Need help switching techs

I originally thought that between my MT and FT nations, I could participate in most PMT rps, but not only is this wrong, but I think PMT is closer to my early visions of Boozia anyway. So I've been wandering how to go about switching. Any advice?

Why switch? Participate in all of them.

i have my nation in past tech, modern tech and future tech so it can be done as long as you don't get your fact books mixed up.

So your saying simply assume my PMT stuff is todlers and prototypes for MT, and vice versa, maintaining the two timelines seperately?

I keep it simple. If I'm RPing with MT, then I'm MT. If I'm RPing with FT, then I'm FT. FT includes both MT and FT. And I have what I call PMT (post modern tech) that has elements of both. For instance, if I'm at war with an MT nation, I'll pretty much stick to conventional weaponry. But within my own territory I'll use PMT stuff like beaming, orbital recon, and AI units. I won't go into FT unless the other nation agrees to it.

you simply maintain different time periods keeping the tech level consistant.

for example in PT the year is 1450 AD so gunpowder weapons are still primitive and just as likely to blow up in your face than do damage to an enemy.

in PMT you're slightly ahead of todays tech level. You'll have space ships but faster than light travel may not be possible and if its available it won't be that great.

in FT anything goes as long as its built on whats came before.

Most of the PMT tech is based on extensions of todays technology. If you play it right a lot of the technology is more effective than future technology. Some things which I use for reference are DARPA's Future Force Warrior in the United States-- this program has every kind of stuff imaginable from tanks to planes to mortars. Much of this technology is being worked on right now and some of it is surprisingly more futuristic than you might expect. Current projects include things like ship railguns, electromagnetic bore mortars, advanced body armor. All kinds of things which you wouldn't expect. I also read the latest science news, popular science, and popular mechanics. There is a lot of upcoming weapons technology in these issues which easily can be converted into both MT and PMT-- the difference is that the items work unlike many fantastic PMT or future tech weapons. Things like the AA12 with HEAP rounds are incredibly effective and available today.
Romanar

I haven't done much actual RP yet, but my plan is to use Romanar for PT, MT, and PMT. Romanar has a history with the sword that continues to this day, so its PT army is probably mostly swordsmen and maybe some archers for distance. PMT, they will probably have interplanetary travel, and a lot of neat stuff that doesn't exist yet, but no interstellar travel unless in suspended animation. For FT, I'll use a different nation.
