Torrigan Suitor (Roman Greece)

King Gaspar Torris was getting old. He was rounding fifty and childless. No Queen sat beside him in his small throne room. Gaspar was a lonely old man at times, attending plays in a private balcony and listening to symphonies in an empty ball room.
Not for much longer. The Congress of vassals had several times brought it up in session that Gaspar would need an heir. There were supporters of his brothers, his cousins in the Congress. But there were fair men who simply reminded Gaspar of his Royal duty to wed and to rear heirs.

Duke Philip, a close political ally and a leading representative in the Congress of Vassals was with him today. "Roman Greece, your majesty" Philip said in his quiet voice.
Gaspar looked up to his friend, quill hanging in the king's hand. "Pardon?" He asked. "Roman Greece, mi'lord. They are a fine nation. Much more populaous than our own. Torrigo is on well enough terms with them." Gaspar ran his hand over his chin and blinked. For an aging man, his eyes bore the shine and vibrance of a young boy.
"Who do we know in their Foreign Ministry?" Gaspar asked roughly. After a moment of shuffling through papers, Philip said "Constantine Ducas."

He took a blank sheet of paper and his quill scratched away.
''To Mr. Ducas,
I am told through my chief advisors that Roman Greece is among the chief nations that would consider for this action. As I am no young man, I am in need of an heir. To increase the relations between our two nations, I ask for a hand of a Roman Greek lady. A woman suitable for the throne, suitable for child bearing and raising a King.
-Respectfully and Cordially
King Gaspar Torris"

Constantine Ducas was in his office, working on some notes when his assistant came in. ''Mr. Ducas, you have a letter. Here you go.'' the assistant said, handing him the letter. ''Thank you, I shall read it. You may go.'' Constantine said. As the assistant left, Constantine drunk from his cup of coffee and put down his notes. He opened the letter and read from it. ''To Mr. Ducas,

King Gaspar Torris''

''The King of Torrigo wishes a lady's hand? I shall see to it that he gets one.'' Constantine said.

''To King Gaspar I, I have recieved your letter and I have read it over. I have a lady that you may be interested in. Her name is Juliet Lacroix (I may change the last name later-OOC). She is 20 to 25, has medium length brunette hair, has blue eyes, a very attractive look and figure and has many interests. She is able to bear children also, since Your Majesty requires this. She is the daughter of an aristocrat by the way and can speak other languages including French. I will forward your letter to the necessary people and we will arrange Miss Lacroix's coming to your nation. And, Juliet Lacroix is a woman suitable for the throne, suitable for child bearing and raising a King. I am sure that she will be a good Queen for your nation. Peace be with your nation and yourself.

Signed,
Constantine Ducas, In the Service of the Roman Greece nation''

Constantine had his assistant send his letter and then he went back to his notes and the such. ''I hope everything works out well.'' Constantine thought, turning to look out his window, seeing the city he was in.

"Excellent." Gaspar said, reading the reply. He smiled, looking forward to his Queen's arrival. His concubines were not sophisticated but this Juliet appeared to be the whole deal. Young, Sophisticated, and willing to marry.

"Send for Juliet in with an Air Force vessel. She will be royalty after all. Court her from the beginning, we ought to." Gaspar said with a chuckle. The elderly man coughed and brought a fist up to cover his mouth. "Invite their Chief of State." He said to Philip.

"We both know what a Royal Marriage entails. It brings great friendship... find an artisan. A present to her father. And one for Roman Greece's ruler I suppose."

Constantine Ducas had visited Juliet at her home and told her of the event. Juliet packed her things and went to the airport, waiting for the Torrigo Air Force vessel to pick her up. Constantine Ducas would wait at the airport with Juliet till the plane came, afterwards he would go back to his office. ''Juliet, remember to be respectful to King Gaspar and his nation. We don't want to make them think that Roman Greece is a rude, snobbish nation, now do we?'' Constantine laughed a little. ''Of course not, I will be respectful.'' Juliet told Constantine. When the plane finally came, Juliet and Constantine both went on the plane and the plane took off on its trip. OOC-Is this a good post? Just making sure.

The plane seemed somewhat obsolete. It didn't have jet engines. Rotating fins and a load diesel engine brought it in the air. Still, it was comfortable. His Majesty had equipped it with every luxury he could muster for his bride and her Roman Greek entourage.
The pilots, the few pilots Torrigo had, were damn good. They flew the plane steady and smoothly and when it touched down on Torrigo's Capital island, the sunw as shining. Crowds stood outside the airprot, chanting their soon to be Queen's name.

The airport, in the city of Bradleans, was small for such an important flight. Much of Torrigo's operations were tiny. The motorcade was secure for the nation though, two armored cars awaiting to escort Juliet and the Roman Greek delegation.
The capital lay not far off. The motorcade zipped down the national highway. For armored cars, they certainly moved quickly enough with the motorcade topping off at 85 miles an hour.

