The vessel moved near silently through the depths of space; leaving a chill wind in its wake, a visible trail, frost wreathed memory of what had passed; what dwelt far off in the malign deeps. Chains hung, dully moving in the half-light of the void; the ice-encrusted hull shimmering with reflected glories. Yet they were far from the light of suns; far from the warmth of planets. That would have to change.

Onboard, a Lich hovered; gazing out across existence with a mocking grin upon skeletal lips; wreathed in finest robes, chains flitting about his form, a staff clenched in one bony hand; he took in the glorious void.

"Report."

"Great Lord" An acolyte bowed before him; a willing human disciple of the Scourge. "We have located a world ripe for the taking; the Lich King's will shall be acted upon."

"Excellent; prepare us for an assault. We shall take this world into the fold; and the glory of the Lich King shall touch every living being."

The Battlecruiser, Light's End rumbled on; scything into the twisting Nether; seeking it's destination, as the Lich known only as the Death Eater chuckled maliciously. He would see entire systems lain low with plague; that all might know the glory of the Lich King and his fel power.

a routine patrol of 8 CC-9600 frigates, 4 Dragon-class Heavy Cruisers on the edge of 1010102 space, detected an unknown ship moving in system.

on the bridge of the Dragon Commander Fyback was getting reports of a large ship moving in system.

"Commander, there is a battlecruiser-sized ship moving in system."

"Watch it. if it makes an move toward the planet, fire shots across its bow."

"Yes, sir."

"Esteemed Lich Lord; we have detected several vessels by means of augury. They seem to be waitiing for us to advance. What is your will?"

"I shall inform our Lord; should these pitiful mortals seek to stop us; we shall simply negate them by way of superior force! They shall tremble before the might of the Scourge. Continue onwards."

Energy danced around the vessel as its ponderous shields rose; it's weapons seething with energy; tainted with the ungodly cold of the Nether. The ice about the vessel seemed to shift and move, drifting off it as they advanced; still slowly moving onwards; ignoring the ships altogether.

Were any amongst their number gifted in the psychic arts they might hear the terrible whisper of the singular psyche that dominated the vessel; the arcane mind of the Lich himself. The rest was barely audible mortal chatter, and a vast void; a psychic null.

Lifesign detection too would register this; that aside from the Human acolytes and cultists of the Cult of the Damned; the vast majority of those aboard were already dead....

"Commander, sensors detecting a massive power increase."

A small CruRon was stooging around in the area, not really spying per se, but collecting information nonetheless. When the IG Ship was detected, along with the massive power buildup, things would get interesting FAST.

"Well. Let's rock. Set a course for the system in question."

The vessel continued its advance, entirely ignoring the Miehmish vessel; its own priorities turned towards the vessels that sought to deny them their unholy goal. They sought to deny this world it's Scourging. They sought to deny Ner'zhul.

This would never do.

"Open fire."

The weapons roared to life; missles hurtling with premeditated fury towards the four larger vessels; cannons letting loose immense blasts of icy energy discharge; soul-shattering energy attacks hurled towards their new foes. These foes who would know the wrath of the Scourge.

Fighters and writhing Frost-wyrms seethed forth in droves to attack their foes; the fighters, bombers and even the wyrms clutching vast, spiked objects; chained to them, or held in their grasping talons; and advanced, hurling them only when they were within range.

The spiked pods contained warriors of the Scourge; and readied to dig into the enemy hull and flood them with Undead troops; Ghouls, and even necromancers to bolster their unholy number.

They would be Scourged....

The surviving ships open fire with everything they had.

the 10 Hapes Nova Battlecruisers, 12 CC-9600 frigates, and 2Imperial I-class Star Destroyers arrived in the area and started to take up a defensive formation in front of the enemy ship.

Admiral Harwood hurried onto the bridge of his flagship, Gauntlet, as midshipmen hammered at their keyboards, staring at the scrolling data on thei consoles.

"Admiral. You remeber the incident with 1010102? Well, we had an Alpha poking around on their systems edge as you ordered, and it's picked up a foreign signature, being acosted by locals. Orders?"

"Take a look. A close look.And prep four more Alpha's, Tycho, Keppler, and Banneret for a jump at a moments notice. I have afeeling this will turn ugly. Fast."


The lone Alpha turned towards the engagement, and detected yet another ship, nosingaround in much the same manner. The sensor array locked onto the aggressive ship, feeding accurate data back to the ships guns.

The Miehmish ships advanced slowly, bringing their Wedges up to full strength, as they waited for their energy batteries to charge to full. It wouldn't be long before 2 ships recieved enough weapons to kill them several times over, and then the rest of the force would get the beating they so ruichly deserved.

