30 Years war RP
This is for any and all history buffs out there. Or anyone who wants to do a renaissance/ post renaissance tech war. This conflict began in 1607 and ended in 1642. It was a complicated war, so I am not sure if we should be claiming generals, nations or families. But, I think that this may become an interesting RP. Interested? Comments??
Edit:
Claimed factions:
Sweden-Not Taxes
I might be but I'd have to doa lot of research, beacuse its not really my period.

Wasent the thirty years war fought from 1618 to 1648?
As for weaponry, we're talking early muskets?

30 years war began in 1607 when Ferdinand von Hapsburg was deposed from the throne to Bohemia by Frederick, elector of the Palatinate.

Sorry to nitpick, but 1607-1642.
To be more constructive...
Nations that participated in the Thirty Years' War:
German Protestants, Sweden, and France v. German Catholics, Austrians, and Spanish

dates were fixed,
But I was wondering how to account for the fact that Count Tilly, head of the German Catholic army acted independantly. I'd also like to create the opportunity for this war to end differently. The Danes also played a significant part, as did the Dutch rebels.
I was thinking for some of the available factions for claiming:
Spanish Hapsburgs (Control Spain, Italy, Burgundy, Netherlands, territory in S. America)
Austrian Hapsburgs (Austria, Emperors over Holy Roman Empire and have subsequent taxation rights)
Sweden
France
Denmark-had taxation rights over the Danish Sound
Dutch Rebels
English (were mostly neutral, but could have been involved, arguably)
more to come...
Something that should be accounted for is that the Spanish Hapsburgs had funds coming from prescious metals in S. and Central America. However, these fleets were shipped into Dutch ports and were often stolen by the Dutch pirates and English privateers.
Is it oign to be an AH?
what is an AH?

Sorry ALternate History, like Harryn Turtledove books.
I like his books,
u read the WorldWar series (and the others with the lizards?)
Not lizrads but TL 191 and Derlavai (Da best)
I'd like to start it out accurately at the point when Frederick V takes power in Bohemia, but all the other powers can determine when and how deeply they'd like to get involved. I think it would be interesting to see how the war plays out, but I'd like players to be semi-true to their nations' interest. If this holds together, I think it'd be interesting to rewrite the Treaty of Westphalia at the end. (Anybody guess what was my favorite subject in school?)

man, we gonna fight with muskets and stuff? cuz this seems like the thread that will take a long time
Well, I do have a soft side for the culinary arts...
But for all concerned parties, muskets will be involved. I think cannons are appearing for the first time on the battlefield, but I need to check

Yeah, there are primitive cannons
(at least in sieges, i think so on the battlefiedl)
cannpns appeared during the Hundred years war and the fall of Constantinople (1452) so therewere cannon back then.

This thread looks to be in danger of dying out, so since i have noticed that you are participating in The Game of Revolution like me, you could advertise this there and also put a link to this thread in your signature to advertise it even more. Though these are just suggestions to keep this thread alive since it seems like it'd be fun with some more active rpers.
This should be an amazing thread. C'MON PEOPLE!!! DON'T YOU KNOW AWESOME WHEN YOU SEE IT??!?!!
