can see, this is a computer sim to test Cravan's defenses. Depending on the outcome, my defenses will be adjusted accordingly.

Grand Admiral Abdul Aziz Khatani of the Whyatican Navy watched as his Warspite class Heavy Battleship cruised in ever closer to the Cravanian shore. He knew they would be caught off guard here as they were in Desanna, and that his nearly 1,000 ship fleet would not be stopped by near anything the Cravanians could throw at him. He looked upon his bridge, the men who pressed the buttons that had killed millions. The fleet slowly formed it's traditional four tiered defensive ring, and began to advance once more. Initial intelligence indicated that the Cravanian Navy had a small garrison here, mostly cruisers and battleships.

They closed to within fifty nautical miles, and the Grand Admiral gave the order, "Fire! Take out the battleships first, do not launch aircraft unless the Cravanians do, we're in range of their defensive lasers." His crew began to push the buttons as they always did, but this time it showed a little more urgency. After all, this was a full scale invasion of the Cravanian homeland..

The Command Battleship WSS Prince of Wales opened up with a grand salvo of it's main guns at the Cravanian battleships, and it's sister ship, the Warspite class battleship WSS Wake Island followed suit, and the entire Questarian-built contingent fired their considerable missile capability at the docked Cravanian fleet, knowing full well the majority of the missiles would be shot down by the defensive lasers. The submarines and light frigates and cruisers pulled ahead of the fleet to create a picked line, and the battleships and other ships created their traditional bombardment pattern, and they began to fire high-incendiary shells at the Cravanian coastline, preparing for landings..

Wow... Whoever's in the other room is doing a fairly good job so far., Patterson thought as he watched the virtual display.

"Is Divine Shield online?"
"Yes, sir."
"Have it take down the missiles."
"Yes, sir."

Inside the game world...

The Cravanian defense network sprang to life, spitting teal beams into the air. Most of the missiles were taken down in the first salvo, but some managed to break through. Meanwhile, the shells of the Kraven fleet came falling all around the Cravanian fleet docked.

The Cravanian fleet had been alerted to the Whyatican fleet, though, since it was more or less impossible to hide a fleet that size. A few cruisers were lost, but the majority of the fleet survived the initial barrage.

"Launch the aeirial defense networks. I want all planes in Cravna AFB scrambled."
"Yes, sir."

Fighters took off from Cravna AFB, flying in formation. Hundreds and hundreds of planes poured out of the largest military base in Cravan. This war would be the bloddiest Cravan would ever fight. And it would be even bloodier for the invading forces...

The initial barrage foiled, the two-hundred sixty five submarines of the Whyatican Navy dove as low as possible, in the thermocline, an area where the cold water met the warm water. The thermocline reflected active sonar, and was the apex of Whyatican submarine doctrine. As soon as they were certain there was no active defense against them, they opened up all at once with their forward torpedo tubes. Three hundred heavy super-cavitating torpedos launched from the tubes, and the submarines attempted to run themselves at full stealth again to avoid detection. The supercavitation would run very quiet until the last quarter of the flight and it would then accelerate to maximum speed just before impact.

The shell game continued, as the entire fleet was now within range. Eight hundred surface ships opened fire with a smorgasbourg of shell fire, railguns, coilguns, ETC cannons, everything seen on the Whyatican fleet was fired across the sea at the Cravanian docked surface ships. They began to advance ahead, and continued to fire as they did. The second missile wave was launched, 1,600 missiles launched in 200 missile bursts, coming from different angles and different heights in order to confuse the Divine Shield systems and the automated fleet defenses.

The Cravanian air armada came forth at the Whyaticans, who were keeping their aircraft firmly planted on the carrier decks for fear of the formidable anti-air defenses. They were instead met by a burst of all-aspect Surface-to-Air missiles, aiming to hit their bottom or top to counter the planes maneuverability. Two missiles per warplane launched was deemed adequate by the Whyaticans.

The battle had just begun..

Planes were swatted from the sky from the Whyatican defenses, but they managed to release payloads on the fleet below.

The massive bombardment from the Whyatican fleet, including the torpedoes, shells, and missiles, beared down on the Cravanian fleet. It struck with devistating effect, with ships disabled and taken from the battle in miniutes.

The Whyatican attempt to confuse Divine shield did not work out so well, though, since each system also had an independent radar. They still managed to swat missiles from the sky with great efficiency. Not quite as efficient as before, but still with great effect.

