Military Qualifcations & Training in your nation?

Military Qualifcations & Experience?

I have been wondering about other nations with this question. How do you get qualification to get into the armed services. What do you need to have learnt & done to finish your military training?

All conscripts in San Haven must do 18 months training instead of finishin year 12. When yr 12 starts back, all boys have to go to their local barracks to begin training. They finish the year after doing 12 months training. Then they are transferred to other barracks where they do 6 months work experience with the armed forces. Then after they may join the armed services or may seek college, its up to them. If a war breaks out, all those conscripts that have finished their training must sign up for war. However if your over 35 you do not have to sign up.

Qualfications:
Yr 10 Completion
Good Police Record
Healthy Individual

Training:
Must learn how to use up to 10 weapons used in the SH Defense, as well as 8 foreign weapons!
Learn SH History & Defence History
Learn International Geography
Learn English & Advanced Maths
Learn how to use a varity of Tanks, Aircraft & Naval Vessels
Learn Tactics & Stradegy
Get to go on three different War Games for a period of 2 weeks each. You come against other barracks
Must Learn Self-Defence
Must survive off the lands with a team of 5 for a period of 2 weeks.
Learn of issues that affect the SH Defence.
And there are many more things...

What about you other nations?

We have a very different training plan for the conscripts! After Yr 12 or Collage, all men must sign up (Before the age of 28) for three years military training. They undergo many tests whilst training. The training they recieve is about the same as the US Special Forces Training but, they go a little more in-depth in Urban Warfare & Anti-Terrorism!

After Training, like you, they have the option to gain employment within the Military or Return to university/Gain emplyoment else where!

All you need to gain qualification into the Military (Non-Conscript) is the completion of Yr 9, 2 Years of Work Experience anywhere, Healthy and must pass the fitness test (90% do complete it). They you are signed up to join. Can only join if you are over 15, 9 Months. Conscripts however (40% of the entire Military) must complete Yr 10 & Pass a fitness test (88% do). After passing that, they must do 6 months work placement with the armed services then do 2 years training, then can return to whatever or the military!
Gwazzaria

Military service once one graduates from the educational system is compulsory in Gwazzaria. However, 'military service' is a very loosely defined term - only a very small portion choose to serve as soldiers. Many work as bureaucrats in some military-related ministry.

Basic Training begins at age 14 in School throughout until the Age 18. 3 Years of Military Service is followed. After Initial Service if the Soldier has proven to be excellent, he will be made to stay for a 25 year contract as a NCO or CO. All else will be recieve Government Appointed jobs and participate in the National Militia for 20 years.

At least 70% Score with appointed Weapon. Score is based upon accuracy, Fire rate, Reload rate, and Maintenance.
Basic Understanding of all Domestic weapons and Vehicles
Indoctrination into the Imperial Bushido Code
Unquestioning Obediance to Superiors
Proper Bayonet Drill
Military and National History
Tactics and Strategy
Enviromental Survival Skills
Endurance and Strength Training Routines

If the Conscript shows inadequate skills in a couple or more of the above he will be appointed as a Non-Combatant soldier and serve in the Supply Divisions. These men are usually seen as "disgraced" for not fulfilling their role as a Countryman. Women are automatically appointed a Non-Combat Role for their Safety.

Our people enter the military service after completing highschool (if they are over 18). Although it is not full-time, so it does not disrupt university or college studies. They will participate in the military for 700 days (spread out over 3 years). After that, they can choose to remain in the military, or enter the Civil Defense Corps (Everyone who is not over 60, under 18, or handicapped, or religious beliefs.) THey still recieve training and refresher courses after the cumpulsory militayr service.

Bureaucrats! Yes, out of the 5 million or so that pass the Training, around 100,000 end up working for the military, and of that around 72,000 end up working for the Dept. of Homeland Security or the Defence Department. They usually give up their physical apperances & physical training to work with their military Knowledge they learnt in the Departments as Assistansts, Advisors or whatever and work for things like Espionage etc!

Jenrakians are scouted out for the military. That way, we have what the government wants. If somebody wants to be in the military, then they have to work hard to gain the attention of a Scout. Once recruited, they take a four year course on combat and detailed outlines on war.

The smarter ones are assigned to design and military maintenance and development, the stronger ones are placed into 'augmentation'.

