Orezian Armed Forces

The Orezian Armed Forces were established in 1962 after Orezia turned from being a British colony to becoming a republic. With large quantities of old equipment, Orezia turned to the Soviet Union for arms. Now, those weapons are antiquated and being replaced as a part of a massive refurbishing and reorganization of the Armed Forces. This thread will serve as a continuously updated source of reference for Orezian military formations, bases, equipment, leaders and doctrine.

The main mission of the Armed Forces is to protect the territorial waters, airspace and ground of the Republic of Orezia, to maintain Orezian sovereignty in its territorial waters, and to defend and repeal any enemies which manages enter Orezian territory.

The Orezian Armed Forces consists of three branches.

Orezian Ground Force

The Orezian Ground Force is the force responsible for the land defense of Orezia. At present, the Ground Force is primarily made up of light infantry, with some armored support. The doctrine of the Orezian forces are to avoid at all costs a large and decisive battle, and to instead concentrate on guerilla warfare in the vast and dense jungles which covers most of Orezia. It is believed that giving the enemy small but sustained losses will result in the enemy finally giving in and surrendering. While this tactic has not been used in actual warfare, it has shown its worth in tests and simulations where the sustained losses against a virtually invisible enemy not only damages morale and fighting spirit among the enemy, but it also gives the guerillas the tactical advantage since they deny the enemy the choice of battlefield and thus deprives the enemy of the element of surprise.

Orezian Naval Force

The Orezian Naval Force is responsible for protecting the Orezian territorial waters and to maintain a presence in the regional waters. The tactics are adapted to the Orezian geography, with the bulk of the Naval Force made up of so-called "brown-water" combatants in form of corvettes, coastal patrol vessels and conventionally propelled submarines.

Orezian Air Force

The Orezian Air Force was established in 1960 along with the rest of the Orezian Armed Forces, and consisted of a number of old fighters from immediately after World War II. After the civil war which ravaged Orezia for twelve years, the once proud Orezian Air Force was left with fifty-odd barely operating fighting aircraft. This has been dealt with, and the former five squadrons have been disbanded and replaced with thirty-two new squadrons.

The squadrons are divided into five different types.
1st through 18th Squadron is equipped with Aequatian-made F-1A Thanatos (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=477805) multirole fighter jets, thus becoming multirole squadrons.
19th through 25th Squadrons are the interceptor squadrons of the Orezian Air Force, designed to intercept incoming aerial threats to Orezia and deal with them accordingly. They are equipped with F-2A Abaddon (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=477867) air superiority fighters, also Aequatian-made.
26th through 29th Squadrons are close air support squadrons, equipped with A-3A Dragonfly (A-37 Dragonfly) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8739943&postcount=10) ground attack aircraft. They too are made by Aequatio.
30th through 32nd Squadrons are the transport squadrons in the Orezian Air Force, and equipped with C-4A Hercules (C-130 Hercules) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8739948&postcount=12) tactical transport aircraft.
The 33rd 'Looking Glass' Squadron is the airborne early warning elements of the Orezian Air Force. Currently, it is equipped with six E-5A Watcher (A310 AEW) (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/e-310.htm) AWACS aircraft.
The 34th through 39th Squadrons are helicopter squadrons, and are equipped with H-6A Super Raven (MH-10D Super Raven) (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10828507&postcount=261) helicopters for among others search and rescue, tactical transport and light resupply duty.

In all, the Orezian Air Force has the following amount of aircraft.

Each squadron consists of pilots for the aircraft, between twelve and twenty ground maintenance crew for each aircraft, a medical group, an intelligence group, a command group and a security group. In total, the average squadron consists of between 255 and 400 personell. In addition, you have the personell manning the base (logistics).