Coastal rail-guns sprang to life, lobbing shells at the Whyatican fleet. They constantly fired, sending hundreds and hundreds of shells at them. Cruise missiles and smaller tactical missiles were launched, and thousands of them flew just under the radar. They hugged the waves, staying low then hopping up to engage the Whyatican fleet.

Now we shall see exactly what we're capable of..., Patterson thought as he watched the battle unfold.

It was a joint simulation between Cravan and Blaglug.

The officers in the Blaglug room had issued orders for planes to attack the Whyatican fleet. General Shane White was now watching as the bombers and anti-ship fighters began attacking the Whyatican fleet.

With the Cravanian fleet nearly dead in the water, the attention could now be focussed on the heavy static defenses. 30" anti-fortification cannons fired at the railguns and coastal Divine Shield emplacements. Shells were far harder to shoot down with a chemical laser, and it was highly likely the majority of the Divine Shield emplacements would be downed..

The navy continued to push forward, taking minor losses in the front picket lines from railgun fire, the frigates and cruisers taking the brunt, losing eleven ships to fire, Crewmembers hopped from ship to ship to avoid dying in the explosions, and others jumped in lifeboats through the water, trying to get to capital ships where they would be safer..

The aerial assault was dealt with by another wave of Surface-to-Air missiles, and the bombs dropped on the navy were ridiculously easy to remove with interceptor missiles and gun-based CIWS systems. Four frigates and eight cruisers took direct impacts on their bridges and were crippled, and a "River" class FFGN took a hit on it's RADAR system and had to be slaved to a capital ship for it's tracking information.

The Cravanian Navy would need to be able to absorb yet another burst of 500mm torpedo, 1000mm torpedo, missile, and shell fire in order to continue to fight the Whyaticans. No punch was pulled in this first strike of the war..

The Generals of Cravan watched as the Various ships of the Whyatica Slave State approached, while on the other side of this Simulated world, the Overlord State, the head of the Supreme State, began amassing forces, Hundereds of Centurians were lined up in this simulation, the Computer Generated forces marching in perfect time, as each one boarded Assault Vtols, the air field was lined with thousands of them, and Hundereds of Super VTOL Carriers..

Officers were stood watching, holding note books, and ordering Kreigsmarines carrying equipment, while in the distance on the other side of the Air Field, Imperator Super Heavy Battle tanks revved their engines hard, thick black smoke rising into the are as the Twin V8's rumbled with their exquisite sound...

"Damn it." General White said as he watched the air stirkes barely do any damage to the Kraven forces. "Tell the anti-ship fighters to attack them now."
"Yes, Sir."

With the orders given, the fighters, backed by CAMI (Counter Air Missile Intercepting) Aircraft to try and destroy as many SAMs has possible.

Let's see if we can sting this powerful military for the little guys.

He ordered the bombers to fly lower and strike closer, hoping it would cause more damage. He also ordered the heavy bombers to come and carpet the area. They unloaded thousands of bombs. However, they were big and not as manuverable as the strategic bombers. Most went down before the CAMI Aircraft (CAMIA) could come to their aide.

It was at this time the first cruise missles reached the fleet from the Blaglugian Navy. He knew it wasn't good, but in times like these, everything mattered. Cargo planes began landing at Cravna AFB in Cravan, off loading defense, tanks, infantry, and other army equipment in preperation of the iminent invasion.

Twenty Divine Shield emplacements, the entire northwestern coast, were taken out by the oncoming shells. Those down the coast and further inland were safe right now, but the web had been broken in that area. The inland ones had the range to take some of the oncoming missiles out, but they weren't nearly as effective.

The fleet continued to get pummeled, sustaining heavy losses from Whyatica. The ships began to return fire, sending out thousands of rounds. They constantly reloaded, hoping to turn the tide of this lost naval battle.

This war was going to be the bloodiest Cravan would ever see. Even if it wasn't real...

The picket line continued to eat fire, several ships blossoming up in fireballs after shells impacted their magazines and lit them ablaze. The response would most likely completely overwhelm the remaining Cravanian navy, over thirty 25" shells were launched per remaining Cravanian battleship, there was little doubt in the Grand Admiral's mind about the battleships being destroyed..

The Blaglugian Navy came as somewhat of a surprise, but after the reconnaissance came back they were removed as any possibility of a threat. The submerged forces below the thermocline moved stealthily underneath the Blaglugian fleet, and when they were directly underneath, one keel-breaker torpedo launched from each submarine's vertical launch tubes. They shot up at the vulnerable undersides of the Blaglug fleet, hoping to cripple them before they could do any damage to the Whyatican Navy..

