Corporate Communism
The Pananab economy is booming and the state of the workers hasn't been better. Pananab has loose control over its businesses, so Monopolies are free to form and fall. Asthese giants grow bigger and bigger, they have begun to build towns for their employees. Pananab economists are becoming concerned and are pressuring the government to do something, but teh government stands aside and allows teh Free market to flow its natural course.
The Government regulations on businesses are fairly loose: No producing anything illegal, make sure your employees are happy, no dirty tactics, and make sure your prices are enough for teh common man to buy them, unless it's something fancy. The expansion of these monopolies has caused the Secretary of the Treasury to coin the term 'Corporate Communism', in which the corporations rule over the products the people buy, dictating what is available and what isn't. In many cases, people work and are simply given the things they need and the things they desire. The government's stance? Just don't screw them over.
Economists in Pananab are terrified on what the corporations might become and are encouraging foreign companies to move in and compete with the Pananab monopolies. Despite their domestic power, the Pananab monopolies have little foreign influence on them, nor do they expand very far out of the country.
((Bump. Anyone want to compete with Pananab corporations?))

No...but the Horde would be interested in fielding guerilla's to stop the corporations.
((Wouldn't catch on. Military is too tough and experienced and would stop them. Besides, the corporations would brainwash the people otherwise, which would only make it worse.))

Here goes. Pananb's major listed exports are Arms, IT, and Uranium. Our largest company, Dynamic Motors, PPC-- Public Private Consortium can easily move into your markets. We have multifuel hybrid electric turbine vehicles, while these are much more costly to produce, they require refrigerated engines and are more expensive, they get 100 miles to the gallon of either gasoline, biodiesel, alcohol, natural gas or similar systems-- high heat content fuel. We also have soya based jet fuel, as well which we can produce at slightly less expensive prices than $75 per barrel oil. Dynamic Motors would also build fuel efficient hybrid electric trains, and hybrid electric boats. Dynamic Motors initial strategy would be to supply fleet vehicles, replace taxi cabs, police vehicles, and other vehicle fleets that are centrally ordered by business so they could make large sales.
Our second company that would enter the market is Cruon Commercial House, RFS-- Registered Family Syndicate. They produce an incredible variety of alternative fuels, and can rebuild an economy on green lines. Some of the technologies are biorefineries-- biomass fuels-- ethanol, biodiesel, methanol, bioplastics, clean chemicals, solar concentrators, solar glass windows, wind farms, wave energy generators, turbines, hydroelectric turbines, geothermal power stations, OTEC-- Ocean Thermal Energy, landfill gasification, and bioshelter sewage treatment plants--producing methanol and fertilizer in quantity and cleaning sewage. I am guessing that you are MT so we would be in the experimental stage for sonofusion plants and solar power satellites. Cruon Commercial House would initially offer to clean up landfills and sewage turning them into fuels, recycled plastics, and fertilizer.
((I'm presuming that was an OOC post. A corporation like that wouldn't catch on like that, since Pananab is very oil-rich and alternative fuels would threaten that, so the Monopolies would band together to push you out, and they would probably succeed unless you put a lot of time and energy into it. Liberals in the government would love it, but the Conservative majority would end up favoring the Monopolies. You up to the challenge?))

The oil rich companies would probably push a portion of the companies out. Phase
1) We are going to pay off some of the liberal lobbying groups to push through environmental legislation on the following areas-- ethanol as a fuel additive for gasoline-- emission reductions. The future is clean energy, once again a certain amount of energy has to be renewable for environmental benefits.
2) Energy diversification legislation. You can't just have one source of energy. You have got to have fifty.
3) Introduce our standard hey you look green PR stuff for companies, look we have something which doesn't pollute. Small market share initially. The Ben and Jerry Grease Car number. We can convert your car to run on used vegetable oil. Very cheap. Hippies love it. Also do the standard advertisement our cars run 100 MPG, no other car company can do this. Rich consumers will want the latest automobile toy.
4) Another environmental legislation number. Landfill and sewage reclamation. A certain amount of landfills need to be cleaned up. Our bioshelter sewage treatment will clean up your cities produce fuel and fertilizer. Get into improving your waste problems. We can clean up your worst landfills and sewage.
5) Approach the farm lobby. Look we need help. Your support will give you a nice new market. Biorefineries need corn, sugar cane and other crops. Make some money and support us.
6) Bioremediation look at the nice big oil spill. Oil creates problems, we can clean it up. Advertisement plus offer cleanup.
7) Kentucky fried cheapness. A starter. We can recycle old grease and vegetable oil from fryers processing it into biodiesel-- which can be sold at a phenomenal price of $1.50 a gallon-- in 60 gallon drums $90 each. We would essentially be paying restaurant chains like Dennys or Mickey D's for their old vegetable oil 75 cents a gallon, something which they would have had to pay someone to haul off. As part of this offer we would convert some diesel vehicles to biodiesel vehicles. We would also ask them for letters of support to the local politicians.
We are going to sell cheap conversion kits for $1000 each to convert a diesel vehicle to biodiesel and advertise them in Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Road and Track and Similar places. Run a PR campaign to appear in major newspapers, and on television news. A slightly more expensive version will be made for big rigs, boats, etc. for $2500 each.

