Orran Ansu, Captain of the Lancer-Class (http://www.galacticempiredatabank.com/LancerFrigate.jpg) frigate Reviler, slumped into his command chair. The bridge was empty tonight, though there was little activity during the day either. The vessel had been adrift for nearly seven months after a running battle with a security cruiser. They'd made a few dents in the enemy vessel, but Orran's ship had sustained heavy damage. Several decks were still exposed to the vacuum of space, and artificial gravity was only active on a few.
They still had around nine weeks of supplies, but unless someone picked them up, they were merely postponing the inevitable. Several troopers had already spread their brains over the walls. The engines had failed soon after the encounter, and none of the quad lasers functioned any more. A fault in the power distribution system had seen to that.
Orran pulled a blanket around himself, and tried to sleep...
OOC: Mando ship, badly damaged after a run-in with planetary security forces (Apart from hiring out mercs, we run guns for several companies), no hope of getting home under their own power. Distress signal is broadcasting. Remaining crew: 644
Mods restarted my nation for me, and I thought I'd start over. If anyone cares, I used to play as Verghastinsel, but lost the net for a couple of months unexpectedly.

There is very little hospitality in the void. Usually it comes down to those fetid moments locked in combat to settle disputes; but this time it is different. The Chronosian vessel has picked up their signal and set a course; a small vessel in most regards, an Idolator raider vessel; slowly, softly, hovering alongside the idled craft. It began to broadcast, a hissed whisper indicating that they came peacefully. They were preparing to board; power and oxygen would be provided.
Gently moving closer, the vessel waited for a reply; to see if anyone else was alive; anyone else worth saving. The Chronosians were not reknowned for their Good Samaritan tendencies; usually they wanted something in return. Still, it would take some time for these capricious sons of Chaos to show their true hand, or colors.

The recon ship SRS Foxhound, a Shadow-class design, was moving quietly through the void on it's own route when the message began to reach it. In times of war, this vessel would be used to infiltrate enemy lines with it's cloaking device and powerful engines allowing it to make lightning fast strikes against enemy positions. In times of peace, such as now, its sensors functioned just as well for long-range science missions. For security reasons, they carried a skeleton crew of 130, but this was more than enough.
"Captain, we're recieving a message on a wide-band frequency. Sounds like a distress message."
"Origin?"
"A ship some four lightyears from our current position... 187 mark 023."
Captain Adamska thought for a moment,"If we left now, ETA?"
"At maximum warp, we could be there in three hours."
"Do so. Helm, set course for the origin. Tactical, have the cloaking device ready and weapons fully charged. Just in case."
"Yessir."
The ship turned about, and set off for the messages origin...
*Two hours, fifty-nine minutes later*
The ship jumped back into normal space, and surveyed the damaged ship,"Tactical, what are we getting?"
"664 lifesigns... multiple hull breachs... it's a mess, plain and simple. A Chronosian ship as well..."
"Dammit, they got here first. Those guys in there don't know what could hit them. Alright, hail the damaged ship, see if we get a response."
This is the Snake Eater naval ship Foxhound. We are here to render assistance. Please respond.

Orran awoke to the crackling voice of the ship's AI. It had slowly increased the volume of the bridge vox speakers until the open hall echoed with it's distorted cry.
"<CAPTAIN!>" blasted the vox units, one final time.
Orran stirred immediately from his rest, his hand shooting to his blaster. It took him a few seconds to take in the situation, but by then his adrenalin was already up and he spoke with a stutter.
"<I'm... awake, 41!>" he stammered. "<What the hell is happening?>"
"<Captain>" said the AI, "<I'm recieving two incoming transmissions. Bo>"
"<What?>" exclaimed Orran. "<There's someone out there?>"
"<Yes, sir. I'm picking up a pair of ships, both of differing design, and both broadcasting.>"

Reviler, this is the Whispering Death; of the Chronosian Imperium. We are readied to deploy a coupling between our vessels. Standby
Hydraulics hissed and seethed as the techpriests invoked the litanies of ignition; the coupling slid forth; pressuring around a hatch in the vessels hull. A team was swiftly readied; Captain Matthias Arctorian standing at the door; at his side was his favored auto-savant; Duma, while they were in turn accompanied by a half dozen Marines. Matthis was clad in his ceremonial armor; black and red, adorned with gold and various fineries.
They were ready for trouble, for diplomacy; and even for rescue. They waited; the seal at their end opening; as they gazed forth; and began to walk.

