The Collective returns (Open FT)

BLACKGRUE

It had been several years now, the Borg Collective of BLACKGRUE was now nothing more then a memory. An annel of history in some of the older powers of the galaxy. Nobody was really sure what had happened to it... Thier space ripe with scavengers and even settlers in the years since thier dissapearence. Even their most vaunted technology, the Stabalised Omega Molocule generator was forgotten for the most part... considered "Too Dangerous" for general use.

In orbit around the so-called "Homeworld" of this derivitive collective, deep within their space. A rift formed... small at first, but it expanded encompassing that homeworld and many of the stars around it before dissapating. As it vanished, Borg ships, civillians, and stations were as they were all those years ago.

The collective whirred to life once more, smaller then it was, but intact. "Temporal discrepency detected... Cause: Experimental temporal propulsion drive. Analysis: Drive reacted to Borg omega molocule generators. Causing a rapid forward shift in the temporal placement of all Borg equipment and drones. Temporal re-placement of Borg equipment and drones interrupted by spatial activity. Borg space is being colonized by outside species. Analysis: technology has progressed since last activity. Course of action: Negotiate."

With that lengthy but universal statement, the Borg Collective of BLACKGRUE sent out a wide-scale communications signal to all ships, and installations in the area requesting their presence at Friendship-1, the station near Gamma-Upsilon that luckily still existed.

The Borg Collective of BLACKGRUE sent a few Diamond class science-vessels to Friendship-1 to wait for those ships that responded.

A small vessel that had heard the message flickered into the system and sent back a return message:

What forms of guarantee is there of safety? You didn't after all have that much of a savory reputation.

"What forms of guarantee is there of safety? You didn't after all have that much of a savory reputation."

The borg pondered this and replied.

"Your technology has obviously advanced in our absence, we no longer have the means to carry out tactics like assimilation wars, or wide-scale conflicts. Despite this, we are only sending 2 Diamond-class science-vessels to Friendship-1. And the station itself has no armerment."

Fair enough, though any treachery shall be expensive and profitless.

The craft's engine fired and it travelled to the station, to meet the 'reformed' BlackGrue Borg.

A message hit a Slipspace Cruiser, The Zealot. The Zealot was about 3 miles long, reletively small compared to some of the larger G&E ships. The Zealot dropped out of slipspace and began to make short jumps from where the message came from. When they found the place where the message originated from, they sent a message.

G&E SSC Zealot To the Borg Collective of BLACKGRUE

While we would gladly initiate negotiations now, there is no Officer high enough on this ship to negotiate. There we will call the G&E Dreadnought Paladine.

A lone vessel was traveling through T-Space, scanning the borders of the Empire for anything that seemed out of place. The Infiltrator Cruiser had all its Tri-S vessels extended, forming a very accurate array of linked sensors several kilometers in radius. The actual range of the cruiser and the sensor ships was unknown outside a select group of individuals.

Captain, we have received a signal, a transmission.

Show me.

The message was relayed to the captain.

Take The Inquisitor to this Friendship 1. We will see what they are doing in Imperial Space.

The Borg diamonds arrived at Friendship-1 and wordlessly beamed their representatives over. In true BLACKGRUE fashion, they sent 3 queens to represent themselves, escorted by only 2 drones. They stood at the meeting room awaiting the other delagates.

The ship that had been so inquisitive docked with the station and disgorged two passengers, one human, the other appearing human. Side by side they went to meet the Borg.

Sir, we have arrived. The Friendship 1 complex has several vessels around it. So far we read a Theao vessel, three Blackgrue vessels, and an unknown. Sir, I am picking up massive W-Axis fluctuations from the three vessels as well as the station.

What? Don’t they know there are people just looking for a reason to go after temporal tech?

Apparently something happened that painted everything with these fluctuations. There are so many of them there’s no way to mask it. The readings are almost in the danger range.

This whole area would be in danger of temporal fluctuations. Be sure to keep the ship fully shielded at all times. If the right catalyst were to happen along, the results would be disastrous.

Yes Sir. Time dilation, temporal fissures, catastrophic ruptures… We should leave them to their folly.

You forgot about those innocent vessels down there and the ones that haven’t arrived yet. We have to at least attempt to warn them.

I understand.

Take us to Real Space after the Triple-S vessels are recalled.

