The Beginning of a New Era ((FT intro/open))

Ruken

Semi secret IC:The Centurion Nebula about the normal nebula one traveling on a starship sees but to the Ruken people it is what they call home. This is the only place in the universe the Ruken people thought until they discovered that certain crystals placed in a radio can by-pass the FTL barrier. That discovery was about 200 years ago. When they first heard alien signals though that radio the people of Ruken rejoiced for 3 days and 3 nights. For once, they now know that they are not alone. However after the partying, the marry making, tears of joy, they heard something that not one person will ever forget, War. They saw it for years. At first, they did not know what they were saying but they knew it was terrible they saw women and children being slaughtered being force to work as slaves seeing planets turn into rubble. After a year or two they knew what they where saying. They knew what a horrible place this universe was, filled with rouge fleets, pirate nations, and slavers. They were terrified of the universe. Then over time, an idea started lingering, the idea if any of those nations come to the Centurion Nebula they could make slaves of us or worse, genocide. They were determined not to let that happen, they built factories spanning miles across the very few planets they had. They made starships without FTL drives, the largest about the size of a strike class cruiser. Then something terrible happened something worse than rouge fleets, pirate nations, even slavers. Civil War broke out all because of the universe. A twisted fate one might say. For years, it battled on until only one planet was suitable for life. The people of Ruken wary of war now knew that the universe was there only hope so they said there prayers and made a ship nothing large, nothing fancy about the size of a Blockade Runner using warp drives they figured out how to use and now is preparing to move into the universe.

IC:“Captain Port said we are free to go,” yelled Chief navigator Yorg. “Very good, dead ahead at warp 4 Chief,” said Captain Vorrs “Today my friends we will determine the fate of Ruken,” Vorrs yelled to everyone. “What about that fleet we purchased Capt’n from some nation Huntaer?” murmured First Officer Trod “Do you want me to lock you up?” whispered back jokingly. “Captain we have left the nebula we are in open space now” yell Yorg. Well the fun starts here thought Vorrs.

A blip. Activity. It was outside the boarders of this remote corner of Kazecistan, but not too far. A few moments brought about the appearance of a Kazeci frigate very near to the newly slowed vessel.
"Origin: unknown... threat level: minimal..." The information continued to stream across the display, getting more specific by the moment. A message was sent.

We are Kazeci. You have jumped near the Kazeci boarder. We inquire as to what your intent is. Ours is of peace.

ooc: could be interesting.

IC:

Admiral Dashnu of the Abh Empire had just recently come off of a fresh fight with the Sephrioth fleet. Casualties were at zero and the only damage was some minor scarring the crystalline armor on one of the Victory Class Destroyers.

The Abh fleet just moved from Hyperspace into regular space to make a quick fix. There was the option of just heading straight for the Vobayrunay naval yards and make the repairs there but the line would be impossibly long with lending aid in the Huntar civil war. The fleet made the hault and would repair the armor fitting as quickly as possible.

"All ships prepare to make the jump to regular space."

Fifteen Victor Class Destroyers, twelve Rambirds, fifteen Shadow Destroyers, and twenty Frontlineships made their formal entrance albeit a very small one as this fleet could hardly be considered a squadron by Abh standards. Dashnu's chief of staff, Thereasa, made her way to the bridge. "Your highness, we have confirmation of all ships and all communication links are secured. Work has commenced on the one Destroyer that took a hit during our battle protecting the rebels."

Dashnu nodded. "Very good. Keep me informed. Launched the fighters on reconisence missions. I don't want anyone sneaking up on us."

Fifteen star cutters launched from a destroyer and fired their engines up.

"Sir Sensors are picking up a ship it's about frigate size the Kazecistan... sir they sent us a message," yelled Jorj. "Put it on screen Jorj," the captain said. After hearing the message, "Crov hail them" said the captain.

ooc: I'll go first. Oh, and call me Abh. Everyone else does and it's easier.

IC:
Flight leader Greil had taken his fighters further out as anything that could jump in closer would easily be detected by the Admiral and soundly dealt with. The small squadron of Star Cutters decided to branch out instead.