OOC: So? You are Wars scum! Burn *pwns* Na, I'm just messing with ya, you're alright.
The medical team beamed over, with their supplies at the ready. They went to work straight away. A few of them wore the yellow undershirt of Security... it paid to be cautious in such matters. They carried the standard pulse rifle, but it was obviously safe at the moment, instead slung behind their backs as they helped to tend to the injured. There was no desire for conquest, only to help those who had requested it.

The dim hallway of the docking coupling shook with the heavy tread of the power-armoured warriors of Chronosia. Even in the half-light they could see the far airlock with perfect clarity. Warning lights flashed red, and a light as white as a star reflected from the steel surfaces of the Mandalorian vessel as the door to the pressurised chamber was opened. Their eyes adjusted to the brightness in a short second, and rank upon rank of armoured warriors were revealed.
The Mandalorian crew had assembled a hundred-strong greeting for the Chronosians, for no law governs the vacuum save the law of might. A lone Mandalorian stepped forward from the corridor, waiting ten feet short of the airlock to greet the Chronosian Captain. As the Marines ceased their long march from ship to ship, he spoke.
"I am Gryde Ansu, second warrior to Orran Ansu, Captain of the Reviler. Forgive me for the distrust, but it is a fool who allows a stranger aboard his ship without escort. I am sure you would have done the same in our position."

Three armoured warriors accompanied the SE medical staff to a temporary hospital where the injured were kept. Forty-five warriors had broken bones or suffered serious cuts and falls during the battle, and most of the ship's supplies and wards had been lost with the main medical rooms.

Matthias bows lightly. "Of course; one must always be wary of friends and foes amongst the stars. One must trust only in himself, and his beliefs. As we travel the void, we trust in the Gods of Chaos to guide us; their light is our salvation; the warp, our redemption. We have fought many wars, and lived many years; we would be so swiftly taken advantage of" He chuckles.
"We are willing to provide medical and technical assistance insofar as you require it. We have Tech Priests and Apothecaries standing ready to aid."

The Mandalorian armour aroused interest in the Security personnel, but they didn't have time to ask questions. They were working quickly, making sure that one man was fully healed before they could commit themselves fully to the next one at hand. One of the medical personnel wiped his brow,"What the hell happened to you guys?"

"Your assistance is greatly appreciated," replied Gryde. "Our medical rooms were practically destroyed by enemy fire when our shields failed, and there are numerous shipboard systems that will benefit greatly from qualified personnel. Our engines, however, are beyond repair, and the Captain asks if he can speak with you in regards to the problem of recovering our ship."

"A disagreement with a security cruiser over our shipment to a blockaded world," replied the squad leader. "They chased us out of their own territory, then managed to catch up with us somehow. They shot the hell out of the ship and left us for dead." He extended a hand to the medic. "Dradek Ansu."

"Seven months," said Dradek. "Low rations, minimum power usage, and the only thing holding us together is the armour plate and a few void shields in important areas. We lost a hundred and sixty-nine men in the fight, and we've lost thirty-seven crewmen to morale."

"Chaos fanatics, all of them. Large majority are Space Marines as well, which means they can take a hell of a beating and still keep coming. To be honest, we've never had a good expierence with them, and we could be slightly biased. Oh well, at least your captain was smart enough to take an escort. He's also a brave son of a bitch... takes a lot to turn your back on somone like that."
He'd finished going over the injuries of the man he was tending to, giving him a painkiller injection before moving onto the next one,"Your crew we can treat, but I think it's going to be hard going to get you guys moving again, if not nigh impossible."
Clan Ansu
18-04-2006, 18:54
"I could have told you that. Those engines haven't so much as flickered for half a year. The whole bastard things need to be ripped out and replaced." Dradek clicked his neck from side to side. "Orran doesn't need to be brave to stand up to the Chronosians, he knows they won't try anything - we're Mandalorians..."