Blaglug aircraft strafed the initial naval lines, damaging ships left and right, but 30mm CIWS systems locked onto the incoming bombs and aircraft and fired at them mercilessly. Short-ranged surface-to-air missiles flew out of VLS tubes at the Blaglugians, but they weren't used as often because the CIWS could adequately deal with the close-range threat..

The last of the battleships were taken out of the fight, and the entire Cravanian navy in the northern base had been routed. The ships in the southern areas, substantially larger, created a defensive perimeter to keep ships from breaking through. That fight would not be so easy for Kraven.

Millions of men and women were geared up for combat in the homeland, and began reinforcing Cravna. Civilians were ordered to evacuate, since all knew a blitzkreig would be unleashed on Cravan...

Already, lessons learned were being put to use. The fleets in the north and south were being reinforced, and more AA countermeasures were being prepped around the Divine Shield emplacements. It would be ensured that the homeland would be safe from a real invasion.

The Blaglugian Navy was quickly dispatched by Whyatican subs. The lone carrier in the group launched as many planes as it could before a second torpedo destroyed it.

"Must get some subs," the General said aloud.

"Pull our fighters over the fleet and send them to Cravan's defense. They're ripping our fighters apart just by sheer numbers."

It was true, though the Anti-Ship Fighters were being supported by CAMIA, they were still being shot down. The bombing runs from the strategic bomber continued, as well as tactical attacks by F/A-565 Vexes which dropped their percision bombs on AAA, SAM, and Surface bombardment artillery. THey moved fast enough that they did not sustain many casulties by the enemy fleet yet.

All aircraft were put on alert in Cravan and the CAMIA began helping Cravan's laser defenses take down incoming missles. ALRASMs began fireing out of A-123 Lightnings from the Cravan mainland out at the ships at see. Aimed low, they flied below RADAR in the attempt to evade AMA and AMM from their ships.

"Grand Admiral, the Cravanian Navy has been destroyed, and we swatted the Blaglugian Navy. The passage is clear for our landing now. Automated air defenses are handling the remaining Blaglug warplanes."

"Yes, yes. Close us to 5km of shore and begin bombardments of all shore positions. Once the landing spot is clear, send out the initial landing force. Once we've established a beachhead, we may need to assist the Supreme Overlord's navy in breaking in to a second front. Keep all sailors on full alert."

Blaglugian warplanes continued to strafe the Whyatican positions, dropping bombs and firing missiles relentlessly, despite the huge amount of counterfire being shot through the air. Frigates and cruisers and destroyers alike took damage, but the capital ships were far too well armoured to take much damage, the hulls and armour were pockmarked but not much else. StA missiles and 30mm CIWS systems erupted in another blaze at the Blaglugians..

The Whyatican fleet, led by the Prince of Wales and the Wake Island, pushed closer to the shore, with the amphibious assault carriers pulling to the head of the navy as the landings were prepared. The shore bombardment commenced, with the ringing noise of 30" anti-fortification guns at the coast, and 25" shells being fired into nearby Cravna. They knew the Divine Shield was still up, and until that could be adequately neutralised, there would be no attempt to gain air superiority. As the dropships dropped into the ocean, filled with the shock troops, the Capitol Police, the people of Cravna armed for what very well could be their last days..

All planes except the Strategic Bombers and F/A-565 special bombing squadrons had pulled back over the mainland.

The latest volly of AA Fire had wiped out the last of the heavy bombers.

Damnit the General thought.

The strategic bombings were effective, but their numbers were dwindling.

"Keep them there and keep launching the cruise missles from the shore."
"Yes, Sir."

OOC: I've still got a few aces up my sleeve, my friend...

The shells headed to Cravna (What's the range on those things? I know they could reach Cravna, but the city itself is several hundred miles from the coast. The map is misleading, since I forgot to put a scale on it.) struck inaccurately, but still to decent effect. Some buildings were hit, while others remained unscathed.

Civilians were already being evacuated, and the Emperor had already been flown to Cayanace for safe keeping, along with the rest of the military commanders. All forces had been recalled to the homeland, and everyplace that wasn't a major base was abandoned when the forces began to go at full speed towards home.

The Army had already prepared roadblocks and obstacles to keep the enemy from reaching the capital. They were armed with the M2C1, the recent addition to the Cravanian arsenal. Currently, the rifle was only deployed to several divisions worldwide. But within the next two weeks in the real world the rifle will have been mass produced to a surplus, meaning that every Cravanian soldier would be armed with it by the time the simulation took place. The thing about it which would prove devistating to the Kraven Corp was it could take out a Capitol Policeman in one or two shots... (special thanks to McKagan right there)

Planes were scrambled from all across the nation, engaging in CAS patrols over the country. They waited anxiously for Kraven's forces to land...

