The Holy Republic of Thetania
"For President, Nation and Scientology!"

A symbol used in Thetania
The Holy Republic of Thetania is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 6 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Religion & Spirituality, although Social Welfare and Law & Order are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 55%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Beef-Based Agriculture.
Voting is voluntary. Crime is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Thetania's national animal is the Body Thetan, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Dianetic Dollar.
UN Category: Liberal Democratic Socialists

David Miscavige of the Scientologist Party is the leader of Thetania. The Thetanian Monarchy is no longer in power but is somewhat respected. Currently, the titular King of Thetania is Constantine II (may change).
Civil War looms (see my Thetanian OOC Civil War Thread) because Joseph Monet and the Reformers are planning to overthrow the government.
The national and state religion is Scientology, Christianity (still deciding on majority denomination) is the second largest faith.
The Scientologist book, Dianetics is infused in the Thetanian Constitution.
Joseph Monet is the leader of the rebels who want to establish a ''Thetanian Reformation'', his group is known as the Reformers or to Miscavige, the Monetists.
Lafayette (may change) is the capital of Thetania, it is also what the L. stands for in L. Ron Hubbard.
One pressure group, the Thetanian Religious Rights Organization, believes that Christians are called ''second-class'' and that Scientologists get more rights and so on then Christians or other religious minorities. (I may scrap this later)
Thetania has been criticized for things like Dianetics in the Constitution, the religion of Scientology as the state religion and other things. Miscavige has tried to fix up things but criticism can still be found.

How did I do on my factbook?
Well it seems like you have coppied and pasted your nations status. Which is a good start. But what I generally look for and see in factbooks, is a lot of the stuff that isn't in your nations description paragraph. Offical languages, religions, polticla parties. Although I did see that, don't be afraid to expand on your factbook more. Like history, crticism, social life and world. If you want to see more Fact-books go to NSWikipedia, it's a great place to start a fact book, (But very complicated) ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Main page.
Heck wikipedia is a good place in it's self.

Thetania's government is criticized for the acceptance of the Barley Formula of L Ron Hubbard.
From Wikipedia-
Hubbard stated that the delivery room should be as silent as possible during birth. This stems from his belief that birth is a trauma that may induce engrams into the baby. Hubbard teaches that words in particular should be avoided because he stated that any words used during birth might be reassociated by an adult, later on in life, with their earlier traumatic birth experience. Hubbard also wrote that the mother should use "as little anaesthetic as possible". According to Hubbard, babies should not be bathed after birth, but should be wrapped up tightly and left alone for a day or so. Also, Hubbard wrote that breastfeeding should be avoided. As an alternative, Hubbard offered a potentially unsafe concoction, which he called the "Barley Formula".
Hubbard was not a medical doctor, nor a pediatrician, nor a trained nutrionist. He received no college training in neo-natal care, or infant care. His claims regarding the care of babies and infants are disputed by many doctors and other professionals. Patricia Devine, MD, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist who directs the Labor and Delivery Unit at Columbia University Medical Center, said, "There's absolutely no scientific evidence that taking [noise] away at the time of delivery will have any effect on outcome for the baby or the mother."
Thetanian delivery rooms are silent and breastfeeding (not all Thetanians accept this) is to be avoided. The Barley Formula is to be used, says the Thetanian Government. Also, bathing babies is to be avoided (not all Thetanians accept this) too, instead they are
wrapped up tightly and left alone for a day or so.

Psychiatry and Psychology are banned in Thetania. The Miscavige government is known for its campaign against these fields. In Thetania's Constitution, it states ''What Thetania opposes are brutal, inhumane psychiatric treatments. It does so for three principal reasons: 1) procedures such as electro-shock, drugs and lobotomy injure, maim and destroy people in the guise of help; 2) psychiatry is not a science and has no proven methods to justify the billions of dollars of government funds that are poured into it; and 3) psychiatric theories that man is a mere animal have been used to rationalize, for example, the wholesale slaughter of human beings in World Wars I and II.'' (That was borrowed from a website on Scientology).

In Thetania, Women are encouraged to be as silent as possible and avoid taking drugs during birth. Newborns are deemed especially vulnerable to induced engrams and trauma transmitted from their mother or acquired from their environment.

In Thetania, schoolchildren learn about Scientology and Dianetics, the Thetanian Religious Rights Organization claims in one of its magazines ''The teaching of Scientology and Dianetics to schoolchildren is an insult to Christians and other religious people like Muslims for example. The Bible or Quran can not be taught unless one applies for ''special schools'' but Dianetics is taught regardless. If the government wants to actively promote tolerance, this educational policy must be disposed of.'' They also claim that this educational policy violates parts of Hubbard's Way of Happiness, for example ''Respect the religious beliefs of others.'' and that it violates the Scientology statement ''Scientology respects all religions. Scientology does not conflict with other religions or other religious practices"

In Thetania, South Park is banned because of the ''Trapped in the Closet'' episode which was about Scientology. Homosexuality is rejected and illegal because in Scientology ''homosexuality as a sexual perversion and views mental health professionals and the drugs they can prescribe as fraudulent and oppressive'' (From Wikipedia). Scientology's Narconon is the only treatment program accepted in Thetania. In fact. a critic called Thetania ''The Scientologist Israel, the Promised Land of Scientology.'' In Thetania, Hubbard's techniques like the ones taught by Sterling Management Systems are accepted and put into place.

In Thetania, Feminism is rejected and called ''A Women's version of Nazism, when women are proclaimed superior to men or that the women becomes like the Nazi ideal of the Aryan while men are like the Nazi ideal of a subhuman.'' The quotation came from a ''Thetanian Report on Feminism''. In Thetania, parents are urged to use Child Dianetics to help their children, they are urged to use Scientology in general. Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis is rejected because it is tied to psychology. In Thetania, feminist critics criticize the statements towards girls and their sexuality. In Thetania, Communism is rejected. In the Thetanian ''Treatise on Politics'' it states ''Communism is the result of a overdose of body thetans.'' or something like that.