18-04-2006, 18:58
Tom nodded, his dark hair seeming to absorb all the light that came it's way,"I know that. Your armour reminds me of the armour used by the Snake Eater army and marines... that's based off the Old Republic clone troopers, which in turn was based off yours."
As Dradek said that the Chronosians wouldn't try anything, just because the crew of this ship was Mandalorian, he shook his head,"No offence, but those guys wouldn't give a damn. If they wanted your ship badly, they'd attack, and attack hard. No real tactics, just brute force. I'm telling you, there's little that can stand up to a Space Marine, even a Mandalorian. We've got Space Marines in Snake Eaters, not Chaos like these ones, but just as deadly."

{"Tza'kya! <Of Mekantan Warship to send. To investigate. To examine.>"}
{Rage. The image of blood dripping.}
{"<To deny. Of the Zircon to deny. Of Mekantans to go.>"}
-Deep space
The fabric of space and time seemed to shriek and writhe in agony as a huge black-hulled warship punched into the area. Its rough surface crackled with energy, as large spines extended during it's de-jump slid back against the ship. A quick scanner sweep told the Star Lord aboard the Neo-Mekantan vessel, that of the Darkship classification, all he needed to know of the situation.
"<Of Chronosia to be. Of unknown two to be. Of unknown one to bleed. To offer aid confirmation?>" The Mekantan captain mused, the crimson bands running down his cheeks from his blood-red eyes darkening as he thought. "<... To go. Of communication to begin.>"
The ebon walls of his personal command core glowed to life, and interconnected crimson pattern signifying the ship was transmitting. He cleared his throat, reviewing 'Terranspeak' in his head a brief moment, before beginning.
"This is Neo-Mekantan Hegemony Warship to Chronosian Vessel and two unidentified vessels. Request status information. Is assistance required?"

Dradek understood the threat posed by a fanatical enemy, and activated his commlink, broadcasting on the officers' channel.
"<This is Sergeant Dradek Ansu, I've been talking with the Snake Eaters medical orderlies, and they tell me the Chronosians are a bunch of religious fanatics. They may attack without consideration of possible casualties. Advise readyness at all times.>"
He turned back to Matthews, "I think I should thank you for telling me that. If they actually turn on us they won't have the advantage of surprise."
-----
Gryde hid his initial revulsion at the brutal implants worn by the Chronosian engineers.
"I don't quite understand what you mean...A machine is simply a device - made by men to perform it's function, there is no...supernatural element."
-----
The bridge was crewed again for the first time since the ship had been crippled. Orran Ansu sat in his command chair, and Mandalorians manned the communications, sensors and security desks. The helm and tactical stations were unpowered, and their chairs empty.
The comm trooper turned to face his Captain. "<Orran, we have an incoming transmission. It's not from either of those two ships out there...>"

OOC: MEKANTA! Holy shit dude, how've you been? how is Uni life treating you?
IC:
Far away, an automated listening post picks up a transmition:
"This is Neo-Mekantan Hegemony Warship to Chronosian Vessel and two unidentified vessels. Request status information. Is assistance required?"
The drone station, knowing only that the broadcast was on an emergency frequency, sent it on to the nearest available ship, The Deviant , one of the many thousands of Aegeus' mighty Ermac battle cruisers. The communications officer receives the incomming message, and stares at the broadcast frequency. He calls over the comander of his vessel, Jim Kearn.
"Uhm, comander, your not going to beleive this."
The captain, a man with salt-and-pepper hair in his mid fifties walks over, his boots clicking on the psuedo-tile floors of the comand deck.
"Hit me with it."
the Comms officer sighs
"Well sir, it seems that we found a signal, aparently replying to something too weak for the listeniners to pick up, but the comms code is MK-427. Thats the code for Neo-Mekanta."
Kearn looks at the officer dumbfounded.
"Mekantans. As in Mekanta of the ESUS? The Mekantans we haven't heard from in hundreds of years?"
The officer nods. Kearn smiles, the headman will be pleased. He turns around and barks orders to his comand crew.
"Alright everyone, It's time to hustle. Nav, set a course for sector 28-Delta6. Engeneerign give us 120% output on the nexus, I want a full Nexus vortex. Comms, send a transmition to The Will and tell the Headman that we are movign to meet a Mekantan ship. Also, see if you cant get a hold of Frost, he still needs to deliver those prisoners. Alright everyone, we pack out in two minutes, lets move!"
The large blakc and green ship begins to move off, its engines glowing dull orange in the void of space. It opens a swirling and electrified nexus gate, passing through into a new realm of space: Nexus space. It's time to find out who truly remembers the Aegeans.