Romanar

In Romanar, every male from age 18-35 is considered to be in the military, and they receive basic training in marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, and swordsmanship. Most of them are Reserves and continue in civilian occupations. They can be called into active service at any time, and they are supposed to train at least one weekend a month, but it's not enforced. The Active Military gets far more intensive training, and the officers get training in tactics. In peacetime, a significant percentage of the Active Military is Special Forces, and they get advanced training in marksmanship, survival in jungle or desert, explosives, and foriegn languages.
Cravan
02-04-2006, 04:02
Military service in Cravan is voluntary, and the minimum age is 18 years old. Other requirements are a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, a physical fitness exam, a few background checks, and basic training. After that, more advanced training in your field of expertise occurs. Each field which you go for in the military has different qualifications to meet, though.
Otagia
02-04-2006, 04:18
Otagian qualifications fall into a few different categories: Your average person, with universally required service for all persons in reasonably good health at least eighteen years of age for four years, followed by regular training once a month and another two weeks out of the year for refresher courses. Those with disabilities can opt for augmetics (funded entirely by the government) to allow them to serve. Of course, you can serve longer if you wish, and most officers are career soldiers.

The second category is the dedicated soldier castes of the PRA Red Samurai. These ones are part of a eugenics/genetic engineering program, and are trained from early childhood for both police and military duties. There actually is an option to retire after seven years of service, but nearly all Samurai are careerists. The Samurai operate as sort of an Schutzstaffel-type group (sans most of the negative feelings), and are generally viewed with a mix of admiration and unease.

Training for the Regulars is roughly equivalent to Basic, with the addition of quite a few courses revolving around PRA technology, such as Airborne Dragoon training and basic electronics use (smartlinks, TacComp, etc). The Samurai, of course, are trained to a far higher degree, with most individual soldiers trained in the use of Akuma and Tetsu no Kami battle armor.
Azaha
02-04-2006, 04:35
Well, in MT Azaha.. it's really quite simple.
-Basic reading comprehension, meaning, can you read the little letters on a claymor that sais "Aim this way for enemy".
-You know how to shoot in a general direction, and can keep the basic upkeep of your weapon good.
-You are *not* of the islamic faith(Not a RL view, just an RP one).

A system that insures a large military, without much cost. There are alot of other minor details, but this is only the "grunt" level soldiers. OF course special forces, pilots, tank screws, and sailors get a different method, and to a far more advanced degree.

In the Dominion, it's not complex to understand...merely cruel and grueling.

At age 12, all juvenile males are tested for physical and strategic mental abilities. The top 10% in physical and 2% in mental each are sent away (parents have no say) to military camps where they then spend the next eight years training for lives in the military. Those who scored in the mental echelon learn tactical and strategic military movement and how to efficiently command men. They are trained for positions in intelligence and as officers. They are required to go through physical regimens, but not as difficult ones as the other qualifyers. Those who make the physical echelon are sent through grueling tests and are beaten and whipped into shape for the military. 75% survival rate here, families of those who die are slightly compensated. But it improves the military as a whole. They must pass fairly basic mental ability tests to make sure they are mentally fit and sound. For those who do not make the percentages, standard citizens eighteen or older may apply for the armed forces, but must go through two years of physical training before admitted in. Survival rate here is 72%. Tests for these applicants are somewhat more difficult than for those who are bred for military service.

Kahanistan
02-04-2006, 04:52
For entering: Practically nothing, especially in the Imperial Marines, where 18% of enlisted and 3% of officers are convicted felons. One in twenty Imperial Marines is a twice-convicted felon.

For training: Four months of basic for enlisted personnel in the Republic Guard, Imperial Marines, or Republic Navy. Must be 18 or older. If the enlistee is not fit, the four months of grueling boot camp will MAKE them fit. In addition, compulsory education ensures that by 18, all Kahanistanians with an IQ above 80 have basic reading, mathematical, and writing skills, in addition to fluency in at least two languages.

For officer training: At age 12 or older, a program at Kahanistan Military Academy provides officer candidates with an eight-year curriculum which leads to a secondary school diploma, university degree, military training, and a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Republic Guard or Imperial Marines, or an Ensign in the Republic Navy. Some older officer candidates already have a secondary school or higher degree, and their education at the Academy consists solely of the training and education they do not already possess. Also, an enlisted soldier can earn a battlefield commission or attend an officer training program within their branch, as opposed to the Academy, which is geared towards turning civilians into officers.

62% of Kahanistanians over 24 have served at least a year in the Republic Guard (the largest branch of the military, as it encompasses the Air Force, most of the logistical chain, and some frontline infantry and other ground combat units) and that branch has the highest turnover in the Kahanistanian armed forces. The Imperial Marines are the most liberal about taking convicted felons, but 4% of enlisted RG's and less than 1% of RG officers are convicted felons.

