The Empire Of Syria

Imperial Syria

This is my first RPG. I am going to be a PT or Past Tech nation. I hope that people who read this can help me out. Only constructive criticism please as I am just a rookie at this. In this RPG, I want other Past Tech nations to open diplomacy with my Syrian Empire. This is open to all Past Tech nations but Non Past Tech nations can offer help on how to make this better and what not.

Damascus, Syria:

The Great Court Of Ministers resided in the Citadel of Damascus. They were the ministers of the Emperor who assisted him or her in ruling the land. The Syrian Empire covered many lands, from Syria and Israel to Anatolia. Egypt and Jerusalem were under the Syrian banner. The Emperor wrote a decree to surrounding nations:

''Peace be to you, neighbours of Syria. I, the Syrian Emperor write to you this letter. I ask you to be an ally of our nation or at least a compatriot or friend. We are an emerging nation with a bustling city of Damascus as our capital. We hope that you will consider this as we are looking for connections in these lands. May peace and prosperity be with your nations.''

The Emperor had men on horses send these letters to the surrounding nations, hoping for a favourable response.

Damascus was a bustling capital, filled with many people. It had many marketplaces, selling many goods such as spices, myrrh, and frankencense. Many traders from other lands came to Damascus to show and sell their goods and barter with other traders. Many traders hoped their businesses would be profitable.

Many lands like Arabia, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, and others were under Syrian control. Plans to expand were being considered however by the Imperial authorities.

The Syrians were planning campaigns of expansion. They were planning to seize the city of Mecca and most of Arabia, along with other lands. Armies had been prepared for use in these expansionary campaigns and were ready and waiting to march for their Syrian Empire. Traders were not told of these plans, so they continued to trade, not knowing that their trading could be stopped by the swords and shields of soldiers.

Ali Al Rashid was a Arab general in the Syrian military. He was placed in charge of the attack on Arabia. He was about 6'3 with one eye missing (he lost it in a battle) and looked well built. Ali was at the border of Arabia with about 300,000 or more of his troops. ''General Al Rashid, our troops are ready, all we need is your command and the command of the Emperor.'' a assistant said. ''Excellent.'' he said, tapping his fingers together. ''Soon, we shall see Arabia under our control.'' Ali said.

Ali waited for the Emperor's command, waiting to come back on to the military stage.

Can some one join in or something? My nation is looking for allies, etc and it would be good to RP with other nations.

Through the desert the people came, wrapped in scarfs to cover their mouths, "is this the place?" One asked, the others looking around at the small border village "The Prophets last words were that Luni told him to head East until no further could you travel." Another responded whilst the villagers looked about and smiled, "settup camp here and wait for the rest to arrive, if anyone comes try to make small talk, translate." The travellers were weary from the long hike and sat down outside the village, the rested thier heads for a short while.

A group of Syrian horsemen were patrolling the area, where they saw the Toopian people. The leader of the group, a man named Khalid, ordered the horsemen to go to them. When they got to the group of people, Khalid said ''In the name of Syria, what brings you people to the lands of Syrian Persia?'' Khalid dismounted his horse, an Arabian steed, and said ''I am Khalid, the leader of this group of horsemen. Peace be to you. Tell me and my horsemen, who you are and why you are here.''

The travellers looked up and squinted, they were confused by the dialect but managed to pick up some words from another dialect they had encountered a short while back on the mountains, "ummmm, I am Kroschov, we travel here from far off lands seeking a new home." The translator prayed that he had not said the wrong thing.

Khalid conversed with his men and then said to the Toopian settlers. ''We have discussed your situation. We would like to know where you are heading, perhaps we could escort you to your destination.'' Khalid offered some food and water to the people, they must have been hungry and thirsty.

The Explorers looked up at the food with glee, they quickly took the opportunity to score some real food, living off the scraps that maggots wouldn't touch for the past few months the food was nearly a feast, and the water was greatly needed in this extreme heat which they had not been used to in the lands of Luni (Russia) "There are more on the way, we have been instructed by our god to settle these lands." One of the men said imbetween chewing.

Khalid said ''You say you have been sent by your god to this land. What land did your god tell you to settle?'' The horsemen and Khalid helped the explorers, feeding them and aiding them with medical care. ''My friends, we could escort you to your destination.'' said Khalid.

"Well he wasn't very specific, only that it resided in the West, and this is the Western point of the world, we can only assume that he meant here."

''This is Persia, in case you did not know.'' Khalid said. ''How far west do you want to go?'' Khalid asked, hoping to know these peoples better.

Amongst the many diplomatic/trading missions sent out in recent times from Incognitia, one of which was now in Tadjikistan, one in Ostia, and one, it was thought, in distant Caladonn, there was one following the Ostian mission, only more slowly.
(OOC: I don't know which coast to head for; I'm assuming the Mediterranean coast, if I'm wrong please tell me and I'll edit.)
This mission, three vessels of the India Company, were all large fast merchantmen, heavily armed for what were not warships. They had made their way through the Straight and turned North; for some time they had seen signs of greater civilisation, including more merchant shipping. They were now approaching a major port. They would come in to dock; if challenged they would negotiate first, if not they would search out the authorities and negotiate afterwards.

The port of Tyre was long known for its trade and harbours. A couple of officals were talking to each other, till one of them saw the India Company's ships. He told the others and they along with some others came to the harbour and waited for the ships to land. The officals were not expecting ships like these, ships from another empire or nation. As the India Company's shipsmen would, the officals, etc would negoitate first or something.

OOC-Greetings there, you can land in the port of Tyre.

OOC: Tyre, of course! Legendary, no less.

