NSWiki article (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Motion_Pictures_of_NS)

Here's something that hasn't been don yet. Well maybe, I could be wrong. But anyhow I want to learn a little about the Movies of the world.

Some things you could post are:

Popular Movies of your country

Controversial Movies

Box Office

Special Groups and Guilds (ex. Directors Guild, AMPAS Writers Guild)

Awards

Ratings (Certification), law or optional? If so what are they?

House Hold Names

The Critics

And anything else you want, heck you can even tell me all movies are banned in your country.
West Corinthia
18-04-2006, 00:39
Some popular movies in West Corinthia and their results:

-"Operation Unification" -Documentary about the West Corinthian invasion of East Corinthia. Rated R for graphic war violence, language, and some brutality.

-"The Democrat and the Dictator" -Controversial film which showed how the Czar really came to power. Was directed by several anti-government dissenters who disappeared shortly after the movie was released. Rated banned from viewing.

-"One Man Army" -Action movie about a man who wakes up alone in the desert surrounded by terrorists and with nothing but a gun and copious amounts of ammo. Rated R for violence and epic battle sequences.

No guilds or awards have been created yet for the fledgling Corinthian movie industry.

Ratings are mandatory but have little effect on who can see the movie. An infant could see a rated R movie if they had money for a ticket. The only rating that has any significance is the "banned" rating, in which case no one is allowed to see it.

Block Busters and the Movies the Stir

Recentally some heavy movies have stirrd attention either in a good way, or in a concerned way.

The now becoming infamous documentry War Mongrels alleging how the government is becoming very war hungry, and getting involved in too many wars. The tag line is a mockery of the National Motto Unity Justice, Freedom and War War WAR!!! Recived an R rating but only on appeal.

One of the most classic movies of all time is one that is always redone time and time again.

Yasashii Himura also known as Y.H. was a smash hit and held it's water at the Box Office grossing nearly $60 Million Dollars, and wining 20 diffrent awards. The film follows the life of the nation's founder from start to finish.
It was first made in 1970 remade in 1980, remade again only with from diffrent aspects in 1990, and and two plots are underway to restore and master the 1970 version, and to remake it exactly from the same screenplay.

A well known studio is Teen Films Ltd. Which makes films staring, and aimed at teens. Fantasy, Drama, Romance, Adventure, everygenre has come out. But they have come under fire for often producing a fair share of heavily erotic films, or sometimes even dangerous.
Sea Voyage is perhaps their most talked about yet. It features two teens (Boy Freind/Girl Friend) on a sailing trip together. It was a wild romantic journey through harsh storms, featuring nudity and innuendo. Not to mention the heavy peril involved. (Recived an MA-15 rating)

Guilds

The dominate group is the Arts Academy which overseas everything from Video Games, to Motion Pictures.

Others inculde:

The Directors Guild

The Writers Guild

Actors Guild

Kanami Society of Cinematography (K.S.C.)

Kanami Cinema Editors (K.C.E.)

Casting Society of Kanami (C.S.K)

Generally entertainment goes uncensord. Usually because most get a Certification from the Kanami Board of Entertainment Classification and Ratings. (KBECR) Certification is optional though, and a good deal of indepent films go with out an offical rating.

Ratings: (Movies)

GA-General Audiences All Ages Admitted

PG-Parental Guidence

MA-13 Mature Audiences over 13 Strongly Recommended

MA-15 Restricted to Audiences Under 15 Must Be Accompanied by Adut Guradian or Parent

R-Restricted Under 17

NC-17 No One 17 and Under Admitted

X-19 Pornographic. No one 19 and Under Admitted

Can only be shown in restricted Theaters, sold in certain shops, and on certain websites

Video Games:

EC-Early Child Hood

G7+ For Gamers 7 and Older

TG-Teen Gamers 13+

MG-Mature Gamers 17+

A18-Adult Gamers 18 and Above

So far very few movies have actually been banned from the country.

I'm So High (1977) which was a movie about drugs was banned because of it's heavy pro drug use. It was finally released in 1980 with an NC-17 Rating and it was cut.

Christ (2000) A movie featuring the life of Jesus Christ almost was banned. However as Kanami is not an extreemly secular nation it still made it to theaters. It was however given an R rating for the graphic crusifixtion sceen.

Come Come Paradise (1990) was orginally banned due to it's very violent nature. However the movie becuase it was a war movie it was understood why it was so violent. (NC-17)
The Beltway
18-04-2006, 03:43
To the Arts Academy of Kanami -
Seeing as how you recently asked about the state of the film industry in The Beltway, I put together the following information for your purposes:
The film industry of The Beltway can best be described as miniscule.' It consists mostly of independent documentary filmmakers, although a few notable actors and directors attempted, in the early days of The Beltway, to establish a small-scale version of Hollywood; GeorgeWood still exists, but struggles to maintain market share, especially given the astounding rebirth of television.

Prominent films of late include "Inside MS-13," a documentary on the infamous El Salvadorean gang; "The Racers," a documentary looking at horse racing jockeys; "Corruption," a political thriller by director George Clooney; and "Innocents Abroad," a modern take on the Mark Twain book.

Ratings, although not mandated by law, are set by the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America). These ratings range from G (general admission) to NC-17 (no person under 17 admitted).

Major movie critics in The Beltway include old Washington Post hand Stephen Hunter, new Baltimore Sun critics Q'orina Wynne and Andrew Vane, and prominent blogger Mike Yun.Sincerely,
Kweisi Mfume, Tourism Minister of The Beltway

The Gobbo Blood Saga! is owned by pretty much anyone with a Video player or DVD player, with the exception of Gobbo Blood 2!

