Project: Demon (Aequatian Sixth Generation Advanced Air Superiority Fighter)

While the F-1A Thanatos was designed as a multiorole strike fighter that could be used for long-range interception with the use of the AIM-154 Comet high-speed, beyond visual range missile, its large size and airframe does not allow for good performance with close-in dogfighting and was proven to be outmaneuvered by smaller aircraft. This lack of close-in ability gave rise to the requirement for a small, air superiority fighter which eventully became the F-2 Abaddon.

The F-2 is a single-seat, delta winged aircraft powered by a single, Aequatian-designed TF-V-300 Supercruise Vectoring Turbofan (maximum static power output of 122.78 kN (27,600 lbf)). The airframe possesses a large vertical tail, as well as canards placed near the cockpit. The air intake is rectangular in shape, and is located beneath the fuselage. Construction incorporates much use of composite materials such as Carbon-60, as well as more conventional metal alloys such as aluminium and titanium. A bubble canopy provides 360 degrees of visual coverage for the pilot.

A digital, quadruple-redundant fly-by-wire system aids the pilot in flying the aircraft. Information is provided visually to the pilot, in the form of three liquid crystal Multi-Functional Displays within the cockpit. HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) controls are incorporated in the F-2's design.

The radar equipping the F-2 is an AN/APG-320 Millimetre-band pulsed-Doppler radar and an AN/ANQ-20 Pathfinder Navigation Radar. A comprehensive Electronic countermeasures (ECM) package is present, including the AN/ALQ-220 Advanced Threat Infrared Countermeasures (ATIRCM), the AN/AAR-350 Common Missile Warning System (CMWS), the AN/ALQ-225 Suite of Integrated RF Countermeasures (SIRFC), the AN/ALE-50 Countermeasures Dispenser System [CMDS] and an AN/APX-80 IFF Interrogator.

Long time no see Aequatio. :) Very Interesting plane. A couple of comments:

1) Your MTOW is a bit low, up it to 24,375 kg.
2) You could probably get 2,000 km range out of this. Not entirely sure, but that's for you to decide.

Overall a very nice plane and a possible competitor to the SuF-8 Phoenix.

It has been a long time, it's too bad our XMBT-04 Project never got off the ground.

As for the weight, I'd rather not push the engine as the aircraft is meant more for air superiority with a limited strike capability. Although I may take your advice on the range, as it would need to keep up a little with my F-1A.

I've seen the thread for the SuF-8 and it would be interesting to have a competition or wargame. Something like RED FLAG perhaps?

Actually the XMBT-04 did get off the ground. We finished it up, remember? I have the write-up still if you want it, though, I thought I had given it to ya. I guess I didn't.

Nah, a higher MTOW is good meaning that the aircraft can support that much weight at maximum. Doesn't mean that during combat you will actually take it up at that weight. I agree, though, the range needs being upped.

Possibly, I'm a bit busy now but maybe in a week or two we could. That would be quite interesting. TG me with your ideas, though, I've never did a wargame RP so this should be interesting.

I still have parts of it, although I never adopted the tank and passed it over for one of my own designs.