The combined might of the Blaglug and Cravan Air Forces easily established Air supreamcy over the mainland. ASMs were continually fired from long range attack aircraft. Bombers were positioned all over the mainland to bomb the landing forces. Kraven was not going to get Cravan without one hell of a fight.

Surface-to-air missiles continued to rake the sky against the remaining air resistance, and the assault ships moved to within 2km of shore as the dropships dropped. Dropships would only be used in this operation because of the Cravanian defensive lasers, the range of which was unknown. The guns of the fleet rang out as satellite intelligence indicated where artillery emplacements could be, and they would soon find themselves facing a 30" shell head on. They cruised ahead to shore at full power, Capitol Police manning .50 MGs and waiting for any Cravanian resistance to show itself. Fleet anti-air batteries remained on full alert, as the Cravanians had massive amounts of CAS patrols around the nation. Wherever a CAS patrol plane was detected, two anti-air missiles were launched at it from the navy, they would prove that getting too close to the Whyatican landing spot would be punished severely..

The Capitol Police dropships hit the beach and the CP ran out, securing the area. As it was soon found that there is no Cravanian resistance to their landing attempt, defensive equipment and supplies soon hit the beach. Massive bulldozers hit the beach, paving a helipad quickly enough. Supplies were dropped from numerous fleet helicopter carriers, and these were for building a temporary mulberry dock, which was set about immediately. Capitol Police continued to disgorge from dropship carriers, along with the occasional ZSU battery and Diablo light tank. As sooon as the mulberry was pronounced ready for ships, an assault carrier pulled up and docked with it. The entire contingent of CP unloaded, along with 50 Leman Russ main battle tanks and 45 Diablo light battle tanks. Completely emptied of supplies and equipment, the carrier detached and pulled away into the main fleet. A second carrier docked and unloaded as well. The dreaded Imperator super heavy battle tanks, ten for this first phase of the invasion, unloaded.

The advance waited..

The artillery farther off shore opened up before the shells from the Whyatican fleet came raining down upon them. Luckily, 30in shells are very, very inaccurate. Most of the artillery survived the assault, and managed to get off another barrage. Meanwhile, MLRS systems further inland ripped open on the beach, raining death upon them with hundreds and hundreds of rockets.

Cravanians would not let this crime of landing in the homeland pass easily... Every Kraven soldier in the Golden Triangle would pay... Even if it was only a simulation.

About forty-five ZSUs had successfully landed on Cravan's shore, and they recieved targetting information from Whyatican satellites and naval tracking vessels of the masssive artillery swarm ahead of them. Naval vessels close enough to the action fired their own missile interceptors, reaching the MRLS rockets quickly enough to remove them in droves before the ZSUs locked on. They sprayed quad gattling rounds across the skies, removing hordes of missiles. One static 30mm CIWS battery had been set up, and that joined the fire. Artillery fire impacted the beach, kicking up sand and wrecking a ZSU when it impacted one. The return fire would be brutal, as 25 Basilisk Earthshaker batteries had finished unloading. They fired their 205mm rounds across the Cravanian plains, at the location where the firing came from. They were supported by 30" and 25" guns from the navy..

The Cravanian artillery managed to get off one more barrage before succumbing to the Whyatican barrage. Shells fell all around, devistating the artillery. Few remained.

Meanwhile, troops reinforced the main highways, C4 main battle tanks taking up positions to prevent an advance. Anti-tank weaponry was present everywhere, and not one CP was allowed to pass. Not one...

Nearly one million troops, ranging from infantry to cavalry, were lined up along that highway alone.

Reloaded with Counter Surafce Operation Munitions (For this thread's sake: CSOMs) such as Fuel Air Bombs, Cluster, and MOAB; the bombers and fighters took off and went to their targets. Flying at Hypersonic speeds, the Fighters dropped their ordanance on to Kraven troop movements. Assault Helicopters were stationed on the major highways and began opening their assaults on to the enemy troops. The FABs were used near the landing zone by the bombers as CAMI Aircraft tried to shoot down as many SAMs as they could. Still, the bombers were getting hit hard.

The speeds of the fighter protected them from virtually anything, but in the attempt to dodge a stray missle, one pulled up and crashed into a helicopter raining debris and fire on the troops below....
