Commonalitarianism

Elections are coming up in the Commonalitarianism. There are two main candidates.

There are two main party candidates that are currently leading:

Green Oceans Party
Amara Cruon—Currently Trade Minister—Views
Introduce embassies, invite other countries into our protective region, less military spending on WMDs, more spending on troops, expand the space program, move to a RICH economy (Robert Anton Wilson), natural capitalism— the economy should be based on extensive exploitatation of renewable resources, expand sonofusion program, turn Commonalitarianism into a world power through aggressive expansionistic trade, turn prisons into rehabilitation centers.

Blue Seas Party
Myles Ming Brown— Current Commonarch
Believes embassies are a source of spies, strong on death penalty, supports hard labor, believes in absolute protection of privacy, individual rights, and freedom if you haven’t broken the law. Prepared to take aggressive action in support of freedom. Stewardship philosophy on environmentalism, build WMDs to keep our enemies away, supports current worker capitalist state, use current renewables not sonofusion, limit trade and introduce high tariffs to protect workers jobs.

Amara Cruon pulls very far ahead of Myles Ming Brown. Myles Ming Brown claims that there must be vote fixing. We must allow foreign powers to observe the voting process. He is inviting delegates to observe the voting process. Two people from a foreign country can come and check the voting results.

Gwazzaria would be glad to send its two remaining experts in the democratic system to work as impartial observers. They don't really have much to do in our country, after all.

We gladly accept your election watchers,

Myles Ming Brown

Secret: Myles attempts to bribe your election watchers to vote for him.

OOC: Wow. I'm the only voter for Myles?

I'll join you.

Natural capitalism leads to Standard Oil, among other corruptions.

This outweighs some of the other shortcomings.

Natural Capitalism is a relatively new idea. It is using natural resources more effectively to produce products. Here is a link from a recent Harvard Business Review article. It is a bit different than what you may think. But, it would lead to massive eco-companies that controlled biorefineries, genetically engineered farms and other things. It would have better environmental effects, but would concentrate power over these resources into the first generation that started it. http://www.natcap.org/images/other/HBR-RMINatCap.pdf

Amara Cruon promises to build a Stanford Torus colony in high earth orbit, wipe out the welfare system and replace it with a guaranteed annual income coming from the Ministry of Taxes (theoretically this would be cheaper than maintaining welfare), issue shares in the government for citizens with a dividend to insure increased output of citizens, establish an International Barter and Currency Exchange, reward people for coming up with new ideas to increase cybernization of the workforce and improve ecotechnology, expand the Ecotechnic Institute, reinvest in reeducation for the displaced workers from the elimination of the Ministry of Welfare and other organizations, and create high tech research centers for new technologies to create more jobs in space and under the ocean. In other words rewrite the economy of the Commonalitarianism along RICH and Ecotopian economy lines.

Myles Ming Brown promises to keep out foreign terrorists, crack down on crime, get rid of unruly immigrants, put tariffs in place against foreign companies, eliminate spies from foreign powers, increase spending on foreign espionage, create a privacy and freedom bill of rights, keep the death penalty, insure worker rights, make hard labor mandatory, build nuclear weapons to get rid of those pesky nuclear submarines in our waters, fund privateers to attack countries that do not support democracy, and keep our economy unchanged.

Note: A lot of what I am doing with this nation is very difficult quandry systems that may solve a lot of problems, but be very hard to implement. The natural capitalism idea would add another layer to the concept of environmental stewardship which is already in place. Myles Ming Brown would not add the extra layer because it looks exploitative.

It does seem like a rather beneficial system, but implementing it on a national scale, reality or not, could be a difficult problem. Basing an entire nation around a single green scheme could prove problematic. No one has yet been able to build a perpetual motion device.

It would work, in my opinion, best if used as a secondary system: a guide for economic production. Making it the golden rule of every production system, if that is indeed the plan, seems that the government is overstepping its bounds.

Plus, it's nothing really new. Lumberyards sell not only planks and beams, but bark for garden mulch, chips and sawdust for paper, as well as bedding for horses. Maximizing profit.

Amara Cruon wins by a huge margin. She will definitely keep her promises. The first thing she is going to do is start opening embassies with foreign powers. She has put a huge amount of money into a freedom ship Mark 3 and names it Embassy city.
