Government type: Parliamentary democracy under constitutional monarchy
Independence: In 1497 the current House of Walmington was established with authority over an England united since the 10th century; 1505 saw the conclusion of the Walmingtonian war with the annexation to England of Newry Island; the union between England and Wales, begun in 1284 with the Statute of Rhuddlan, was formalised by the Walmingtonians under Queen Mavis in 1536 with an Act of Union; the unification of Great Britain came in 1707, with an Act of Union between England and the clans of Norbray, creating Walmington on Sea a united island group
Note- The Wendsleybury Islands were discovered and explored, by Harold Wendsleybury, during the first two decades of the House of Walmington, and colonisation began soon there after, but, to this day, no official statute exists confirming Walmingtonian authority in the de facto province
Executive branch:
Chief of State- His Walmingtonian Majesty King GODFREY III (née Charles); Heir Apparent Prince Edryd, Duke of Newry

Note- The Social Labour Party resulted from the BID Party's infusion of MPs following the dissolution of the Labour Party, after which Old Labour politicians joined BID while New Labour ministers dispersed themselves amongst the Whig and Tory camps; the Liberal Alliance represents a recent attempt to restore the Liberal Party after the erosion -by defection to BID- of its prior incarnation, the Liberal Democrats

Minister for Foreign Affairs Baron (Alan) Thunder-ten-tronckh

Natural resources: Petroleum, natural gas, coal, iron ore, gold, zinc, tin, copper, clay, chalk, sand, limestone, barite, gypsum, dolomite, potash, slate, peat, timber, arable land, hydropower-potential (Wendsleybury Islands), fish- Walmington on Sea prizes its (true) cod in particular, and is known to over-react and even fire on foreign vessels caught fishing her waters in their pursuit.
Labour force: 34.22 million
Labour force by occupation: Agriculture 11% Industry 31% Services 58%
Industries: Publishing and printing, wood and paper products, machinery, transport equipment, aircraft, shipbuilding, chemicals, coal and other mining, petroleum, food processing, wool, textiles, clothing, livestock, fishing

Key Import/export partners: Australasia, United Elias, Indian National Union, Quinntonia, Strathdonia, Roycelandia and Empire
Currency: Walmingtonian Pound (WOSP, W£)
International issues:
Newrian (and Newrian-origin) Catholics and Newrian Nationalists often disagree with Great Walmington's position on many international situations, and are not infrequently a cause of embarrassment for the government.
There are numerous dormant Walmingtonian claims to Pacific islands -both independent and colonial-, rooted mainly in the early C16th exploring of Harold Wendsleybury.
Illicit drugs: Often conservative Walmington on Sea enforces surprisingly liberal drugs-laws, though this is motivated in equal measure by the profitability of the opium trade and a widespread refusal to accept the negative findings of what few independent medical studies in the nation have tackled related issues. As a result of all this the nation is a minor transit point for various narcotics, as well as being a legal consumer of many of the same drugs. In the latter capacity, Walmington struggles to find legitimate sources since the end of major British involvement in such affairs in Asia, and Walmingtonian Companies are often suspected of dealing with criminal enterprises in India especially, which is cause for potential conflict. Following Soviet India and some of the most deprived African nations, Walmington is also the world's largest consumer of alcohol units per head of population.