Separate energy signatures were detected by the squadron as a Kazecistan vessel enterd the area along with the unidentified vessel.

"This is Greil to all fighters, it seems we have picked up some new guests in our neck of the woods. Gracus, report to the Admiral and inform him that we have detected two seperate nations in this region of space. The Admiral may need to prepare the fleet. Intentions are unknown at the moment."

"Yes sir."

A solo fighter banked right then left and peeled off to head back to the fleet. Greil however opened a frequency to this new nation that had arrived. Vocal transmissions were rare among the Abh but cases such as these, it was seen as more practical as few used text messages.

This is commander Greil of the Abh Empire. Our main fleet has stopped by this sector to make a small repair. We are out scouting to secure the area when we detected your arrival. Please identify yourself and state you intentions.

Dashnu was leaning on the rail of the bridge as the tactical map in the floor of the ship replayed the last battle. He was studying the enemies tactics along with their ships. Thereasa was there by his side with a new report. "One of our fighters has just returned. It seems that a Kazecistan ship and an unknown vessel have been detected by our scouts."

The map was switched off and he stood straighter. "What's the status of the repairs?"

"Workers are returning to the docks."

Dashnu nodded his head. "Prepare to leave. Let's greet the newly arrivees."

Even though the only part of Kazecistan in the area that justified Kazecis claiming territory near there was a mining operation, there were still extensive sensor networks and buoys to detect other vessels. A message was transmitted to the frigate.

There's a small fleet of ABH ships in the area, keep an eye out. Make peace. this is your chance to get transferred out of here and you don't want to screw that up.

The commander noted the message and sent one of his own to the alien vessel. We too wish for peace and positive relations. Perhaps we could speak face to face to work out details?

OOC: My ship designs look like those used by the Shadows in Babylon 5 (most crystaline designs I could find (my attempts with DOGA were quite non-crystaline, so I had to use a design I could find pics of)). Only mine are white in color and appear to be lit from within.

The Curtesii, a Preserver class (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g166/The_Illuminati_Orb/Schematics/batlcrab.jpg) war cruiser, currently only one of four in existance, and her two Muhorta class (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g166/The_Illuminati_Orb/Schematics/scout.jpg) scout cruiser escorts, the Monopoli, and the Monopolii, appeared in a flash of light as they completed the latest in a series of Mage Jumps while en route to an ancient set of co-ordinates that they had been tasked to explore while eight of the nine Ships Of Light (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g166/The_Illuminati_Orb/Schematics/RD20032520-2520Ship2520of2520Light.jpg) were en route for the planet given to Dragon Emperor as a new home in the Andromeda Galaxy by the nation of Ri-an.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Dragonlord, we are reading several ships in the area of unkown national origin. Should we take the ships stealth?"

"No. We need maps of this space and the locals are most likely to have them."

"Agreed. But what if they turn out to be hostile?"

"We either, if the recharge is complete, Mage Jump out of there, or fight back. It will depend on the situation, Captain."

"Understood, Dragonlord."

"For now, though, maintain position and keep the comm chatter to a minimum. Let's not provoke them and let them come to us if they want. We shall wait for them to contact us first."

"As you wish, sir."

"Well look at that, it's a fleet of ships" murmured Trod. "Crov hail Commander Greil," said Vorrs.

Phoenix to Commander Greil we are just looking around, we figured out FTL travel so we're sight seeing. Anyways, if I was going to attack you don't you thing I bring out something bigger*chuckles*

"Well the kazecistan ship seems more than happy to be friends," said Chief. "True but the Gruto faction looked nice too until they plunged us into civil war," Said Vorrs. "Open a hailing frequency to the Kazecistan ship"

Phoenix to Kazecistan ship we be more than happy to be friends, also I would love to meet you face to face although our ship doesn't have hanger, where do you want to go?

"Sir, I think I detect another fleet of ships although it's very weak," yelled Jorj. "I believe we just became popular Trod," murmured Vorrs

A message was shortly sent to the Ruken vessel.

Well a couple fighters like these won't be much use against a vessel that size. But, a few ships like these would greatly turn the tide of battle...

