Queen Tiffany IV sat quietly on her throne over looking the marble floor checkered in purple and pink. In front of her was a monitor on a golden trolley below that a DVD players a gift from industrialist wishing to do business with her people. Today however Tiffany was dealing with a more serious problem.

“Please play it again.” she commanded in a soft tone, the weak crack in her voice let the others know that she had been recently crying.

“As you wish my queen.” Replied her mousey hand maiden. She skittered from the far side of the throne room to get in range of the remote control. She pressed the proper button and watched the screen quietly.

The screen at first was a solid bright blue a moment later the white color word of “play” was in the right hand corner. Then a shift to the title screen. ‘The Suffering of Dorothy Terwilliger: A plea to our Queen.’ Tiffany had seen this a few times now and the creative title had wounded her loving heart. The next clip was a beautiful, vibrant woman who had once served as captain of the country’s volleyball team. The next was the same woman who had been ravaged by end stage cancer and reduced to a dying shell.

Tiffany swallowed hard. She didn’t pay attention to the narration and the soft, sympathetic music playing in the background. She wished she could advert her eyes and ignore the issue at hand but she couldn’t. Ms. Terwilliger who had brought joy to the people of Pretty Princess Land wished to end her life.

There were no current laws on the books, and the next Parliament slumber party wasn’t happened for another week. Tiffany did have the right to step in and handle this situation personally allow Ms. Terwilliger to go peacefully with dignity as she wanted. There were a lot of things to weigh on this issue but the Queen didn’t want her people to suffer.

“Stop the image, I can not look at it anymore.” The Queen commanded as she put her silk hanky to her puffy eyes. “I look a mess, cancel my meetings for the day, this issue requires my attention.” She continued.

“As you wish miss.” The handmaiden stopped the DVD player and nodded to two other servants to push the monitor away from the throne room. “May I ask what the Queen plans to do on this issue?”

Tiffany stood from her throne and started to walk to the long hall. “Parliament does not meet for a week and I do not wish to call a special session on such a short notice.” She started. “What are the papers saying about this issue?”

The handmaiden followed her quickly. “Naki McAplin’s editorial called for curing diseases instead of killing the suffering.”

Tiffany smiled. “Naki and I have never seen eye to eye on medical issues anyway. This is from the same medical editor who wished Queen Bethany would sent our mentally and physically challenged citizens to farms away from our society. I do not have much faith her words.”

The handmaiden nodded as they walked to the Queen’s Parlor. “The Religious Right of course is calling this the work for God. Say it is not our right to question God’s divine purpose.”

The Queen took a seat on her couch, kicked her aching feet up and leaned back against the arm. “Our Citizen’s have many rights, and they should have the right to leave this world if they choose. I think I’ve made a decision contact the Press Secretary.”

“I believe she is in Vanity for the day miss. Taking care of that voluntary voting issue Parliament discussed recently.”

“Contact her any way this is more import.”

“Yes miss, and your decision.”

“We will let our people decided how they wished to leave. I will legalize euthanasia.”

Hugo Jackson- I’m Hugo Jackson and this is your RIN News report. Our top story today. In a controversial move, Queen Tiffany IV of Pretty Princess Land has by passed the Parliament and legalized euthanasia. Press Secretary Rebecca Miller stated in a press conference held minute ago.

Rebecca Miller- Queen Tiffany IV has decided to use her right to bypass Parliament and make the “Dying with Dignity” bill national law! This new law will give the rights to our citizens who are terminal with no hope of recovery an option to allow doctors to end their lives. There is also written into this law a prevision for this order to placed in your Living Wills as well.

Hugo Jackson- This has bill also known as “Dorothy’s Bill” has been in discussion for some weeks. The bill is named for former volley ball champion Dorothy Terwilliger who developed breast cancer that has spread through out her body. Her Doctors say there are little to no hope for recovery.

Sandra Terwilliger- My sister has been suffering with this for three years now. The last year she has been able to move, we have to keep her sedated or the pain is too unbearable. This is not a way to live, our family has accepted this, she is ready to go. We are ready to let her.

Reverend Grant Hardy- A cloud has fallen over Pretty Princess Land. This will anger our God, for he is the one who chooses when we leave this land not us. This is not our decision we all have a purpose. I pray for the Queen and her fool hardy decision. I pray our country survives God’s wrath.

Hugo Jackson- Article 14 of the Pink Constitution allows a royal to enact a law when parliament is not in session after the law has been deadlocked in debate. Dorothy Bill was going for it’s fifth and final discussion at parliament next week. And in other news…
