Vehicle Trials Announced
The Donnegal Herald
Army Vehicle Trials to Begin
Today the Army announced a series of open assessment trials for a new series of military vehicles to replace the aging Universal Carrier and Holford families of personnel carriers and fighting vehicles.
Quartermaster-General Lord Allen Walmington stated in the press release, "What we are looking for is a family of vehicles based on a standard chassis, to minimise logistical concerns. Our requirements are quite numerous, so we're opening options to corporations beyond our shores, be it for purchases or licensing agreements, to ensure the very best vehicle for our armed forces."
The military stated their requirements, generally speaking, as follows (the particulars are still of course, classified);
General requirements:
- immunity to small arms fire up to individual 20mm impacts
- reasonable survivability/countermeasures v individual infantry AT weaponry
- unit refers to individual vehicle
Class 1) Infantry Fighting Vehicle
- 8 soldier transport capacity
- suppression capable armament
- 554 units
Class 2) Anti Tank vehicle
- replace infantry transport and suppression armament with ATGM capability
- 86 units
Class 3) Command Vehicle
- Transport for 4 personnel
- communications equipment for the receipt/issue of orders
- 56 units
Class 4) Reconnaissance Vehicle
- Transport for 4 personnel
- communications equipment for the relay of battlefield data
- reasonable threat detection/radio monitering equipment
- 76 units
These units will be integrated into the Army's cavalry and and mechanised infantry forces in various roles.
OOC;
As you may guess, I'd like to see a few bids put in for various IFVs to fill these roles. The contract will be awarded to the best vehicle as I see it fills the "army's" needs, and will be a multi-year thing, as my little economy can't manage a full on bulk purchase just yet.

The Aequatian Military Industries Spartan Infantry Combat Vehicle, Mark III is capable of fulfilling the roles outlined in Classes 1, 2 and 4 while the Raider Light Armoured Vehicle, Mark I could be modified into fulfilling the Class 3 Command Vehicle.
Light Armoured Vehicle, Raider Mk.I
The Raider LAV was designed to replace the older Mark.II LAV which was removed from service due to mechanical problems. The Mark.III has much better armoured protection and mobility over land and water. The new 23mm Autocannon also provides a gunner with an increased ability to engage lightly armoured vehicles and low-level aircraft. It is currently in service with the Aequatian Army as a command, control, communication and information (C3I) vehicle for battalion commanders and up and with the Aequatian Marines as a C3I and light combat vehicle.

Infantry Combat Vehicle, Spartan Mk.III
The Spartan-series of infantry combat vehicles has had a place within the ranks of the modern Aequatian Army for years and has seen various modifications made to its base form and functions. The Super Spartan, Infantry Combat Vehicle Mark III, is the latest variant of the vehicle and is imbued with many improvements made during the Aequatian Republic's long isolationist period, including improved armour protection and mobility.
Armour protection is provided by a lightweight Carbon-60 and Tungsten composite armour similar to that in the Incubus MBT which in firing tests can widthstand a direct hit from 100mm HEAT rounds when used in cooperation with Aequatian Military Industries Titanium Appliqué Armour Level III which is capable of stopping light cannon rounds up to 35mm HE and 23mm AP.

Kriegzimmer is willing to introduce their own designs and technologies, hoping that they score high marks in these coming vehicle trials. Kriegzimmer believes that, even should it not win the competition, Danerys will find them quite fitting and perhaps future contingents should their first choice not prove as well chosen as previously thought. Without further adue Kriegzimmer provides you its selection:
Although our infantry fighting vehicle is not up to par, and thus will not be presented, Kriegzimmer does sell a heavy armoured personnel vehicle which acts like an infantry fighting vehicle, with the added advantage of a larger personnel carrying capacity. You can see the vehicle in one of the pages of our catalogue, here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10254597&postcount=1037). Besides that, we have to offer our G11 Lightweight Vehicles Series in which a command vehicle and a reconnaissance vehicle are included, with seperate prices. You can view these here (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10476388&postcount=1255). Post trials, should you find our designs to be fitting we would like to direct you to our catalogue and order processing center which can be found here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=409787). Thank you for your time.

The Donnegal Herald
Army Begins Vehicle Trials
Open trials for the Army's new multipurpose cavalry and infantry combat vehicle began today at the Curragh Proving Fields in the Province of Donnegal. The rigorous tests will examine the strengths and weaknesses of the various chassi, with eight basic types submitted by six international corporations.
These tests mark the first of a series of major modernisation projects the Army intends to undertake, with other projects set to begin within the next few months.
"The project has grown in scope beyond original expectations, but that's hardly surprising," said Colonel Richard Defed of the quartermaster's department. "Several of the proposed designs have included ambulance and air defence configurations, and we felt it would be irresponsible to neglect attending to those areas in addition to the stated goals."
Trials will continue for the next two months, at which time a formal announcement will be made regarding the winner, to whom the substantial contract will ultimately be awarded.