Juliet was fascinated by the motorcade and by her surroundings. Juliet turned to the Torrigan guard and said ''Nice to meet you, I am Juliet Lacroix.'' Juliet wanted to know the Torrigans better as she may become their Queen later on in the time ahead. She turned to the guard again and said ''Torrigo is a clean, well kept nation. You should be proud to be a citizen.'' Juliet took out a camera (she usually collected pictures of places she went to.) and took some pictures of the things and places around her. ''These will be good pictures to send back to my family.'' Juliet said. Meanwhile, Constantine was reviewing treaties, notes and all that on his laptop computer. ''Constantine, liven up a little. Relax now, work can wait.'' Juliet said to him. ''I know but this job I have is very important. Roman Greece and Torrigo must get along well.'' he said as he worked. Juliet nodded and went back to her photography session. She wondered about who this King Gaspar person was.

OOC: So long as you have something to offer to the story, I have no problem. I see your AIM screen name. mind signing on so we can talk this over?

IC: The Motorcade slipped through the streets of Torrigas. Gaspard wasn't there to greet her. He stood far in the distance, watching his bride move as she exitted the escorted limousine and observed her entourage. Ducas looked nervous. He had a lot of things on his mind, most likely. He wouldn't hold Ducas' jumpiness against the delegation.

"Captain." he said to his chief bodyguard, Captain of the Castle Guard. "Allow the Delegation into the Castle. They are to enter the Throne Room and have their seats around my seat. I will be there shortly..."

Constantine took his things and helped Juliet out of the car. They walked towards the entrance of the Palace of Gaspar and as they did, they talked. ''Constantine, you musn't be nervous about this. I am sure Gaspar and his ministers will listen to you.'' Juliet said. ''I know but I have not done this kind of job for so long. I hope I don't make a fool of myself and embaress you, me and Roman Greece.'' Constantine said. Juliet looked at him and said nicely ''Constantine, you won't embaress any of us. You will do fine. Now, brighten up. A King won't do buisness with a gloomy man.'' They went inside the Palace and were lead to the Throne Room.....

If a man of Torrigo had enough esteem, he stood today in the crowded Throne Room. The entire Congress of Vassals, in their forck coats and blue epaulets, bowed to their bridal Princess. Generals in the group kneeled and even the national colors tilted forward to salute the young woman, a honor reserved for Torrigan Royalty.

A single golden throne sat at the end of the long, lush, red carpet. For now, there was only one coronated Monarch. As such, for now only the king had a throne and a crown.
"Presenting..." A booming voice announced, it was the Designate Speaker of the Congress of Vassals. "Madam Juliet Lacroix, Torrgian Crown fiance, and the Roman Greek marital delegation." Applause erupted. Smiles surrounded the small delegation, now swamped in a flood of Torrigan well-wishers.

A trumpet blared. The royal ensign was raised up next to the national flag. The cheers and celebratory whistles died suddenly. No one spoke while the King entered. As it always was, King Gaspard entered with his bejewled crown tucked under his arm. A smile on his face, he saw the dashing young lady surroudned by foreign politicians. It was his Queen.

Gaspard took a seat and set the crown on his head. He coughed as he started to speak and paused a moment before addressing Juliet and Constantine. "Approach the throne, humble delegates... everyone else, find your way out." The Royal guards, clubs in their hands usheredout the crowd in just over a minute. It was silent, thye all knew that matters pertaining to the personal lives of Royalty were especially private.

Constantine and Juliet were amazed at the events that took place. They had seen how the people applauded them, how the generals knelt before them, and how the entire Congress of Vassals bowed before them. ''This is all so amazing. I've never really had people bow to me and that before. '' Juliet whispered to Constantine. ''Royalty always get this treatment. Remember those other rulers of lands like Napoleon Bonaparte or one of the other European monarchs.'' Constantine said back. Constantine bowed respectfully to the King and Juliet did so after he did. ''Your Majesty, I am Constantine Ducas, in the service of Roman Greece.'' Constantine said introducting himself. He turned to Juliet and said ''And this is Juliet Lacroix, a noblewoman from my country.'' ''It is a honor to meet you. I have not really met royalty that much in my lifetime.'' Juliet said to the King. ''Now, shall we begin our conversation? I have all the treaties and that here.'' Constantine said pulling out his notes and treaties. ''Roman Greece and Torrigo will have a great friendship, I am sure.'' Constantine said. Constantine began preparing his notes while Juliet talked to the King. ''Your Majesty, I and Mr. Ducas thank you for allowing us to visit your country which I must say is very well kept and filled with respectful people.'' Juliet said politely.