Victory Class Destroyers (http://www.b5tech.com/isa/excalibur/excaliburglory.jpg), Shadow Destroyers (http://www.b5tech.com/earthalliance/earthallianceshipsandvessels/earthcapships/omegax/omegax.jpg), Rambirds, and Frontlineships (http://url.photobucket.com/albums/v88/Zorak950/NS/Space/Hokal.jpg).

A message was soon dispatched to those that were in attendance at this meeting. A powerful video feed was transmitted to those that were capable of receiving such communications. The picture of an Abriel graced the screen looking much like an elf with his pointed ears accompanied by long blue hair. His royalty was dignified by the ears along with his rank with the double winged tiara (http://www.abhnation.com/components/com_mambospgm/spgm/gal/SNSII-09/SNS2-09-20.jpg).

Greetings. My name is Prince Abreil Nei Dobrusk Paryunu Dashnu of the Abh Empire. My detachment has come fresh off of a battle and we have made a minor stop in the area. It seems we are fortunate to greet new guests in the universe. On behaf of the Kin of the Stars, I welcome you.

OOC: @1010102: Now that's just spamming another's thread. Would you like it if someone did that to you?

IC: "My lord, indications are that at least one of the ships, and most likely the whole group of ships, are of Abh origin."

"Hmm, as far as I recall, our nation has, to date, no contact or relation with the Abh."

"Correct, sir. All we know about them is the shared information we have from our allied nations that have had contact with them."

"Hmm, this could be a golden oppurtunity for us."

"Sir?"

"Get me a scroll so I can draft a message to them."

"As you wish, my lord."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eventually, the message was transmitted in the Universal Standard Language, which is commonly known as English, to the first ship to be identified as of Abh origin:

Attention Abh vessel, this is the Curtesii of the Dominion Of Dragon Emperor. What brings you out this far? That is, if you don't mind our asking.

We have heard only good things about you from a mutual ally.

OOC: @Ruken: Don't worry. I'll do first contact with you (if we all end up at the same meeting that is (if not, I'll end up contacting you IC'ly)).
The Humankind Abh

Dashnu had returned to his seat and Thereasa was standing by his side. All communications were directed through the Senior Officer and read. "Sir, we have a transmission coming through from a ship identifying themselves as the Dominion of the Dragon Emperor."

The Abriel had his head resting on top of his fist for a moment. "Go ahead and read it to me."

"Yes sir."

. . . . .

"Well that is certainly interesting to think our name has spread to others in the universe. Such an honor for the Empire. I wonder who could have spread such a good rumor about us. Senior Officer, sent a reply."

"Yes sir."

Curtesii, we are honored to learn that our name is known throughout the universe. Now I am curious, what mutual ally has told you such rumors about us? I am sure they can't all be true.

31-03-2006, 21:19
Dragonlord Forest Turel'liv chuckled as he read the Abh response. He quickly drafted up a short response message.

We speak of the nation known as the Holy Empire of SeaQuest, at least that's what they were known as when we last had contact with them.

OOC: Lol. Yes, I'm RP'ing that IC'ly I don't know that SQ's title thing (or whatever you call it) has changed.
The Humankind Abh
31-03-2006, 21:29
The message went through the same channels once more. The prince shifted his head from one fist to the next. "Interesting. Senior Officer, send this reply."

"Yes sir."

That would explain much then. Then to answer your first question, we are fresh from a battle against the nation of Sephrioth who seemed to have been anatgonizing the weakness of rebels. They lost many a ships to our guns and fighters while we shielded the rebels with our armor. They eventually made a jump to another destination. What became of their fate, I do not know. In any case, it seems that the Kazecistanians have offered their ship up as a joint meeting place. I do plan to attend since there are new nations among us.

"Crov hail everyone," said Vorrs straightening his uniform

Well it seems that we are all new to each other why do not we meet on the Kazecistan ship since it seems it is there space. In addition, I think we are all friends, there we can discuss there

"You think it's going to work?" said Trod while tallying up the firepower of each ship. "I guess you never heard of the big three from some planet called earth?"

