In the bowels of the governing house of Kerak, the recently created world government of the planet by that name, The Patriarch is being breifed. His councilmen and women sit around him muttering to eachother as General Albright presents his information

Albright mops his sweaty brow, and begins presenting the really dire news.

"... and Mr. Patriarch, it seems something entered our solar system at about two o' clock this morning. I think you should see these..."

Albright passes the Patriarch several photos, most of which look rather fuzzy and distroted, however, a clear series of bright spots with massive blots of darknesss between them are clearly aparent.

The Patriarch looks at the pictures astounded, then looks up, passing them to his first seceratary.

"Are these what I think they are?"

Albright looks a little nurvous, sweat pouring down his chubby brow.

"Sir, our best military scientists have confirmed they are not asteriods or some other phenomenon, the most likley explanation is beleive what you are thinking."

Albright passes him another photo.

"This was taken at eight o' clock and handed to me before the meeting started."

This photo has a pucture of a much clearer, much much larger blotch, surrounded by many smaller ones, all with many points of light dotting their bodies. a Color scheme is plainly visible, Dark green and a grey-black finish can be seen covering every inch of the huge objects.

"Sir, the objects have already crossed almost the entirety of our solar system, and will probably be visible from the surface of the planet by 6 tonight."

the patriarch does a double take

"Visible from the Planet? and just how big are these things?"

Albright is looking paler and more sickly every moment he stands here.

"Sir, the largest, the one in the back, is estimated to be about 21 killometers wide. the other smaller ones are thought to be a little over 1.5 kilometers in length. There are also numerous smaller objects, ranging from 700 meters to about 20 meters."

Albright swallows deeply

"We count over 200 large contacts, and over a million smaller ones."

The patriarch looks stunned

"Good god. Its a Fleet. We need to inform the people, we can't have space-aliens showing up without it looking like we knew about it."

The Patriarch stands, looking to his staff.

"We need to get on this right away, get Jeremy righting a speach, and get a camea crew in here quick!"

In the closing vastness of space, the massive fleet moves with indomitable intent, the silence of space disguising the sound of the incineratingly powerful engines pushing the gargantuine ships toward their doomed destination.

Deep in space, behind billions of tons of armor, equipment, and weapons, a single man sits at the comanders chair in the Will of Aegeus. A smirk is fixed on his blue lips, his gleaming teeth reflecting the diffused low green light of the comand deck.

"Send down a contact probe."

The ops station replies, a gutteral grinding hissing language filtering through behind the digitized translation.

"Yes Sir."

Outside the ship, a small probe silently fires from it's port, and streaks toward the planet.

Albright Nods to the Patriarch. This small probe, only ten feet in length, had come streaking out of nowhere, and begun to hover over a building in Gereth, one of the central cities of the eastern continent.

The patriarch, having failed at voice communication, signals to his comunication specialists, who begin attempting to cummunicate their intent to this odd device through light and sound paterns.

The technicians begin playing tones and chords, trying to establish a basic platform to develop a working language. The probe begins to respond back, making its own tones, and alternating flashed around it's perimeter.

After several hours of effort it seems that the linguistic efforts are indeed getting somewhere. The probe seems to be sending a unintelligible message to the populus.

As the patriarch watches, a screen sudenly zips from the top of the pobe, which begins to beep wildly. The screen flashes and image, and then sudenly reads, in perfectly intelligible language

"Gotcha!"

People from all over the continent will always remember the day that the sky lit up with green fire, it looked as if a small green star had suddenly crashed into the planet, the sky burning it's erie color in the night. The green light wanes.

The ruins of the city lie in a massive heap of incinerated cosntruction, molten metal, obliterated bodies, and the ashen fragments of the hope of a world.

--------------

On the Will of Aegeus, the blue man cracks a wicked smile, his eyes hidden by the half-light.

"Kil'Thu. Begin your invasion. It is time to teach the universe whom it should never forget"

--------------

Across half of the universe, news networks and holo comuncations are disrupted by spliced signals and feeds comming from limpits and programs that have infeltrated the networks for more than a century. Backups are crushed by the signal, and then their backups are as well.

people watch in awe as the great invasion begins. It will be remembered as a slaughter, a decicive show of force, a massacre, and the return of The Nomadic Empire.

The game is begining. The blue-skinned comander presses several buttons a barks a few comands to his bridge crew, who send signals out to the entire fleet.

------------

On the surface of Kerak, people look up in awe as a massive black and green ship slowly comes into view, orbiting the planet at a deep orbit. the machine is monstrous in the sky, bigger than the moon on most days. around the huge ship, many smaller specks of light and darkness move about quickly, growing larger with frightening velocity.

Mystral City, one of the great cities of Kerak glows as it always does even through the bright daylight. People go about their buisness, ignoring the events of liast night, completly unaware that noone is running their planet.

There is an incredible wooshing, and loud droning of power as cars drive by, and people walk about, completing their menial tasks, only hoping to earn a living on their tmeperate and mineral-rich planet.