Because of the Republic Guard's high turnover, Kahanistan has a force of hundreds of millions of civilians with combat expertise and firearms training, capable of defending the nation on the ground, making a land invasion of Kahanistan a daunting task for even a ground superpower.
Chitzeland
02-04-2006, 05:03
Chitzeland is not very picky when it comes to choosing who gets to serve in the military. The only qualifications are willingness to serve and general physical and mental competance (as judged by whether or not a recruit makes it through basic training). If a recruit is not good with a gun, but still can make it past basic training, then he will be given another position. Positions are given out based on specific talents.

Well, in the Dominion…anybody age 12 can join in the Dominion Armed Forces. But they will never see combat until they are 17 or older. That is, if the Dominion goes to war.

The training is not the same, each commander trains their men in different ways.

But a bill (By the God-Emperor and his cabinet) was passed and all schools are ran by the government. Turing them into military academies. The students became ‘Wolf Youths.’ It is not what y’all are thinking.
Krioval
02-04-2006, 07:28
Krioval has two branches of the military. The first is the traditional armed forces, which allows any citizen at or above the age of 16 to enlist. Should the volunteer manage to pass basic training, he or she is directed toward a career path that emphasizes his or her strengths. The combat-trained forces of Krioval comprise about 0.08% of its population (~ 2 million soldiers), with logistical troops being about 0.4% of the overall population (~ 9 million support troops). Many logistical personnel have jobs in the civilian sector when Krioval is not at war.

The second branch is the Guild of Paladins, which was originally a dumping ground for younger sons and daughters of nobility, but which is now Krioval's elite shock force. To pass beyond the low ranks of the Guild, one must demonstrate sufficient proficiency with at least one ranged and one hand-to-hand weapon, the ability to comprehend basic research documents, and be able to operate an aircraft/spacecraft.

(so far) Secret IC: To pass to the highest ranks, one must be of sufficient physical and psychological fortitude to assume an avatar. This process relies on the Kriovalian ability to alter fundamental bits of data, including genetic code and physical objects, remotely. An avatar is essentially the form of a mythological being that is attuned to a particular method of fighting. There are fewer than fifty avatar-bound paladins in Krioval - the process is also energy and time-consuming.
Fourhearts
02-04-2006, 07:45
In the Kingdom of Fourhearts, all males must enter military service for at least two years upon the graduation of High School. Military training actaully begins in high school, so all recruits are realativly fit and have some basic knowledge of firearms and basic soldier skills.

To enter the military, one must be of sound mind and body. It's not that difficult. Job placement however is dependent on a number of things including grades, leadership potential, physical fitness, and is partially determined by volunteering.

Most recruits will find themselves placed on an airship, ethier in the Armada or Humanitarian Fleet. Recruits that show a potential for medical school are placed in the Humanitarian Fleets and the Fleet will train them to become a doctor.

Xirnium
02-04-2006, 08:41
The Xirniumite Defence Force (XDF) is a professional and all-volunteer force. Minimum entry requirements are comparatively very strict, and some of the criteria include:

-The applicant must be at least twenty-one years of age.
-The applicant must be a Xirniumite citizen.
-The applicant must have successfully completed secondary education and exceeded a certain specific minimum final score.
-The applicant must have a clean police record.

-The applicant must successfully pass medical, fitness, psychological and aptitude tests.

Both men and women are eligible to join any branch, and apply for any role (combat or non-combat), in the Xirniumite Defence Force. Compared with the majority of their counterparts in other nations, members of the XDF are extremely well educated and in good physical condition - literacy is universal and physical standards are strict.

A career in the Xirniumite Defence Force is not usually though of as an attractive alternative to civilian life in the Eternal Republic - mostly due to cultural issues and perceptions regarding the role of the military in Xirnium. To most, military life does not offer the same prestige and status that one gains from civilian occupation. Several commanders in the XDF have commented, however, that this strengthens the sense of esprit de corps and fosters a feeling of camaraderie, improving overall morale, in the Xirniumite Defence Force for those who do decide to enlist.
Uldarious
02-04-2006, 09:54
My nation is PMT so it may sound a little strange but still this is a brief overview.

There are two major types of soldiers in Uldarious they are Standard and Children, same with police forces, the capitals here are necessary.

Standard soldiers make up the bulk of the Militant Division (the armed forces of Uldarious) at a rate of about 60% in most fields.
In Uldarious every man, woman and child will know something of self-defence although only the military and police forces are tought techniques for breaking limbs and other crippling techniques, in addition to this many practice forms of knife and sword fighting.

The average man may join the armed forces at age 16 or over, at age 16 they are required to train for six years, at age 17 it's five years and at age 18 it's four, after that it stays at four years except in severe wartime when it can be lowered by one year for all.

In cases where special qualifications are required the time taken to learn these skills is added to the training period.

Children

These men and women are taken about a year after birth and put into government homes where they are tought all the basic skills such as reading, writing and math skills while this is happening they are trained in hand-to-hand cmbat skills, gunmanship, knife, sword and tonfa fighting skills and at the same time taught to be loyal to the state.