"Interesting," thought Forest Turel'liv as he read both the latest message from the Abh and the broadcast by the Ruken, "Sounds like it could be interesting."

"Captain," he said aloud, "I'll be taking up this offer of joining the meeting. You're in command until I return."

"Are you sure that is wise, my lord?"

"Captain, I am quite capable of taking care of myself. We have known each other long enough for you to have figured that out by know. Of course, as per protocaul, I'll take two guards with me."

"As you wish, sir."

"Have them meet me in the Hanger," he said as he stood up from his seat.

"Aye, sir."

The Dragonlord went to change into his dress uniform (http://www.psni.police.uk/uniform1850.jpg). Unlike the dress robes worn by the members of the Saethe, the dress uniform of a naval officer wasn't as flamboyant, even if that officer happened to be a Dragonlord.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The two armored elven guards (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g166/The_Illuminati_Orb/Character%20Pics/002_20050224_010443_833.jpg) were waiting next to a Remora class (http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b325/USS_Atlantis_RPG/Ships/Ctop.jpg) shuttle when the Dragonlord strode into the Hanger in his dress uniform and with his cerimonial sword (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g166/The_Illuminati_Orb/Weapons/sting.jpg) dangling from his left hip in its scabard (http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g166/The_Illuminati_Orb/Weapons/sting20scabard.jpg).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The seventeen meter long shuttle darted from the Hanger of the Curtesii and began moving towards the ship the meeting was to take place on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

A message was sent out to the Abh, the Ruken, and anyone else involved, that the Dragonlord's shuttle was en route to the meeting.

"Thereasa, you have the bridge until I return. This probably won't take long."

The woman nodded and stood to the side out of his way. "Who should I assign as your escort?"

"No one. I'm going alone."

"Your highness, I strongly advise against that. Attacking you would be an easy declaration of war. I can't bare the thought of being labeled the Chief of Staff who let the commander go off by himself only to be murdered."

Dashnu smiled. "Chief, I am an Abriel and will not die like that. If it were to happen though, you have my permission to destroy every last ship in this system."

Shortly after an Abh communications ship (http://www.abhnation.com/components/com_mambospgm/spgm/gal/SNM-04/SNM-04-11.jpg) dropped out of the hangar and was on approach vector to the Kazeci vessel.

Lt. Commander Gittigen was thrilled. If this meeting went well, he would for sure be transferred away from this far out territory to somewhere where there was finally some action. He set the crew into action. First order of business on the agenda was opening the bay, there were shuttles arriving after all.

To all inbound shuttles: Please enter the aft bay and allow our systems to guide your craft to a landing point. A reception will await you there.

Next was transporting the most important guests aboard. They would be beamed directly to the conference room where he hurried to meet them. He dawned the traditional Kazeci diplomatic robes with many layers of folded fabrics in earthen tones and was accompanied by two guards, who dawned their dress uniforms and bore polished staffs of sliver. As they materialized into existence, he clasped his hands and bowed his head slightly before looking up and greeting them. "It is such a joy to have you here. Welcome. It will be a great day when our two peoples prosper together. Please, sit down. Is there any thing I can get you?"

Admiral Dashnu guided the transport ship into the docking bay and gently touched down. The back of the transport dropped down to reveal a stepped ramp.

The Abriel descended the ramp dressed in typical Star Forces unifrom with a blue cap as is custom with being an Admiral along with the twin tiara handband that was gilded to indicate royalty along with his pointed ears. Where the typical command saber would have been tucked away in the sash, a Japanese katana now rested at the side of his hip.

The crystaline shuttle darted through the space between the larger ships en route to the ship holding the meeting. Eventually, they found the right ship and located the hanger. The white crystal of the hull pulsed softly a few times while she was being set down in the Kazecistan hanger.

On the side of the shuttle, a section 'melted' away to reveal a hatch. The Dragonlord Forest Turel'liv and his two guards stepped out into the hanger.

ooc: Not at all too fast.

