OOC: If anybody who has territories in Arterus wants to join TG me or Roman Greek Arterus.

IC: The girl was sleeping when the two men slipped silently into her bedroom. Holding a chloroform soaked rag, one of the men pressed his hand over her face, muffling her screams until she was unconcious. Then he carefully lifted her in his arms and slipped out of the room. The other removed an insignia from the usual Aesonic millitary uniform from his pocket and dropped it on the ground, as if it had been torn off coming through the doorway. Then he too slipped out.

Demetrios was holding a meeting with several Orthodox clergymen to discuss Church affairs. A senator ran inside and said ''Consul, your daughter is missing!'' The clergymen were shocked and Demetrios' face turned to a worried expression. They went to her room and saw that she was not there, but a Aeson insignia was found. Demetrios said ''Clergy of our Orthodox church, pray for my daughter's return.'' Then he left and wrote to the Aesonic Empress.

The SotG Aegir floated just outside of Roman Greek Arterus' territorial waters. A little further back, the SotG Valkyrie, the only aircraft carrier at his disposal, waited. Submarines patrolled the area. If the Roman Greeks decided to start a war, he fully intended that they would be made to regret it.

OOC-Perhaps you could also post what his daughter is going through, if you want to. Also, this is one of the first times I've RPed a war.

IC-RGA armies began to be sent to areas in the nation. The navy also began to sail out, ships like the HMS John Chrysostom were sent out.

Demetrios replied to Chandra:

''Empress Chandra, if your nation could assist looking for my daughter, it would be appreciated.''

The Consul met with military men to discuss plans.

RGA submarines also patrolled the area. Many Orthodox parishes were holding prayers for the girl's return.

OOC: I'd prefer if we kept this war on Arterus, just to make that clear.

IC: Svetlana was kept in a large, well lit, and comfortable room, which had only one door and no windows. Her kidnappers fed her regularly, and reasonably well, it was the same food that they ate. However, they rarely spoke to her, and when they came into her room it was always wearing the uniform of the Aesonic Navy.

IC: Several landing boats full of troops and equipment joined the fleet, ready to make a landing should hostilities break out.

The two armies waited, watching each other. Demetrios hoped Svetlana was ok, hoping she was treated well.

Svetlana was still being treated well by the kidnappers. She had thought that they would interact, her and the kidnappers but they rarely spoke to her.

Demetrios' High Command continued planning. Demetrios wrote a letter to Chandra.

''Empress, I tell you. Some of our people do not believe you. They think you took my daughter. Not to say you did, but war may brake out as our armies are assembling.''

OOC: Well, you said, "I hope we do good." Since 'good' is in the predicate, as opposed the subject, it should be well, as in "I hope we do well." Seriously though, don't worry about it, I'm sure that there are sailors with less than perfect grammar.

You are Romanish? Roman Greece (RGA is a puppet) is Roman but does borrow from the Byzantine Empire and Rome. RGA borrows the Roman Republic government model.

The letter was sent and Svetlana began to eat the food she was given. ''Why was I kidnapped?'' Svetlana wondered, she did not know why they did so.

OOC: No, in fact she was supposed to write this. Remember, these guys aren't actually Aesonic Naval Special Forces, but they are trying to start a war. A letter saying the ANSF was responsible should go a good ways towards that. Svetlana's a pawn.

Then she covered her mouth, for she feared that they would do something horrible to her for what she said, she just came to her senses. ''God and Christ are with us and we shall prevail.'' Svetlana thought as she became more nervous and in fear of how they would take in her statement.

I hate to keep butting in, but RGA is Orthodox and based on the Byzantine empire somewhat, and NR is Roman Catholic and based on the western Empire. So, like on the other thread, maybe something can be worked out?

The letter that went out almost immediately in reply was, "I have told you, I have no knowledge of this. My generals have no knowledge of this. Our millitary was not involved. If we had your daughter, we would return her."