IC: As you would expect in any well run port, there were officials there to meet what were obviously unusual visitors. Earl Rowland called down to them, starting in Latin, though he would run through other languages if necessary;
"Greetings! We come from the nation of Incognitia, far to the South and East of here. We come to trade; and also, if possible, to negotiate over both trade agreements and diplomatic relations."

OOC-Tyre is one of my nation's well known places.

IC-The Syrian officals shouted in Syriac and then came to him. One offical, dressed in a military attire came to him and said ''I am Mithradates, one of the head officals.'' Mithradates was a sturdy and well built man but was respectful to visitors. ''You wish to trade with Syria?'' he asked. ''Follow us and we can negoitate trade.'' Mithradates said, having the others help Rowland and his men. Mithradates brought the Earl to the office of Tyre's mayor. Tyre's mayor, Mithrabarzanes was speaking to his daughter when Mithradates came in, with Rowland and the others. ''Mithradates, nice to meet you. I see you have brought a visitor.'' Mithrabarzanes said. ''This is Earl Rowland of Incognita and his men. He wishes to trade with us but I believe that we will need to consult the Emperor in Damascus.'' Mithradates said. All of them were tooken to a room, where they could discuss things. Mithrabarzanes spoke first. ''Earl Rowland, what business do you have in Syria?'' he asked Rowland respectfully of course.

OOC: Didn't know how close to RL you were, that's all...

IC: "Twofold. Firstly, I have been sent by my High Seneschal, our King if you will, to establish relations, and if appropriate offer alliance, with any nation we might encounter. Secondly, we are here as holders of a Royal Monopoly on trade in this region, in that we or our associates are the only traders from Incognitia permitted to trade here, and we are hoping to profit considerably from this deal."

OOC-I see, I try to mix the two if able to.

IC-Mithrabarzanes looked at Rowland and said ''Trade would be a good idea. I am sure our nations can start trading and as for an alliance, we will check with Damascus on that and for a confirming of trade.'' Mithradates began to speak ''Rowland, have you brought any goods in those ships of yours?'' The officals and the others looked to see the reply, perhaps trading could start early.

"Why of course! Some trader I would be with empty cargo holds.
At present, we have a selection of goods from our nation and our allies. So we have some of our finest weapons, including guns; and many of our best cloths. We have Angerman greenstone, and some of their woodwork. A few Kilanian horses, and samples of their metals. Some Kirisuban silks, though the trade there is less well established. Even some leftover Austian goods from before things turned sour in that part of the world.
As for buying, well, we will take anything of good quality at a reasonable price, though this journey is more testing the water than a serious venture."

OOC: That's cool. My actual nation is purely fictional, though there are extensive parallels with early-modern Britain, varying from 16th-18th centuries.

Mithradates replied ''You are a good trader by the looks of your goods.'' Mithradates and Mithrabarzanes and some officals looked at the goods, some like guns avaliable in Syria. ''We have many goods ourselves. For example, we have silks from Arabia, frankincense, perfumes, spices, myrrh, and many other goods.'' Mithradates said. Mithrabarzanes inquired ''I would like to ask about the horses. I could use them for some things like having mounted cavalry, I suppose.'' Mithradates and the others continued to look through the goods of Earl Rowland.

"Kilani has some very fine horses. While cavalry, inasmuch as I understand military matters, takes time to develop, there are few better steeds with which to attempt it.
Now, silks and spices are always popular, so I should be most interested in looking at what you have in that sort of thing.
As to guns; what sort have you? I am given to understand that ours are quite advanced amongst most nations, so either one of us will be able to help the other improve, or there may be advantages to exchanging expertise."

Mithradates replied ''Come with me, I'll show you what we offer.'' He showed Rowland, the silks, spices, myrrh, frankincense and other goods that his nation had. ''For guns, our people are well known for them, we have many of them.'' Mithradates said, showing Rowland some storehouses of guns, etc.

OOC-Can I invade another area or something to enlarge my past tech nation? I am thinking of doing so but I want to know how the other past tech nations would feel, especially with claiming lands on maps, etc.

OOC: You can invade or colonise to expand. Most people are. If you just want a fight, then ally with me and we've got a MONSTER coming up :D
If you want to expand, consider whether you want a fun war, but to annoy someone else by invading them, or a foregone conclusion invading NPC territory.
And the guns...can you give me a bit of detail? What kind of guns are we talking here? I've got arquebuses, cannon and rudimentary pistols, which is pretty much an upper limit on tech at the moment.

IC: "Your luxury goods will definitely interest us. I shall briefly confer with my colleague, who knows more of firearms than I do, to make sense of what I have seen there."
Imperial Syria
10-04-2006, 23:48
OOC-I am planning for a invasion of Anatolia and Greece, I suppose. I will start a thread soon. Also, I shall give detail on to the guns, I have mostly the same as you, I suppose.

IC- The guns that Mithradates showed Rowland were like arquebuses, muskets, and others. ''I look forward on what your colleage says, concerning our firearms, etc.'' Mithradates said. ''Shall we trade any of the other goods?'' he then asked.

"Well, those already mentioned will suffice for the few ships we have here at the moment. We shall return with more, and will be able to consider other goods at that point.
Putting my government hat on, I will wish to buy examples of your weapons, to be evaluated by our military. From what we have already seen, we will wish to send some of our gunsmiths here, and if you are agreeable take some of yours to our country, that we might both advance."
Imperial Syria
10-04-2006, 23:58
Mithradates said ''We could arrange for some gunsmiths to come to your nation. As for selling you guns and so on, we can arrange that but you would need to talk to Mithrabarzanes.''