Ic: The two arrivals weren't close to each other, but due to the fact that the bay was pretty much a few wide open shelves of deck, one could see both parties at the same time. Each was treated identically. A single man in full dress uniform greeted each. The uniform presented well, despite being rather comfortable. It consisted of a barrette, pressed tan pants, a matching jacket, and an olive shirt. A fair number of small metals came together over their left breast, forming a rectangle of many stripes and colors. A few symbols adorned their shoulders and upper arms.

"Welcome aboard. Please, follow me." They were lead down several corridors on their way to the conference room. There was nothing astounding about them, a few people walked about here and there, saluting as they passed. Everything was clean, smooth, and well lit, the workings of the ship all covered by panels so that the eye was lead to the more aesthetic scenes on the walls. They were all flush, but some appeared to be exact depictions of places while others were impressions of things as if done by hand. Each was peaceful and attractive to the eye, yet they were far enough apart that they weren't competing or distracting.

Every Abh had an appreciation for art and Dashnu's head was typically turning to gaze at each depiction. Just about every Abh ship had paintings decorating the interior for a bit of color and flare. Still, he kept in step with the man that was leading him to the conference room.

The ABH party passed through a large doorway, spanning some length of hall. They were now in the heart of the ship, and one wouldn't know it but for the hallways on either side. The ship's gardens were held in a large room, nearly 50 meters in each direction and an artificial sky overhead. The floor was green with grass and they walked on a pathway of stone around large trees and past wooden benches. The whole garden was built around a large Koi pond with several connected streams and pondlets. Large and colorful fish swam gracefully, occasionally breaking the water's surface. Birds chirped and a cat slept under one of the gazebos, lulled to sleep by the sound of running water. It was a 'sunny' day, with few clouds but much shade. All of it, everything but the sky, was real. Sometimes it was nice to get away from holodecks.

The Commander wanted the delegates happy, and if a trip around the best of the ship could improve his chances of getting transferred, it was worth it. Still, he couldn't hold them up too long.

"The conference room is just up this way." he gestured toward the far side of the gardens, which was now the closest wall. A moment later and they had come to the solid floor of the hall and begun the short walk to the conference room.

The Kazeci hadn't expected this. It had been a long time since he had heard anything other than Kazin, but he could make out the more basic aspects of basic. Holding up a finger for a moment, he bent over the table and quickly sent a request for a translation device. A few seconds and one materialized on the table, it would translate between Kazin and Basic while they would have to translate between their language and Basic. Intercepting his thoughts before they were turned to words, the device spoke for him now. "Welcome aboard. It is such a joy to have you here. It will be a great day when our two peoples prosper together. Please, sit down. Is there any thing I can get you?"

Just then, the Abh party entered the room. "Sir, the delegates from Abh are here." He ushered them in and then left the room.

"A saddening event. I apologize for your loss and understand it isn't easy to be reminded. It's right through this door." He, too, ushered them in and introduced them before leaving.

The Lt. Commander wasn't stupid, he could easily pick out their tone and infer their words. He didn't understand why a military officer would be expected to know a language seldom used in these parts; that wasn't necessary for his job. He didn't bring it up, that would hurt his chances. "While Kazin is a very logical and simple language, it is also similar to many others. As such, it isn't surprising that your translator can pick it up so quick. Either way, now that we're all here, why don't I start over?

"Honestly," Forest Turel'liv said as he stepped through the door, "Dragonlords are great linguists. It comes with the job and the species.

"Personnally, I speak at most twelve different languages fluently."

I'm Lt. Commander Gittigen. It's an honor to have all of you here today. Please, take a seat. Is there any thing we can get for you before we get started?"

The Dragonlord took his seat and the two elven guards stood to each side behind him. He proceeded to watch the other representatives after indicating he was fine.

"Well um... Ruken is in need of planets we would lay claim to this sector but since the Kazecistan had been here and laid claim first I am willing to buy it from you. Although we are as per say 'well to do’, we do have our limit to money or materials. Also we of Ruken would like to sign a non-aggressive pact between all of us here," said Vorrs diplomatically.

Dashnu smiles almost mockingly. He rests his hand on the table to show a redcloth covering the back of his hand and in the middle rested a green jewel. "Display map of the galaxy."