The shields hissed and seethed as fire cut across them, arcing across the fabric of their enforced form; before certain portions cascaded into nothingness; hull met weapons fire, energy smattering off it, some impacting; deep gouges in the worn, aged metal.

"To arms brothers! Brign death to all who would defy the Lich King! Target their largest; we shall triumph! In death, Glory!"

The call for help had not gone unheard; the Lich King had brought his own flagship; the mighty Icecrown, along with 5 other battlecruisers; and 4 light cruisers; all training their weapons towards the enemy fleet; huge arcs of scathign fire hurtling towards the largest of the enemy vessels with horrifying gouts of raw power.

Upon the bridge of Icecrown, Ner'zhul himself sat, reclined upon his Frozen Throne. His hand had closed around Frostmourne's handle, waiting; watching. The Death Eater had been sending constant streams of psychic report; and now Ner'zhuls vast psychic power bent every servant of his will to turn against the enemy.

Wretched fools, you stand against the might of Death itself; madness and doom in the void to crush you and all your kind. We shall Scourge you from existence

the entire fleet made a short jump back to the planet's safety and the safety of 10 other star destroyers,12 carriers, 50 cruisers and 60 frigates plus the 1000 orbital gun batteries.

You; Miehmish; aid us in shattering their defences and securing this world, and my blessings shall be upon you; just as defiance has its punishments, so must obedience have it's rewards

From their position, the Scourge vessels began their systematic assault; focussing the waves of their fire against their foes; mighty volleys of ancient, rending energy; hurtled forth against their foes and their defences; more missles rained from the countless weapons of the Scourge. With each mind they usurped, each body they raised, they gained a far more comprehensive understanding of technology. Of the galaxy.

Soon; by assimilating the greatest of races into their ranks, their knowledge and power woukld be fundamentally complete. Forged together from countless opposing sources; they would form a glorious whole.

An entire society dedicated to the eradication of life; and the veneration of Ner'zhul and his Glory.

every weapon on ships or the platforms opened fire in a massive salvo that streaked toward the enemy fleet.focusing on the largest ships.

the carriers launched all there fighters as a screen to take out incoming craft.

then 2 executor class super star destroyers entered the system escorting the flagship of the fleet the liberty. ( a liberty class super star destroyer).

the enemy fire hit killing 10 frigates, 7 cruisers 1 carrier, and damaged a star destroyer.

the liberty opened fire with its superlaser at what seemed to be the flagship.

then the executors open fire with all guns on the enemy ships.

a pair of star destroyers moved away from the main fleet and started attacking the JE ships. they hit them hard as they could.

It was a subtle thing, light-hours away, at the very edge of the system; a localised, momentary shifting of what could only be called 'chance', heralding the uncerimonious arrival of a vessel a half-instant later.

A quarter-kilometer of angular, gleaming silver, the KCV Sensor Contact arrived amidst a five lightsecond halo of drones, a thousand-strong sensor array scattered amoungst her shells of sensor-distorting EW, instantly probing the system with active scans.

Her transponder, however, came through clear - albeit routed through several drones - KCV Sensor Contact, Kanickistan, Civilian, Survey, Samantha Lapis Inc.


"Jump complete; cycling displacers."

"Engineering reports green across the board."

"Drone-net dispersal looks good, telemetry good; EW active, initial sensor returns coming in... now. Oh, that's not good..."

Vulpine ears perked, and the converted escort carrier's captain sat up from where she had slouched, zip-net poker game forgotten as a routine job suddenly became 'Interesting' - for good or ill would soon be seen.

"Report!" the captain barked, squelching a sudden stab of panic even as her nerual lace queried the ship's sensors directly.

"Many military contacts, atleast two, possibly three factions engaged in hostilities. Couple thousand MSK away; no immediate threat. Force levels are signifigant, however."

The captain sighed, calm returning; with any luck they could just do their scans, drop some observation drones, and leave as planed. Still, the they came in with EW active for a reason.

"Take us to Combat Alert Beta; no powered weapons, no active fire control... And have the galley send up some popcorn."

Samantha frowned. As far as she knew, her nation had no relations, much less defence commitments, with.... whoever these people were. Still, she couldn't technically deny their request; there were, afterall, laws against pretending to speak for the government.

That done, the promised relaying of their request stood befor her; Foreign Government(?) in starsystem XYZ requesting military aid - would that be the subject header, or the message body?

2 SSDs escorted by 3 SDs and 2 carriers entered the system and headed towards the JE fleet, to destroy them as not leave an enemy on their flank.