RGA's state faith is Orthodox Christianity, NR. If you fear a backlash because of the Great Schism, that won't happen but it would make a good RP, to some. Roman Greece is the one based on the Byzantine Empire and RGA is based on the Roman Republic and sometimes the Byzantines.

A second carrier joined the first, accompanied by several battleships on the surface, and, unseen, several submarines.

Meanwhile, a third carrier, accompanied by several supply ships and a few destroyers waited just outside of Roman Greek Arterus's territorial waters to the north of the mainland. It was soon joined by several troop carriers.

The Empress sighed, and stared out the window towards Arterus.

Like the Aesonic Empress looked for consul from her Gods, so was Demetrios from God the Father. ''Father, let Svetlana safely return home and destroy the tensions of war.'' Demetrios prayed.

''Chandra, I see our forces are inching to attack. I would like your search to continue for my daughter. If we fight, may Our Father in Heaven have mercy on us both.''

Demetrios spent most of that day, planning and praying, praying prayers like the Christian Lord's Prayer.

Svetlana kept praying, trying to seek Divine help in her and RGA's situation.

OOC: Do you have a more in depth map than the overall one of Arterus? I think that the kidnappers might get ahold of an aircraft, and strafe a civilian city/town/settlement if there's any such location handy.

OOC: All right. What kind of anti-aircraft is there around the Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene? Would the pilot actually be able to attack it and get away? Attack it and get shot down? Not manage to attack at all, only an attempt? Or should I use ground forces, namely someone sets a bomb, and then sets it off at an appropiate time (probably when there isn't anyone there, to avoid drawing the world at large into the fight)

Bartholomew sat in the plane as it soared towards the target. He didn't expect to come back alive, but that was for the gods to decide. After all, that he hadn't been spotted despite the fact that this country was preparing for war was surely a sign that the gods supported his purpose. And now he could see the Cathedral up ahead. He had turned off his radio, not interested in the inevitable warnings to turn aside now or be shot down. They'd be shooting at him soon anyways. He pressed the firing button, and bullets lanced out from his guns, the first few tracers to ensure that he was aiming correctly, not that there was any chance of missing such a massive target.

Bullets tore up the ornate stone work, but it was not enough. Bartholomew pressed a different button, and a missile left his plane, exploding against the cathedral. He turned his plane so that he flew over a road, and sent a few bullets down among the cars driving along it. Then he was hit by the anti-aircraft fire and was going down. Calmly, he reached for the cyanide tablet provided to him and bit down on it. Since he was wearing a millitary uniform and flying a plane with the insignia of the Aesonic Airforce on it, the only possible way the mission could be compromised was if he spoke. Though he was confident he could resist any torture, he wasn't willing to take the risk that the enemy would use truth-serum, or any other such drug.

OOC: I haven't landed any armies yet, so you can't be firing on them, unless you went and invaded my nation when I wan't looking.

IC: The captain of the SotG Aegir smiled savagely. The waiting was over. The battle had begun. His guns returned fire with interest, while his damage control crews worked feverishly. Meanwhile, SAMs started shooting down the enemy fighters, and the carrier prepared to launch it's bombers. Subs also began firing, as did the destroyers. Once all their fish were in the water, the subs pulled back, and the Aegir, the destroyers, and the carrier all started firing depth charges to make life interesting for any enemy submarines.

Since it was unlikely that the Roman Greek Arterusians would make the long trek through unfamiliar territory to attack on land, naval superiority would mean they could keep them bottled up while they brought in as many troops as they needed to. Svetlana ran to her father and embraced him. ''Svetlana, you are ok!'' Demetrios said, thanking God and holding his daughter. ''You must be Claudio. Let's negotiate.''

First, The Aesonic Navy will be allowed to establish a millitary base on the Roman Greek Areterian island. That base will be considered sovereign Aesonic land.

Claudio withdrew a pen and paper from a briefcase, and his hand flew over the paper. When he was done he handed it to Demetrios.

Svetlana watched as Demetrios signed the treaty. Then he said ''At last, this is all over, for now.'' He then said ''Thank you again for saving my daughter.'' Then they all parted ways.
