Radiant Bastion

The dressing room of President Roxas was relatively simple. It had a chair, a mirror and the other side of the room was full of suits and other items related to appearance. His black hair was combed as it always was and his goatee was neat as well. He wore a white shirt and pants with a red half-cape; the colors of Radiant Bastion.
For Radiant Bastion this was going to be a big day and the day that would make or break President Roxas’s career for the nation had long been in semi-isolation, trading only when necessary and basically staying out of international affairs. As of today… that would end. He grabbed his speech, stood, walked over to the door and opened it and began to walk to the room where he would make the speech. He was flanked by two Presidential Guards adorned in red and black ceremonial armor.
Within a few moments he had arrived at the Presidential Palace’s Press room. Flashes of cameras blinded him for a few seconds but he quickly recovered and walked to the podium. The flag of Radiant Bastion stood to either side of him and the flashes of light blinded him again, though you couldn’t tell. Seeing spots the sign was issued for flash photography to stop and President Roxas gave his speech,
”My fellow people, today is a day that will go down in our fair history as a landmark. Today we will leave the realm of isolation and journey forth into the world of international politics. Some of you may be wondering why? Why would we do such a thing? Why leave our peaceful life and enter a chaotic one? Simple, because we won’t be able to be peaceful forever that is why.
We must not wait for the trouble to come to us; we must go to the trouble and fix it where we can. The best defense is an offense in my opinion and we must go on the offensive if we are to protect ourselves.
Now don’t think we will be attacking nations we ‘see’ as a threat, far from it. No, we will only use our military as a last resort rather relying on our diplomatic ability. I live by the saying, ‘If war is your only option, then you haven’t looked hard enough.’ Plus I hardly doubt the Congress of Radiant Bastion would like that idea of warfare too much.”
That provoked a small chuckle from the press and Roxas cleared his throat and began to speak again,
”Do not be scared of facing the unknown, we will face it together! We must stand behind each other on this position, provide a united front and make a lasting first impression on the world as we enter its stage.
However I am not naïve, I know the troubles that will come with our entrance into the world formally. I know corruption will find its way in, I know our economy might suffer I know for a fact war will come. But you see as long as there is man there will be war. Our job… is to stop it. We cannot achieve that on our own, we must seek the assistance of the International Community.
So let us leave our shell and experience what it is like, to live in a world that is not traditional but far from it. I ask you to come on this journey with me and have faith that I will lead us to a greater prosperity then we ever experienced before. I ask that now people of Radiant Bastion, thank you and good night.”
OOC: This is also going to turn into an embassy exchange thread but I thought I should introduce myself to the world.