1) The attempts to use the liberal lobbyists to convice congress have been less-tahn successful. After the civil war, more right-winged politicians were placed after teh arrests were made so that the Executive branch could have some control over Congress.
2) Ethanols and alternatives for gasoline are still having trouble getting into Pananab markets, as oil is so plentiful, no alternatives are needed. Most of teh country is still in rural farming communities as it is, so vehicles aren't used too much in Pananab. Pananab has also begun research in Nuclear, Wind, Solar, and hydroelectric powers, as the government does not believe in oil power.
3) The Pananb monopolies would crush the sales of this car, making their own easy for the average person to buy. As alternative fuels are not the answer in the Pananab oil market, alternative fuel cars are likely to fail much like the technology.
4) The Government controls all landfill and sewage systems, but are open to private companies to do this for them.
5) Big farms are not plentiful in Pananab, mostly farming communities, which are usually controlled by Pananab Agriculture, Inc. or by the communities themselves.
6) If an oil spill happens, the oil company is required to claim responsibility and clean it themselves, unless tehy wish to outsource. Failure to completely clean the mess results in government fines.
7) Gas is $.65/Gal in Pananab as West African Refineries and Pananab Standard Oil, Co. have a deal to keep gas cheap in Pananab to prevent competition. Pananab sells its oil to foreign markets at $50/barrel.
Conversion kits would not sell in Pananab, as alternative fuels will take a while to take hold in Pananab, if at all. Foreign oil companies are the only way the Pananab oil monopolies will fall, alternative fuels will not catch on for (What is projected) another 50-75 years.
To: Robert Johnson, OCP Contract Department
From: Pananab Business Relations Dept.
If any Pananab consumer companies begin losing their footing, they will be likely be bought by another Pananab corporation, so if you do buy any of them, you had best be quick.
List of Pananab monopolies:
Pananab Standard Oil Company
West African Refineries
Pananab Agriculture, Inc.
Mozwah Auto Co.
Double Arms Co.
Bank of Pananab
Pananab Electronics
African Energies
Panrabia Airlines
Pananab Freighter Co.
Wordly Furniture
((I'll add more as I think of them))
All Pananab companies are open to foreign trade and investments.

This is probably one of the worst threads I have ever seen.
No matter what people say you reply "wouldn't catch on".
A better experienced and better technologically advanced military can and have lost against worse. You aren't taking everything into consideration.

1) We can provide the government with fully functional samples and designs of wind farms, offshore windfarms, hydroelectric plants, OTEC-- Ocean Thermal Energy plants, as well as advanced designs. We will sell designs and production rights for a total price of $10 billion dollars.
Hmm, I think some corporate competition would be a good thing.
OOC: What's the minimum wage laws and child labour laws in your country?
The Horde Of Doom

OOC: I was being serious about Risia...they better get accepted.
Shrak Aeronautics Corp. and The Shipyards at Wuller and Farthing are both seeking land for new factories to expand production and make room at the current factories for upcoming product launches. Both corporations take a very humanitarian stance on worker benefits, providing affordable housing near the factories and easy transportation to and from work. While neither company currently does business in normal commercial products, Shrak aeronautics produces Commercial AirLiners and is looking to expand into personal aircraft and Wuller and Farthing is looking to expand into private boating including luxury yachts and economical pleasure craft such as ski boats and cabin cruisers.
Both Companies will pay a premium on land for factories and housing and will bring with them commercial subsidies in super-markets and other residential enterprises for its workers which will be hired out of the local population as much as possible.
OOC: Karma Society-Let's see, I've been RPing here since 2003, you've got one post...I think I have a better judgement on what's a good or a bad thread. I've taken into consideration many things and I've thought this through. Besides, this isn't a military RP, so my military doesn't have much to do with anything here.
IC:
Pananab's minimum wage law in USD: $3.56
SAC: While you will be in competition with several of the monopolies, and therefore will be in for some hard times here, the Pananab government has authorized Shrak Corp. to move to Pananab.
PPC: The Pananab government has decided to take PPC's offer on alternative powers until Pananab develops their own alternative fuels.
RPC: Pananab has authorized your company to move into Pananab.
OOC: HoD, what would you have done if I had rejected? Invade me? Heh.
We would like to send in some people from the Coonan automobile inudstry to regain their sstance. They were the ones that were against the armed arfare btween Coonan and the KTR and were fired. They were threatened to be killed if they stayed in the country and turned to us, the government. We would like to let them restabilish their company in Pananab. If they can gain enough size and wealth they can support us in our war against the warring companies.
Shrak Aeronautics Corp. Will send a small group immediately to look into locations for the factories.
The Shipyards at Wuller and Farthing are awaiting word on whether they will be granted authorization to enter Pananab's markets.
Wuller and farthing are allowed in the Pananab market.
SAC will have to wind up building their own factories unless they can find their own by luck.

Risia Profit Corporation thanks you.
Shrak Aeronautics is fulling willing,a nd in fact would prefer to build its own factory.
Wuller and Farthing will also be sending a small team to search for a location for their new Shipyards facility (Wuller and Farthing will also be building its own facilities)
OOC: Do you have a map I could use to select locations?

3.Jolt doesn't have a monopoly on forums, so how many years you have played here doesn't matter.
4.NationStates isn't a very comprehensive RP, and you are godmodding.
