OOC: Designing my last ship, want input from all FT ship designers

For various reasons, I am leaving NationStates in the near future, and I figured I might as well grace the forums with my sheer inventive genius once more. Ok, seriously, I just want to make one more ship before I go.

Now, I realize my designs are um, how shall I put this... hard to read, but if you managed to actually read my past documents, you would find several holes in them that I failed to cover. For example, each ship is said to have a reactor or an engine, but never both. Thinking about it, both are required. One to provide power and the other to supply thrust.

So what I want from you, dear readers, are ideas on how to make this last ship exemplary. Look over my old designs, if you want, and drag forth ideas, or create your own. I do not want to hear anyone say that my crew numbers are excessive and impossible, however, because they are not.

Assuming that the crew, which is entirely made up of press-ganged slaves, work in eight-hour shifts chained to their specific stations, and then spends the rest of the day in a cramped chamber in the center of the ship, and the Marine officers have rooms only 9ft x 10ft x 5ft, there is still loads of space on board these monolithic vessels.

This is to be a mid-sized design, between 1,000 and 3,000 meters in length.

Mining and Construction facilities for smaller ships?

Make some sort of construct in the ship that allows it to pull in resources (ie asteroids, comets, gas) into some sort of facility on the inside that can convert the raw resources into production ability, to make additions on the cruiser, or fighters, or crusiers...or anything else you can think of.

That would be good for a large ship, but this is a midline combat vessel.
