Well, it's pretty normal to want to win a war. But not via "MY NATION N00KS U!!!" means.

Winning shouldn't be the first priority - telling a good story should. I think that's DH/HD's point...

Asbena is way too weak to even put up much of a fight for a few NS years....pykrete is slow to research and I am designing everything from scratch again.

I think telling a good story is the priority for a lot of people. No one seems incredibly determined to win in The Fall of America, for example.

It is not like winning or losing the war has a major impact upon your nation. The description doesn't change (yet, the fabled NS2 might change that), the whole thing is more of a Storytellers approach.
BTW- HD, I am also TDD.

Hehe...when you get to be here as long as I have you know who goes way way out of their way to win. A few people start to sling nukes when they lose or resort to massive SDs to do anything by brute force. Just unrealistic to do so.

Nukes are pointless. SDs, whilst a tad overpowered, are a completly acceptable style of warfare; they're big, but they have their weaknesses, as well as their costs.

I'll stick to my Pykrete Carriers. :P I can run them over anyways with the massive carriers that dwarf the stupid SDs. Nicest thing....about 1/100th the price before arming it.