From a tower not to far from the Congress. An agent of death listened with his ear piece with was getting sound from the bug placed yesterday. The sound who a little grainy because of the amount of sound being generated by the others in the room. The Agent only tilted his head over activating a small camara placed on the roof of the Congress. He had a full 360 degreee view of the room. Faces where identified and logged Some had histories, others had spotless records. With a complete analysis of the room the agent knew of ever power cable in the room, ever crawl space, and every fire sprinkler.

" Well security is light for something like this." said the agent to himself.

With another sweep he could find points of fire from any potential guards he didn't see.

" 5 days till show time" said the agent.....

IC: "Thank you Juliet." Gaspar said, smiling. With a twinkle in his eye and disregard with the work to be done he continued speaking to his fiance. "Do you care for classical music, Juliet? The musicians of Torrigo are at my bidding. An orchestra awaits if it mets your fancy."

He didn't wait for her fancy. Instead, he clapped his hands together twice and a side door swung open. Musicians filed in, a dozen of them with beautiful instruments in hand. Gaspar certianly loved his music.
Without instruction from him, they began playing. Torrigo was famous for, if nothing else, it's classical masterpieces.

A symphony written by a long dead Torrigan, Valere De Portio, began. If anything, De Portio remained one of Torrigo's finest composers into the modern world. "What do you think of our culture, Miss Juliet?"

''I guess I...'' Juliet was about to say before he brought the musicians forth.
Juliet and Constantine turned to see the musicians play. ''Your Majesty, I like classical music, I suppose. I have listened to Bach, Mozart and others before.'' Juliet said to Gaspar. Juliet listened to the music while Constantine wrote down ''Remember Valere De Portio''. ''Your culture so far is interesting to me. I have seen many cultures, from the Bushmen, the Turks, Arabs, Bedouins, and others as well. I am sure that I will see more soon.'' Juliet said to him regarding culture. She then continued to listen to the music, it sounded well done to her.

IC: Gaspar stood up from his throne and made his way towards Juliet. "I do not request this meaninglessly." He said softly and places his left hand on the small of her back.
His right hand slpped into her left and Gaspar took control of her, performing the Waltz with great zeeal and precision. "A monarch should be cultured, no?" He asked her quietly, away from the prying ears of Ducas and the entourage.

Juliet quickly adapted to the waltz, seeing how well Gaspar could do it. ''Yes, a monarch should be cultured.'' Juliet said, doing the waltz quite well. They continued to dance, ignoring Mr. Ducas and the entourage, they were just concentrated on the dancing.

Gaspar smiled as he broke off the waltz and kissed the young lady on the cheek. "I will truly and utterly enjoy serving Torrigo with you." He pulled a massive golden rign from his jacket pocket, with a large diamond planted on it.

"By taking this ring, you enter wedlock.. and you join the Torris Royal Line. Will you, my dear?" He said and held the ring just a bit form her hand, prepared to slip it onto her delicate hands.

Juliet felt his kiss and heard his statement on serving his nation. Then Juliet saw the ring he brought out. When he asked about if she would marry him, Juliet said ''I....I...I guess I could. Yes, I will marry you!'' Juliet embraced him and Gaspar placed the ring on her hand. Mr. Ducas came and said ''Congratulations, Miss Lacroix.''

OOC-That was kind of quick for a proposal.

OOC: Why screw around? She knew thats why she came here. Pklus this is an arranged marriage.

IC: "Captain!" He said loudly to the head of his guard. "Let the Congress in." The man, guarding the large doors saluted then did a smart about face before two of his men opened the thick doors.
The Congress of Vassals entered silently and ceremoniously.Torrigan Nobles were well versed in poper etiquette and procedure. As they approached the King and Queen-fiance, each of them knelt and said quickly, "I owe my loyalties to you, my Queen." That was highly critical as in order to be a Vassal of Torrigo, one must be of noble blood and swear allegiance to The King, and in this case the Queen as well.

"Thank you, Mr. Ducas, for bringing me this young woman. May this pave even further development between our great nations. May I offer you knighthood in the Torrigan Court?"

Juliet saw the Vassals that said ''I owe my loyalties to you, My Queen.'' and she replied ''Peace be with you, Vassal Of Torrigo.'' to each one who came. Juliet turned to Gaspar and said ''May our marriage last till the last of our breaths and days.'' Constantine Ducas then spoke to the King, ''You are welcome, Your Majesty. I am sure it will pave further development. And I would be honored to accept knighthood in the Torrigan Court.'' Constantine said this, bowing respectfully to the King and to the Queen. ''May your reigns be filled with prosperity and peace.'' Constantine said to the King and the Queen. ''Shall we arrange a wedding celebration?'' he asked the King nicely.