A holographic image shimmered and appeared from the jewel to display the spiralling Milky Way Galaxy. A tip of the spiral was highlighted in red. "This area of the galaxy is laid claim to by the Abh Empire. As you can see, it is not in contact with any member you see here today. The galaxy is vast with millions of stars and planets."

The image was then focused on their current position. "This one direction may be occupied by Kazecistan but that does not mean you cannot claim planets lying in other systems. The possibility for expansion is practically limitless until you run into another civilization."
Kazecistan

"This area, too, is nearly devoid of civilization. Our only claim to it is a mining system not too far off. The body of the Kazeci Dominion is a good distance away. While we'd love to have your money," He smiled, giving a slight laugh. "we have no habitable systems in this area which to sell. We're willing to show you a few in the area which to start in, however."

The black hemisphere protruding from the middle of the table suddenly came to life, emitting holographic documents before each of the parties. "As for the nonaggression pact, Kazecistan is willing to sign one right now. We're willing to sign it with each of you. This draft is fairly basic, including all of the usual arrangements; you won't find any surprises in it." He let them read over it. At the bottom, each had several lines for signatures or other binding symbols, one for each of the other nations present. If a delegate wished only to have a nonaggression pact with one other nation present, it could.

Dashnu cancelled his holographic display. "It has been a long time since the Empire has fought the Kazecistanians. Since the Abh have no interests in this part of the galaxy, I feel it would be safe to sign a non-agression pact with your nation."

ooc: I never get peoples native possives right.

IC: "Indeed it has been. The Abh have a tendancy of looking favorably on those that fight battles honorably whether they be friend or foe. Even the former empress her Majesty Ramaj, enjoyed her time at one of your planets. It is not too often that royalty is treated as such. Perhaps there is hope for both our nations to work side by side."

"We of ruken do not care, please do not take me as um, mean but the nebula we came out of is our home. We will certenly eaxpand to other places but we don't want our home so close to anyone." said Vorrs

OOC: The nebula is like the briar patch in star trek.

ooc: don't worry about it, my characters are just a little anal in that area....

Ic: "It's good to see that our tourism is attractive to even royalty. We do work very hard to preserve our planets' natural beauty and to make guests feel welcome. Working side by side with your people would be an honor, and Kazecistan hopes that this is the first step in the process." Gittigen turned to the Ruken representatives at their words, surprised by their change of attitude. "If you'd like, I'm sure Kazecistan would be willing to sell off this mining system, thus making the area once again devoid of civilization. Or you could move into the area anyway and just wait until we move out. We certainly don't mean to put you out if we can avoid it."
Dragon Emperor
14-04-2006, 07:34
OOC: Ehh, depending on the species of the character from my nation you are addressing, the plural varies. There is no national plural or singular.

IC: At mention of unihabitable worlds in the area, Forest Turel'liv asked, "What class of worlds are they? If they are all Class D, simply rocks in space, or Class J gas giants, then there's nothing we can do. However, if any are Class H desert planets, Class K ice worlds, or Class L swamp planets, then we may be able to terraform it."

"Well if it makes you feel any better, my realm is no where near this area and Kazecistan has one mining planet in the area. I believe you could establish a pressence in this region of space without a single problem. Though if people are looking for a fight, we could provide assistance as well."
Kazecistan
20-04-2006, 01:57
"You've got nothing to fear from Kazecistan, or the other nations here from what I know, but your position is understandable. I would, however, suggest that for strategic reasons, you chose colonies near a large and friendly nation, so as to have a boarder secured. Open space is open to pirates and not always the best choice for boarders."
Ruken
20-04-2006, 22:19
"The future is always in motion no matter how much we try to keep things the same. The people of Ruken learned that the hard way, the consequences were disastrous. No offence but one day we could be the best of friends, the next the worst of enemies." said Vorrs.