Suddenly, hundreds of far off sonic booms can be heard comming from the sky. Peple crane their necks, staring into the bright blue sky, and seeing the mass of ships there, some now breaking through the atmosphere.

some scream and flee, some profess the comming apocolypse, some try to find shelter in the arms of those they love, some just stand, watching awestruck as these constructs of aliens decend from the sky.

------------

The mighty yygdrasil walkers begin to drop from their racks in the hangers of the Ermac Cruisers, dropping like stones and engaging their massive engines.

The Ermacs, flying at a much lower orbit, apear gargantuine in the sky, their turrets awakened and ready.

Slip fighters deploy, their hyper-sonic screams blasting across the sky as they prepare for the assault, diving steeply towards the city.

Vagabond cruisers begin dropping their loads of landing-craft and fighters, spreading them across the sky.

The massive Will of Aegeus sits in deep orbit, launching thousands of fighters, and transports. Deep within the incredible ship, a single man sits at his chair, a smirk across his face, death across his mind, and the knowledge that the whole universe is watching.

Deep within a military instilation in the mountains, a Kerakian gets a bright idea. He sets the long ranged super-comm antena to broad-band broadcasting, and begins to transmit a message.

"If there is anyone out there, this is the planet of Kerak is under attack by an unknown agressor, if there is anyone out there, send help, before they kill us all!"

Poocher was about done with the comm system, as he'd been told the research transport Joorian had been freshly outfitted with a new electronic stealth system, as well as better listening beams. It was time to go. Just as he was removing the headset, he heard a crackling voice over the comm system come in. Quickly he put it back on, and replayed the message.

"Kerak? Never heard of it."

"What's that Poocher? I just told you we're ready to fly," Captain Jones repeated.

Poocher turns around, "Sir, I just got a message in from a place called Kerak. Apparently they're under attack."

"That's nice. And what are we supposed to do about that? We're still waiting to hear back from the PM to see if we've been given weapons from Taledon."

"Well, you said the new stealth is up, right?"

Jones grimmaced. "Listen Pooch, our last test of the stealth system was a bust. Anyone who looks outside their windows can see us."

"Maybe this aggressor doesn't have windows."

"And maybe they'll see through our stealth technologies."

Poocher frowned. "Listen, the Joorian is a massive transport. We might be able to sneak in, rescue the survivors, and get back out without the aggressors even knowing we're there."

"Our last test was in friendly territory, Poocher. You know that. No one is going to let us go on some damned fool idealistic crusade for a test run."

Poocher smiled, "Then let's just go. I can fudge the records of our flight..."

"Not right now, Pooch," replied Jones steadily losing his patience. "Let's run some tests. Then we might check up on your mercy mission."

For the crew of SV-068, Columbus, today was begining to look like a failure. They had visited two star systems since yesterday, and found nothing useful in any of them. No habitable planets, no abundant resources, no life, nothing. Aside from the old, oversized stars, the only things in the system were scorched rings of debris where planets used to reside and a few unremarkable gas giants.

As the 750m science vessel dropped out of hyperspace into the outskirts of this new system, most of Columbus's crew didn't expect much.

"Commander, our long range sensors are picking up signs of life. One of the planets looks to be habitable, and I'm reading several powerful energy signatures in orbit."

"Keep monitoring the planet with passive sensors. We don't need to give away our presense just yet.

And so Columbus slowly traveled through space, lazily heading towards the system's star as it quietly gathered data. The ship sailed this way for several hours before the distress call was heard. In that time, shifts had changed and the ship's captain was on the bridge, her XO retiring to his quarters for some well deserved rest.

"Captain, we seem to have intercepted a distress signal from the supposedly inhabitable planet."

"I see. Launch a probe to investigate. Helm, hide us behind that gas giant."

With a small white cloud of compressed air, the probe shot from one of the ship's torpedo tubes, using it's onboard engines to accelerate towards the planet. As soon as the probe was too far to be seen with the naked eye, Columbus moved to hide behind the nearby gas giant, the light that glinted off of its dark blue hull giving way to the shadows as the system's star was blocked by the planet. While the probe made its way towards the battle, Columbus would wait.

In high orbit, the massive Will of Aegeus detects an intruder into the system. And FTL signature blips across her tracking screens, and then vanishes. The ship is not unwanted, but if they interfered, the plan could get messy.

The smiling comander laughs slightly as this all crosses across his mind. How really could anyone throw a wrench in his plans? This world would fall, and be turned into raw rescources, whith the whole galaxy watching, everyone would remember Aegeus as the mighty power it truly is.

"Let them come. There is nothing they can do to stop us, and my plan WILL succede. We are Aegeus, the wandering empire, Nothing can stand in our way."

The man laughs slightly meniacaly, obviously disturbing his deck crew, judging by their telling glances at eachother.

For several hours the probe monitored the unfolding situation, beaming the gathered data back to Columbus. When Captain Varra Dummik decided that enough time had been spent watching, she ordered the Columbus to the viscinity of the planet that was under attack.