MIV-16E Export Infantry Fighting Vehicle
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/Dostanuot/Army/MIV-16.png
The MIV-16 is a modern, capable, infantry fighting system, designed primarily with the desert and grassland terrain of Sumer in mind. It's capabilities however, have since expanded to all terrain types as needed. The armoured hull and turret are constructed from synthetic fibers layered amongst prefabricated ceramic armour plate and stiffened from a special resin. The armour is extremely strong, lightweight, and reliable. Internal capacity for the MIV-16E is seating for ten infantry who exit through a hydraulically powered ramp at the rear, but up to six stretchers with two accompanying medics and equipment, or an array of communications and battlefeild managment systems can be substituted instead.
The MIV-16E is armed primarily with a 35mm chaingun firing linkless, caseless, ammunition of both AP-T and HEI-T types. Backing up the main gun is a coaxial 5mm machine gun (Which can be swapped out for a traditional 5.56mm NATO or 5.54mm Soviet weapon). Aditionally a set of six 125mm tubes in two vertically articulated launch systems. These six tubes are capable of taking the AIM-97 Short Range IR Anti-Air missile, the ATM-90 Anti-Tank Guided Missile, or the ATM-32 family of Recoiless Rocket Propelled Grenades, if required an equivilent set of fitting missiles can be fitted and the fire control system adapted to the new weapons (Jevelin, Stinger, etc.). For close in support a 60mm mortar is mounted within the rear of the turret, and a set of Grenade/Smoke dischargers for defence. Finally for extra protection the MIV-16E is fitted with the Enlil Armour Protection System which uses a set of HE-Frag "grenades" launched from the turret roof by a milimeter-wave RADAR system to defend against top attack ATGM weapons.
Full GPS navigation and Satalite communications systems are included, as well as a full NBC protected environmental system. The MIV-16E is fully amphbious without preparation and with it's low ground pressure and powerful engine it can tackle any terrain required.

Nineveh Armoured Works MIV-16E
Description is very similar to PROHT's HT-101. With the change to linkless 35 mm ammo instead of conventioal 35 mm; weaker armor plating, and replacing the HT-101s seprate 5" short Mortar tubes and Rocket launcher systems with a single system. And the omision of PROHT's fast easy to use fire control system.
The MIV-16E also has RADAR, which the standard HT-101 lacks. But then, the HT-101 comes in so many delectable flavors, and was designed for urban/winter/jungle warfare.

And, according to your own writeup, this vehicle is better armoured, armed, and more capable of rougher terrain and amphibious opperations. But, whatever you need to win a contract.

No accusation, just comparision between the two vehicles' abilities, mine was an extensively redisigned M-113: single small (48") turret ring mounting as much as it could, and better designed armor vs yours which appears to be a scaled down AMX-13/leapord/Merkerva tank with room for further improvements.
Yours appears to be a specialised vehicle, while mine used a common chassis for all AFVs.
Anyhow, you would win if anyone claimed plagerism, my design (due to join date) is inherintly younger on the forums. (In fact, circulation of the design is so low, that it is doubtful that you even saw my tank before this thread. (35 views, mostly myself)
Any performance similarities are because both groups used the same perfomance requirements in mind when designing vehicles.
Mobilty:
Amphibious
Air portable
High road speed
Gas turbine for readiness
Survivability:
Bolt on Armor, to match any foreseen threat
Synthetic composits (plastic/fiberglass) to keep wieght down
Ceramic for use against HEAT
Firepower:
35 mm linear to fit in same size mount as 20 mm gatling, but smaller than (and infirior to) a 40 mm Bofors. (which is a bit too large for fitting in the HT-101's turret ring) The CC-35B 35 mm AA cannon has a rate of fire comparable to the 20 mm Gatling, and much improved ballistics, and is aproxomate size to the Bofors.
Rockets: to knock out occasional tanks
Motrars: self defense, or to lay suppresive fire during advance/retreat
MG: Something smaller than a 35 mm.
But due to the scary similarities, it would boil down to marketing, asthtics, and room for improvement to win over the other.
I wonder what the low price tag and massive 'shock and awe' marketing would do to affect the competition?

And, by the way, the MIV-16E is completely scratch designed (With a little inspiration of the Achzarit), specifically to Sumerian Army requierments. It's armour happens to be thicker, it's tracks happen to be wider, and apparently it's capabilities better then the HT-101, except it is not air dropable, and less capable of being modified to other general roles. (Note, armour values are for a shot hitting each plate at 90 degres to the plate face, it is signifigantly higher if you factor in the slope. As well, that's 71cm wide tracks each, which are roughly 28.5 inches wide each.)

Think this is what happened in the 1950s when AMericans and Russians first saw the F-86 sabre and Mig-15 for the frst time, at the same time.
The American pilots mistok the MiGs for their own, and most likely the Koreans made the same mistake.
Both were independant designs taken from tha same core data. Both planes had the same type of armarment, crew, dimensions, agility, and wing sweep.
So such coincedences happen in RL too.