The Star Lord smirked as he sent a reply first to the damaged vessel, hoping to learn more about this new presence that has emerged since Neo-Mekanta's disapearance.
"Confirmed. We can synthesize new components for repairs, if you wish. Initial scans indicate massive damage to propulsion and hull. Confirm?"
Next, this other new power. Snake Eaters... They were curious. Their technology was like that used by many others, but something was different about it. Regardless, they could be trouble.
"Confirmed. Synthesis of medical supplies has already begun. Requesting information on physiology of these creatures. We shall translocate in a medical team if you desire. Confirm?"
Third, last, and most important to the Star Lord, was the old allied nation of Chronosia.
"In the name of Minagoroshi, Goddess All-Consuming, we greet you, our Chronosian Allies. Requesting status of damaged craft. Is assistance required? Confirm?"
Then, waiting for responses, lest a peaceful situation become one where real work would be required...

A thin layer of frost had formed on Dradek's armour, skin and equipment. The cold seemed to penetrate every cell in his body, and he dry-heaved. After regaining control, he looked around at the sickbay, glad to be aboard a sound ship again.

He paused a second to pick up a tricorder from the work table, and began to scan the injured man,"Hmm... impact trauma, broken limbs, blood loss... nothing that we can't handle."
The sickbay was actually fairly spartan, with little in the way of additional furnishings. Matthews sedated the other man whilst he worked,"What do you think of our humble ship?"

"It seems practical," said Dradek. "No unneccessary things. Of course, I haven't seen anything other than the medbay, and medical areas aren't intended for recreation."
There is a solitary flash of light. A small light blue point in space apears, several bolts of lightning arching out in graceful arcs, jumpping onto the nearby space dust. the whole suddenly explodes into a huge vortex of blues, blacks, and greens. The odd engine intakes can be seen from all around the area, their odd lava-esque glow burning birghtly as the green and black ship slides silently from the glowing electrified vortex.
every single mekantan old enough remembers these ships, and the death they rained down upon all those who stood in their way. The Shivans, The GE, The GZ, and countless other small nations of little importance. The hundreds of tureted railguns and plasma cannons glint in the reflected light of the Nexus portal, blue blue accenting the many barrels and cowlings across the ship.
A comm rings out over the void of space, cutting into the chatter between the four ships. On the video monitors, a man dressed in full aegean battle dress stands at attention, he wears the silvery eagle emblem, representing the rank of Starship captain.
"May Aegeus watch over us all. I am Captain Kear of the Ermac Class Battle cruiser Deviant Is there anything we can do to assist?"
Behind the man stands an odly armored man, his oddly bucket-shaped helmet painted black, with purple trim around his T-visor. The man wears a side-swung cape, revealing the armor covering his chest and shoulders, his Gauntlets gleaming. On his chest, he bears a single Symbol, a highly stylized F. This is Frost K'Amon.

Equipped with a class-7 co-axial warp drive... I'm no engineer, but I believe that at top speed, according to your scale, this ship makes 0.75 past lightspeed. "Five phaser arrays and two torpedo launchers. She's also one of the few ships in Snake Eaters to be able to carry the Gatekeeper missile... can't tell you much more than that. With the cloaking device, resonable weapons load and high speed, she's designed to go in, deal out massive damage quickly, and then bug out. Demoralises the enemy, we find. In peace time though, she makes a good scoutship, finding new planets and such."