At age 16 they are put into the field they are selected for, most occupy field positions in the Law and Militant divisions with the greater amount in the Militant.
Some are selected as weapon and vehicle designers for the government and also receive the highest education possible in areas of physics, chemistry and other sciences.
As a whole they tend to be a cold lot capable of thinking for themselves but also following orders to the letter, they can fight a foreign enemy or thier own countrymen with equal deadliness and guile.

In addition to these two groups people who prove themselves worthy can receive further genetic enhancements or cybornetic enhancements, they are then given the added title of either GES or CES after their name respectively.

For example one soldier could be called something like Child Jasique Kolai, Executive-Captain GES G2.

That would mean he was one of the Children, he was a Executive-Captain and he had Generation two genetic enhancements.

Another example would be something like Serra Julan, Director-Major NAT ST.

And that would mean she was a Director-Major, without further genetic manipulation and not one of the Children.

Given the average lifespan of 120 and average physical ability staying constant till age 100 and then slowly declining most serve in the military for about sixty years but they can quit at any time after four years of service.

All Militant Division and Law Division personal must take and pass a psychological analysis test every ten years to remain in the armed forces.
To join the Militant Division someone must be Uldarion born, this is for the health of an outsider who wanted to join although partly through descrimination and concerns about loyalty as well there are two key reasons why outsiders aren't allowed to join.

The first reason is that many men in the Uldarian Militant Division dislike outsiders and would be willing to take action against them if they tried to join the army, they have an advanced superiority complex that can sometimes lead to rascist views although this is rare there are those who hold these views.

The second is that due to the altered genetics of Uldarians it is unlikely someone without previous military experience would be able to survive the bitter temperatures and some of the harder training methods employed in certain training camps, this is due to the reaction speed, strength and stamina required.

Jagada
04-04-2006, 06:59
In the Dark Empire of Jagada it is a bit complex, but simplistic in the end.

12 Years-of-Age - Children as old as twelve are conscripted into the military--universal conscript, boys and girls are forced into uniform. Their pre-teen training, which is a one year coarse, consists of primarily getting them all physically fit--as the Undertakers (Soldiers in Jagada) and the Overlords (Officers in Jagada) do not like to get overweight children into their squads. Other then thats its a propaganda introduction coarse that teaches hatred of the Enemies of the Lord Protector (not the State).

13-16 Years-of-Age - Once children reach the age of thirteen, they must come in during the Summer, for one month to be taught advanced physical fitness and advanced propaganda. Again, this is primarily a fitness ordeal. The Dark Empire doesn't like overweight soldiers.

17-55 Years-of-Age - Now is where the fun really begins. Soldiers was put threw heck in years of intense training that ranges from Super-Advanced Physical fitness, tactics, super-advanced propaganda, being trained heavily in weapons and vehicles, learning various martial arts styles. The Military is everything in Jagada now. Ultimate revenge.

In my nation Military service is compulsory. Anyone who joins however has finished school with a fairly good grade. Although it is compulsory anyone who does not show signs (after they have finished a year) of:
A. being fit, healthy and no signs of disease or war dettering injury or other
B. gaining a better knowlage of geography, history, international languages
C. no understanding of how to fire at least 5 different weapons and a specialised class of their choice
D. no skills in military manouvers
E. no social manners or attitudes that will hinder the county
will be removed from any further military service.
The minmum age of comscription is 17 and the maximum is 55.
Any Military cadets and army servicemen are immediatly put into specialised training procedures and have cybernetic implants implanted to make them even better.
Latrans
04-04-2006, 08:45
Military service in Latrans is compulsory, all pups must finish a six-month "boot camp" followed by a year of service in one of the three military branches: merchant marines, coast guard, or national defense corps at the end of the 10th school year, provided they can pass the physical exam. Training includes: use, cleaning, and repair of the augustus-steyr weapon system, a firearm that can be modified from pistol to carbine to sub-machine gun in a matter of moments and fits into a box the size of a briefcase as well as basic training in the most common foreign firearms. In addition to this firearms training, all Latran pups must also master the armed and unarmed defense techniques expounded within the Art of Shen Ku.

At the end of their year of service, pups are granted adult status and may choose to either continue their military education, or return to the civilian schooling for another three years. All Latrans citizens are aware of their duty to defend their country and freedom by their own actions and arms, thereby having a militia equal to seventy-five to ninety percent of the population in a city. Any citizen that refuses to serve or is dishonorably discharged from their military service has their citizen status revoked and loses their right to vote in any form or fashion. Civil laws against harassment and discrimination prevent any serious resentment against non-citizens.