The Director Grotz has made his own name widely recognised with his wonderful Gobbo Blood Saga, however there are no great actors as they tend to die in film.

"it is far more simple to impress a Gobbo than it is to shoot a fish inside a barrel!"
Peter Joeson

There are no critics simply because Gobbo's love violence and any violent film is bound to have great box office returns.

Famous Aequatian Movies

The Day the Sky Cried - A war drama about the Federban War following two individuals, a woman living within Magna Casa and an Army Infantry Officer deployed to Federban during the conflict. The film depicts, graphically, the chemical attacks on the Aequatian major cities during the peace talks and a famous incident where an Army unit prevented the destruction of a city within Federban by Marine units. One of the more patriotic war films, it has some of the best production values, especially in practical and computer-generated effects, as well as great acting on the part of Harold Black, who plays President Bomfy, in a scene where he debates retaliating against the nation of Federban using SS-18 Satan missiles armed with thermonuclear warheads in the nation's first deployment of nuclear weapons.

The Golden Hedgehog: It exists for best film, best sports film, best short film, best female actor, best male actor, best music, best special effects and best synchronization

Ratings (Certification), law or optional? If so what are they?

The ratings are guidelines. If you want to watch a side'tes 18 film as 16 year old, you can. However cinemas might enforce the guidelines to avoid lawsuits.

side'tes 6: For 6 year olds and older persons.

side'tes 12: For 12 year olds and older persons. Most 'adult movies are this rating since rejistanis consider violence more dangerous than sex.

side'tes 18: For 18 year olds and older persons. Violence normally justifies at least this rating.

side'tes 21: For 21 year olds and older persons. This means the film is considered unacceptable for a general audience. Foreign horror movies often fall into this category.

Rating: NB-13

City of Steel: Taking place in the violent streets of San Acero, this is the story of Eduardo, a member of the Puerto Rican gang, Las Arañas Negras. Rating: 21+ for Drugs, Violence, Racism, Sex, Foul Language, and Illegal Themes.

Controversial Movies

City of Steel: City of Steel takes place in the gang plagued city of San Acero. Many people were most offended by the various racial remarks made by the characters in the movie and the portrayal of some of the races as being "stereotypical gangsters". The most controversial scene in the entire was without a doubt the scene in which the white supremisists, known in the movie as the Hand of the Aryan God, lock up several hispanics inside a slumbuilding and set it on fire, leaving behind a flaming Nazi swastika in the ground. Many theaters threatened to ban it, but after record sales in one weekend the theaters began defending the movie from critics.

M.S. has recently started up our Motion Pictures Industry and is slowly breaking into it. Although we have had photography for some time.

Certification is only madated for international films. Domestic Films it's optional. Ratings are set by the VRC (Video Rating Council)

GA-General Audiences: Appropriate for all audiences. No blood or graphic violence. No profanity, no mature sexual themes and no usage of drugs or alcohol.

MA-13 — Mature Audiences: Parental Discretion Advised. The film is suitable for audiences thirteen years of age or older. Could have some blood in it and more intense violence. Also may contain nudity (Sexual or sesual) harsh language, or otherwise very strong mature themes.

MA-17 — Mature Audiences: Not appropriate for minors. Thef ilm is suitable for audiences seventeen years of age or older. Film could have lots of blood, graphic violence, mature sexual themes, profanity, drug or alcohol usage. Theme may be too intense for younger audiences

AO-18-Adults Only: Film contains strong sexual themes and/or sexual related violence (i.e. graphic rape sceens)

Popular Films

So far the most popular films have been foreing films.

Fantasy Quest (Emerald Springs) was a block buster grossing over a billon dollars. (GA)

The domestic film Kyoko was also a great sucess. The film follows a young girl named Kyoko as she goes through life, and perils. (MA-13)

A short film called Rise To Power Chronicles Chancellor Kotobuki's short time in office, and how he led M.S. into serious trouble. (MA-13)

Another Tales of the Sea was a commerical disaster but a critical succes. It follows a group of teens trying to survive a long and horendus journey accorss the fictional ocean called Zyx. (MA-17)

Adult Films arre only shown in theators and are not for sale on home enterntainment. All films under this are automatically given AO-18, or sometimes Z in some parts of the country.

Gisela (H-Town Tejas) which just opened, was a block buster hit, and one to be rembered forever. The life of a 15-year old Latina named Gisela Perez during the Tejano Civil War. In an unlucky town that is constantly the scene of fighting between the democratic socialist Tejano Proletariat Army and the fascist government's Social Republic Army, Gisela must take care of her four younger siblings and herself, all the while dealing with the intense guerilla warfare going on in her country, her mother's death, her father's disappearance, the abuse she must endure from the SRA, and her friends' involvement with the TPA. Based off the accounts of Modesta Jacinta Cruz, a girl who lived in the "unoccupiable city" of San Angelo during the Tejano Civil War. The film has been topping the charts for a long time, and is sure to be on the list as one of the best films ever made (MA-17)

For example a film called Get Down Tonight while rated AO-18 in northern M.S. would be rated Z in more rural places, to avoid illiteracy confusion.

Controversial Movies:

"Lighthouse" was a sucess but very controversial in it's nature. It involves a young teenage mother and father that move into an old lighthouse and take it over. The reason it was so controversial because it seemed to be pro-teenage parenthood, and almost made it look to easy and triumphent,

The Studio known at A.F. (Atheistic Films) has produced a number of controversial films that have all been anti-religion

"His Holiness" A parody of the Pope and the Catholic Church.

"Mormonica" Another comedy film only making fun the Mormon church

"Luthy" Another anti religious comedy about Lutherns.

All of these have been hashed by the religious populations.