"Is that what you were doing before you ran into us?"
OOC: Oh, look. There's the door to the bridge.
The Deviant has waited for a few minutes. Perhaps these ships are relics, and the transmittion was just an automated playback. Captain Kear frowns. He nods to his comms officer.
"Send out a sub-sonic ping. see if anyone wakes up."
Subsonic pings are something often used by Kourn'Nou'Kath ships to communicate. A wave of light is broadcast at a frequency, conincidentaly microwave, and in such a pattern, that the light colides with an atom, and the roving photons cause a vibration. This vibration just happens to emenate from Iron, Steel, and many other metals at a loud pitch, creating a characteristic "Ping," which is actually a rather loud "Wooong" sort of noise, and was barrowed from ancient submersible terminology.
The deep single throbing pulse blasts through the interior of the ships, echoing off the bulkheads. Captain kear begins his transmittion again.
"I am Captain Kear of an Ermac Class Battle cruiser The Deviant, of the Aegean navy. Is there anything we can do to assist? Is anyone out alive out there?"

OOC:
Operator:We get signal.
Captain: What? Main screen turn on!
This Guy: I am Captain Kear of an Ermac Class Battle cruiser The Deviant, of the Aegean navy. Is there anything we can do to assist? Is anyone out alive out there?
IC Reply:
"This is Orran Ansu of the Mandalorian ship Reviler, our vessel was heavily damaged after an encounter with a hostile ship, and we are receiving assistance from Chronosian, Mekantan and Snake Eaters ships.
"I thank you for your offer of assistance, but we believe that the situation is now in hand."
Operator: Oh no!
Captain: Somone set up us the bomb!
IC:
Kear frowns.
"Well, We also have buisness with your Mekantan friends, so we shal patrol the imediate area, and repel anyone with less-than-honorable intentions."
The screen flips off and Kear nods to his tactics operative. The officer hits several switches, and comms to engeneering, diverting power from the Nexus drives to the FTLi.

"Is that what you were doing before you ran into us?"
OOC: Oh, look. There's the door to the bridge.
OOC: Convienient that.
IC: "Pretty much, yeah."
The door to the bridge opened, and Matthews led him inside,"This, like any other bridge, is the nerve centre of ships operations. All the major positions are here, Tactical, Helm Control, ah, Captain Adamska."
Adamska was blond-haired, of Russian descent, but had since lost the accent. He was talking to his Ops manager when the door had opened, and travelled over,"Lieutenant Matthews."
"Sir. This is Sergeant Dradek, of the ship we're helping out. I'm giving him the tour of the ship, the non-restricted parts anyway, whilst one of his men is in surgery and recovery."
Adamska nodded approvingly,"Good. So, what do you think of our ship so-far, Sergeant?"

"From what I've seen, the crew is trained and focused, the layout functional and practical in all areas, not just essentials. Matthews showed me an external pict, and broadly outlined the vessel's capabilities.
"She's a hunter, a predator. Maximum firepower in the shortest time in the weakest spot. I must say...I like your ship, Captain."
OOC: A non-Mandalorian officer is not a 'Sir', he is merely the chosen leader of currently non-hostile troops. The simple fact of rank does not confer immediate respect.
I made that up :D

OOC: I noticed.... wonder where everyone else has gone.
IC: Adamska smiled again,"I like the assessment. This is by no means the most powerful ship in the fleet, nor the best for frontline combat, but she does her job. In any case, I was just discussing with my Operations manager about your crew. I understand you may not be able to speak for all of them, but with your engines gone, we don't have anyway to take you home. We could tractor you, but unlike most vessels, our tractor beams don't work at lightspeed. It's a problem that our scientists at home are working on. Anyway, I digress; I'm willing to send off a communication for a ship that could take you home, one of our military transport ships."

"I'm sure our captain will thank you for this offer," said Dradek, "and for the help you have given to our wounded, but you will have to speak with him about this matter. I am a soldier. I go where I am told to go and kill who I am told to kill, I do not have the authority to make a decision on this."
OOC: All disappeared. I cry.

Adamska nodded,"I suspected as much. Still, no harm in trying. Once your man is ready to return, I'll go with you, speak with him face to face.
OOC: I wonder if Chron left because of my comments... oh well, not my intention.
