Background: Italy has just recently become a unified nation riding a wave of nationalism centered around the Industrious North. With French support the Hapsburgs were pushed out of northern Italy but France dropped out early, taking Savoy and Nice from Italy, and leaving Rome free. It wasn't untill 1870 that Rome was finally unified with the rest of Italy and the capital moved from Torino to Rome. The now unified Italy is now one the the major powers in Europe, but its international influence is cut short by the poverty and illiteracy of the south. The richer north is riding its second industrial revolution this century and is one of the most industrialized area's in the world, with cities like Milan, Turin and Genoa rapidly increasing their output.

Pushed on by businessmen and traders who are owed large amounts of money, Victor Emmanuel is calling for Tunisia to become an Italian protectorate untill such time that it's economy is stable enough to pay off the debts it owes Italy. An Italian fleet led by two Roma class battleships is setting out for Tunis carring a small contigent of soldiers to get control over Italies protectorate.
(Tunisia gained "Official" independence from the Porte in 1871 although it acted independently for decades before. Tunisia was historiccaly in loads of debt to European nations since the 60's so I'm collecting on my debts.)

Algeria and Tunisia are, counting from this very moment, considered as French protectorates. We have been planning this move for years, and are now executing the plan.
Italian troops currently in Tunisia are requested to stick with protecting the Italian citizens and property, to avoid any unnecessary disputes.

IC:
French troops are asked to stop in place while things can possibly be resolved at home.

Ok people, i'm seeing a lot of the Latter and very little of the former of my title. Do you all seriously want to go to war RIGHT now? I mean children come on, i know this country is your new toy and you want to play with it, but why break it now? Your allowed to play with it, even encourgaged, but ramming it into another toy is not advisable right away.
Italy, You unified only a couple of years ago(well mostly there are few stray city states) your actually in decent condition to fight but why?
And France, you just got your ass ROYALLY kicked by the Prussians less than a year ago. Are you in that sort of rush to lose two wars in two years? It could happen, especially if britain gets involved.
BTW this is in no way a moderator ruling, so this is not binding. I'm just venting.

OOC: Well if you've noticed, I'm actually trying to avoid war, I've asked France to stop and negotiate in every one of my posts regarding Tunisia, and said in most my willingness to abandon Tunisia if he would stop and negotiate. War right now is not what I'm planning for, but I won't back down from one if I'm pushed to it.