The Miehmish had studied the exchanges for some time. Now they opened fire into the 1010102 formation. 228 missiles blasted out of their broadside tubes, streaing towards a single SSD. The energy batteries and Energy Torpedoes of the Cruisers targeted the other Super that had recently arrived. Whatever happened, it would not be an easy fight.

the missles hit the liberty and the devastator. the liberty's shields failed from the nukes EMP. the damage put the hull at 50%.the devastator however was hit before its shields went to full and took medium damage. its hull was at 75% strength.

"fire back at the largest MM ship with the liberties superlaser."

the liberty turned towards the MM fleet and fired at the largeest ship.

OOC: What range is "close enough"? I'll edit this into an IC reply when I know the range.

The range was stupidly short now, not olny was the opposing fleet well within their missile and energy envelopes, it was actually suicidally close. 12 ships unloading their full broadsides right into the teeth of the enemy formation, and the missiles covering the TINY intervening distance in just a second. The detonations would be great enough to simply batter the enemy into submission.

They were not without their losses though, Turbolasers bolts blasted through the sidewalls and shattered armor and hull plating, crewmen were killed, and hardened missile batteries were destroyed. The broadsides were reduced, but they weren't badly battered enough to weaken them greatly. And if necessary they would simply roll over and use their other broadsides.

Ooc: 200 Km.

when they finnaly got back to the fleet, one was at 60% hull strength another was at 45% hull strength and the third was at 54% hull strength.

"Fall back! now fire one last salvo from the ion cannons and go!"

the ships fired a massive salvo from their ion cannons right into the enemy ships. they then fell back to the safety of the gun batteries and when they were falling back they kept firing from all guns.

when they finnaly got back to the fleet, one was at 60% hull strength another was at 45% hull strength and the third was at 54% hull strength.

"Screw this. We can't simply outgun them, or outmaneuver them... Jump outsystem and set up a killshot."

"Aye sir. One planet buster. ETA: 3 hours after translation."

Their actions were seemingly pointless, but when they came back in system at high speed in a few hours, they would fire a single broadside at the planet. If ANY of those missiles hit they would effectively put the planet into a nuclear winter.

occ wait you can't run i hit you with at least 7,500 ion cannons seeing that each has 2,500. some should have hit and given the high concentration due to the fact that you have 12 ships. so thats 625 ion blast PER ship. i think some of those should have hit then all the turbo lasers that were fired defensively when they fell back. you should have taken causalities.lots of them.

The Royal Navy squadron was in bad shape, the Tycho looking in a bad state, but several more ships, three Alphas, a Gamma, and the Caliban all entered the system, ready for revenge.

As the damaged ships left the system, the fleet charged rapidly, firing another salvo and then hammering them with the guns, as another two Alpha's went town, one torn neatly in two, while a third was crippled. By now, the Banneret's hull was severly strained.

Suddenly, the lights on the system's jumpgate switch from the peaceful blue of inactive status to the firey strobing red of active status.

The massive vortex generators embedded in the kilometers-long gate's structure power up, and a series of lights flash down the length... until a swirling blue tunnel opens into hyperspace.

As soon as the small fleet clears the gate, the onboard Euclids of the Hyperions and Nova launch as well, and the flotilla immediately advances, probing the area with it's sensors. Their PSA and Geschmedig Panzer are at full power, with their distortion jammers making their location hard to pinpoint (though with the capital ship's drives at full burn, it's still somewhat easier than it would be otherwise).

A single frigate screamed into the area. The location had been scouted once before for a disturbance, and the Inferno was interested in local events.

The small craft left a massive hyper-wake as it returned to realspace, illuminating every scanner for several lightyears. No stealth for No Endorse, plus it was better for this craft to be seen.

The frigate floated motionless in the void, sheets of energy flowing off it from the jump. There were no transmissions of any kind, just a single vessel with firepower enough to hurt those several times its size, and a sensor reading to prove it.

The vessel would stand and watch, merely there to observe the local custom of war.

The Liberty opened fire with tis superlaser at the largest enemy ship.the rest of the ships fired ion cannons at the enemy ships hoping to slow or stop them.

Ships died in flames, while others held strong against the enemy onslaught; a cruiser torn asunder by the mighty Superlaser. Yet Icecrown help firm; strong, focussing the withering arrays of fire against the enemy fleet; each ship launching it's boarding pods; readying the mighty armies of the Scourge.

Unliving soldiers, living Necromancers; Nerubians forced into service; vile mockeries of life in every form; twisted imitations and destroyers of the living. And soon these foolish heretics would join their shambling ranks.