A short time later The Inquisition, an Infiltrator cruiser, Emerged into Real Space near the Friendship 1 station.

A message was sent:

This is Captain Ger’Fehn of the Imperial Cruiser, The Inquisition. We received your broadcast and we would like to talk to someone in charge.

The borg sent their reply "We are Borg. The lowliest repair drone is just as capable of discussing matters of importaince as the most intelligent queen."

Before the ship could reply, they sent another messege "A delegation is forming. Please dock your ship."

I.D.S. (Imperial Deatharon Ship) Exterminator

The Imperial Battleship Exterminator was on a long-range reconnaissance mission looking for worlds of useful resources or primitive civilizations that could be easily exploitable. The Borg message was received and the fear of the once terrible enemy came to life. The great time of peace would now be shattered, as the Grand Shadow Empire would have to prepare for Borg incursions. The captain of the Exterminator sent the message back to Deatharon Prime for the Grand Shadow Emperor himself to receive the now ominous message.

The Imperial Shadow Warlord and the Imperial Strategic Command sent their reply in the form of the Captain of the Exterminator to use what he seemed fit in forming a temporary diplomatic communication with the Borg.

The Captain of the Exterminator Count Xavier Gresham upon being given orders from Imperial Strategic Command to begin communication with the Borg opened a long range-hailing channel…

... What benefit is it to the Empire to begin negotiations? The Borg can not be reasoned with they seek only to assimilate all life into their collective. They have no respect for the individual and they are a threat to the purity of the Grand Shadow Empire of Deatharon. So we send this in reply why should we deal with you when you have threatened us with assimilation in the past? ....

The collective replied simply "Our greatest strength is our alliances, not our technology or our numbers. It has been far too long, and most of our former alliances have dispersed. Therefore, to better and more efficiently assimilate hostile life in this galaxy, we need to forge new alliances."

The two that had already boarded the station had made thier way to the primary meeting room, by the expidient of accessing the station's memory banks.

Arriving at the door, the female of the two knocked upon the hatch door, to give the Borg some warning.

Space cracked open, and on many energy scales would show huge amounts of power coming through the crack. A ship (http://www.battle.net/images/broodwar/pix/wall/terr3prev.jpg), the Paladine, came throught the crack. The Paladine was substantially larger than the Zealot, which explained the amount of energy. G&E ships use a combination of Protoss Warp technology, and Covnatian Slipspace technology. While this system is faster than either tech alone, it generates far more excess energy.

OOC: I got to go. I'll finish the post later.

A shuttle detached from the back of the cruiser and approached the station. After obtaining landing clearances, it proceeded into the docking bay of the Friendship 1 station.

The shuttle came to a halt, hovering three inches from the deck. A door melted into the side of the craft and three steps formed, each hovering independently. An individual appeared in the doorway and stepped down onto the deck.

The gentleman looked about, waiting for the delegation to approach him.

Jacob Keyeshad been reading up about the Borg Collective. Appearently, they had conquered many worlds, but one day, dissapeared completely. Jacob said to his aid "Get just in range so that it looks friendly, but far enough away so that it won't be hard to jump to warp space. Also, keep the engines charged." the aid nodded and walked away. Jacob put on full battle gear (except the helmet) and walked down to a diplomatic ship. The craft fired off into space, coming toward the Friendship 1 complex. Just 3 miles away, the Diplomatic caft came to a full halt within one second. the pilot sent out a message.

DV Helios To BLACKGRUE Collective

"Borg? Negotiating? heh ignore this Commodore, please open your field manual ad recite to me section 2, paragraph 4, concerning the borg..." Field Marshall Seville said after reading the transmission.

"Under penalty of death, all borg vessels will be evaded or destroyed with extreme prejudice, failure to do so will result in loss of rank and torture, physical contact with borg drones will result in a nano purge execution and disintergration of the body, ships infected with borg nano probes will be sent into the nearest sun. All military personell and civillians are required to be vaccinated with type 3045 nano solution which will cause brain death upon infection with borg nano probes. Front line personell will be given nano injection 8063 in additon. As of 12/03/2504 communication with borg vessels is prohibited to ensure secured transmission frequencies are not decrypted. All borg units are now and always will be considered level one hostiles."

"Thank you, Commodore, now on to more important matters, what's for dinner?"