OOC: Ok I think I needed a map now space is just too big to comprehend
The Humankind Abh

ooc: There are several people with maps of the galaxy, I prefer not to be on a map of the galaxy so that I'm more flexible in RPs and don't get left with the crummy spots. I've got a map of my nation, but that's a little different.

ooc: I personally like prefer to occupy a spiral on the galaxy so I at least know that there is a direction where no one borders me.
Kazecistan
24-04-2006, 23:55
OOC: one can simply ask in an RP for a boarder with another nation, and it will be granted most likely. Ask if you can claim a boarder whenever it's convenient. Of course, there'd be some sort of little IC background on it, but that's not hard. In addition, you can have more than four boarders; nations come in all shapes and sizes so anything is possible. Options extend for a long way. One doesn't need to fill up all of their boarders right away either, wait till the time is right.
Ruken
26-04-2006, 20:56
OOC: Well the problem is that I'm not sure how far one's boarders should be far their homeworld and you kaz have them pretty close to me. Also their is the dragon too wary about to since he seems to be close too
Kazecistan

ooc: The Kazeci system of claiming space is a little different than a basic range. They have really 4 classes of territory:

-Temporary- small, often disconnected and far off, held only for a short time for mining or research (what the area near by is classified as)
-Territory- something held with permanent colonization that is not connected to the 'main body' of Kazeci space, usually consists of several systems and full amenities (defense stations, mining, research, recreation, etc.)
-Province- large but disconnected bodies of space with high permanent populations and several habitable worlds colonized, extensive amenities
-Main Land- the largest body of space, contains the home world and other large worlds as well as extensive amenities.

They grow their space by increasing the size of territories to provinces until they merge with the mainland. Sometimes provinces, territories, and the main land are connected by lesser spaces (a province and the main land may be connected by a territory, but all three will remain separate until qualifications are met) or butt up against each other. As it is, I have several largish holdings not attached to my mainland (none too far off, however) and many temporary properties all over a large portion of the galaxy. Territories are started in uninhabited clusters of habitable planets that have resources available, thus making them good permanent claims.

Kazecistan plans to pull out of this temporary property in a few years, and would sell it sooner if you offered.

As to how far boarders 'should' be from the home world, much of that is up to RP preference. Most people don't have a problem with nations claiming more planets and space than their NS population can fill (being close to 6 billion population would fill a planet, some do more or less depending on preference- most nations don't have 6 billion people, but hold several if not many 'full' planets.) So long as your military and technology matches the capabilities of your NS pop, your holdings can be greater (holding galaxies doesn't generally make for good RP, though). Most new nations like to start out claiming just one or two permanent holdings systems, then RP the gain of more. (not all of a nations holdings need to be RPed, usually just the early few and strategic ones after that, none if you like.)

RP your size to match what fits your story (while being reasonable).

OOC: Sorry I was gone so long I got very sick

"Trod what do you think? Buy the world and keep exploring?" whispered Vorrs. "I think we should buy it and look around more maybe send the second ship on the other side of the Nebula," whispered back Trod. "Great minds think alike," said Vorrs. “I decided to buy it for a reasonable price in the galactic standard if you even have one. After that what's next on the agenda?" Vorrs said to everyone.
Kazecistan

Shit, a price? He thought to himself. He hadn't expected to need to name one. Quickly he pulled up the projected profit for the sector, halved it (in the interests of improved relations), and sent it to his C.O., who forwarded it to another branch of the massive bureaucracy, and so on. Eventually (a few moments) his C.O. replied that it would take a while to settle on a price and he should move on.

"Alright, we're beginning to pull out of the area now, but it will be a while before prices are established, that will likely go direct between our two governments later. As for what's next, well, perhaps the establishment of further relations? Like this sale, specific trade agreements ought to go direct between our governments, it's just simpler, but alliances and other interaction are well suited to this setting. We understand if it's too soon for you to join an alliance (though we'd love it if you joined us), but what about free trade and rights of passage?"
The Humankind Abh

"I believe I would also like to offer possible trade agreements." Dashnu spoke up for the first time in awhile.
Ruken

"We of Ruken would love to trade to you people I am willing to sign any trade agreements that are reasonable," smiled Vorrs "Why we even have these naturally occurring plasma globes although they have no other purpose than decor, probably the only thing unique at our planet.”
